While heading to Buc-ee's today, I kept hearing people talk about Rip Rap Roadhouse having some of the best burgers around, so I decided to give it a try -- and I'm glad I did. First impression? It definitely gives off biker bar vibes from the outside, but once you step inside, it's way more welcoming and laid back than you'd expect. Good atmosphere, friendly people, and the kind of place that feels like a hidden local favorite. I ordered the Biker Burger, and it absolutely delivered. The burger was juicy, flavorful, cooked perfectly, and packed with great taste in every bite. You can tell they care more about making good food than trying to be fancy. If you're making the trip to Buc-ee's and want something local instead of chain fast food, Rip Rap Roadhouse is definitely worth the stop. Really cool place -- a classic on northside of Dayton & easy to access off of I-70 or I-75. Officially between Huber Heights & Vandalia but really just outside North Dayton off of Little York Road & Waggoner Ford. Classic tavern setting but great outside deck & patio. Room for live music and both bar & restaurant seating. Service is casual and friendly but efficient and smooth. Food is casual but barbecue and smoked wings are where it is at! Homemade kettle chips are good & the onion rings are real & crunchy! Beer is cold & plentiful, and the bar is stocked. An absolute must visit if in the area. We were here on vacation visiting family, found this business on Yelp and it did not disappoint. Staff was super friendly and polite all the food was fantastic accommodated a last minute large party. Stopped here today for lunch. I ordered the smash burger. It came on a very fresh toasted bun. The burger had two patties, American cheese, tomato, sautéed onion, pickle and mayo. The burger was a steak, chuck and brisket mix. It had great flavor. The burger was served with chips but I upgraded to fries. They were good, had a little bit of a crunch to them but not over done. The decor was biker influenced with some Harley Davidson designs. There was a function going on in the main dining area as it was closed off and full. We had to eat in the bar area which was fine. It had high top tables and bar seating. Our server was great and took care of us. Overall I would recommend this place. It had tons of parking and the food was good. read more

I went to Rip Rap Roadhouse for the first time today. We were seated and ordered our meal within 10 minutes. People were arriving after us and placing their orders and we were just waiting patiently. 45 minutes pass and we realize everyone around us (who arrived after us) were receiving their food and some even finished their meals. We spoke up and apparently the people in the kitchen "got confused". Let me just say we did not personalize our meals at all so I'm not sure where the confusion came into play. The manager said this usually doesn't happen, but I'm not so sure I believe him. We were served our food about an hour after we ordered. The food here is amazing! I've been to this restaurant numerous times and have NEVER had a bad experience. Appetizers, soup, salad, pizza, great soup. You can't go wrong eating at this restaurant! The interior was quaint (actually really cozy all decorated for the holidays) and the outside patio looks outstanding for the summertime. Appetizers were amazing...we had the loaded spuds, pretzel bites and midori sour and it did NOT disappoint at all. Entrees took an hour to come out and we're definitely not hot, barely even warm. This had been on our list of places to try for awhile! We enjoyed it. I had the Tequila Lime Chicken (8/10). The chicken and sauce were great but the Mexican rice could use a better flavoring. What a gem! Found it through Yelp, and we had the dog. Outside seating was fabulous, bikers bar for sure. We had a burger and beers. Clean bathroom, and everyone was so friendly. Weather was perfect, seating was great and alot of room to sit. Good music and just all around good food. Ended with the smoked wings and absolutely ok to bring the kids and dog. I would say he's succeeded, I came back (this is my 2nd visit), and I'm telling my friends here. Visited today after soccer (there are soccer fields behind the restaurant). It was pretty crowded, but we got seated quickly and served promptly and courteously. Menu is pretty simple food but prepared thoughtfully and with care. This is my second visit; I don't remember what I ate during my first visit but today my daughter and I had a burger and fries, a fried bologna sandwich with housemade chips, and coleslaw. Nothing was phoned in and appeared made in-house. Even the coleslaw, which is an afterthought most places, was fresh and packed with flavor. There's even an ice cream shop in front, if you're up for that after your meal. Our server was hustling, but attentive. Prices were extremely reasonable. It is a roadhouse and a biker bar. But the environment was cool, dim, rustic, and inviting, particularly on a hot day. I live nowhere near here, but would visit again when next in the area. read more

Last time I was in, this place was undergoing serious construction under new management! This has always been a classic biker bar, but don't be surprised to see families or kids here too. Love this one of a kind Dayton landmark. The service is good and quick. For such a big place and at a busy time (Saturday evening) we were impressed with how good the service was. They make sure you are noticed and taken care of. I choose the pulled pork sandwich with tots and man was it good. They make their own BBQ and sauce and their taste is popping and oooo so good. I'd for sure buy their BBQ is they sold it. They BBQ was tender and just right. Why the tots, I mean can you mess up tots? The space has a huge outdoor seating area with a stage for music and many seating options, indoor bar/outdoor bar, under an umbrella or at a picnic table, high tables and chairs or not, shade or not, plus booths and tables inside as well. It's a unique spot, more of a biker bar that has become popular with the locals too. If you're looking for a kick back relax chill spot, the Rio Rap Roadhouse is a great spot. What a fun find on our way to Columbus! This place was unique! And busy!!! We had a variety of brunch and lunch entrees and everything was delicious and affordable. Standouts included the chili cheesesteak, southwest salad and gumbo, but everything was good. Service was slow, but they were slammed and we weren't in a hurry, so it was fine. So how could I resist a place called the Rip Rap Roadhouse located on Rip Rap Road? It was a short visit and I think we only scratched the surface. It's like a complex- main bar building (a restored 19th century barn) with funky decor, lively atmosphere, patrons of all ages, friendly and prompt barmaids, lots of menu options, TouchTunes, and Sirius XM cranking 70s on 7; big outdoor patio, a second building that might be for events, an outdoor stage, a dog park area, another outdoor bar, bike night every Wednesday. And plenty of parking. Yeah I'd say there's a lot more to explore. The food was good. I took a chance and ordered the Rip Rap Chicken since I love goat cheese. I shy away from grilled chicken breast since I often find it dry- not here. Nice and juicy and the warm melty herbed goat cheese and soft sundried tomatoes really gave it a gourmet kick. Beautiful flavor blend. Nice dish. My husband wasn't too hungry and got the kid size burger which was not tiny, and I was craving that pretzel bun. Coleslaw was crisp and dilly. I haven't been here in years. I was So excited to have lunch outside on a beautiful day a couple weeks ago. Rip Rap is a cool restaurant/bar with a huge outdoor area that presents itself as a sort of biker bar. Don't let that shy you away because it really is a cool space. My friends and I started with big beers. Boat Show IPA is one of my favorite local brews and great on a warm day. For lunch I had the pulled pork sandwich with onion rings. They state that they are famous for the house made bbq sauce. It wasn't my favorite but ok. The pretzel bun that it came on though stole the show, so delicious! Cons: Cheesy potato hamburger lacked flavor. Even the cheeseburger lacked flavor. I use to love their burgers. The cheesy tots were waaaayy to salty but the waitress ordered us fresh ones with no salt. The bacon wrap breakfast burrito was nasty. The bacon on outside was still raw. Pros: porkchop were AMAZING. All the other food was not hot came out cold and it sat untouched. Paid the bill tipped my waitress and left. Doesn't seem like customer service is their biggest priority. The grounds were nice.
