We have walked by Deaf Monty's dozens of times and had always wanted to check it out, but never seemed to get around to it. So, we were pleasantly surprised when they were a stop on a food tour we took recently! They are in a beautiful old Victorian home with lots of charm. I've only been here once but would like to give it another try. They are supposed to have a light food offerings but the evening I went you could only get crackers, 1 cheese and olives. I was mainly interested in food. But the wine selection seems big and diverse. I had a Sauvignon Blanc and the different size pours you can get were nice to try more than one. It's an unassuming wine shop that can be easy to miss. It's in the same building as Innport Da'Vino. This is a nice bed and breakfast if you're into that kind of thing. It's a pretty good neighborhood. The wine tastings are about $5 a glass. I had a red wine. I'm not sure about which one, but it was one on display. The wines are usually about $10 to $20 a bottle. It has a few snack options like Gouda and possibly other cheese. They also have treats for dogs. It's not pretentious like many wine tastings are. People here are usually friendly. This was fun .. yet a bit odd. Ok we tried to go to Thai 9 but realized it wasn't open for another 30 minutes .. another couple read the sign the same time we did and we heard them say let just try the wine bar nearby. That sounded more interesting than waiting in the car so we also went there. The wine bar is also an Inn. It was a fairly cute place and the lady was very nice and patient to help. You could do it a few ways ... buy some samples or just buy a glass. The place is names Deaf Monty and had several pics of a small white dog .. and there was a small white dog at her feet. I inquired if that was Deaf Monty ... she said Deaf Monty had passed to the rainbow gate .. this was like Monty 3 :) We got some wine and went in the other room to sit and enjoy it. The other couple did the same and we did some cross table chatting. They were not from the area and had some questions. We were all having a nice time chatting among ourselves when the other girl notice a dog in a small dog bed up on a high shelf. I had seen similar fake battery powered cat and dog that breathed and gave my thoughts .. the owner spoke up from the other room and said that was the original Monty. Hmm keeping stuffed dog in your wine bar/ inn??? huh .. seemed more than a bit odd. gave us all a uncomfortable feeling and changed the vibe of the place. I would be willing to give it another try .. over the original shock about the taxidermy thang .. still think that would prefer she kept the dead one at home :) read more

This is a really cute little wine bar and shop. It is just slightly off the beaten path being around the corner from the main business strip. So if you want a quiet place for a glass of wine that isn't crowded with the usual bar crowds, this is a good pick. Good selection of wines by the glass and an impressive array of bottles. We were staying at the Innport Da'Vino B&B and since the owner, Leslie, also hosts this wine bar on most evenings, we decided to go. She is so enthusiastic, friendly, nice, and everything else that you will have a good time tasting the wines she is showcasing for the week. We were in town for a few days at stayed at the Inn Port B&B. Leslie (the owner of the B&B and the wine shop) was very helpful and friendly. Wine shops usually scare me because I don't know much about wines and I hate how expensive they get. This wine shop had very reasonable prices (~$10-$20) and for a small corking fee ($5) you could sit and drink in the shop which had 2 very nice sitting rooms.
