The food was so good! The fries reminded me of Hop Cat crack fries and I couldn't have eaten them faster. I went safe with the Lucky's Club and it blew me away. The proportions were perfect and the sauce was amazing! It also had a cool punk rock vibe. They weren't trying to be something they weren't. Decent service but I didn't expect anything different. They aren't trying to impress you there, just give you great food and some decent beer. Would have liked the beer more if they had more IPA options. We come here all the time! Love how many vegan options they offer. I usually get either the vegan chili or the vegan chicken and waffles. Today we also got the vegan chocolate cake and vegan falafel balls. The cake tasted differently than normal, which was odd. Not as good as usual. The falafel was so good though. Came here with friends because I was in town. So glad we did! My friends said Lucky's had amazing chicken tenders and I can confirm they were correct! I got the chicken tenders with bbq and a side of half sweet potato half regular fries. I also got ranch and southwest sauces on the side. The tenders tasted best with ranch and the fries slayed with the southwest sauce. So delicious I'll be thinking about those tenders for a while. The space was small with only a few tables. However the food came out quickly so I could tell the turnover doesn't take long so wait times shouldn't be too affected. The staff were all super friendly and accommodating. First & last experience We had lunch here today. It took 2 hours. There are three employees. When we arrived 4 tables were occupied and three people at the bar. The problem is mostly the kitchen. The server was great, but we had to wait 20 min to pay the bill, because she was busy with two tables (2:00 at this point) Spinach dip is great! Food is good! If I'm craving a hamburger, you can bet we are driving the 20 miles from Springboro to Lucky's! Their Cobra Burger is the best burger in Dayton! It has a Thai-style Marinade, with Peanut Butter, Fresh Cilantro, Cucumbers, Pickled Carrots, Jalapeños, and Sriracha Sauce. I've had peanut butter on burgers elsewhere but those are just a gimmick and don't have thought behind them. Thai food often has peanuts, so this combination makes sense and is fantastic! The restaurant itself is a bit of a hole in the wall. Nothing fancy but they have a lot of interesting and yummy sounding dishes, with many vegetarian and vegan options. I'd love to try other items but just can't pull myself away from The Cobra. They also have a good beer selection and the servers are friendly. Although Lucky's has only been open since 2011 it feels much older. In a good way. Located in the Oregon District in a non-distinct brick building the ambience is that of a welcoming, unassuming space where a person can hang out, catch up with friends, and eat some truly delicious food. What, you say? Food - delicious food - at a taproom? Oh yes. And also - delicious vegan and vegetarian food at a taproom. Let's talk more about this. Lucky's has an incredible selection of plant based offerings, with the additional option to adjust existing menu items to be plant based. They also have a dedicated prep station for non-meat items so prevent cross-contamination. One can substitute faux chicken, veggie turkey, a KBR Patty (kidney and black beans and rice), an Impossible burger, or seitan for many of the meat options. The jackfruit Reuben is veggie at baseline, but can be made vegan by substituting vegan cheese and vegan thousand island. We dined with my parents over a holiday trip, and although they're not taproom folks, both agreed their Model T Impossible burger, seitan gyro, sautéed green beans, and fries merited a return trip. My friend and I stopped here for dinner on a Saturday night. The bartender greeted us right away and was very friendly. When I ordered the veggie burger and skipped the cheese, she asked if I was vegan. She told me they have both vegan cheese and vegan mayo. So I ended up with a housemade vegan cheeseburger -- and it was one of the best burgers I've ever had out! You could see the actual beans and rice. Dear Lucky's Taproom Management, I wanted to share some feedback about my recent visit on July 15, 2025, between approximately 1:30 and 2:15 PM (receipt time 14:15:32). While I generally enjoy the food and atmosphere at your establishment, I was somewhat disappointed by the service during this visit. The waitress who served me seemed more focused on chatting with friends at the bar than attending to customers. She spoke quite quickly, which made it difficult for me to understand her, and the overall interaction felt a bit distant and unwelcoming. What was most upsetting, however, was overhearing her say, "F* this guy. He looks pissy," shortly after serving me. I can't be completely sure it was directed at me, but given the timing, it certainly felt that way and made the experience uncomfortable and disrespectful. I left the tip line blank and wrote the exact total amount on my receipt to reflect my dissatisfaction with the service. Wow! We got lucky at Lucky's. Visiting from California. Always looking for veggie options. How often do you find a local bar, with 20 choices of draft beer, and vegan options? First. Our server, TAYLOR was the best. So friendly, patient, accommodating, and fun. She made our meal experience. The selection of beers is impressive, and Taylor helped my decision with giving me samples of beers. I went with the Imperial Head Hunter and was happy as can be with this IPA, The food? Incredible. We started with mozzarella sticks and faux chicken tenders as appetizers. Both were great. The mango habanero sauce is more sweet than spicy. But both the cheese and chicken tenders were wonderful. Our appetizer +, was the tequila vegan chili. We don't find veggie chili very often, but this was prepared with veggie chili, beans and soyrizo. It was wonderful. My wife chose the jackfruit Reuben sandwich. Those of us that are vegetarian, miss favorites like Reuben sandwiches. This jackfruit Reuben met the challenge. Delicious and plentiful. I had the Fierro burger with an impossible patty. Definitely not as spicy as I wanted, but delicious nonetheless. Wow, I've been neglecting Lucky's for 2.5 years and now I've received the luck that lucky provides. Yea, get excited your luck is about to change, but just for your taste buds, which I mean is still worthy of excitement. Lucky's doesn't look like anything special, so don't judge a restaurant by it's look (or a person for that matter), but give it a go and enjoy. Where Lucky's strikes it rich is where all restaurants strive to strike it rich and that is their menu. The menu they have and I love is that it's so unique, burgers with peanut butter, vegan meals, not just grilled cheese but pesto grilled cheese. Falafel (I mean when was the last time you saw a menu with grilled cheese and falafel on it) is so so good, plus hummus, the diversity (or randomness) of the menu makes Lucky's sparkle, each entree has such a uniqueness to it (not a weird uniqueness), but just enjoy of a little added ingredient here or there that it sticks out that it makes you go, of course that extra ingredient would make it that much better. So when you have a chance give Lucky's a go, they do have a patio in the summer and a small parking lot in the back that fills up fast. Their beer menu is awesome too and their service is great, Chuck was always checking on us, but being pushy but just to let us know she was thinking about us. Luckys is amazing every day BUT today. I called at 8:31 and was told it would be 20 min. I arrived there at 8:49 willing to wait a bit and paid and ended up waiting an additional 26 min from my estimated time. The server claimed she was "slammed" but the same 16 people were in the entire establishment. Nothing crazy. As a server/ bartender i have knowledge and experience of what BUSY can truly be. The bartender was taking care of 7 of those 16 heads so im not sure how she was so busy while not a single other to-go order was done in that time. I'm not sure if she needs help or forgot my order? but the worst part was the WHOLE wait only to get a microscopic portion of the Up charged sweet potato fries. Not to mention they were a diff temperature than the burger itself. What a waste. Tragic. Usually I rave to out of towners where I work, about Luckys, but today was a showcase of how maybe it's not as great as it used to be. Lucky's is a great dive type bar and restaurant in the heart of the Oregon District. My friend and I stopped in last night and had a terrific brew and burger. I started with the Paradise Grapefruit IPA. Don't let the name fool you, it doesn't actually taste like grapefruit. It's a nice hoppy floral IPA, definitely worth the try. As an appetizer we had the fried pickles. They were amazing but the horseradish sour cream to dip them in was the real winner!! We both had the Cobra Burger and wow was it bursting with flavor! I wasn't sure about peanut butter on a burger and was totally surprised by how well it works. Also, I love my burger cooked more on the rare side and this one was cooked to absolute perfection. Found this great little pup after purchasing my new truck at a local dealership. Was very surprised to find a hole in the wall pub with tons of amazing vegan food options. The bar inside is pretty dark with low ceilings, definitely giving it that whole in the wall feel. But the service, food and beer is amazing! Great local Ohio craft beer selection and great booze selection as well. The staff was great and fast on their feet. Only issue we had was the parking lot, its small and a little tricky to get in and out, so if it looks full just find somewhere to park nearby. Definitely coming back here read more

We stopped here to grab dinner in the middle of a long drive. It is in a very cute refurbished area of downtown Dayton. The food was very tasty and thoughtfully prepared. My husband had a burger, which he enjoyed, and I had a Cobb salad. Everything in the salad was very fresh and topped off with homemade dressing. I really enjoyed it. Lucky's is a bar that serves your typical bar food in Dayton. It has burgers and other food like fish and chips. I went here with a group. It was the second or third time I have been here and I always thought the burgers were good. This time I ordered the Goat burger - it was a little bit expensive at $16.5. It was not a bad burger but it was a little bit dry. The burger felt slightly cold too - I think it should have had some kind of sauce to go with it. The goat cheese and avocado weren't enough. I added on some ketchup. I mean, a smashburger burger is even a bit hotter/juicer than the one I got, and it was not $16.5. The burger "came with" a side of the soup of the day which was actually not really a soup. It was more like a stew. I wish the waiter had clarified this. Also, I felt like this was a little bit of a tricky tactic as the waiter asked about what side I wanted and gave a list of options. I assumed that this came with the burger, because some options were a side of fries, chips, etc (things that typically come free with a burger!). But to my surprise this "soup" was an extra $2.5. I think this should have been more clear that it was extra. The curry stew could also have been a little saltier. I tasted a friends chicken and waffles. The waffle was a little too soft and spongy instead of having a light outer crispiness. Overall this wasn't bad - it would have been a 4 stars, but I was disappointed by the value of the meal at Lucky's Taproom. read more

This place has *tons* of vegetarian options and all of them are so delcious. Not just salads (although the salads are pretty tasty too). I personally like their impossible burgers best out of the vegetarian options. The best thing at Lucky's is 100% the fries. Both the sweet potato fries and regular fries are to die for! Make sure you get some of their homemade sauces to dip in too. Only complaint I have is that food takes quite a while to come out, but they say they cook everything fresh so that may just be a result of that. read more

Was looking for a local place offering vegan and gluten free options and this menu looked amazing. When we got there around 9pm, it was very dark, bar-like. Fine for myself and hubs. The tables were very sticky, which the waitress wiped down for us and said it was the finish (which I understand but it feels icky!). Drink options were great.. they have Glutenberg yellow can! Exciting for us gluten free folks. And cider, as well as plenty of beer options. Hubs ordered the pasta with faux chicken and he loved it! It was spicy but he enjoyed it. I ordered an Impossible Burger on the gluten free roll (up charge of $2.50) with green beans. The beans were cooked perfectly, crisp and flavorful. The burger and toppings were tasty... but that bun was horrendous! I picked up the sandwich and the whole bun/roll crumbled! It fell apart into pieces I couldn't even eat with a fork because it crumbled if you tried. We talked to the very lovely waitress about it and she said they are made from scratch. I totally understand how making from scratch can be good but in this case, it was just not good :( .. no offer to take off the up-charge when I showed her. I may come back and try other options, as there are plenty! Eric for the win!! We had the greatest service this time around! We usually sit at the bar and are sometimes disappointed by the service, sometimes the server, sometimes the kitchen. Last night though- Eric was ON IT! We really enjoy Luckys. The fresh food is a nice break from other places highly preserved food. This time while we were there, I had the Cobb salad, it was great. The plate is full! If you're a salad person, there may not be enough lettuce. I am and I was wishing for more to go with all the good stuff left on top. My boyfriend's favorite here is the Cobra. LOVED our dinner here!! We were on a roll two weeks ago on a rare (should go more often!) visit to Dayton's Oregon District. Found great parking (rare!), quick and easy seating (ever more rare!!) and all around great service (woo hooo!!) on a late winter/early spring Saturday evening!! Once we finished up at Toxic Brewery (check it out!!) we were looking for a place for dinner, and were pretty sure we'd be battling HUGE crowds no matter where we chose to go in the area. We got LUCKY at Lucky's (ha!) however, and grabbed one of the last available seats, and the rest of our dinner there went just as well!! You would have thought we planned it all out, but naaaaaaaah, just luck of the draw!! Lucky's has an AWESOME menu, along with especially interesting looking veggie and GF choices. I could have gone that way, but instead went with the chicken and waffles, which were PERFECT!! They make a mean chicken tender here, and that's what they used on both my chicken and waffles and Bob's tenders and fries. The powdered sugar on mine might not have been necessary, but looked pretty... Quick, friendly service, and very reasonable prices!!
