I know I've reviewed Seajax before but we were having a rough day today (involving hospitals and stuff ). We needed comfort food and excellent service. Seajax was the perfect choice. I got the black bean burger for my first time. Very good. Thanks Seajax! read more

Finally made it back. We decided to take advantage of a nice day and get a good meal. I ordered the jambalaya with rice and it is a little spicy, tasty and delicious. I usually order fish tacos but decided on a different food. My wife had clam strips and 2 fried oysters. Our server was very friendly and attentive. Our wait for our food was reasonable Unless you not familiar with the lack of windows letting light through, it can be a little dark at first but your eyes will adjust Still very clean inside read more

Food is great, as are the emplyees! The ambiance is wonderful. The grouper is excellen.

Excellent !! we by the Grouper . Great fish. Plenty of selection /. And adult beverages ! Too.

Love this place. I stop in anytime I'm in the area. Great ambiance, wonderful food, great beer secretion and friendly service.

Cute spot. Tried for supper. Gets pretty crowded and we gos there about 20 minutes after opening. There isn't a lot of wait area so many folks were near the dining tables. EMMA, our server, was fantastic giving excellent suggestions. I had the shrimp, hubs had the lemon Parmesan grouper. He added clam chowder but didn't like it much. He's not an onion celery guy!! BUT the fish.....Both quite tasty and NOT over cooked!! Melted on your mouth. We started with cheese logs. They are HUGE way too much for 2 people. Check it out!! We are already planning or next dining experience to try the fish tacos!! Yummm read more

Sea Jax In 1995, we often purchased grouper sandwiches on Sanibel for $5.00. Today $20.00 purchases an excellent grouper dinner at Sea Jax. Ron has carefully integrated seafood with burgers, and has an outstanding Boomer Business. Lots of seafood winners on this menu. Debbie, our classical server is always excellent. Great diner, great menu, great ambience, and great seafood. read more

Amazing food, cool rustic atmosphere, excellent service, and good beers. What more could you ask for? The coconut shrimp and grouper bites are amazing. I only wish they would seat on the patio. Every time I've gone, the patio has been closed for some reason. read more

I have been to Sea Jax Tavern four times, so it is clearly time to write this review. It is truly a neighborhood meeting place and you can tell that there are lots of regulars. We were made to feel welcome by a pleasant and efficient waitstaff. The New England clam chowder is the best I've had in decades. Lots of clams, very creamy and delicious. I had the lemon Parmesan grouper which was excellent. This difficult to find grouper on a many outside Florida. I've had the fried clams and fish and chips which were very well prepared. The fish tacos looked excellent. Portions are good without being overwhelming and the waiters check back often. I asked for a notable substitution which was easily accommodated. This is the best seafood restaurant and I highly recommended it. read more

Fun place packed on a Wednesday night I sat at the bar and waited for our table. Very helpful staff nice selections of drafts. Bartender offered me a sample which I was glad I did not care for it. We got our table before promised and the server was prompt and efficient. We had the coconut shrimp and a burger. The shrimp was very good and I love the dipping sauce. So much that I forgot to get a picture. I really like the fun filled atmosphere everyone was have a great time. read more

Sea Jax Tavern - Shot of the bar as I sampled the drafts and waited for my table - Seafood Near Me - Kettering, Ohio

I just added Sea Jax Tavern to my carefully curated Yelp collection called "Best of the Best." It was a fantastic experience today, 5 shining stars for ambience, service, food, drink, bathrooms, even parking. This place has such a nautical atmosphere, from the portholes to the wood planks to the furnishings. The aroma from the kitchen will have you salivating! We sat at the bar and were served by Amy, who was also handling some tables, which she skillfully managed without the bar ever feeling abandoned. I had a feeling on receiving her warm welcome that she was going to be great and she excelled in every area- friendly, cheerful, polite, prompt, attentive and appropriately conversational. She offered samples from the mega-extensive beer list --something like 25 taps. I chose a refreshing fruity brew called Boozy Orange Soda which was probably the most delicious beer I've ever tasted. Amy suggested serving it on ice which was great! My husband had a Truth Bomb from Rheingeist which was like original Truth to the 10th power. I wanted to order so many things on the menu and settled on the Fish and Chips and an added side of their pasta salad. That had a perfect vinegar zing and was colorful and fun to eat. The cod filet was flaky and had a perfect breading, not too thick and just the right amount of crisp. The fries were outstanding, soft inside and golden crispy outside, lightly seasoned. The creamy homemade coleslaw was the best. When do you rave about coleslaw? This one deserves a mention. I never reached for salt and pepper, okay? Also loved the homemade tarter sauce- wow. It took both the fish and the chips to the next level, and they were pretty high to begin with. Of course malt vinegar was offered and gladly accepted. I had the one-piece and it was plenty to eat. My husband had the lemon Parmesan grouper. Grouper! Where do you find grouper in Ohio?! He let me have a taste, it was fantastic, firm, not 'fishy' and the Parmesan glaze was the bomb. Needless to say he licked his plate clean too. We got an order of clam strips to go. My sweet Lord, I haven't had clam strips since -- before we beat it out of New York. These were so good it made me cry. Substituted the homemade Jax potato chips for fries and they are excellent! Not over thick as you see a lot. Nice and crunchy and salty. Everything about the Sea Jax Tavern was perfect, perfect, perfect and I can't wait to come back for calamari strips and a slice of Key Lime Pie! read more

Great I would eat there once a week. Great service fine food. Very close to many neighborhoods and convenient.

This place is soooo good, I mean soooo stinking good. Yes is smelled good at SeaJax, but the vibe, the taste the service. We loved it, it was like love at first sight once you step into the old Pizza Hut refurbished for a great dining experience that will bring calling you back for more. The service was first class, loved the service at the bar while we waited to sit (45mins) and they had some great craft beer to choose from along with the good old oldies. Our waiter made some great suggestions and we went for it. Don't miss out on their spinach artichoke dip, wow, it was a winner. It should win a national award . I was thrilled they had claim strips and even though the taste wasn't what I was hoping for it delivered. I couldn't put my finger on it, but the taste left me wanting more. Their fries are killer and the portions are worth the price. The salads massive as my wife choose one of their salads and she loved it, more than I loved mine. I want to try to claim strips again as I think it was just an off night. I love claim strips so hoping they are better next time. Give SeaJax's a try, it was a pleasant surprise, we had heard good things and they are all true. You'll enjoy it. read more

First time there and maybe my last. Tried many things. Onion rings, grouper strips, calamari, clam chowder, lemon parm chicken, grouper sandwich, clam strips. The clam chowder was excellent and that's about it in my opinion. Grouper was slimy. The chicken was so overcooked it took 5 minutes to swallow 1 bite! Pasta salad tasted weird, steamed broccoli was crunchy, clams strips tasted like something I could get from Kroger. Service was mediocre. Had to ask for refills and spotted our server constantly talking to another table. There's really no place to wait inside for a table so you have to wait outside till they call you. It's dark in the restaurant which I get since they call it a tavern. I would probably order the clam chowder to go in the future. read more

New to the Dayton area and stopped in on a Friday evening for dinner. Seems like a popular locals restaurant. Reasonable 15 minute wait for a table. Bar and restaurant were pretty much full so there was a good vibe/atmosphere. Was able to grab a pre dinner cocktail at the bar until our table was ready. Started with fried pickle spears - good, could have gone a minute longer in the fryer. Little pricey for an app at $12. For dinner we had the fried clam strip entree and jambalaya. Clam strip dinner was good but portion size of clam strips was small for an entree. Fries were well seasoned and crispy. Jambalaya had great flavor. It's definitely more of a gumbo/stew than transitional Jambalaya. Leftovers ate great. Overall, service was attentive. Not fast but not too slow - about what you'd expect with a full restaurant. Food hit the spot. Good atmosphere. Would recommend trying it out. Being 30 minutes away likely won't go out of the way to visit but would stop by again if in the area. read more

Although they were busy and had to wait in the bar area, we soon found seats and watched the game on TV. We ended up deciding to order dinner at the bar. The food and drinks were served quickly and were quite delicious. I had the clam strips and had to take more than half home. My partner ordered the blackened salmon and said it was very good. We will definitely make the trip back to Kettering to eat there again. read more

Great visit on a Friday night with family members in town for the holiday, we were seated right away and the menus were on the table. They have a huge craft beer menu which I loved, local, regional & national craft beer, Belgian beer it was hard to pick just one. Then the menu quite a variety of seafood, sandwiches, burgers, tacos, salads & wraps. Our food came within minutes of ordering our group had fish sticks & fries for kids, blackened salmon, mushroom burger, fish & chips and chicken tacos. Our server came by several times making sure we were okay. Thanks Sea Jax for great family meal. We will return again read more

Cozy ambience. The service at the bar was prompt and courteous. The grouper bites were tender and delicious while the clam chowder was just okay. The tartar and cream tail sauces were average, but the cole slaw was very good. Clam strips were average as were the fries, Overall, a 3.2. read more

1st time visit to this treasure! How have we never been here before? Great selection of beer and for the Old-Fashioned they use the proper cherry! To all other restaurants and bars, always use Luxardo. Atmosphere is fantastic and the staff is great with their looks and service. Started with Grouper Fingers and Garbage Fries. Both excellent in looks and taste. Will def get both again. Jambalaya was surprisingly good although it was made North of the Louisiana border. Good sized shrimp and andouille sausage. Great flavoring. Will be a repeater to this location. read more

First time visiting this restaurant and it was good but not great. Something missing that I can't quite figure out. The restaurant inside was cozy and busy with happy customers. The staff were great. Our server was on it but it did take a while to get our food. However, I had the Lemon Parmesan Grouper but I didn't love. It was good but the it seemed a bit too salty or maybe the Parmesan was too much for my tasting. The grouper itself was cooked to perfection but it felt like it was buried under all the cheese. I think I would have loved the grouper without the Parmesan better. I also tried the cheese logs which were also pretty good. I forgot to take pics until the end so I only captured the menu which is left on the table and the cool shark mural in the bathroom that my son liked. read more

Went here for lunch. The place was clean and service was good. Fish and chips were good but a tad bit oily but the fish was cooked perfectly and was soft. Also was surprised by their Jambalaya. A good portion with great flavors. Didn't expect that..! Don't even take a picture due to being hungry. I highly recommend the dish. read more

Went friday again what a meal and service is always outstanding. Our favorite. Dan, Sue, Lee and Emma are great.

The food has been consistently good (most especially the clam chowder.....which is THE BEST) and the server "Lee" is totally professional and engaging! He is excellent at "staging" the food so that you have time to eat your salad before your entree comes out! We love that he pays attention to details so that this happens. So few waiters do that. Highly recommend you give this place a visit! read more

Pretty darn good seafood for Ohio. It had a real Florida vibe to it. Full bar, rustic interior, good vibe. Place was busy, service was good and never had to ask for a refill/another beer. I had the Bang bang shrimp(might be called something else). Large portion and very hot. The fish and chips looked top notch. Beautiful beer battered cod fillets. Prices were great. read more

I absolutely love SeaJax. It has a great environment and food. I usually go for the fish tacos but went for the Parmesan crusted grouper tonight. I'll definitely be getting it again! Also, I never miss getting an order of their fried calamari strips. They are amazing! Great service as well! read more

Delicious fresh food. Not necessarily trying to be a seafood restaurant but the fish I ordered was excellent! Cool neighborhood vibe, multiple draft beers on tap, not a large place, but cozy and in demand with the locals. Enjoy a locally owned restaurant! read more

We have only had carry-out Fish and Chips (bears capitalization) so far. I am looking forward to plunging into the entire menu ASAP!

First time visit. We were pleasantly surprised. Food was excellent and service was as well. We will definitely be coming back.

Been here so many times I'm ready to call it my standby. I can say I've never had a bad drink or meal here yet. I've had the Buffalo chicken wrap for lunch. I've had the wings and fries for dinner. I've done the fish tacos on their special. All fantastic! Great atmosphere and service is always good. I almost hate to post this because I want to keep how great this place is to myself but hey, they deserve it. read more

Awesome dinner, cool atmosphere, super friendly server that recognized and then gave me a military discount. 10/10

Think neighborhood tavern in New Orleans, and you got it. Lots of brews, burgers, Shrimp Creole and Jambulaya. It makes me homesick for Nola, but it's as close as I can get right now. Prices are reasonable. I got the half portion of Shrimp Creole and only could eat half...the rest is in my refrig for later. Service is very good. Bar is full service. The Saints were even on the TV last night! Locally owned and operated (by former owners of Sweeneys). Loyal following and expect it to be full at any given time. read more
