Monster Pizza My dear wife reminds me that we have not had pizza since before Thanksgiving. Never ever purchase frozen cardboard pizza, and given years of exploring area pizzas, we have a Top Three pizza favorites. The downtown Bellbrook pizza does not open until 4:00PM, and the nearby Chicago style pizza place is relocating to Clyo Road. Monster Pizza has merited our business for years. We received 14" of snow on Sunday, and driveway is cleared on Tuesday. I love winter, snow, and cold, but not ice. Roads are clear on Wednesday. January 25, 2026 offered the delights and challenges of early winter snow and ice storms. Mother Nature is Impressive; loved the fourteen inches of powder snow in January. Ron's Viking and Norman blood welcomed the enchantments of a northern winter. January 25, 2026 witnessed a national and South West Ohio major snow event of 14" and zero temperatures for a week or longer. This Grand Nature event reminded Ron of epic Ski Resort visits in New Mexico, Arizona, California, Utah, Oregon, Washington, Whistler, Snowshoe,.... Given the thrill of skiing, the low temperature and deep snow are welcome. From age 12, I regularly installed sawdust tires on family cars; I was a huge fan of studded tires, and now insist on AWD. The short drive to Doubleday's was uneventful, and there were few drivers on the road. Doubleday's offers an excellent pizza, and my wife prefers the Voodoo Veggie with tomato sauce and regular crust. She is not disappointed with this pizza. The parking at Doubleday's is snow cleared, and the young lady delivering the pizza to the car is enthusiastic and excellent - she merits an additional tip. read more

We got take out from Doubleday's over the weekend, and unfortunately had a lackluster experience yet again. We placed an order for four people that included a fish sandwich, malibu melt, buffalo chicken quesadilla and the boss italian flatbread. They usually bring take out orders to your car, but did not have that available the day we ordered so we were told to pick up the food at the bar. The only problem was, they didn't have the bar staffed and we ended up standing awkwardly at the corner of the bar waiting for someone to acknowledge us, which took far too long and most other employees would make eye contact and then look away as if it wasn't there job to assist us. Strike 1. After about 5 minutes somebody came out of the kitchen asking if we had a take out order, then she heads back to grab it and we went on our way. However, when we got home and unpackaged the food, we were missing an entire entree (the italian flatbread). Strike 2. I called to inform them of the problem and that I would be back shortly to pick it up. When I arrived, it was about another 5 minutes of waiting at the bar before being acknowledged. This was becoming infuriating. Eventually, I got the flatbread and headed back home to my family who had already eaten their food. The most frustrating part of this ordeal was that I never received even a simple "Sorry about that" from anyone at Doubleday's. Strike 3. Since Doubleday's branding is rooted in baseball themes, I'm sure they'll understand that my experience was literally three strikes, and now they're out -- I won't be returning. read more

Service wasn't great; the bartender was concentrated on the bar regulars, so I didn't get a few things I requested. The chicken Santorini, on the menu, sounded amazing, but was surprisingly bland. The mashed potatoes and gravy were amazing! I may have to go back just to get some mashed potatoes and gravy to-go. read more

When I am close to Dayton I go out of my way to stop in and eat. The food here is always well prepared and tastes great. It is the place the locals go to, you can just tell it. Servers are always very pleasant and service is quick. Their cocktail selection is great. My favorite is the vodka cucumber mint drink. The frozen peach Bellinis are also really really good. I love their salads. The garlic base for pizzas is amazing and their ranch is so good. Can't wait to try more from their menu! read more

I ordered a meal from here to be picked up from their carry out area of the parking lot. The time stamp fot it being ready was 7:44 pm. I waited for 10+ minutes and decided to go inside. I was directed to the bar and the baetender asked for my order number or name. I provided that information and she went into the kitchen to retrieve my order. Over 5 minutes later she brought the order to me saying she had to prepare it. She also noted that on slow nights they didn't carry the food out. She also noted the carry out stopped at 8 pm. I was there 13 minutes before 8. There are many restaurants in a fivr mile radius. I will be taking my business to thise now rather than Doubleday's. read more

I have been ordering the house salad (cranberries, almonds, feta) for years biweekly, sometimes weekly. It was one of my all time favorite salads. Unfortunately, they have changed the type of lettuce on the salad. It tastes and looks like iceberg which changes the taste of the salad. It is hard to believe that kind of change could matter that much, but it does. I hope they change back. It was the best salad. It used to be my favorite restaurant. read more

A family owned restaurant that is a local favorite. A sports bar atmosphere with a large local following! Good food at good prices. During winter months my go to is their homemade chicken pot-pie and Roast beef hot shot. If you have a big appetite, the Cowboy Chicken sandwich is one of my favorites. I also recommend the BBQ ribs and my friends like their beer battered fish. Their pizza is a local favorite and good, however I prefer other local pizza over monster pizza. I've never been to the new store(used to be Outback?) so this was my 1st time here but have been to Doubleday's at its previous and Springboro'l locations a few time. This new store seems to be better laid out for the patrons and the staff. It seems a little darker and more 'bar like' than previous location Lunch was with dad and he wanted seats at the bar. Bartender was our server and she was very polite and attentive. Took our drink and food order in a timely manner. Food came out quick. Dad loves their chili here and usually gets with a grilled cheese. So he ordered us both chili and said he'd share the sandwich. Chili was pretty tasty, grilled cheese was okay. Not the best I've had, and for sure not the worst, but did pair well with the chili. I can see why dad loves this option. Bathrooms are way in the back corner. All was clean and tidy. Very well trained staff. It would be 5 star review if the fact that two bowls of chili and a grilled cheese didn't cost $30 before tip. Seems a bit much to me? read more

This is a solid comfort food stop. I will say most folks rave about the pizza here, and I haven't had a chance to try that myself. The atmosphere is nice and family friendly, and we've always had great service whether it was carry out or dine in. I've eaten a few items from Doubleday's and can confirm that most of the portions are crazy huge. For instance, we ordered a buffalo chicken sandwich on one occasion and it literally came with two fried chicken breasts larger than the bun. I find their salads come with way too much sauce/ dressing so I would recommend getting it on the side if you don't want your salad, swimming and dressing. But, it's worth noting that the chicken tortilla soup is very similar to the chicken tortilla soup that was served at Max and Erma's (which is super delicious, and super cheesy). The macaroni and cheese we've ordered is good, but very dense and the quesadillas are also very good and budget friendly. This is a solid dinner spot, depending on what you're in the mood for. But, overall a super good value for the portion sizes. read more

This place has been a Dayton staple for as long as i can remember. I am shocked i have never written a review for them. I love this place! Oddly enough, I never eat dinner here but i see it as one of the best lunch spots in town. They always have 6-8 house made soups, great sandwich options, I love their lean bowls, and the pizza is so good they basically made it a seperate company. They have made a lot of changes over the last few years. They moved to a new location in the same plaza. It's nice but I'm not sure what they gained because it seems about the same size. Maybe a better kitchen? They opened a second location in Springboro and have a sister restaurant (The Famous) in Centerville. I love all of them! They have the best ranch anywhere and you can buy it by the pint. I've been eating here for decades and I expect several more decades to follow. read more

I'm nuts about this place. My mom had outpatient surgery. What she wanted to eat after recovery was the potato soup from Doubleday's. We ordered it through DoorDash and found it was warm, rich, and satisfying. All of their salad dressings are wonderful (I hate ranch so can't vouch for it). The chicken pot pie is amazing too. Doubleday's is a popular neighborhood restaurant in Centerville. I had to squeeze through the crowd. The beer list is average, but the food is terrific. It seems like it's the most popular place in town because it can be so busy. This is much better at lunch or even on a weekend. It has a few drafts. I had a Yuengling beer. This about $3 for a pint. It seems they put more care into the food. That's ok because I was hungry and just wanted something to fill me up. I had the vegetable bowl. This is about $10 for a large amount of food. It comes with black beans. The vegetables include broccoli, mushrooms, and peppers. I came hungry. I left stuffed. The food is not to be overlooked. read more

Seniors beware! I usually order a rice bowl with veggies because of limited salt restrictions. In the past they have made it for us with fresh vegetables to support our dietary needs. Service was pretty good. Our server was attentive and polite. The food was only so-so though. Just got chip and salsa as the appetizer just for something to munch on since they were busy. Chips were bland and salsa had no heat. I got the sirloin medium with brussels sprouts and onion rings as my sides. Sirloin wasn't cooked evenly through as some areas were well done and some were medium. Brussels we're decent though.
