Go check this place out. Tucked back behind the grocery store, but so glad I found it. Food was very good. Travel a lot for work and always opt for Mexican. Pollo Guerrero was one of the best plates I've had in a while. Typically go for Chile Verde, but this was a good substitute with verde over the chicken and chorizo on top. Not the biggest fan of chorizo and almost held it, but glad I didn't cause it made the meal If I'm ever back, this will be the only place I go. Support this place! read more

California resident and native Texan so I've had my share of Mexican flavors. Was decent for being in Kentucky. Best part was the guac was fresh. The salsa was okay, the hot sauces were better, and the queso was basic. Chips were solid though. I got the mole half chicken and the chicken was way overcooked and pieces of bone were everywhere as it turned into mush. The mole sauce was too sweet for me and the black beans were bland. Not a fan of this dish. The vegetarians with the group (about 1/4) were probably most disastisfief with their meal. Needs for vegetable diversity especially when rice / beans are so empty of flavor. Wasn't terrible, but for the price, wasnt quite worth it for what I got. Only person closer to 4 stars ordered the whole fried fish which they did like. read more

After driving 8 hours this was next to the hotel. Our order was a chicken quesadilla with grilled onions and 3 beef tacos no lettuce. We received a very dry quesadilla with chopped onions in a bowl and 3 chicken tacos with lots of lettuce. The waitress came to the table to show us the ticket was ordered correct but was messed up in the kitchen. We never got our drinks refilled and only got an apology for the incorrect food order. We ate their twice this week. Fantastic food at a great price. My wife had the fried talapia in garlic sauce. Wonderful flavor! I had this dish with shrimp and octopus. Wonderful flavor too! We stumbled upon this place while driving through Kentucky. The ambiance is very family oriented. We were there on a Sunday afternoon. It is quite small. The food was very good! I ordered a gordita filled with carnitas. And my husband ordered the torta with carnitas as well. The meat was moist but had crisp edges around the pieces of meat. It was delicious! The waitress was busy but we got our food in decent time. It is mostly a Spanish speaking clientele although the waitress spoke english. read more

Well I came back my second night in the area. Someone reviewed the requires so I ordered those. There was 4 shredded beef hidden under guac, romaine lettuce & cheese. These were very filling & good. I was stuffed at 2! Friday is 1/2 off frozen margaritas so I lucked out in that one I think if I lives around here this would be my favorite Mexican restaurant. Service is quick. I went there in September while on vacation to Kentucky. I scratched myself on the booth. It was pretty long and bleed. They had out of date peroxide and bandaids. I had the server called the manager for actual supplies. He finally came and cleaned it and bandaged it with as best as we could. It was long and needed to be looked at. I asked where urgent care was. They never offered to pay or anything. I went back home to another state(cut vacation short) for treatment because my insurance doesn't cover Kentucky. We stopped in here while passing through and saw the hood reviews on yelp. So glad we did. Very authentic, large menu, friendly staff. We had the pastor tacos, queso fundido, carne asada burrito. Everything was top notch. They give chips, a bowl of salsa and then 3 squeeze bottles of green mild sauce, red extra hot and guac sauce. Let me just say the red bottle will literally light you up! If you like authentic Mexican definitely stop in. Side note: most of the staff don't speak much English. My husband speaks a small amount so that was very helpful. read more

Also, though very tasty, their quesabirria tacos are so under fried on a flat top, they are practically soup. Dunk them, flat top fry them, serve them. Got a taco and Gordita. Overpriced and just not good. The "rajas con queso" was just rajas with cold shredded cheese sprinkled on. Back home it's melted together and you get a cheese pull. It all attests to the authenticity here for south of the border recipes. I started (and wanted to end with) the complementary chips and salsa. Lightly salted crisp chips dunked in fresh salsa with lots of cilantro. I didn't need more. But, of course, I had to order something. A couple of street tacos and chicken rellenos were filled with flavor. Rice and beans with the rellenos were satisfactory. Terrific service and fair prices made this an enjoyable meal. Cleanliness and maintenance (a broken glass entry door, dirty bathroom, and messy hallway) kept this from being 5-stars. Stellar, stellar, stellar... I was so glad when I used Yelp to hunt down Mexican restaurants that were authentic Mexican. The kind of place where there are more Latinos there than your standard Anglo-ish family. This was was the place! I had the Enchiladas Rancheras. Very excellent with good sauce and that tangy flavor I love in my enchilada sauce. The beans were probably my favorite though. They were refried with a slight charred taste which I absolutely love! Friend had standard enchiladas, which he said he liked however the steak was a bit overdone. I ended up taking them home myself and loved them regardless. On a Sunday early afternoon, the place was hoping and most tables were filled. Service was excellent and you could tell they were busy and short-staffed with unclean tables. He Said: We got here at 9 after a longish drive and were concerned they were closing early when we saw they had chairs up on tables and just a few folks left, but they welcomed us in. The remaining patrons all seemed to know each other or the staff so there was lots of fun chatter and people enjoying a calm Friday night. We ordered a well-earned margarita and, based on previous reviews, knew to ask for the other salsas they have (other than what they bring with the basket of chips). The habañero one is properly spicy and still tasty and the tomatillo one was bright and flavorful. Because I grew up eating them in San Diego I ordered taquitos and they were great. They were clearly hand-rolled and with a generous amount of beef inside. So good. She Said: I was so happy to see this place within easy walking distance of our hotel, and we were welcomed with a smile despite arriving as they were obviously cleaning up for the night. The margarita hit the spot, and we tried to refrain from filling up on chips and salsa--as He noted the salsa was great. The chips weren't anything special, but just served as vehicles for the tasty salsa, so that's fine. The true star of the show was the pork in the carnitas tacos. I'm not exaggerating when I say it was some of the best meat I've ever had in a taco. It was perfectly cooked and its flavor was complemented by the toppings--especially if you mix the tomatillo salsa with just a bit of the habanero. All in all, i would be happy to eat one of these tacos every day for the rest of my life, and I'm sad that I'll probably never be coming through this town again and won't get to have another. This place always has people in their seats. The front door looks like it is right out of the hood, yet that didn't deter me from getting my tacos. The server speaks good English and was very prompt with the order and drinks. My two pork tacos and beef burrito were excellent. I even re-heated the burrito the next day because it was too big for one sitting. It was good the second time too. I keep coming back because they make good food period. After reading all the great reviews and the few one-offs.. I figured I would give this place a try and ignore those negative reviews. I am a sucker for hole-in-the-wall/family owned businesses. However, this wasn't the spot for me. I was not impressed in the slightest. We only tried a few tacos, queso and margaritas. Carnitas taco was okay. Chicken taco didn't have much flavor. Al Pastor was the best of the three. Margarita wasn't great, frozen was more crushed ice than the smooth texture I prefer. The queso was alright, but the chips seemed to be just like Tostitos but NOT good and not fresh that I'm used to from a Mexican restaurant. We also didn't get any more with our queso until after we finished our meal, though we had asked upon arrival.
