Tacos, queso, and spicy Margs are my three main food groups so I knew I had to check Frida's out for my birthday. The inside is so cute and fun and our server was phenomenal! She answered all our questions and kept checking on us. We started off with the queso and I have to say it is now my favorite queso I've had in the Tristate area It's not your typical queso that comes out runny. Frida's queso comes out in a mini skillet and is thick reminding me of when we lived in El Paso and had authentic Mexican food. The chips were amaziiiing too I got a shrimp taco and fish taco as my main and loved the combo of Chimichurri and pineapple salsa on the shrimp one. The fish taco was loaded with aioli which was a bit much so I couldn't really taste the fish or other toppings. I will definitely be back to try more tacos and eat my weight in queso! read more

Chose Cinco de Mayo for my first visit, which was a little crazy, but despite the crowd- staff was attentive and gracious. We tried the salsa trio to start- guacamole, peanut and fresca salsas. We thought Fridas was so cute and uniquely decorated. Our server was patient, kind and attentive. The happy was great. The pitcher of margaritas was pretty dang good. We had cheese and chip appetizer. We both had the special which was chicken, rice and onions. Chicken was well seasoned. Another great visit to Frida 602! I tried the seasonal cranberry/cinnamon cocktail. I was skeptical but the waitress recommended it and it was so good. As always, the fish taco and Brussels sprouts taco were incredible. I don't like corn so I never get the queso, but our group ordered two of them and they smelled divine. We had queso (greasy, seized up cheese) and a quesadilla (probably the worst i ever had). Service was terrible. I attended with a group who all ordered food and then intended to drink even after the inadequate service but didn't get the chance when the server brought our checks without even asking if we were done. The food is so good! I have never that I could think of food ever tasting sexy but come to Friday in Covington Ky. And order anything on the menu I promise you will not be disappointed. I give this restaurant a 5 star rating. The service was phenomenal, the ambience words cannot describe.. The chandeliers that hang from the ceiling are incredible, the old time deal with a modern atmosphere make you feel like you have stepped into something straight out of a Spanish New Orleans type scene. Not a single hint of authenticity. This is what people do after seeing someone eat something and saying I can do it better, but without tasting the original recipe, trying other recipes or knowing what it should taste like at all. Ordered the Pastor tacos, made it a plate with beans and rice and "A" lemon wedge for extra. The rice and beans were the best part of the meal and I'd throw it out as well. The pastor itself, nothing but shredded pork with pineapple chunks tossed on after. No flavor, no spice, horrible on its face. It used to be a regular place for our group of friends, we have not been there in probably a year and I'm shocked of the terrible quality now, we landed at CVG and immediately I thought of going there on our way home. We ask for the Frida (Margarita) and it was really bad, super acid and no taste of anything but that fake lemon juice, absolutely disgusting, we complained and we switched to a beer, when we ordered chips and guac, the chips were terribly salty, then my wife order the ceviche and the lime juice used for that recipe was either that fake one used on the margaritas or the lemons were bad... terrible experience... we will NOT be coming back. I've been to a lot of Mexican restaurants that have a similar vibe to Frida 602 - and I've enjoyed my time there, but Friday 602 offers delicious food that can be hit or miss with Mexican restaurants that are aiming for a more eclectic and novel feel. The margaritas are FRESH - no mix!! That alone is worth 5 stars for me. The spicy was perfectly spicy - not so much that I felt like my mouth was on fire. The queso was the star for me - that cheese crust on top is unmatched. The addition of corn and bell peppers made it not your average queso. I ordered two tacos, and both were great! Wow, what a wonderful experience I just had at Frida's 602 in Covington. From the minute I walk in. And the Hostess greeting me With a big smile to the absolutely amazing meal. We ordered 3 different street tacos and they were incredible and packed full of flavor . But the real star of the show was the Chicken Enchilada which was without a doubt the best I have ever had . I don't say that lightly I am a Chef who just moved here from Southern California where there are chicken enchiladas on every corner . It is a small but colorful restaurant with kind staff. They were unfortunately out of a few items we wanted to try, but the waitress recommended other options & was very helpful. We started with the queso, which they're supposedly famous for. It looked as expected- albeit a little greasy- , but we were happily surprised to see corn mixed into the cheese. It also came with a literal bucket of chips. It was good, although a bit bland, & the chips were crisp but unsalted. The chalupitas were similar: good but under-seasoned. We enjoyed the enchiladas the most, but their flavor relied heavily on the side of salsa they came with. In short, everything was good but could have used more flavor- the addition of lime or more salsa definitely would help. The drinks were tasty & we especially enjoyed the sweet & refreshing kiwi mojito. Last but certainly not least, the tres leches cake! It was by far the best thing we ordered. The bartender obviously didn't know how to make it or what goes in it and didn't bother to find out. The Esquites was very, very bland. I really enjoyed this restaurant. It was recommended to us many times from different people so when Mamas was too busy we had a last minute change in plans and went here. We sat at the bar and the servers and bartender were really friendly and helpful. We had the queso which was amazing. Then I had some tacos and my husband had the burrito. It came as a suggestion to not get the sour cream on the burrito because apparently it is drizzled on top so you would have to cut it, which is a great tip. Frida was amazing! We've heard great things and got a gift card, so of course had to try it. We came spontaneously on Friday without a reservation, and the wait was expectedly an hour. The pear mezcal drink is my go to (not overly smoky), but love their margs too! The queso is a MUST... it has corn in it and topped with bell peppers, a twist that I love. The chopped salad is nice to share and mix in with tacos... the al pastor taco is the best on the menu, in my opinion, but I wouldn't say these are the best tacos in Cincinnati. This most recent visit, I tried the chille rellenos with chicken, which were tasty, a generous portion, and I would get again! My friends enjoyed their empanada and quesadilla (not gf) and recommend! After a long morning of hiking throughout the Cincinnati Nature Center, my friend and I worked up a major appetite. On our way home we discussed what to get for lunch and tacos were quickly agreed upon. Frida's was in walking distance and I had never been. With 300+ reviews and a solid four-star rating on Yelp, it was an easy pick. After looking over the menu, I was sold. We placed our order over the phone and started on our journey to pickup. We arrived to find their patio filled with hungry patrons, a sparkling clean dining room/bar area, great jams playing, and friendly staff. We were welcomed right away and our food was placed on the counter ready to go. Easy peasy, very smooth ordering and pick up experience. We got home and immediately got to business. I started with their esquites appetizer. For the five dollar price tag, the portion is extraordinarily small. However, the flavor packs a punch. Next up, tacos! I tried the Gobernador (without the bacon), the pescado (fried fish), and the brussel sprout. This was my very first time ever having brussel sprouts in a taco and I really liked the smoked peanut salsa. Interesting flavors and combination for a taco, but it might have been my favorite! The other two were ok and I think would have been better had I dined in. Even though I picked up and ate quickly, they were both rather cold and the fish wasn't crispy by the time I got to it. Overall, I think this is a fabulous spot for a bite to eat and I love that it's in this neighborhood on this adorable strip. I would absolutely visit again, no doubt about it.
