We thought the food was average. Service was nice. The people are nice. It is a cozy diner kind of place. One person got the buckeye brownie and said was good. Another got the strawberry ice cream and it was terrible. Lots of artificial pink color making it look clownish. Better ice cream at the average grocery story. Food was average at best. First time here and my family and I really enjoyed it ! I had the all you can eat fish which came with fresh cut fries (they have malt vinegar ) and it was very good. Wife had a bacon cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and caramel And my daughter had the Belgium waffle with bacon The both enjoyed their meals but the bacon was chewy like it had been microwaved almost like a bacon jerky The wait staff was very busy as it was a Friday night but they were still very pleasant and helpful . Not particularly friendly, I would give them a C. Again, you go to a restaurant for the food at the end of the day... I drove approximately 20 miles one way to check out their biscuits and gravy and boy was it a disappointment. Their sausage gravy was semi thick with some texture to it and chunks... But all of the sausage in the gravy was burnt. I mean I was having to pick burnt sausage out of my teeth and spitting it out of my mouth. The owner came over and shared some local history with us and we had a nice chat. The decor is mostly all antiques & dine up very well. Very clean & a friendly atmosphere. Hubby had a pancake that was so big it barely fit on the plate, 2 eggs & bacon. I had the bacon & cheddar omelet with a side of hash browns. Food was good _ not greasy at all. Had the fried mushrooms with horseradish dip, surf and turf (6 oz. ) and my husband had the chicken parm, all good and a great value ! We ate that plus dessert and a hand squeezed (yes, seriously .. I saw the waiter do it) for $43!!!!! Where can you do that anymore? Our waiter was a absolutely a gem of a person and a consummate professional. Unexpected for his age and how small of an operation. The prices for the burgers are decent -around $4 - $7. The range has the usual suspects. What's different are some of the extras. Like how the steak fries are slightly swirled rather than straight and the peanut butter/maple dipping sauce for the sweet potato fries. I have had lunch here a couple of times. The food is poorly plated and service pretty slow for as small of a place this is. Things like burgers are ok but have not found any dinners I like. The fried mushrooms were rancid tasting, our salads were nothing but some lettuce with a couple pieces of carrot, and I waited 20 minutes for my entree while my wife ate hers. They ran out of their special which was chili spaghetti, and instead of my waitress letting me know, they told me when my wife's food came out and not mine. The chili was bland with zero taste, and the noodles were not done. The waitress was more interested in talking to coworkers and kitchen staff than checking on us, we never even got a refill. And to top it off, after I waited 20 minutes for the Chili Spag, one of the cooks kept looking through the window at me eating it. Not sure if they messed with it or what. I was skeptical to choose a "grill" for breakfast, but after seeing some pictures of food and good reviews I decided to give Brookville Grill a try. I ordered a breakfast special (eggs, bacon, home fries, toast) and everything was perfect, not to mention it only took ten minutes to pick up (and only cost $5)! The staff was very friendly and couldn't do enough for you. They offered salt, pepper, ketchup, hot sauce, plastic ware, napkins, everything you could need.
