This establishment is now known as Hank's Local. I recently ordered carry out via DoorDash and I was pleasantly surprised. I ordered the Flyer Patty Melt and well done and upgraded to a side of Chili Cheese Tots. The Flyer Patty Melt was very good. A true patty melt burger on rye bread with Swiss cheese, sautéed red onions and a light sauce similar to thousand islands salad dressing. The rye bread was grilled nicely, and the burger fried well done as requested. It was a very good patty melt burger and is a generous portion. The upgrade of the Chili Cheese Tots, was loaded with cheese and chili. It's a meal in itself truthfully. The chili wasn't evident upon first looks, but it is underneath the cheese. Hank's did a good job of layering the chili and cheese on these tater tots. It is messy, and will require utensils but the tater tots were really good. Overall, I give Hank's Local 4.5 - 5 stars. Food was packed very carefully and Hank's included plastic utensils and ample napkins. I highly recommend and would love to try some of their other food. read more

Loved the food, Saturday 2 NY strips 8oz for 29.99 each entree with two sides (what a Saturday special). For sure need to come back when it's warmer and check out their room with the garage door. Looks like you could also book the room for a private event possibly. Clean and enjoyable, ice crown on a Saturday night. We'd go back for sure, just be patient with that service, it was slow and had to give a free reminders for things. It's all good we can be gracious and accept that things aren't perfect. I've been a semi-regular for a couple of years now. Yesterday was the first time I've eaten outdoors in the newly renovated space. My only complaint is that there is no way to separate the smoking area and nonsmoking area. It wasn't a problem yesterday as there were few smokers. I'm not especially sensitive to smoke but if you are be aware of that issue. I took a buddy who was new to Hank's. He was very impressed with the black/bleu burger. Well I can certainly see why there are more negative reviews of Hanks lately. Service and food has gone downhill. I've been a handful of times since my first review, and it got worse every time. Today I went to brunch with a group of friends, our server said it was her first day so we were extremely understanding. But for whatever reason we waited 2 hours for our food, while the rest of the tables sat, ordered, ate and left. Some items were never even brought out. The food was disgusting. My pancake was hard and full of grease. My egg tasted like it was cooked on the floor. it was also cold. And looking at other items on the table, I wouldn't suggest the pizza or brunch tacos or biscuits and gravy to anyone. I'd rather eat Waffle House sober then ever eat brunch at Hanks again. read more

Honest thoughts on Hank's Local. We ordered them via one of the delivery apps for dinner on Friday and it was insanely good. I had the fish and fries, best fried fish I've had in Dayton. My husband ordered the "roots mac" that came with pulled pork. We also ordered the Big Sky pretzels with bier cheese and everything was wonderful. This morning we tried to grab breakfast at Tank's but there was an 1.5hr wait, so we decided to stop in at Hank's to try their brunch. Great Bloody Mary. I ordered the farmer's breakfast with eggs over easy. My husband ordered the loaded biscuits. Food came out quick. Husband's food was decent, if only a bit too cheesy. My eggs were made scrambled, not over easy as requested, but I was not going to say anything because it's not a big deal. However, took a bite of my sausage to find it was raw inside. Pretty unappetizing. Kindly let the server know when he came back over, mentioned the egg thing but said I wasn't even going to say something about that part, and we didn't even receive an apology. He kind of looked at me like I was Karen-ing out or something. I opted for them to not remake anything because at that point after taking a bite of raw pork and how nonchalant he was, I didn't want to eat to be honest. When we were trying to leave all he said was "sorry you're leaving hungry." Super disappointed in how it was handled. We will likely try them again for dinner because that was very good. Visited on a weekend mid-evening with friends while visiting into town. The unassuming exterior had us almost drive by and miss. A band was playing on the patio but not inside. Food was 4/5, service was 4/5, atmosphere was 2/5. We sat inside and enjoyed the air con. One server seemed to be covering the whole place, but was doing a fantastic job running around. We sampled several of the signature items, rinds, nachos, pretzels, and pastrami. The nachos with pulled pork (recommended by the server) will have us wanting to stop by on our next visit. The chips are homemade and the loads of cheese and pulled pork made the dish grand. The pork rinds and pretzels were good, but not that memorable. The pastrami was unique, including "wings" of cheese crisped on the sides of the sandwich. A memorable and tasty crunch to the sandwich! The sandwich felt light, and makes me want to order "double meat" next time, but otherwise good flavor. The inside atmosphere was bland, but the band was jamming outside. When we come back, hopefully it will be cooler weather and we can enjoying sitting by the live music (inside the music was not broadcasted). read more

The servers were all helpful and engaging. The FOOD - was fabulous!! I had the fish tacos and I'd say they are the best I've had in Ohio. My husband had a burger that was delicious. The fries could have been more crisp but were ok. My friend had a huge bowl of macaroni and beer cheese with pulled pork that looked amazing and will be what I order next time!! We ordered through DoorDash, we actually scheduled our order ahead of time before they opened so that way we could get our order in. We tried ordering from them a week prior on DoorDash but had our order cancelled and we were told that it most likely was because they got busy and when they get busy they cut off DoorDash, even though we had placed our order 10-15 minutes after they had opened. We did have a large order, but we called to make sure they received it and luckily they did. I figured it'd take a moment to get everything because we had a few items being delivered. When we got our food, we got it around the time it was scheduled for, which is great. But when going through everyone's orders, there were some issues. One of the orders was the Parmesan chicken Mac and cheese. It had spilled over while in the bag and the cheese sauce seeped out from the box and all over on the inside of the bag. My co workers who got meals that came with fries-their fries were all cold and hard and did not taste fresh at all. I had gotten the Cobb salad and asked for no ham and no blue cheese crumbles with ranch instead of the blue cheese dressing. One of my other co workers got the same, but she kept the ham and blue cheese crumbles on hers. When I opened mine up, I still had ham in it, but I figured it wasn't that big of a deal and wasn't upset with it. I was just happy that I didn't have any blue cheese on mine. I ate a good portion of my food and then I discovered something in my salad that literally made me jump because I didn't know what it was. It's hard to describe what it was, but I showed my co workers and they all asked the same thing I had asked myself, which was, "what the heck is that?" It didn't match with anything in the salad. I took a picture of it and sent it to my fiancé. It was a grey-ish color and kinda hard, but it had a weird texture to it. Needless to say, I couldn't eat my salad anymore and just felt totally turned off and disgusted. None of us were really happy with our food, and even more so of the money we spent on it hoping it would be good. We really hoped it would've been good because a lot of the items on the menu sounded absolutely delicious. I have lived in the area for a hot minute. This place is often looked over because it doesn't seem like much when driving by. We stopped in once just out of curiosity, now it's probably my favorite place in the area. I've never had anything bad here. All the sauces are house made and AMAZING. Reallllyyy good seafood for such a small joint. It's family owned & ran. Great live music and a good atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out if you have not been yet. Won't be let down! read more

This place is called Hank's Local now and was completely cleaned up and remodeled during the pandemic. Spruced up completely from dingy dive to clean and comfortable restaurant with a bar. The daily and weekly specials are fantastic. Butternut squash was the most perfectly caramelized. It tasted like bonfire marshmallows. I like to describe this place as elevated bar food. Stone fired pizzas, delicious salads, big burgers and one of the best Caesar salads I've had. The sirloin steak was very good but next time I'll get it medium. The loaded pub fries are not to be missed!! The wings are tasty and big. I've only tried a couple wing sauces but the Hell's sauce is actually pretty spicy and is my favorite. They do karaoke and have a large patio as well. Super fun, family friendly neighborhood restaurant. As well, the homemade cinnamon roll that comes up on special is divine and reminds me of Cinnabon read more

My only suggestion is if you actually go to this bar make sure you ONLY PAY IN CASH!!! Recently went there and our account was charged $2500.11 for a single pitcher of beer even bough our receipt only said $7.50. Especially if Tina is your bartender, this would be the second time she has wrongly charged our debit card. Still no response from the owner ever though we have called multiple times. So the Dayton Foodies (Uncensored) Facebook group raves about this place. So, because there aren't that many consistently good places to eat, we were looking forward to this. It went as follows: Warm beer. My hamburger was cooked perfectly. That is the one good thing. It had just been cooked 15 minutes or so before I got it. My partner's fried chicken sandwich was the same temperature wise. She found it to be too salty and the jalapeños were a surprise. She was told the "spicy" part came from the sauce. Not entirely. The fries. They were cooked at some point in the day, probably well before we even ordered them. Cold, hard as a rock and no seasoning. We sent them back and we were upgraded from stone cold to lukewarm. Woot! Also...that $4 coleslaw was the worst thing I ever tried to eat. So I quit trying. We were hoping to like this place. But there's really not much to like. The jukebox was out of order, the Ohio Lottery machine was out of order...our food order took forever and most of it wasn't fit to eat. read more

Have lived in this area for a lot of years, literally right down the road from Hank's Pub and had never been there until recently. If you're looking for a trendy bar that serves fancy mixed drinks and has a vast selection of craft beers on tap, Hank's isn't your place. What Hank's is though is a really solid neighborhood bar with super friendly bartenders, friendly crowd (when there is a crowd), lots and lots of dart boards (cork boards, not the crappy electronic type!). There are some times when you can go into Hank's and there will only be one or two other people in the bar, other time they have karaoke (Friday nights), some nights they have a blues band, or other type of band playing, and they have quite a few dart leagues that play there as well. Hank's is our new favorite local / neighborhood watering hole type place, nothing fancy, just a good place to throw a few darts, drink a few beers, and hang out with friends. Oh, and a big plus is that they don't allow smoking inside the bar like many of these neighborhood bars do. They do have a really nice patio out back for smoking, but not inside. So while part of me wants to not tell anyone about Hanks Pub so it'll stay hidden for a few more years, the other part of me didn't think it was right not to write a review about a great local hangout. So there ya go, if you're looking for a no frills place to grab a beer or a really strong jack and coke, this is the place! read more
