I came in here with my husband earlier this evening. We had never been here before, so I have no opinion on what it was like prior to the remodel. However we tried to go a couple times during the remodel, and it seemed like it was always being pushed back. In fact, I told my husband if they weren't open now, I was never coming back, as I was tired of trying to find plan b for dinner when they were closed. I'm glad we found them to be open today. We went in around 6-ish in the evening. There weren't very many people in there and we were greeted immediately, which was fine. We wandered around, as there are two sides to the restaurant. It's not terribly exciting in terms of decorations. It doesn't lend itself to the Simpson's reference of Moe's Tavern. Which would be the precise reason my husband wanted to go in here, and made a reference to it when he checked in on Facebook. Our waitress was Chelsea, and she was such a sweetheart. My one annoyance was the menu is incredibly small print, and very hard to read. I need to remember to bring my glasses the next time I come in. I ended up with a headache due to trying to read the menu without much success. Luckily, the chef, Ted, let me use his. Which helped significantly, and I was finally able to pick something I actually wanted off the menu, instead of a basic burger. We started with the zucchini fries, which were delicious. I loved the breading on them. It was solid, and didn't fall apart. My husband wants to try the hellfries the next time we go in. I had the mushroom burger and my husband had the fondue stacker. I had tater tots and my husband had fries and we had garlic and Parmesan added to both. My husband loved his burger, and I definitely enjoyed mine. Both were ordered medium rare, and it was a gorgeous bright red in the middle. One of the things I love is they buy their meat from Bright Oak Meats, which is a local butcher shop, just a few blocks from the bar. I love supporting a small local business that works exclusively with other small local businesses. Perfect combination, if you ask me. This also enables us to order our burgers cooked to any temperature we want. I absolutely despise when I have to have a burger done to anything past medium rare. Here, medium rare is their standard, Which they tell you when ordering. I would definitely recommend stopping in here. It's very meat-heavy, like burgers with copious amounts of bacon. If you love your bacon, this is THE perfect place for you! My husband was wearing his "I love bacon" shirt when we went in, not knowing just how appropriate it was. Lol. I was thrilled I found a cute local business to get behind, that supports other well-known local businesses and makes the perfect medium-rare burger. This is one of our favorite places to go to for dinner. It's not the cheapest but it's by far the best! All the burgers and sandwiches are so delicious and I'm not a huge fan of burger and sandwiches! But the selection is incredible!!!! And the creativity is awesome! Blueberry aioli!? Sounds weird buts great! They also have fried pickles which are our favorite appetizers - long spears hand breaded then deep fried, not the frozen sliced kind. They always have a nice selection of beers on tap from local breweries. To top it off, it's easy parking. Never have to drive around and around looking for a spot to park!! Tonight's visit was my 3rd to this portion of the restaurant. I had my regular favorite for this location, amaretto sour, made traditionally with egg whites! Phenomenal. We ordered their spin on jalapeño poppers and fried zucchini and we were disappointed. The poppers were packed with flavor, 4 came on the plate topped high and on a bed of arugula. The zucchini was lightly breaded and perfectly crunchy, served with a signature red sausage that's well worth the try! Service is always friendly and personable, they're a hidden gem that id rather keep to myself but good enough to scream about from the roof tops! The bacon is mouthwatering irresistible. read more

When I visited they had an average of four stars. The moment I walked in, I was surprised that it wasn't three star or less. It's was just a normal neighborhood bar with bad acoustics. With less than a dozen people in the place, the bartender couldn't hear us. (Turning off the TV blaring could have helped). I asked bar tender if he has any IPAs and then he raddled off every beer they have. When my wife asked if they had a Cabernet, he first ignored the request (might have forgot after walking away) and then after asking again he lined up every wine they have (red and white). He just kept walking away after asking us a question without giving us a chance to answer. My wife (who is very easy going and rarely complains) changed her order to "ill just share his beer") after noticing how long it was going to take and just that the place was not desirable. There's not much of any atmosphere in this place. The only other place I've been to in Springfield is Planktown Brewery... They could use some noise deadening stuff on their ceiling, otherwise it's many times better than this place. We didn't even ask for the menu since it was obviously not our kind of place. read more

Cool, original, one off vibe - so refreshing. Alex - bartender, server was helpful, engaging and passionate about the menu which was spot on. Next stop will be for their renowned bacon cheese burger. The brown sugar carmelized bacon sounds too good to be missed. Round one - Cobb salad and fried pickles food was stellar. So lucky we were forced off the icy roads to find this gem; blessing! First off, there are 18 reviews that are not recommended for this place at the bottom of the page. They are mostly good reviews so I suggest taking a look before you judge. There's not a lot to Moe's, but I like it. It's a nice bar. I was here with a friend yesterday for drinks. We had "Absolut Texas" martinis. They were not good. Not even at all. Very dirty vodka martinis with spicy vodka that were mostly olive juice and gave us both stomach aches. I'm not sure what makes this "Texas" but whatever. The gin and tonic chaser was good. We also had the fried avocados and a basket of bread with olive oil and balsamic including whole roasted garlic cloves and cracked pepper. So, had to try the avocado thing, and it was ok, but won't do that again. The bread was outstanding though. Full of garlicy goodness and they only charged us $1.25. Our server was great! She was friendly and checked on us frequently. I like this place and will probably come back again to try a little more off their menu. It's a meat heavy menu so I'll make sure to bring my bacon loving husband instead of my vegetarian friends. read more

Was told by family how great this place was, but the 4 of us where very disappointed , we where told by the server that they dont want anything to ruin the taste of the burger so they dont offer tomato or pickle for it, but the only thing ruining the taste of the burger where the over sweet, over spiced bacon and way to much musturd. Went on late afternoon to avoid the crowds but was greeted by so so service. The food was spicy and he nerver returned to refill our waters. This cozy bar/restaurant in downtown Springfield serves up top quality food and has a full bar. The decor of the bar is fun and eclectic. Very cool upstairs "living room" with couches a tv and pool table. The garlic seared salmon is hands down the best salmon I have ever eaten. Explosions of flavor that compliment each other. The wilted greens that accompany it were also phenomenal. If your looking for a cool laid back bar with gourmet quality food this is definitely the place to go read more

While visiting a friend, we decided we had to give this place a go. For the name alone, it was a must. Besides, at 8:30pm there weren't a whole lot of options that looked appealing. Anyways, we originally walked into Chow, but saw they closed at 9pm, we didn't want to rush or be a pain to the wait staff, so we went to leave and go next door to Moe's, which our plan was to eat and then go next door. Before we could exit the waitress let us know there was a passage way inside between the two places, so we popped over. They serve C how's full menu at Moe's, which was the best of both worlds. We were greeted by a nice and enthusiastic waitress who let us know we could sit anywhere and handed us menus. We found seats and quickly realized the menu was going to be difficult to tackle. Everything looked amazing. After conferring with the waitress, we decided on what to get. The big momma burger is hands down amazing. Plus, loaded tots made me a happy and super full girl. I would gladly come back here. All the staff were helpful and friendly, and super attentive without being overbearing. read more

I recently started playing music here (so i am admittedly a little biased) but i was surprised to see the reviews so negative. They are all from a while ago though so maybe things have changed. Here is Moe's as I see it: The building itself is destined to just be a regular bar, you could put a bank in it and it would still scream "bar." That being said the owner does some stuff to make it nicer: there is pretty cool (and somewhat quirky in its organization and variety) artwork on the walls, and the best damn burgers i've ever had. The helfrich tastes like christmas. If you don't like bacon this may just not be the place for you, though the veggie options looked nice. It is, as other reviews have stated noisy. The difference is that now its no longer a tv but live music. Overall a good place. read more

After their recent the renovation, they reopened with some new menu items. Got the fondue stacker. The taste was mediocre. The sweet potato tots were good. Our group of six had three orders messed up. Friend's tots came out late. Half the orders came out very late. My Dads undercooked burger made him sick! A group of friends and I went there over the weekend. I had warned everyone already about the yelp reviews, none listened. 2 of us ordered burgers, as they only had enough meat for 3 burgers. This is around noon on a Saturday. I have never experienced a place being low on meat before. I ordered mine well done, dead, burnt...it came back so bloody that it was falling apart. I'm pregnant and have to stay away from bloody undercooked meat. The bartender apologized and was kinda pissed, as he had written the ticket and the cooks obviously didn't read it. The other burger was the same way, my father being diabetic had to eat right then and there because of his blood sugar and he didn't want to take it out on the sever so he ate most of his. I sent mine back, it came back still really bloody. It's like the cooks don't care there. I only took two or three bites and got a box for the dog, if im paying close to 15 bucks for a burger, someone's gonna enjoy it. THE STORY DON'T THERE FOLKS! My Dad was sick all day, like drinking the water in Mexico sick. I don't expect this place to last much longer with expensive burgers that are so undercooked that they fall apart. The rest of the meals were not anything to mention as they were bland and after paying enough for gourmet meals and finding ourselves disappointed, 6 people agreed to never go back there. Oh my... I love bacon and Moe's knows BACON! Seriously some of the best burgers and fries out there. I had the BAB with Truffle Tots and truly wished my tummy was larger. Made it halfway but saved room for their coconut bread pudding with ice cream. I normally would never eat a bread pudding because I don't care for it...I ate almost all of it!!!! I rated this place one star just to be nice... Well first off before I discuss the food, the service was super attentive and not in a good way... All 3 of the employees came out and asked us "how is everything" periodically. The atomsphere was very uninviteing/u could hear a pin drop it was so quiet/empty. We had to point this out to the bartender and ask them to turn on some music before the food came because it was uncomfortable and hard to talk. ... and the food wasn't the best. We ordered chicken wings and the Eugene steak sandwich. The food was something I could of put together at home and not worth the 20 bucks. The steak sandwich didn't look like a sandwich at all it was a pile of over salted meat and lettuce on top of 2 pieces of toast. The chicken wings were just deep fried chicken with a little of hot sauce thrown on them. I wouldn't go back at all. read more

This place is absolutely incredible, I have been here about 6 times now and I usually try to eat pretty healthy and not large portions of food. I can't help myself and so far I am 5 for 6 for finishing my burger. They hand grind their patty's daily and I am pretty sure it's a top 3 of the best burger I have had. read more

Well I must say after reading the other reviews by this place, I genuinely will disagree with all of it. At this point, I have been there a handful of times and have had a great experience. The food is awesome and they have good local beers on tap. There is usually jazz or some other relaxing music playing in the background. The other reviews were posted in March. I think based on what I am reading the dynamic has changed since that time. They have a jazz band coming in on Wednesdays and Fridays. They are now open on Sundays. Maybe people should give the place a second chance. I definitely plan to go back and try some other menu items. I think this is the kind of place Springfield needs! read more

The food at a pub like this is supposed to have new twist making things tastier and inventive. This chef forgot to read that memo. Four of us ate and it was a bit on the high side for lunch. I have found hair in my food twice while eating there and it definitely wasn't my hair. They are slightly over priced. The band they have in there is WAY too loud so the server can never hear what you are saying. The food that i have eaten, that didn't have hair in it, was really good, they just need to wear hair nets while cooking or something. And stop having the band play so loud!! read more

Food not very good. Totally overshot the creative thing making almost everything....blehk. Noisy shitty acoustics. Feels like a left the office lights to go to a warehouse and sip my tiny little shot. They are in some kind of exclusion zone so you can't get a "cocktail" ie. martini margarita. Bleh...bleh... Been here about 5 times previously, even took family there and recommended it to friends.........Not anymore. Tonight's dinner could not have been worse. Waitress (had only one other table in the place) forgot to bring the beer my husband ordered. Also, forgot his salad, and when reminded, said she would bring it. Never happened. The cook was asked about it when he brought our tater tots that we ordered (instead of the fries we were served), so HE brought it. I did not get any cole slaw on my pulled pork sandwich, or my cheese and bacon that I had asked to be served on the side, until I asked where they were. But, the worst part was that the chicken wings my husband ordered were undercooked!! Raw, red chicken in a wing? This is a location which has historically not been good for the restaurants and bars that have opened here, but I thought I'd try Moe's. The beer offerings are standard but adequate, but the food was another story. The bartender offered chili, which she described as homemade, with no beans, and rather hot. It sounded great, as I love a good chili; but this was insipid, and so spicy as to be inedible. Hamburger in an overly sweet apparently tomato based sauce with too much chili powder. No recognizable other ingredients at all, not even a waterlogged tomato. TV blaring some nonsense. I also got the feeling from bits of conversation I overheard that a "tea partyer" might feel welcome here. I will not be back. read more

The only way to describe Moe's is mediocre. Food selections were a mix of nouveau cuisine and a few standards. Beer variety was disappointing. Came in here frequently when it was Tom & Johnny's, won't be back to Moe's. read more
