We love Lily's. After a dozen visits over the years, we've never had a bad meal or an unpleasant experience of any kind. The management and staff consistently deliver great service, which is one of the reasons we keep coming back. This visit we sat on the side patio in the late afternoon, enjoying the people-watching and a great meal. The beer-battered fried mushrooms were some of the best anywhere -- hand-battered, perfectly fried, and loaded with fresh, tender mushrooms. We also had the peri peri chicken and Lily's Bowl with tuna, both packed with flavor and made with fresh ingredients. For great food, friendly service, and a relaxed atmosphere, Lily's is hard to beat. Highly recommend. read more

Saturday morning brunch and we picked the right place! We were sat in the shade on the patio, without a wait. We started with espresso martinis and they were spot on! The food came out hot and correct and the service was great. They put a pound of potato's on your plate, four stars because the seasoning in both dishes I tried was lacking and I felt something was missing in the hangover bowl but overall this place is a gem! read more

Love Lily's. Such a down-to-earth, unpretentious, cozy little place right in the Oregon District. Their menu changes frequently, which we love, so you might not find the thing I had when you go there. I had the spicy miso maple glazed salmon, or something like that. It was good. The salmon wasn't particularly spicy, but tasty nonetheless. It also could possibly have used some more sauce on top, or something to make it less dry. It came with funny-looking radishes, pickled ginger, lemon asparagus, and a tasty rice side dish. Great meal and great service. read more

Fun and cozy vibes! We came to Lily 's on a chilly November evening. The warm greeting from the bartender and fun tiki bar interior immediately made us feel welcomed. We chose to settle in the cozy bar area to dine. The deviled eggs of the evening was miso flavored. These were delicious! I chose the familiar sounding Shrimp and Stone ground Grits. Hubby chose the burger. Hubby loved his burger. My Shrimp n Grits was baffling: it was a big mound of stiff, dense Grits w sautéed shrimp and a lot of sausage on the side. There was a thin sauce, too. Not at all like the soupy, creamy version I've had all over the places...sad face. We would definitely return for the atmosphere, drinks and other foods, just not the shrimp n Grits. read more

We stopped in for breakfast. There was a front room with bar and it looked like another dining room to the left. The service was a bit weird. We stopped at the hostess stand and was asked if we had reservations (Sunday morning). We did not. We were then seated at a small table in the front room. A server came and we asked for coffee. It took a long time, and then we were brought tiny cups. She poured coffee. She did not come around with refills until later when we asked for more. It has a cute & funky decor and there was water on the table, which I liked. I had the Great Hangover Bowl. It had crispy potatoes and scrambled eggs with untoasted sourdough bread. It was pretty good, but I would probably go elsewhere for breakfast when in town. read more

Enjoyed a brunch here with several friends. Arrived closer to close than we had hoped but the staff was kind and didn't make us feel rushed while still getting us out at a decent time. Nice patio outside, homey bohemian feel inside. Food was excellent and several of us had leftovers. Fresh fruit was actually fresh, would definitely recommend. Only downfall was a slippery spot on the floor that tripped a few of us, one actually falling (we had not been drinking). Staff seemed pretty inconvenienced by this and didn't offer a verbal apology or a caution sign near the troubles spot. A few other tables commented and issue with the spot as well. read more

Hmmm. What can I say about the place. I waited awhile to be seated. It was odd when I was seated I was told several times by different waiters that water would be out. I felt a little rushed in deciding what I wanted to order. I chose the chicken sandwich and it tasted as if it was cooked in old oil. My boyfriend's burger was very salty. Overall, not a great experience. I don't think we will be back. read more

I was an amazing little restaurant in Dayton downtown. The whole decor ambience was really cool. Really loved it. The service was super quick limited menu amazing food. We ordered deviled eggs, breakfast burrito, veggie and mushroom veggie burger along with coffee. Everything was made to perfection the fries that came with the burrito and the burger were too salty, but other than that, everything was really good. The whole decor was amazing. especially in dining area restroom bar area everywhere. Everything was super clean. I recommend this place if you're in the Dayton, Ohio area. read more

Go all in and make a reservation!! My husband and I really enjoy our brunches at Lily's. The drinks are on point, the service is fantastic and the food is delicious. The vegan options are plentiful, which I appreciate because my husband likes their carnivore options so we both leave happy! I have ordered the vegan breakfast burrito, the vegan hangover bowl, and the poke bowl. All good options that I would order again based on my mood. He usually gets the chicken and waffle sandwich. The sugar pearls are something you have to experience! So fun! He also likes the chorizo burrito and devil eggs of the day! I enjoy the patio when the weather is warmer because it can get pretty loud inside but not unbearable. The staff are the friendliest and kindest!!! We cannot recommend Lily's enough! read more

I've been to Lily's a few times, once on the patio for drinks and twice for dinner. Would like to go back and try brunch. The people who run this restaurant seem so nice and dedicated and they really support the community. That keeps me coming back. The space is fun and eclectic, and the staff is always warm and welcoming. That is worth an extra star alone. However, I will say the primary reason we don't come more often is that we don't love the menu. It's sort of a mix between Louisiana comfort and Asian fusion. Nothing we've had has been poorly prepared, just not something we're in the mood for very often. We've had the fried chicken and burgers, both were good. The cocktails have also been good. As mentioned will definitely try brunch, but would love to see a menu refresh. read more

I made reservations for Lily's as soon as I saw a photo of their figgy pudding on instagram. I've never had figgy pudding before but I am now a huge fan! Basically it's gingerbread with caramel sauce. Absolutely divine! Before dessert my husband and I shared three of their appetizers. The bao buns and pork gyoza which are both favorites of ours and then we tried their rumaki which was delicious as well. Our server, Megan, was fantastic. She was friendly and attentive without hovering. I like cocktails on the sweeter side and when I asked if a specific drink was sweet, she ended up bringing a little extra simple syrup on the side in case I wanted to add it. We have been to Lily's many times throughout the years and have always had fantastic meals and very friendly and efficient service. One of our favorite restaurants in Dayton! read more

Perhaps my most favorite restaurant in this area. I love the unique cuisine and people that provide outstanding food and service. Everything is fun and delicious when I dine here. The only critique I have is that I would like the servers to proactively share about the quantity of the food items I order. My meal portion was small and I would have ordered something else had I known. Loved that we had the choice of dining inside or on the beautiful patio. We chose the patio and it was perfect for us. Look forward to our next visit. read more

We tried Lily's on a Sunday before heading downtown for a show, mainly because it was one of the few restaurants open on Sunday for dinner with pretty good reviews. The inside is small and eclectic -- main entrance opens to a small bar area with a few high tables. The main dining area is adjacent to this in a separate room. The menu is quite diverse in a good way. Think Asian and American fusion with options like fried chicken, mac and cheese, shrimp and grits, poke bowls, stir fry, banh mi burger, bao bun sliders, and kung pao nachos. I was pretty torn with what to order, but opted to go with the 'double sticky country ribs and jumeokbap' at the recommendation of our server who said it was one of the best sellers. After one bite, I greatly regretted my decision. The ribs were so dry I could barely cut through them with a knife. It was as if they were cooked first thing in the morning, then sat under a warmer that evaporated all of the moisture. The chilled jumeokbap (Korean rice ball) had a weird flavor, but maybe I'm just not a fan of chilled rice. As someone who's not a huge veggie person, it's sad when the best thing on the plate was the sautéed bok choy. In hindsight, I shouldn't have ordered ribs at a non-BBQ restaurant. Oh well, lesson learned. Our server was nice, but the service was pretty slow and it took almost as much time to get our check as it did for the food to come out. Overall, it could've been better. read more

We popped into Lily's Bistro for a late lunch on a sunny Saturday afternoon. Situated in the Oregon District, the location offered convenient parking and a vibrant atmosphere. Arriving later in the day allowed us to be seated and served quickly with refreshments and beignets. My wife enjoyed a Bourbon Sunset, which truly tasted like a resort cocktail, while I enjoyed a classic Old Fashioned made with New Riff Rye. The beignets, dusted with sugar and served with raspberry jam, provided a good start For our main dishes, we chose the Lox Bagel and a Poke Bowl with salmon-- a tasty alternative to the unavailable Ahi Tuna. The salmon was seared, remaining tender inside, and paired with avocados, jalapeños, pickled onions, and savory sauce. The Lox Bagel was a hit too, with smoked salmon, boiled egg, pickled red onions, and a smooth whipped herb cream cheese topping. The bistro also impressed us with their smashed potatoes, which were crunchy outside and smooth on the inside I highly recommend Lily's Bistro in the OD for anyone looking for a city brunch spot. The eclectic ambiance and excellent service, especially if Chuck is your server, are sure to enhance your experience! read more

I've been coming to Lily's for about 4 years. Typically, I sit at the bar and enjoy the company of their friendly and interesting staff, happy hour bites and delicious drinks. In the past year, I started going to their brunch. I had given up on brunch in recent years in other venues because, I felt like it was overpriced for eggs. In comes Lily's They have a truly unique selection on the weekends. I particularly enjoy the smoked salmon and bagel dish. Sometimes I order it with potatoes and other times with dressed greens. It comes with a delicious cream cheese and fried capers. Truly one of the best I've had anywhere. The building is also the coolest. The front bar and dining room are great for people watching. The back room is beautiful when the sun is coming in. There is a patio out front and I recently learned an even larger patio out back. There are a lot of options in the Oregon district, but I believe Lily's is a special place because it's a unique space for members of the community and is consistently serving innovative and varied new dishes. Special dinners, desserts, themed drinks based on events going on in the area. I hope to visit for many years to come!! read more

My partner and I ended up going here for brunch so this review reflects that. The food was delicious and came with a great presentation. The service was nice, accommodating, and quick to help us with whatever we needed. As for ambiance, Lillys harbors a very casual and natural vibe with its decor, foliage, and vibrant colors. I made a reservation for five people during their annual January oyster festival. It was our first time at Lily's, but after our experience, we will be back next time in Dayton. We arrived a few minutes early and were seated. The restaurant is a lot bigger than it appears from the outside. Lily's has a full bar and a creative cocktail menu. The hostess was excellent and checked in on us, and our server was personable and friendly. I started the night off with the Figgy-Espresso martini. It didn't disappoint and the fig syrup added something extra. The table ordered deviled eggs, Which was delicious and Aloo Tiki Potato 'Croquettes' which had an amazing Indian twist. We then ordered raw oysters with all the fixings - the Oysters were fresh and ready to slam back, and we did. We also ordered Lilys version of New Orleans Rockefeller oysters, altho these were a miss, it didn't dampen the experience. For dinner I ordered the Bahn Mi Wagyu Smash Burger - so freaking good. I did have to ask for more mayo, but that was a personal choice. read more

Went for dinner for an anniversary. My husband ordered the Japanese pot roast and I ordered the BBQ Mac and Cheese. The description for my dinner said slow-cooked beef and scallions. My food had an unusual flavor. I had my husband try it, and he said it was the same roast that he was eating. Whether or not it was good doesn't matter, the description of my food didn't say it used the roast from the Japanese dish. This is a big issue for anyone with food allergies, like soy. My son has allergies, and he would order a BBQ Mac and assume it is what it says. He would have had an anaphylaxis reaction if he had eaten this dish. Maybe someone got lazy and used the same pot roast, but this is a danger to your guests! Also, not a minor issue but there were swarms of gnats flying around us while we tried to eat. We won't be going back. read more

we had an amazing experience at Lily's! as a queer couple, the second we walked into the space we felt welcomed and excited for the meal. there are so many fun signs and flags, as well as beautiful plants and a very earthy feel. our server was very friendly and attentive, checking on us often and we never had to wait/track down on anything. the entire staff was friendly and light hearted. the food was exceptional, we got the cajun shrimp eggs Benedict (was a special) and the breakfast burrito with chorizo. excellent portions for a fair price. tons of vegan, gluten free, and NA options as well if you are looking for that. also, they make a note that they provide insurance and retirement funds to their employees which is rare and really special, good for them! read more

Great service, excellent food and drinks, and a wonderful atmosphere! I highly recommend. Lily's is a very charming little joint.

Despite plentiful and motivated staff, service was very slow, almost certainly held up by kitchen workflow, with the chef often choosing to serve customers himself and perseverate on menu details. Menu was disorganized far beyond even the expected eclectic vibe, with dishes from all culture in no particular theme, but in the end over-stating the dish. The "Karaage sandwich" just being a standard fried chicken sandwich; neither prepared as karaage nor spiced as such. The etouffee was extremely overseasoned. Could also benefit from another bathroom since, for the size of the establishment, a single unisex room is insufficient. For what it's worth, the service staff and doing their best and the bar service and mixed drinks were really good. Just seems like a lot of systems level/broad workflow issues with the place as a whole. read more

Lily's is such a gem! This is one of my favorite brunch spots in Dayton, but their dinner is top notch as well. They do a special Tiki Taco Tuesday menu that we loved! We started with the vegetarian nachos to share and didn't leave a single wanton chip on the plate. You do have to get three of the same tacos, but between our group, we tried the carne asada (my favorite!), pulled pork, and salmon tacos (the group's favorite). We also each got a sangria because your first one is only $1 when you dine in! Our server was great about telling us all about the specials that night. Also love the space! It's bright, colorful, and filled with plants inside. They also have 3 lovely patios for days you want to soak up more sunshine while you dine. read more

Service is unorganized. We came from Indianapolis and stopped by for brunch, our food took over an hour. We ordered biscuits and gravy, salmon eggs Benedict, chicken and waffles and shrimp and grits. The chicken breading was soggy, the biscuits and gravy was dry. When they brought our food out, they were unorganized and confused. Food was mid, there was a purple orange on the eggs benny that was inedible. The beingets texture were really good. And there is one bathroom, where there's always a line. read more

Service is a HUGE problem here! Servers are unprofessionally dressed, poorly groomed and unsuccessfully trained in restaurant hospitality, basic etiquette and protocol. Their management staff, owner, chef, and servers could NOT have been more accomodating, kind, and helpful/expediient communicators. And the food and beverages---OMG--- were incredibly delicious. We decided to try Lily's for brunch based on the menu, which had a lot of interesting options. I had the SLT&E and my husband opted for the omelet of the day. Unfortunately, we were both left feeling underwhelmed. The portions were smaller than expected for the price, and neither dish stood out as impressive. The service was lacking--our server was either over-taxed or inattentive. I had to get up and walk to the bar to grab a coffee refill for my husband. Also, a heads-up for anyone using a credit card: there's an additional 3% surcharge to help offset processing costs. It's not the biggest deal, but it's something to keep in mind. The atmosphere and menu have potential, but we won't be coming back. There are better brunch spots in the area that offer both great food and more attentive service. read more
