I've been here a few times and really enjoyed the food here. The wait is never too bad and service is pretty attentive. They have a pretty spacious parking lot in the back so that's convenient. We love getting the Farmer's special since it comes with eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns and pancakes. We also always order one of their scrambles which we then get with tater tots and their homemade banana bread. The banana bread is sooooo good and you can tell it's freshly made. And the tater tots are always crispy and delicious. Would love if they had real maple syrup for the pancakes but can't complain. It's also pretty good price wise for the amount of food that you get especially compared to some other brunch spots and always comes out hot and fresh. Then again, I highly doubt they would ever have to worry about that possibility. Sweet little hometown like diner. They bake their own banana bread which is an option for one of their sides along with potatoes or fruit! It's always a delicious alternative. Especially with some butter smeared on top. Let me start with a humongous apology to Pablo!!!! This man deserves a 50 star but yelp only allows 5! I was so deep into a book that I was reading at the table that when my food arrived I didn't put the book down......Shout out to James Redfield for being a dope author, any way I thought it was only a few minutes, but it was obviously much longer like eight minutes later when I decided to start to eat my food only to my disappointment my French toast was cold and my sausage taste flat, and my eggs were overcooked. Being the foodie that I am, I asked for a manager and had a conversation with Pablo. He tried to tell me that I did not realize how long the food have been sitting at that table, and that the food arrived hot and I insisted no, sir. It wasn't that long but he checked the cameras so when I finish my meal after having it replaced, I had a conversation with Pablo and he listen to me, Tell him about my experience when he had already gone on the camera to see just how long I let that food sit at the table reading. Pablo let me finish my whole situation, blah blah blah, and then he's so politely and patiently displaying such tolerance and professionalism that I am writing this yelp review because of the way that this man conducted himself the whole entire time I attempted to be a whole Butthead about why my food was cold. I order the fried chicken steak and eggs dish and I went with fruit no potatoes and their eggs and banana bread, it was served fast and hot to the table a side note they call it chicken fried steak but in actuality it's beef. People who are hoping this is a "hidden gem" in Pasadena that the masses haven't found out about yet are a little too late to the party. The Reyn is always crowded it seems, especially during weekends. Your best bet is to come by during the week. It's a breakfast-lunch spot in the middle of Lake Ave. Small parking lot in the back that shares space with a couple other establishments. But you can find parking out front on the street usually. I would say this spot is popular because it's got an old-school diner feel that's a bit of a premium out in these parts. Very comfy inside and the waitstaff are friendly and helpful. There's a wait list in the back where you sign in on busy days, but there's covered seating where you can wait. It's also got a nice selection of breakfast sweets, like pancakes (they've got different types), French toast, and crepes. I asked the waitress what would be a good item from that section and she said the banana pancakes. She was right. The bananas are cooked right inside the pancakes, and the pancakes are huge. As for the other breakfast items, they are pretty standard and not particularly special. The sausages are pretty tiny, too, unfortunately. Prices are reasonable and on par with similar diners. First and foremost, I have eaten at Reyn several times. One of the big draws for me is the accessibility and overall good service and food. Today, October 7, 2025, was a very disturbing, frightening and humiliating experience. I am 67 years old and have graduated from a wheelchair to a rollator for very small distances - a few feet. The Reyn has handicapped parking and a rear handicapped access so it worked for me previously. Today, after ordering lunch, paying and leaving a generous tip as usual, I was told that I could not use the back handicapped exit because it was near closing time and that I would need to just walk around the block to get to my handicapped space, which I was physically unable to do. When I explained to whom I assume was the manager - white, bald and overweight, who also refused to give his name, he was very rude and challenged why I could not walk a block or so, several times. He refused access to the handicapped exit which I was never told when I entered would occur. He said they had mopped the four foot area and although I saw no water I asked if they might dry it if that really was an issue. He said we are closing and that exit is not available - you need to walk around the block and leave. I told him that I could not and he said "Do not come here again." I am assuming that it was because I needed the handicapped access. This needs to be evaluated by the owner. If there is handicapped parking, I and others rely on getting back to it. If I had been put out on the front entrance, I would have been unable to get back to my car. I was also humiliated by the experience. Why was I told not to return. Frankly, I doubt that I will but I want others to know that this establishment is clearly one that discriminates against the disabled. Very sad, in this day and time. By the way and this is a direct quote, the manager stated "yelp is for cry babies" when I was begging him to leave by the entrance to which I could reach my car and thought mentioning yelp might help me get out of the restaurant. read more
