I'm so confused why this place has any good reviews at all. My father comes in with my two sons. The restaurant is open but a desert. The host is chatting with an another employee. He doesn't acknowledge my father for five minutes. The other employee grimaces & tells the guy to seat my father & sons. My father sits for around 10-15 minutes. No service. He goes up to the server to ask for guacamole & his order taken. A server speak to a man behind the counter & the man says something dismissive & shakes his head "no." My father then realizes that he's begging folks to take his money & leaves. Like five employees watched as they leave saying nothing, only one guy as they reach the door "apologizes." It's a bizarre. Consistently good food! Their menu has a large variety of item to choose from and the service is always fast and friendly.

Waiter forgot to give me my guacamole dip for my appetizer. I had to ask for it when my dinner came out a few minutes prior. I asked for limes for my meal, but instead he gave me lemon slices. He ultimately brought 4 slices of limes and charged me $1.50 for what was always a complimentary item, yet never notified me ahead of time of the extra charge. Fajitas always come with corn tortillas. He gave me slightly warm flour tortillas with my meal that was obviously saved from hours prior since they were a bit stiff and not pliable at all. I asked for corn tortillas. He brought out hot, fresh ones ten minutes later, as my fajitas cooled down and while I was finally having the guacamole & chips. The fajitas were good, as usual, but this time there were more green peppers & onions than steak. It was noticeably the lunch version, not the dinner meal that I paid for. read more

A mason brother and i went down to walton so i could do a presentation on my travels. We were a bit early, and decided to go have a margarita or three . The salsa was delish, better than el vaquero. The margaritas were very refreshing, i ended up having 3. The tamale i had was the best tamale outside of Tijuana...would definitely come back to this place if in the area. read more

The food is just OK. I've been to a lot of Mexican restaurants in the country. I would come back, but I would try some different restaurants first to see if it's better. The waitress we had was absolutely slow and talked so quiet you couldn't hear her. I was glad that another waiter took over who was amazing and we made sure he got the tip. Quick lunch during a lunch break and was not disappointed. I thought everything was great! Food arrived piping hot with a hot plate and was freshly prepared. I nearly polished off my plate which is uncommon for me. I usually like to have leftovers to take home. I was really impressed with the complimentary chips and salsa. I honestly feel like fresh chips are hard to come by anymore. These were warm and just cooked which made me super happy. I can't remember the last time I had that. We order take out and everything felt fresh, great portions and tasted really good. I dont tend to write too much on mexican places since pretty much all of them have the same dishes so theres nothing new or wow to look forward to, but their food and service were great. The one ding that I have for them is that the flavor margaritas that can be ordered to-go have to be frozen and not on the rocks, Unfortunally for those of us that dont like frozen margaritas then we are out of luck. El Toro has been one of our favorite Mexican restaurants for a while. The chips are warm, the salsa is fresh and tasty, the chimis are delish, and tonight I tried the tamales-shredded, seasoned beef, enrobed in the classic corn tamale, smothered in delicious ground beef sauce, topped with authentic Mexican white shredded cheese. It was Cinco de Mayo, so the place was crazy chaotic for the staff trying to handle an influx of phone and online orders due to Covid-19. Yes there were screw ups. Yes there was a long line and an even longer wait. But kudos go to the staff who are all adapting to everything carry-out when they are traditionally a sit down restaurant known for great food and great service. No, my food was not piping hot when I got it home. No it's not the same as sitting in the restaurant, sipping a margarita(OHmiGosh- Get the Rainbow margarita- an obsession of mine!) But I appreciated not having to cook and having a taste of many great past visits with family and friends. Plus, they sell half gallons of margaritas - frozen or on the rocks- to go. Say it with me - Rainbow margarita!! Give your local restaurants some love- and pack some patience-we are all venturing into new territory. We haven't visited El Toro in a while because our food on our last visit wasn't as good as we had before. Last night was totally different! The guacamole and queso cheese with our chips was delicious and the chips were fresh and crispy! I had two steak chimichangas and my lady had chicken enchiladas and a beef taco. Both entrees were cooked perfectly and the food was delicious! Service was great and the restaurant is clean and well maintained. We'll be back when we're ready for Mexican again! read more

El Toro is an awesome place! The food is always delicious and even my picky Fiancé who doesn't eat Mexican food can find things he likes. The queso or anything you get with the queso is to die for. I love the chimichangas (which they have multiple types of) and I recently tried the managers special at lunch. Manager special is a chicken taco with onions and covered with queso. I love Tex-Mex, and there aren't a lot of options for that in Walton. I've tried really hard to like El Toro over the years, but no matter how much I lower my expectations, they consistently disappoint. This review is a PSA that if you buy a 16-oz. cheese dip, which will cost you more than $10 for takeout, you will not receive a single chip. They do not state this on their online ordering portal. Instead, they let you show up at the restaurant, take much longer to bring out your order than the portal says, and then flatly refuse to provide chips. If you, like me, don't have time to stand there and place (and wait for) a whole new order of just chips, I highly recommend stopping at Kroger on your way home. To save yourself even more time, forget El Toro and get the chips and the dip both at Kroger. The quality is similar, although the Kroger version won't be warm, and Kroger is much cheaper and MUCH less frustrating. read more

Being a vegetarian, I normally frequent Mexican restaurants because they have a lot more options for me. this is the second time I went to this restaurant and was disappointed to find chicken in my vegetarian fajitas. if you are a true vegetarian this restaurant should not be a restaurant you would want to go to because they cross contaminate your meal with customers that eat meat. read more

This place is an excellent find! We are traveling in our motorhome & camped at the RV park across the interstate. We came across this place because it's close to a big Kroger. We shared the Texas fajitas and top shelf margaritas (not shared) our first visit (dinner). The flavors were perfect! The drinks, were excellent (we had two each)! We came back 3 days later for lunch because the Ark was closed due to weather. He had the burrito bowl & I had the manager's special, both are wonderful. And, of course, a couple more margaritas to warm us up from the freezing rain. The staff members are all super friendly & provide great customer service. The decor and atmosphere are both also wonderful. There's a patio that would be great during better weather. Highly recommend this fabulous restaurant! Why can I say? I've tried several dishes on their menu, not really impressed with any of them. It's a typical Americanized Mexican restaurant. The first few times that I have gone there the experience has been pleasant, but since my first visit the service here has become a joke. A certain waitress there has made fun of the the order that my girlfriend has made. Making her feel self consious about what she had chosen. The bring you chips and salsa right off like most Mexican restaurants. They serve you quickly and bring the food out quickly. Everything looks nice since it's all new. I like the stucco walls and pics. They have TV's if you need to stay on top of March Madness. The food is humongous. I ordered 3 tacos and wow. The chicken inside the soft burrito was really good. I just ate the chicken inside the shell and some of the beans. I still have a taco to bring home. The price is reasonable and you will be stuffed if you eat everything on your plate. Nice plates too! If you like Chicken, rice and queso then you must try the Beto Special (used to be called the huego special) it is a HUGE plate of deliciousness. It is served with three tortillas that you fill but of course you can ask for more tortillas. The portion is so large you can definitely split it. The entree is $8.99 and worth every penny.
