Soco's is one of our favourite Mexican restaurants so we've been here many times and I've left multiple reviews. This was yet another great experience here as the service was impeccable as always and the restaurant looked great as usual. We started with an appetizer of their Chori-queso which was as good of version of that dish as we've had anywhere. For my main course I had one of their burritos and Mexican rice. I had shredded steak, cheese, and hot sauce in the burrito and it was soooo good. Their steak especially was just perfect and makes me wanna try a whole steak meal here sometime like a Carne Asada. The rice was outstanding as well. This was as good of a Mexican lunch as I could hope to get anywhere and I can't wait until the next one. read more

Our frozen Sangria margaritas were incredible, my daughter's Britta was the best she's ever had and my grilled tilapia fish plate was just OK. Service was good. It did seem to take forever for food to reach the table. Much longer than expected. The chips and salsa were not great. I guess for the sangria margarita I would recommend it but otherwise I think we have a lot of other options available in our community. read more

The food was amazing as always. I absolutely love the Machaca, and you can only get it here! My husband got the Bandera Burrito and loved it too. The service is always top notch, and the entire family are some of the best people you'll ever meet. Shonda took care of us and was very nice, helpful, and attentive. We enjoy the cozy atmosphere and the music. If you want authentic Mexican in this area look no further than Soco's! They are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year. I have been coming here ever since they opened. read more

Great salsa set up (mild, medium and hot), Mexican pizzas are our favorite! We also like the chorizo fries. The older lady who's always there is the sweetest and decent service. Typical atmosphere for a Mexican restaurant in the area. They do have drink and menu specials during the week. Definitely worth a visit. read more

Parking lot was full so we were hopeful. It smelled like cigarette smoke as soon as you walked in. The service was friendly but the food was inedible. Salsa tasted like old tomato paste. Their queso was rancid and the shrimp tasted bad. First and last visit. We will never return. read more

Not very friendly there was little Mexican hat on the table it fell off the wall and my grand son put it on his head and the waitress was like give me that that's when we should of got up and left ..the food wasn't even good my grandson order burrito and it didn't look done ..I asked for a coke she gave me lemonade I've been there before years ago and the food was good but not this time and what I paid for not worth it ..but the rudeness is what got me read more

Really don't understand why this restaurant is so popular. There are three other full service Tex Mex restaurants that are 10 minutes away in different directions that are far superior. We only went here because other couples wanted to go here. Chips were clearly stale. The mild sauce tasted like a poor quality tomato purée served directly from a can with little to know spices. My wife and I shared fajitas. They were okay at best. They were over spiced and over cooked. read more

Service was slow. Food was horrible. We both only ate half of our order. First chips were stale, mild salsa was like tomato juice. And they charge for a second basket of stale chips. I got an order of nacho grande. It was all cheese, had to find any chips or anything else. My husband ordered a mucho burrito asada. It was pork and had no seasoning no sauce. Just bland ground pork. I told the waitress there was way too much cheese and she said she would tell them. It looked like canned cheese. Will never go back. read more

I used to love going here but the food just doesn't taste the same. I always get the carnitas Verde and it was so tangy/sour this time that I couldn't eat it. Beans and rice were bland, my mom's burrito with carnitas was burnt. When we went to pay we let her know and she turns to tell the cooks in spanish that I said the food was very bad while I was standing there. I guess she didn't think I knew spanish. read more

Good experience. Met our family, large group. All went well . Everyone enjoyed their meals

The mole is too die for! Great food, good service and good prices. The margaritas are awesome and they have good weekday deals. Good traditional Tex Mex food with some southwest flare added for ambience! Highly recommend. read more

Socos brought food to my work for a lunch, and it was the best Mexican food I have ever had. There was so much flavor, and you could tell it was authentic and fresh. I can't wait to stop by their restaurant and eat their food again!! read more

Our first visit to Soco's. Disappointing! Service took too long (Wednesday evening, not busy), food came out barely lukewarm warm and kind of blah flavor wise. I ordered a beef quesadilla but they brought me a chicken one. Maybe it was just an off night but we won't be returning. read more

I enjoyed my trip to Montoya's. The service was a bit slow. It took a long time for anyone to take a drink order and to get our entrees, but the server was very friendly and took time explaining a few things on the menu. Our party of 3 ordered a few different things. I loved the Pirata Plato, which is a mixture of meat (I got chicken), peppers, grilled onions and cheese served with flour tortillas. It was delicious and the only thing that we tried that had any spiciness to it. Others in my party ordered cheese enchilladas (really the same no matter where you get them), shredded beef burrito (good), chicken tortilla soup (very good) and a chicken soft taco (bland). The worst thing was the taco - the chicken had absolutely no seasoning. The salsas were also pretty bland - the mild salsa tasted like canned tomatoes, the "hot" salsa tasted like mild jarred salsa. Rice and refried beans were fine. Overall it was a very average experience, but the delicious Pirata Plato bumped this up for me. I will be back. read more

The crowd was a definite indicator that this is a local favorite. For more me, it was a pretty neutral experience. Nothing was standout good or bad. There was a packed house in a Tuesday night! Our server was fairly quick with getting drinks and chips to the table and taking our order. But the food to the table time was really long. I am sure the dinner crowd was the cause but it seems like a popular spot could manage that a bit better. The food was fine; average in every way. I would be okay visiting again, but probably wouldn't seek it out again. read more

Really bad experience as a doordasher they made me confirm order and didn't allow me to check if it was the right stuff so i did as i was asked and turns out to be wrong order and not only the wrong order but now I have to wait even longer after confirming order and make the person that order wait even longer because of there mistakes don't come here read more

I love this place. Except today. There was no soap in the restroom when I arrived. I let the hostess know, yet when I left 1.5 hours later there was still no soap. She said she forgot, but on a Saturday night, this should be checked on, yet alone not forgotten considering I saw staff use the restroom while I was eating. Absolutely disgusting. We waited 20 minutes to order, so skipped the appetizer we planned on ordering as well as bar drinks. Our salsa was empty while we ordered, but she didn't offer more. We didn't see her til she dropped off our food 20 minutes later, again no offer of salsa. She didn't come back til we were done with empty plates, and dropped the check off with no attempt at real service. Our food was average but bland. She didn't bring the side of chicken we ordered, and having never stopped back, we never received. Flavor on food was not nearly as good as normal- rice and beans were just edible, not desirable. I let the hostess know how disappointed I was with our experience, and not only did she not get anyone/ management to address my concerns, she didn't even apologize or make any attempt to make the situation right. I am extremely disappointed and won't be recommending them as my go to place for friends and visitors till they regain my trust and business. read more

And okay ambience restaurant was appointed in Mexican decor. Restaurant seems cleaned as we did a takeout order and was able to sit at one of the tables. Food was good it's what you would have expected from a Mexican restaurant service was on point with several people asking if I had been taking care of. Time that we were quoted on carry out order was spot on! If you looking for some tasty Mexican food I would stop in and try some beef tacos! read more

I love this place. It's a lot nicer since they've redone the place. The staff is always so friendly. I'm very picky so I always get the shredded beef burrito. It comes with cheese on top and the shredded beef is always so juicy. It's really good. The chips and salsa are good and so is the queso. The wait is usually not very long. There are always coupons sent in the mail. read more

Wow! I had not been here for several months. came in on a Saturday night the place was crazy busy! We sat at the bar and had the best time! Our normal Mexican place was closed for a remodeling. So we tried out Montoyas. The staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean. We ordered some tacos and nachos. And I have to saw the nachos were extremely good! The tacos were good but nothing spectacular. It's hard to review a Mexican place on just tacos. But I think we may try it out again in the future. Maybe order some real entrées read more

It's reasonable food at a low price, but there's better Mexican and Tex-Mex cuisine in the area. I had an a la carte chicken burrito and the Dos Amigos combination plate. The chicken burrito was dry and lacked substantial flavor; it definitely needs hot sauce, queso, or some supplemental sauce. The Dos Amigos enchilada and tamale actually tasted good with their distinct sauces and filings, but the rice and refried beans that came with them were honestly subpar: dry, bland read more

I come to Montoyas for one reason and one reason only: the chori pollo! If you ask the family who works here, several will say that this is their favorite dish on the menu. That's how I originally discovered the dish, and now it is the only thing that I'll order. It's marinated chicken that is grilled with peppers and onions, topped with chorizo and queso! It comes with tortillas, but I usually eat it sans tortillas. It's so good! I've tried a few other things at Montoyas (tacos, enchiladas, etc.) but nothing really stands out. In my opinion, the rest of the menu is just okay. I usually order their queso dip, and I enjoy it. However, it's not my favorite queso in Cincinnati. To be honest, I don't think I would come here if I couldn't order the chori pollo. The other menu items simply don't do it for me. Note: after your server delivers your check, you pay at the cash register up front. read more

As I've mentioned in other reviews, I'm married to a Texan. And having visited the Houston and San Antonio areas many times with him, I have a much deeper appreciation of Mexican/Tex-Mex food now. For years, we frequently went to Jalapenos in Florence. When they closed, we were left without a favorite Mexican restaurant near us. Over the years, we've tried just about every one in northern Kentucky and some across the river too. While it won't replace Jalapenos in our heart, Montoyas has become our go-to Mexican restaurant. The menu is varied and authentic. They have a very nice mole sauce which is important to me. Very tasty margaritas too. My husband likes the chicken pirata and I tend to get something different every time. Had the carne asada tacos more recently and they are the closest to the ones I had in Houston I've found outside of Texas. The only downside is that while they serve some Mexican egg dishes, they're not open during breakfast hours. If they opened for breakfast and added breakfast tacos, I'd give them six stars! read more

You can't go wrong with Montoyas! First, let me say that I have had nothing but good experiences with this restaurant. But to be clear, this is an American-Mexican restaurant. The kind of place the majority of Americans think of when they think Mexican. There are other restaurants in this area that are much more authentic. Just wanted to state that, but it is certainly no dig at Montoyas. That being said, this is at or near the top of "Mexican" restaurants. And there are a lot of Mexican restaurants around. I've always found the food to be what I would expect to come out of my grandma's kitchen if we lived in the American southwest. And if you have an empty stomach and an almost empty wallet, this is the place for you as well. Large portions at very reasonable prices. I can't think of a single menu item I have not thoroughly enjoyed. The renovation they've done recently is very nice as well. And the staff could not be more friendly and helpful. With no desire to sound corny, they make you feel like family when you're there. read more

One of the best Mexican restaurants in NKY. We love the food and service. Drinks are amazing.

Delicious food with great service. I recommend getting a shredded beef burrito, chile verde style.

Very good food and very reasonable..you may have to wait for a few minutes as they have fewer tables due to Covid but that should end soon. Margaritas are very good..Hint..get em on the rocks..not frozen..on the rocks is so much better. Menu a bit hard to understand for gringos but they will help you decide read more

Been coming to this local favorite for years and am never disappointed. They have an excellent molé sauce which I get on enchiladas every time I visit, which is at least a few times a month. The entire staff is friendly and welcoming and are a huge reason for its local reputation. I also recommend their guacamole, queso and the burritos. The best place to sit is at the bar and grab a margarita. The prices are very reasonable, too. This is a very casual spot with the emphasis on the food and friendly staff. read more

I really had high hopes for this restaurant. The staff was extremely friendly. I felt like they took very good care of us as far as friendliness goes. But I have a pet peeve I like my dishes cleared from the table when I'm finished eating. They were never cleared until I was standing up and stacking them altogether ready to clear them myself. The food was okay. The queso dip was absolutely wonderful. A must!! Overall I've had way better Mexican food at other places. That being said my husband says the chicken fajitas were awesome!! read more

Never been there so we thought we'd try it. We placed a to go order, 2 burritos, a tostada, chips and queso. It was about $20. The burritos were kind of small, but tasted ok. I ordered queso sauce over both burritos, one of them didn't get it. Not much else really to say. Over all, it was good, not great. (The tostada was the best part of the order) read more
