Trolley Stop is a total vibe for weekend brunch. Not only do they have adorable (and extensive) patio seating - but they also have a Bloody Mary & Mimosa Bar with every topping you could ever imagine. They weren't terribly busy around noon on a Saturday morning - and it was quick and easy for our group of four to walk in and find a table outside. The other three members of my party went with a breakfast dish - but once I saw the Black Bean burger on the menu, I knew that was the dish for me. I opted for a side of their crispy potatoes (with a small upcharge) to really lean into the brunch theme, and that was definitely a solid choice. The burger itself was delicious as well - sometimes veggie burgers don't hold together well, but this one wasn't crumbly at all, and seasoned and cooked perfectly. I also partook in their Bloody Mary bar - and I have to say I've never seen such a variety of hot sauces. The only warning I have for folks mixing their own drinks is to be sure you know your palette ... because if you add in too much hot sauce or horseradish, you kind of just have to live with yourself. I would definitely return to Trolley Stop the next time I'm visiting family in Dayton! If the weather is nice, do yourself a favor and walk around the Oregon District after your meal to take in some of the history and cute shops. read more

Definitely a neighborhood bar, and a popular one at that. The bar fills up fast and then the non regulars are left to fill the smattering of tables. The space is large and the tables are scattered around making the seating feel awkward. My friend ordered potato soup at about 8 pm and the soup was cold and the potatoes were raw- back to the kitchen it went. We did drink our fill of Irish Gingers. Our server was friendly and took the time to joke around with us and give us some pointers to the neighborhood. The restrooms are located upstairs. Not ADA compliant!! As the summer days get hotter and hotter it's really nice to find a lovely spot to go to lunch and cool off. My partner and I recently went on a date and the spot we went to was The Trolly Stop in the perpetually pleasant Oregon District in Dayton, OH. The restaurant had a quite chill environment and incredibly friendly staff. It was fantastic place for late lunch on a scalding hot day. I had their blueberry mule and their hippie stacker sandwich and my partner has a drink version of their raspberry lemon drop shot with a jalapeño popper grilled cheese and we were both quite satisfied. The blueberry mule was simple call to a legendary drink (and my personal fave cocktail) where the blueberry shines and compliments the lime and ginger without being overly strong. Harmony in liquid. Absolutely lovely. My sandwich, the hippie stacker, was a nice summer/spring fair, all the ingredients meshed well and made for a lovely sandwich. Not much to write home about but I think that's ok. Not every sandwhich needs to be the next greatest thing, sometimes it's good to have something that's just right at the right time at the right place. My partners drink, the raspberry lemon drop, was a very bright and sweet but joyously sour, a quite sunny drink perfect for scorching days but potentially dangerous to how tasty it is. Her sandwich, the jalapeño grilled cheese, In her words was "pretty good. I like it. It's exactly what it says on the tin". We quite enjoyed our date and our meal at the trolley stop and recommend giving it a visit, maybe not the best thing around, but well worth the time and money. read more

We looked forward to this place after a recommendation, but I think this is a bar trying to be a restaurant. Our expectations were off. I'd expect "bar quality" food here rather than a cafe. I'd recommend against going here with a family. We discovered they have a very limited brunch menu on the weekends but there was an extensive drink menu and a great build own Bloody Mary station. The waffle and potatos were over-cooked, and the chili/salad were what you'd expect to be served at an elementary school cafeteria. The patio was wonderful and I expect that's why this place is still open, but the ambience was ruined by the waitress smoking just outside the gate. Just not the vibe we were looking for. Stopped in Dayton on trip from PA to MO mid afternoon one Sunday this summer. It was loud when I came in. Bathrooms are upstairs. It's quieter there. Not what I was expecting. I absolutely LOVE this place! It's downtown in the famous Oregon District, which is such a fun place to hangout. They have a great craft beer selection, good food and a beautiful patio. I recently ordered the hipster stacker. a Black Bean Burger served on wheat toast, with Swiss cheese, Avocado, Lettuce, Tomato, Bacon and Herb Mayo. I've been a frequent Trolley Stop patron for drinks with the late night crowd, it's a low key casual spot to grab a beer or mixed drink. I was proved wrong and was delighted to find Trolley Stop serves up an assortment of tempting dinner options, daily specials, and even vegan choices if that's your thing. I had my mind made up before arriving for dinner that I wanted the daily special I had seen on their FB page: a fantastic looking pineapple fried rice entrée. Sadly it was sold out by the time we arrived - darn. Instead I opted for the pork carnitas tacos. Oh.My.WOW! Slow cooked pork, cabbage, pickled radish, topped with an avocado salsa verde bursting with flavor, served a side of chips and salsa. (Not at all soggy like some places get) Flavor was on point for each and every sandwich, and the herbie dip is a dip I now need in my life! As slow as it was during the pre-rush the lack of service was a bit alarming. Constantly looking for the server and other staff members is not something customers should be accustomed to for their dining experience. It is amazing that other employees will look you in the eye but not set forth an effort to help since that is "not their section". Customer Service 101? We ordered chips and salsa as an appetizer and to say those were adequate would be deceiving. Nothing to brag about and the salsa was bland. Actually the worst chips and salsa we've ever ordered anywhere. We both ordered burgers and had to send 1 back before taking a bite since it was red and bloody. That meal was taken off the bill. The soda was not carbonated correctly and had to be sent back. People come there for lunch to get back to work within an hour. Our experience was well over an hour. Will we be back? I will always give a place a second chance, but I have no desire to get back there anytime soon. read more

Stopped in for a beer and lunch. I was the only customer at the bar. I ordered a Flying Dog Numero Uno (agave) lager and a bowl of fresh made chili con carne y frios. Delicious. Chili had the right amount of spice - all flavor, little heat. The chili had large meaty chucks of ground beef with liberal amount of kidney beans all with little bit soup to make this a hearty bowl of chili. I had to add shredded cheese and chopped red onions as this is my custom when I eat chili. I will have to order this again the next time I drop in here. The sauerkraut with the pork chop could use some seasoning like add a bottle of beer, or some apple juice with some caraway seed or a pinch of allspice or cloves. The chicken club was beautiful.
