Loved my first visit here. The steak tacos were excellent. Yes they are 16 dollars for two of them but then come with chips and salsa and a side. I chose the queso which was also very good. With the line down the sidewalk every time I drive I was super excited to finally try Taco mama. While the staff was super attentive and nice, restaurant was nicely decorated and a vibe inside, I was unimpressed with the food. I tried the already curated tacos which was a chicken "the mayor" taco and the steak one which I forgot the name. The food came out less than 10 minutes after we sat down and it was not enough remotely warm which was quite disappointing. Flavor was also lacking in general from both. I also tried the cucumber margarita which was delicious however if I'm having a margarita, then I would at least like to taste the alcohol. My favorite items were the queso and quac. All in all I will give it another try before I write them off. read more

Service was good--very attentive staff, but six visits to the table in a 30-minute timeframe to ask if everything was OK was over the top. I would have liked the option to get my own refill since the drink machine was accessible from the dining area. I loved the festive atmosphere and indoor/outdoor seating options. The menu was varied with free unlimited toppings. Ingredients were fresh, but we all found the taste of our dishes bland. There was literally no flavor/spices on the shredded chicken. Was a bit disappointed after paying over $60 for 3 lunches. May try again, but not anytime soon. We've tried 5 restaurants in the new Union Promenade and 4 of them have been downright disappointing. Was hopeful about Taco Mama's, but the bland food for the price we paid overshadowed its cool vibe. read more

There's a lot to like about Taco Mama. They have an interesting menu. They are conveniently located. We found them to be well staffed. But the matter of food, value and pricing leaves quite a bit to be desired. The tacos are minuscule. $16 for 2 tiny tacos. The chips are plentiful in quantity, but taste like flour and salt, and nothing else. The salsa was equally bland. The food quality was okay on the tacos, but there was nothing particularly flavorful or "wow, I've got to have that again" about either the Alabama barbecue taco or the Sizzler. Lunch for 2 was $40. Our favorite AUTHENTIC Mexican eatery, Acapulco, lunch is 2 for $20, with flavorful, satisfying dishes, endless flavorful chips and salsa, and service where you don't wait in line at the counter. With a 70% price reduction, Taco Mama becomes interesting. Without it, hay otras paises con comida mas buena. read more

Our table ordered a variety of items, including a burrito bowl, various burritos, chips, salsa, queso, Mac & cheese, and the street corn. I also got the coconut margarita. This place is great, a bubbly nice girl met us at the door. I got the Big Client burrito with Barbacoa and my wife got the burrito bowl with beef. Chips were hot and thin like we like em and the salsa was amazing. The restaurant inside was beautiful and clean. We will be back and the goal among others is to try their highly rated guacamole! read more

This might be one of the few places that makes it in the Union Promenade. It was nice to see a stuff that actually hustles, a manager behind the counter and someone asking you "is everything ok, can I get you anything" after sitting down. Menu is a bit overwhelming at first and probably causes the line at the counter but service was still good. All the food was fresh and looked like someone actually made it. Could it be a little more flavorful? Probably. but you can zip it up with some of their excellent sauces. Portions were huge on the burrito and some of the other items but I do agree with other reviewers on the Tacos seeming small. For the same price, go with the burrito. Chipotle across the road should just close up now. read more

Good, quality ingredients. Takes from the best of Mexican food, but caters to local tastes (imho). As others have mentioned, it isn't cheap, but I think you get what you pay for and I will be back. read more

The food and service are exceptional. We loved all the varieties of tacos and quesadillas. The margaritas are wonderful. The service is outstanding, from the minute you walk in the door. You are greater and the manager even came over and had a conversation with us. Actually, it was one of the best experiences we've ever had. We will be regular customers. We ate there tonight for the first time, so I'll tell you the good and the bad. The good: a nice young lady greeted us outside and explained the menu. The bad: the young lady who took our order was distracted, spoke very fast and didn't listen well. My order ended up being wrong but I think she ring it up wrong to be honest. The good: the mac & cheese is excellent and rice is decent. The chips and queso are good, the bad: the salsa. It's bland and tastes like roasted red peppers, sort of a smoky flavor. Some may like it but we did not. Now the tacos.... I ordered one cheese beef taco on soft corn tortilla and one chicken taco, add grilled jalapeños on flour tortilla. What I got was a regular beef taco (not the cheesy one) and my chicken taco had no jalapeños. Chicken taco was basic, just okay. Not much chicken in it. I had to add hot sauce and queso to make it have flavor. One bite into the beef taco and it fell apart. Had to eat it with a fork. It tasted good but it was not the taco I actually ordered. My husband ordered shrimp taco on hard shell which was good, no issues. He also ordered ahi tuna on hard shell taco. It was supposed to have a slaw on it but there was none. One bite into the tuna taco and it fell apart. He said it had no flavor so he used this sauce that came with the shrimp taco. It may have been chipotle ranch. It was watery, not like normal ranch but he said it helped the tuna. It wasn't the greatest tacos we've ever had but it was decent. The atmosphere is nice, casual dress, music playing and you can sit outside. We also got margaritas. They were good, not very strong, but the bad part was my husband's cup had a crack in it. We carried the drinks outside to sit down and his drink came pouring out the crack, went through the iron outdoor table and got on both of our pants! My husband ran inside to get a water cup to pour the remaining drink in before it all ran out. Meanwhile I went to get napkins. I told the hostess that his margarita drink cup had a crack. She gave me napkins and apologized, but no one offered to get him a new drink or refund it. We still had a nice time sitting outside enjoying the weather, despite the ups and downs of our meal. Not sure if it was worth $70 for two taco baskets, two drinks and small side of queso. read more
