This place has a great theme and if you didn't guess it by the name, it's all things wheels. Namely bikes and skateboards that I could see, but is a really good idea considering the popularity of both items in the Willamette Valley. And we have plenty of sports bars but none with this theme! I enjoyed looking at all the paraphernalia while we dined. We came in on a Saturday evening but slightly before the rush. Seemed like there was the bartender and one other server at the time. We were helped pretty quickly and the wait didn't seem long for our group of 6 to get drinks or food. Menu had decent variety but I opted for a simple cheeseburger. I was pleased to see that their dishware appears to be all secondhand (i.e. nothing matched). I think this is a great idea for so many reasons. Anyway, their fries are kind of steak-fry style but somehow they're better. Most steak fries are so boring and too mushy for me, but these were great. The burger was decent, not 5 star but definitely nothing bad about it either. Exactly what I wanted and better than just a bar burger. They were starting to get busy as we were wrapping up dinner, and I noticed their trivia night poster on the way out. Sounds like fun, so I will probably need to return.

I somehow have missed this spot before. I went there for dinner with friends, before a show. The table service was friendly and attentive. The food was also excellent. It has a sports bar grill feel, with TVs, fun decor, a couple pinball machines and a pool table so I was expecting the typical fried bar food. But the menu was definitely better than "the usual". The chicken cordon bleu bites were particularly good. I expect I'll be back.

Went to check it out on an early-ish Saturday night. Our first time here. First thing I noticed were the long tables with wooden benches (not too comfortable to sit in for a long time) and high top tables in the middle. None were busy. The decor is sports-related, bicycles and snow boarding mainly. Pretty cute. We ordered an appetizer that was truly delicious: chicken Gordon bleu bites (deep fried balls of chicken with bacon and cheese). Very tasty!! Then we split an order of fried chicken tenders on a biscuit. The chickens was tender, the biscuit was fresh and that was the problem.... It totally fell apart trying to bring it to my mouth. I had to resort using a fork to get all the bits and pieces. Delicious but hard to eat. I had a blackberry habanero margarita which was one of the better margaritas I have tasted in a long time: spicy but with a hint of sweet and a beautiful color. I saw how they made it, well done!! Service was attentive. The bar/restaurant itself is on the busier part of Main Street, we only counted two unhoused people on the sidewalk when we parked 2blocks away, of which one was trying to engage us. But it being in a busier part of town, I never felt unsafe.

I'm not one to just walk into a random place if I haven't heard about it or AT LEAST looked up reviews online. Yesterday, I was walking over to a food truck nearby that happened to be closed. On the way there, my attention was grabbed by this restaurant/bar that was just opening up for the day. I'm not really into bikes or boards, but it still looked like an interesting spot. Since the food truck was closed and we were hungry, I asked my wife if she just wanted to eat inside The Pedaler. I wasn't very serious though. I thought she'd say no because we're not really into these kind of sports and were craving Mexican food at the time... but to my surprise, she said OKAY. I looked at the menu from the outside and it sounded like it could be good. So we went for it..... As soon as we walked in, I could tell they were just opening up for the day. There was no one inside except the bartender and someone else setting up (who I assume is the owner because he was putting together all the little details to open up the place). At first glance, the place looked new. I had never heard of this spot and it looked clean, fresh, had a bit of a modern vibe with a sporty feel. We were greeted and the bartender was very friendly and welcoming. We sat down, glanced at the menu, and I was so excited and quite surprised to see they had Fernet! Not only did they have the classic Fernet Branca, but they had another one from San Francisco which is really good and hard to find in my opinion. I ordered a glass of that with coke and it was delightful. The bartender prepared it just right. My wife and I were pretty hungry, so everything looked good, but I was especially drawn to the Baja Burger. I can't remember the name of her plate, but it was a grilled chicken sandwich. I ordered the side of sweet potato fries and she got the Parmesan fries. The gentleman setting up was putting out some Halloween decorations, which was really nice to see! It's always nice to see people putting in the little details. Each table also had a little trick or treat basket with chocolates inside! Like, WHAT?? Who does that??? Obviously they do, and I'm here for it! That right there is the "little details" that I'm talking about. They make a difference in the guest experience. The food came out pretty fast since we were the only ones there. I can't speak on how it would be during a busy time, but I was content with it. I don't know how to explain it, but I could tell the food was going to be really good just by looking at it once it made its way to our table. I took one bite and that was it. I knew I'd be coming back. Everything tasted just right. The textures, the flavors, the appearance, it just checked all the right boxes for me. I tasted my wife's chicken sandwich and it was just as good. That grilled chicken was seasoned and cooked so well, that it's probably my new favorite grilled chicken sandwich. The parmesan fries looked amazing. They didn't look like your typical bar fries. They were hand cut/sliced, seasoned well, and cooked just right. I wish I could have taken a picture but I got too caught up on eating. Overall, it was a really great early dinner and I know I'll be coming back. The ONLY downside is that they had such a great liquor selection, but they didn't have any Malibu. Sure, they have better rums, but for those that really like the sweet coconut rum flavor, Malibu is a must have. My wife was also craving a latte. They did have a coffee/espresso machine, but they were out of milk at the time. No biggie, but I would like to see those two things in the future (coffee and Malibu). I know there aren't MANY people that go to a bar and order a latte or a coffee, but we're out there! :) I know where I'll be recommending my friends for food and drinks next time we want to get together.

The staff has always been (and still very much is) top notch in everything they do...but the food quality has dropped significantly to the point we can no longer justify the expensive. We've learned the changes began shortly after a new owner came in. Some of the changes we've noticed: The fish in the fish 'n chips is now buried in deep fried batter to the point I had to peel away most of the breading just to get to what little fish was there. The steak and eggs ($30) offers barely 4 ounces of steak, small heap of potatoes and two eggs...not enough to justify the price. They downgraded their organic, thick-cut pepper bacon to some odd, paper thin variety that is not very appealing and it would seem they no longer make their biscuits gravy in house! It now looks and tastes bland and pasty...industrialized. They used to have magnificent herbed gravy made from scratch so this is particularly disappointing. They no longer have real maple syrup. The prices remain that of an organic, farm-to-table but the food no longer qualifies and is very overpriced for what it is. I will really miss my Sunday mornings there but I just can't stomach these shortcomings. Very sad to see our favorite restaurant reduced to this state. If I could, I would give the staff 5+ stars and the food 1.

However we tried to go a couple times during the remodel, and it seemed like it was always being pushed back. In fact, I told my husband if they weren't open now, I was never coming back, as I was tired of trying to find plan b for dinner when they were closed. I'm glad we found them to be open today. We went in around 6-ish in the evening. There weren't very many people in there and we were greeted immediately, which was fine. We wandered around, as there are two sides to the restaurant. It's not terribly exciting in terms of decorations. It doesn't lend itself to the Simpson's reference of Moe's Tavern. Which would be the precise reason my husband wanted to go in here, and made a reference to it when he checked in on Facebook. Our waitress was Chelsea, and she was such a sweetheart. My one annoyance was the menu is incredibly small print, and very hard to read. I need to remember to bring my glasses the next time I come in. I ended up with a headache due to trying to read the menu without much success. Luckily, the chef, Ted, let me use his. Which helped significantly, and I was finally able to pick something I actually wanted off the menu, instead of a basic burger. We started with the zucchini fries, which were delicious. I loved the breading on them. It was solid, and didn't fall apart. My husband wants to try the hellfries the next time we go in. I had the mushroom burger and my husband had the fondue stacker. I had tater tots and my husband had fries and we had garlic and Parmesan added to both. My husband loved his burger, and I definitely enjoyed mine. Both were ordered medium rare, and it was a gorgeous bright red in the middle. One of the things I love is they buy their meat from Bright Oak Meats, which is a local butcher shop, just a few blocks from the bar. I love supporting a small local business that works exclusively with other small local businesses. Perfect combination, if you ask me. This also enables us to order our burgers cooked to any temperature we want. I absolutely despise when I have to have a burger done to anything past medium rare. Here, medium rare is their standard, Which they tell you when ordering. I would definitely recommend stopping in here. It's very meat-heavy, like burgers with copious amounts of bacon. If you love your bacon, this is THE perfect place for you! My husband was wearing his "I love bacon" shirt when we went in, not knowing just how appropriate it was. Lol. I was thrilled I found a cute local business to get behind, that supports other well-known local businesses and makes the perfect medium-rare burger. I am sooooo glad that I ignored all the negative reviews from this place. It's definitely a go-to now for my husband and I! Review 86 of 2017.

I've lived here for around 5 years, and another 15 years up in Salem and this little restaurant is a gem in every respect. I've been to Rye at least 4 times since moving here. I had heard about it from friends and so my partner and I first tried it out and were highly impressed with the food, the servce and the ambiance. The menu is just a bit limited but between the specials and the menu offerings, there was plenty to choose from. Above all, what they do, they do very well. I and my partner ate at Rye three nights ago and we thoroughly enjoyed the experience in every way. AMBIENCE... The dining room is terrific. Lots of dark wood. The lighting of the room is especially conducive to privacy but not isolation. Inasmuch as it was raining to beat the band when we arrived, entering felt like a welcoming respite. The patrons' chatter was subdued but clearly they were having a great time. FOOD... We ordered cocktails (I enjoyed a Cocchi Rye whiskey cocktail which was delicious. The French onion soup I ordered was also very tasty and loaded with mozzarella atop the cup. I then dived into a "special" plate of a Chinook salmon fillet, finished perfectly and sitting on a bed or pureed squash. Excellent, I thought. Afterwards, we shared some sort of fruity pastry, sharing with two forks. SERVICE... From where I sat I could watch the bar activity, even the service window into the kitchen allowed me to watch all the activity. Our server was very efficient and cheerful and engaging without being overbearing in any way. AFTERTHOUGHTS: I will be coming back, of course. Rye is where you want to go to have a very good time eating out. You're not going to spend an arm and a leg to eat there but Rye is definitely not Denny's.
