There were 6 of us for this visit. Most of the food was good. The salad entrees are huge! If you get one you'll be taking some home. The potato salad was unusual and tasty. Burgers and sandwiches were small. They do have more beverages than beer. There are wine choices and some cocktails. I would not recommend the bread pudding, it was dry and no sauce, just some sliced apples on top. Our server seemed to be not interested in serving us and was lukewarm at best. She did nothing wrong but it just seemed like we were a burden.

In Q1 of 2025, Carillon Brewing underwent an overhaul of its kitchen and teamed up with Dayton Barbecue Company. We visited recently to try some of the BBQ. The building is really cool and full of history. There is plenty of space indoors, including an upstairs loft area and separate room on the main level for events. They have a small beer garden in the back with outdoor seating. We tried two classics, a pulled pork sandwich and brisket sandwich. For sides, we went with fries and mac & cheese. There are three different BBQ sauces -- regular, spicy, and mustard based. Unfortunately, the food was quite a let down. BBQ was mushy, lacked flavor and tasted like something you would get from a baseball game -- I call it "ballpark BBQ". Sounds good and looks alright, but tastes like it was microwaved out of a bag. The fries were the highlight, as they had a nice crisp. The sauces were pretty good, and I preferred the mustard based one. The staff was friendly and we enjoyed the ambience/decor, but the food just didn't do it for us.

Stopped in during a bike ride with my BFF. We stopped in for a beer and some fries. We were seated as soon as we walked in. The service was excellent and we took advice about what to get and share. We got the loaded fries and a beer. Both were very tasty and I will be happy to come back even if driving a car. Definitely worth the beer and BBQ.

Thought this would be a cool destination, but I've never been so annoyed with service that I couldn't enjoy lunch with friends. Noon Weds 11/5 Wanted to order Chili - No Chili. No mac & cheese. Ugh. Ordered the sharable loaded fries for $15. Server said, sorry, No Chili so those aren't available. But the description doesn't mention Chili? Oh ok you CAN order them! Ugh. Brought our sodas & a ginger ale. Finally he comes back to take our order. What about our fries i ask? He goes to the kitchen. Sorry the chef had 3 salads to make, he's working on the fries now. Ugh. We place our lunch order. $19 Brisket Sandwich $14 half rack ribs Ribs $2 Jalapeno biscuit $6 each, 2 Roasted Brussel sprouts $6 Collard Greens SEE PHOTOS 30 mins later we get our loaded fries, its small for $15. not very hot. UGH He dissappears, we need silverware, they are very cheesey UGH. Finally he Brings Lunch. Leaves. We notice sides are wrong. Need to flag him down.UGH Ribs are a nice portion & delicious $19 Brisket Sandwich is very small but really good. Brussel Sprouts excellent Collard Greens too salty to eat. Server, he never comes back to refill sodas until we flag him down to ask for the check and a box for my ribs. Brings the check, not the box UGH $97 Lunch not worth it. -Service terrible -Long waits for food when there were only 4 tables of people. -Nope. I will not return

I've been craving brisket and my boyfriend suggested this location at the best in Dayton. We were and I loved the ambiance and old time feel of the place. I rated it 3 stars because the brisket is amazing. Why it's not 5 stars is because we found plastic in our greens and no one really cared. I captured a pic of the Mac and cheese that was runny. We were told the mac took too long to cook in the stove so they choice to cook the macaroni on top of the stove. It's extremely disappointing because the base is good. The dismissal we received regarding our recommendation was dismissed. I recommend the brisket. There was also an historic area. It was definitely something.

Carillion Brewing is just one of the features in Carillion Park located near Dayton, OH. The park museum features many exhibits and displays. You'll need several hours to cover the entire place. The museum features exhibits from the many industries that flourished in the Dayton area. Cars, machinery, scientific research organizations, cash registers, etc, etc. There is a operating merry go round inside for the kids and an outdoor train ride that takes about 15 minutes to travel around the perimeter of the park. Several restaurants are available and one features an operating brewery. Plenty of free parking. Many historically important structures have been relocated here and it is the home of the Wright Brothers Museum which is run by the National Park Service. The admission fee is $15 for adults and $12 for seniors.

It has been a long time since I tried this place. New ownership of fabulous location. The food is a marked improvement and the service was very prompt. the burnt ends were very good. The beers I tried a flight were a bit of a disappointment. They were average at best

Love the outdoor seating where you can sit and watch the train go by at Carillon Park. Several beers on the menu as well as some sodas made in house. There is a food menu and we opted for a quick snack of a pretzel which was nice. Loved being able to stop here after our visit to Carillon Park

The #1 wings in Dayton. :)

Love the establishment! Super happy that Eric of Dayton Barbeque Company was taking over the menu at Carillon Brewing because I've enjoyed the brisket we've picked up when they were located closer to our home at HVO. So we we went there earlier in the year when they had their warm opening and enjoyed every bit of it but.... I couldn't figure out how to write that review because it was early in the process and DBC and Carillon brewing were what appeared to be completely isolated. What brought me here this day were the wings! The lovely Mrs told me they won the #1 wings at this year's, "Kickin' Chicken Wing'fest' so I had to try them. Showed up mid day on Friday, sat at the bar and let's start out with I love how this place is set up. Very rustic and the aromas of barbeque smoking in the air are so pleasant. Bar tender was super friendly and attentive. For my order in and received quickly. They share the bottles of sauces to me but to me, I am there to just enjoy the smoked wings.... they were a little dry but, seriously tasty!! Were they my all time favorite wings? Nope, but I've been to some of the best in the country. These would be for sure in the top 5. Will I go back? Yep! but for the brisket and pork belly. Support local folks!

A++++++. Amazing Berndt ends. Salad amazing too. Highly recommended. Best place I've been to in several months.

Such a great atmosphere and delicious food. The manager was especially nice and had fun chatting with my boys- challenging my oldest to eat all his chicken strips! I highly recommend this place!!

Great place to grab a bite and a beer. The menu isn't large but it is high quality. Beers are made on site and are tasty. Decor is authentic and they brew beer like they did in 1860. Basically a throwback to frontier life. Staff was really nice and very efficient. Try this place. You'll be happy you did.

The Warsaw Medley had everything on it that my mother made each year for our traditional Christmas eve dinner. Stuffed cabbage (golumpki), potato pierogi, Polish style sauerkraut, and fresh (not smoked) Polish sausage. An NA beer went so well with it. Everything was delicious and so filling I could barely finish it. It also came with a salad to start. I chose the homemade blue cheese dressing that had lots of dill in it. Wonderful. I couldn't pass up the cherry almond bread pudding so got it to go to have for breakfast at the hotel the next morning. It's extremely sweet so could only eat half, but brought the rest home. The people who live here are lucky to have such an excellent restaurant! The staff is friendly and very attentive too. I hope to make it back again next time I'm in the area.

Potato pancake excellent , sausage mildly warm , sauerkraut hot and tasty , cabbage roll ,bland. Server/waitress (I sat at the bar) was excellent. Answered my questions and was not a bother but right at hand when I was ready to order. Neat old building. And a comfortable bar stool. A little pricey at $50.00 with tip for Eastern European peasants food. But we all know peasants produce the best food.

What a darling place! We were looking for a place to eat that was heading towards Indianapolis and…read morefound this restaurant. Hubs is from Germany so we thought we would give it a try. The restaurant sits on the Miami river which was very picturesque. They had a bier garden complete with a stage for live performances. We were waited on quickly and they carried Warsteiner, which we enjoyed! We had a friendly and efficient server. The first item we ordered was the Bavarian pretzel with bier cheese. The pretzel was a decent size and tasty. The bier cheese, however, missed the mark for me. It didn't even resemble any beer cheese I ever had. And unfortunately, I ordered my broccoli with that cheese! My husband ordered the Kaiser burger--which sounded substantial and delicious. And I ordered the Mettwurst and sauerkraut. The portion sizes were great! But let me just say--they are no Hofbräuhaus! Not at all! Not even close. The only thing I managed to eat was the Mettwurst and only a few bites and it wasn't that great. And then the potato pancakes? They were cold and tasted like they were fried in old oil. We were starving and disappointed. But coupled with fatigue we were just happy to have eaten and gotten on our way home. The restaurant was pretty packed by the time we left. And people seemed to be enjoying their food. So we may try it one more time--especially because the venue was very German inspired. Our bill came to about 100 with tip. Wished I could have given a better review--sorry!

We ate at the bar and were served by Jocelyn who was most amiable and helpful. She's been there 14 years and I learned the establishment is 2nd generation family owned, over 40 years in business. There are several small cozy dining rooms for larger groups, a main dining room, plus outdoor seating. The pork schnitzel was delectable, pounded thin, tender, right amount of breading, and the amazing schwine sauce on top which is apple cider vinegar based, perfect sweet/sour mix. Also on top comes bits of thick chewy bacon, and nice big slices of well cooked onion. It's a master dish. After I chose it, my husband ordered the same thing and we both loved the meal. The potato pancake is real German style, very dense but nicely seasoned. Add sour cream. They had 10 beers on tap and numerous bottled options. Full bar. Not a lot of wine choices but that is not a concern of mine. The atmosphere just screams BEER to me. Or, more accurately, BIER. I had a pint of Shiner Shandy which was cold and citrusy and perfect. We would gladly return, hopefully on a sunny day and take that beer outside!

The food was tasty and very filling. Service was fast and friendly. The decor was very authentic, they absolutely have gone to great lengths to capture the German look and feel of the place. I'm not up in Newport very often, but I definitely will be back and try some more of the menu. Maybe I'll try some of those pretzels next time, the next table over got some and they looked really good.

He ordered a pretzel for his starter which he gave a thumbs up. He described it as having a fermented sourdough taste which he really enjoyed. His main meal was a Hofbrauhaus Hot Brown which he described as very rich and dense definitely filling. I tried his dish and was very confused by the mix of flavors. I ordered the Rueben balls which I thought were nicely crisp on the outside but overly soft on the inside but it did taste very nice with the dip provided. I decided on the Munich Sampler which came with 2 sausages, a crispy fired pork chop with potatoes and sauerkraut. The pork chop was overcooked and dry although smothered with a mushroom gravy. The sausages were tasty but nothing special. Both sides were so heavily seasoned with vinegar I could not get through them. My husband even thought the sauerkraut tasted too vinegary but he loved the potatoes, polishing off what I had left on the plate. The service was great; prompt and polite. I would say if you like German cuisine this is the place for you! Quite authentic flavors. Just not my favorite.
