I really want to love Three Birds. It's close by, and Sueño is my favorite restaurant in Dayton. The space is beautiful and inviting. However the food just doesn't hit for me. I have been three times. Came once for the opening, I had the burger, my fiancé had a steak dish and we shared the hummus. The burger was good, but frites were dry and my meal was so greasy. My fiancé didn't love the steak. The hummus was good but served with spiced tortilla chips like Doritos. Would have been much better with pita bread or more veggies. The next time I came with a group of girl friends. We shared several small plates, including the corndog shrimp and the pimento cheese. I also got the Chopped salad for my main. Appetizers were very good, salad was just meh. Third time we came for an early dinner. I got the BBQ Bacon Ranch Salad and fiancé got the burger. Salad was not very good, just an odd mix of flavors. Fiancé said burger was good. They changed the fries but he wasn't impressed with these either. The drinks and wine list are excellent. Would love it if the bar stayed open later Thurs- Saturday and offered more small plates and appetizers. Although they were quite busy, we got seated quickly out of the patio. The patio is spacious and comfortable and the inside has an old school diner vibe. Our server, Chad, was friendly and attentive. Although they were out of spinach dip, we were very happy with our second choice, the hummus. We also got some wings and they were also very good. We got a mix of meals, pastas, a smashburger, and the meatloaf, all of which were great portions and oh so delicious. We didn't get any alcohol this time, but I would say the cocktails and sangria coming by looked pretty tasty. We paid on the inKind app, which gave us a $25 off reward. This place is just adorable. I've been twice and both times were such great experiences. The first time I came. I had a seat at the bar and had a great conversation with the bartender that included some on point recommendations. I had a great drink and a wonderful burger. The second time I dined in with my husband and a couple of friends. we split some apps and my husband and I were able to split a sandwich and still walk away feeling full and satisfied. I went here for my birthday dinner after wanting to try it for a while and I was not disappointed. I love the retro vibes and the restaurant is very spacious & clean. The patio is gorgeous and that's where we chose to sit since it was beautiful day. Service was quick and our waitress checked on us frequently. The cocktail list is well crafted. One of the better espresso martinis I've had in the area. Definitely order the shrimp corn dogs! The salads are huge and have so much flavor packed into them. Three Birds is bright and cheery with tons of natural light. We went at noon on a weekday and got seated quickly. The tables are very close together, so much so that when the woman next to us got in and out, her rear end was on our table which was awkward to say the least. Our server introduced himself and brought us water and gave us some time to look over the menu. It was my first time there and my sister-in-law recommended the chopped salad with rotisserie chicken so I got that. She got the veggie burger which she enjoyed. My salad was fresh and tasted good but there was *maybe* an ounce of chicken on it. I kept thinking I'd find more as I ate into the salad but the entire amount were the few bites on top of the salad. As I'm writing this review, I looked back at the online menu and realized there was supposed to be corn and bacon on it as well, which there was none. I debated giving 3 stars but we love this restaurant group, so I think I'll go back again but will be more aware of my meal when it's brought out. read more

Wow! I have nothing but praise for this place! The staff were so kind and welcoming, and the building was a cute vintage diner feel. We had brunch here and it was amazing. The burrito and especially the shakshouka were delicious. From when we walked in the door until we walked out we had a great experience. I thought the food, service, and overall vibe of the place was awesome. I love the decor. I had the fried chicken sandwich and it was very good. My daughter had the pesto shrimp pasta, and it was also very good. And it's perhaps a silly thing to mention, but the water was really good! I have only two complaints: three of us were seated at a table in a booth that really did not have enough legroom for three people. There were bigger tables available. We didn't ask to move so I can't really complain that much. Also the parking situation is not quite up to the task: I had to stalk someone leaving to get a spot with only a 30 min wait. But I would definitely go back, I would just go for a later dinner, after the 6pm crowd clears a bit, and I would ask for a bigger table! read more

Fun place and it is amazing to see the remodel opening up all those windows creates a real open inviting atmosphere. We grabbed a table outside the tall trees provided shade and a nice breeze even on a smoking hot day. The waiter was prompt and offered recommendations. I had the fried chicken thigh sandwich which was very taste others grabbed the smash burger and really enjoyed it. The chips were seasoned very well and I loved the crisp shoestring fries. The cocktails were tasty and reasonably priced, but I think they need to build out the beer list a bit. Over all a fun dinner and I love the look and feel of the place. It's new, and it's good. But it's loud, and we were seated between two tables not a foot away on each side, which reminded me of NYC. We should have known better, the parking lot was packed and it was raining so no outside seating, even though there's a very big patio. Next time we'll go we will wait till it's not so crowded and outside is an option. We will go back because the food is good. My partner in crime had a burger, and I had a Rachel that included turkey, cheese and sauerkraut. There's a small bar area as well, and fancy pants drinks. This was our first time here. Night after Thanksgiving, wasn't too crowded. Didn't have to wait for a table. Cool space. Lots of flexible seating options. One big TV in the bar area. Good variety on menu from staters to salads to sandwiches to entrees. They do have a side salad or half salads which weren't on the menu. So ask if you want them. We went with the Smashburger and Rachel Sandwiches. Both were really good. Crinkle cut fries were just the right crispiness. We had plenty to eat and passed on dessert. Very cool place. The vibe is great and it's in a good location. Service was very good. All the food we saw brought out looked good as well. My wife got the burger and raved about it. Just do not order the Western Burrito. I tried so hard to like it, but it was just really bad. Filled with a room-temp soft mixture of eggs and potato. It was lifeless and bland. Been wanting to try out this new restaurant. I highly suggest grabbing a reservation. It's still new and was busy. Even with a reservation we had to wait a few minutes but the service was great all night. Walking up to the restaurant itself you immediately notice the large, amazing patio. It would have been great to sit out there on a nicer night weather wise. Inside is full of natural light from the big windows all the way around the building. Loved the simple and stylish decor. I especially loved the famous three 'birds' framed in the bar area. Very cute touch. Our waiter, David, took great care of us all night. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and was able to offer suggestions and answer questions. It was very loud inside, so don't expect a quiet, intimate meal. As I said, I would have probably done the patio if it had been a nicer night weather wise. It's a tad on the expensive side but the food was delicious. We went first thing this morning when they opened and everyone was super nice. Our waiter was extremely friendly and helpful with our choices. We did the pimento cheese appetizer which was nice and I had the veggie burger. It does fall apart a bit and isn't bound super tight but I think it's because of the fresh ingredients they use as there were whole beans in there and the pistachio was a nice touch. The bun was extremely fresh and the house made chips were solid with a great spice on them. The drinks were exceptional! We tried 3 of the cocktails. The old-fashioned was nice and had some good flavors that complemented the bourbon. read more

Stopped in to Three Birds, for a soft opening, thoughtfully named after three iconic birds.The space was bright and had a great retro ambiance. I was greeted by Crystal, the GM at the door. The diner will focus on lunch/ dinner and there was a list of original cocktails as well as other standard drink options. I enjoyed the ' Daylight Confidential ', a fruity, light cocktail. We selected a homemade pimento cheese for appetizer, two sandwiches, and the veggie burger and fried chicken sandwich. The veggie burger was pattied in house and the chicken was hand battered. We came to Ohio to move our daughter and needed a warm meal after a long day of driving and moving and we are so happy that we came to Three Birds. The meal was excellent. I had their salmon and my hubby had their smash burger with a side of loaded fries. The food was presented well. It was cooked to our liking. The restaurant does a great job of invoking the feel of a mid century modern diner with the beautiful restoration of the old Parkmoor Drive In. The dining room is surrounded with beautiful glass windows looking out at the neighborhood and the wonderful outdoor dining area. The menus matches the vibe featuring old school favorites with a modern twist. The bar menu follows suit creating a delightful dining experience. The only downside is the high ambient noise levels due to the abundance of hard surfaces in the space. If I had the option I would probably give it 4.7 stars, but failing that, I'm happy to round up. read more

Apparently, Everything is not going to be alright if you have a pet. When Googled, The Three Birds is a pet friendly Patio restaurant. This is not the case. After being seated and ordered something to drink, Kateline informed us we could not have dinner with our dog on the patio. When I asked about the information online about pet friendly it was pointed out that it has been frustrating for them, and they are trying to get this misinformation down. Went to three birds for lunch on Saturday. The service was attentive and smooth. I had my two year old daughter. This is a great place for toddlers and the place must have a 1/3 of customers with toddlers and babies. The kids menu was cute and allowed them to pick up a puzzle to play with while they waited for their food. The plate my daughter had was amazing, well organized, and the food was well cooked. (She ate almost the entire plate.) i had the smash burger with fries which was amazing, while my wife had the fried chicken sandwich with slaw which was also perfectly cooked and tasty. The layout of the restaurant was well done with plenty of green space which helped improve the ambiance and really made it a great place to hang out. Reminiscence of an old , yet upscale diner. With the trappings of somewhat overpriced wannabe hipster food and the loudness of a sports bar during the Super Bowl. Three birds delivers on a new aesthetic place to be and food that is slightly above average. The wings I had were crispy and had a unique flavor. Might not be for everyone. The burger I had was delicious and what I hoped for in a burger. Juicy , savory and meaty but I couldn't enjoy the burger the way I wanted to due to the added up charge of $5 for fries that any non skilled tween could make...I was left disappointed and longing for any other batch fries than the ones I was eating. They were flimsy ... cold and lacking any texture or flavor but that of soggy bread. Oh and lastly , I was double charged for my meal. Not sure if I would return. read more
