    Breakfast Burger with hash-browns.
    Taylor P.

My family and I visited here on a Sunday afternoon after seeing that the reviews were good. Probably should've looked further at the *years ago* reviews and not anything recent. To start, we parked in the back and there was no clear marked entrance. Ok easy enough walk to the front and pick a door. So we go in and it's empty, we exit and go in another door and there's people, but no one greeted us as we walked in, so we kept searching for a hostess stand or something that said seat yourself, but nothing. Finally a woman calls from across a bar "are you looking for a table?"... yes as I carry my baby and my toddler waddles behind. She points to the area we initially walked in and said "over there". Next, the table we sat down at was about to fall apart. Not a little wobble I mean the top of the table was about to disconnect from the leg thing. It was very quiet as we were the only people in there, and then mid meal they crank up some strange classic rock song. As a note, not a good place for kids as it is half a bar and just not very clean. As we sit, a waitress takes our order for water and was prompt with it, but we didn't see her again or anyone else for a good 15 minutes. We're patient and basically have entertainment because you can see most of the kitchen from our table. This includes the vast amount of low quality food ingredients not expected at a highly rated restaurant. It was all from Walmart (Great Value brand). I could buy this and make it at home. It also doesn't look like they are following any sort of health code. We watched the cook feverishly cook his brunch guests (I think there was maybe one other family but this dude was going ham). Very sweaty. Although he did have rubber gloves on, he proceeded to grab a sweat towel and wipe the sweat from his face and neck. We saw a waitress go back there and exclaim out loud how dirty it was and bacon bits were all over the floor. When our waitress finally returned we got a pitcher of water (our cups were all empty at this point) and ordered our food. It was nice to see the cook didn't skip a beat with his sweat wiping as we watched him prepare our gourmet meal. The breakfast burgers we got were actually tasty, but like I said low quality ingredients. The hash-browns were the great value precut frozen thrown in some vegetable oil, no seasoning or anything. Another person in my party got the breakfast quesadillas and said they were "okay". It didn't come with any sour cream, salsa or other toppings you might expect to go with it, just the same side of hash-browns. We were told there was only one waitress working, which means very slow service overall. She also dropped a random f-bomb in front of our kids. She was friendly, so I guess that's a positive. Overall, possibly the worst dining experience in the Dayton area and we will not be coming back.

I've wanted to stop here for a while because the guys at work talk about how great it is and the Yelp reviews support that. We had a couple IPA beers, the jalapeño poppers and each of us had the Maggie Burger Deluxe. First, the burger- it's EASILY in the top ten burgers in the Dayton area - easily. As you eat it it juices all over your hands with the things that make a great burger great! The bun is upscale and soft and complements this sandwich like Bonnie and Clyde. I asked for it medium and it came medium. This place knows how to make great burgers! Now, if your expecting soft music and expensive wine your in the wrong place. This is your classic dive bar that serves a killer burger. Oh, the poppers were just ok.

I ate at Maggies and I liked it. The burger was juicy, and potato babies aka fried potato wedges were good. The place is an old school house, so it's kind of cool. I would consider it a dive bar. That isn't a term I use in a bad way. Some of the nicest people, and best food can be found in a dive bar.

The husband-and-wife team behind Grist has created one of the most inventive pasta menus you'll find anywhere. It's casual--you order at the counter--but don't mistake that for ordinary dining. We started with the rosemary Parmesan focaccia and the cow's milk burrata. Both were excellent. The focaccia was simple, fresh, and perfectly executed, while the burrata was an absolute standout. For our entrées, we had the Mafalda al Agnello, Raviolo al'Uovo, Spring Pea Agnolotti, and Tonnarelli di Mare. Every pasta was handmade and beautifully prepared. The Mafalda stole the show, with wide, ruffled ribbons coated in an incredible braised lamb sauce. The Raviolo al'Uovo was unlike anything I've had before--a single oversized raviolo with remarkable flavor and a presentation that was as memorable as it was delicious. Grist is proof that great dining doesn't require white tablecloths. It simply requires talented people making exceptional food. We couldn't recommend it more.

The noodles had chili oil and cheddar-infused pork broth, Japanese fried chicken, bok choy, fresh corn, scallions, pickled bamboo, grated Parmesan, and black garlic oil. I really enjoyed the fried chicken and the cheese pull that the noodles had. The service was decent. I wouldn't say its anything to cry home about - at both the bar and the restaurant - but the staff was pleasant. I will say I was a bit concerned regarding the food safety at the Noods Bar. I noticed that none of the people preparing food were wearing gloves or a hair net. In fact, the young lady who took my order at the register was processing basil without gloves. What I found most alarming was when the time came for me to order, she simply put the basil to the side for a moment - took my order by touching the ipad and took my card for payment - and went right back to the basil without washing her hands.

First impression? It definitely gives off biker bar vibes from the outside, but once you step inside, it's way more welcoming and laid back than you'd expect. If you're making the trip to Buc-ee's and want something local instead of chain fast food, Rip Rap Roadhouse is definitely worth the stop.
