Even though it's a hotel restaurant it's delicious! They were a little understaffed but did their best and were very friendly. The worst was just the wait to be seated; the food came out hot and fresh. It's a beautiful area that has a cozy sophisticated feel. The chairs and tables for small groups are more along the lines of a café set up. In my opinion they have the absolute best breakfast potatoes!

Decided to try the Nickel before a DCPA show. Named after the nickel fare customers paid to ride the streetcars, much of the decor pays homage to the Denver Tramway trolleys. We sat at the bar, since this is where you can get HH bites and drinks. (HH runs Tues-F, 4-6pm) Our server was amazing and very attentive. She paced our items well, and didn't rush us since we had plenty of time to waste before our show. The small bites are only small in size. They are big on flavor. The corn beignet had a little spicy kick, the crab salad delicately wrapped in a cucumber was citrusy, and the squash blossom was lightly battered with tempura. The Nickel Salad was a generous portion that could be shared. The herb white balsamic dressing was addictive and paired well with the red grapes and blue cheese. The regular menu charcuterie board came with 3 cheeses and 3 meats, fruit, nuts, jam, and perfectly toasted, seasoned baguette slices. Generous pours of wine at $10 a glass for HH were a perfect pairing. I will definitely return to the Nickel at the Hotel Teatro.

The food, drink, service, and atmosphere at the Nickel is worth every penny! The Nickel is located inside the Hotel Teatro. This is a fancy, historic hotel which has been around for 100+ years. The Nickel offers a Happy Hour every Tuesday-Friday from 4-6pm. It is a great place to hang out if you are waiting for a show at the DCPA Arts complex which is just across the street. We ordered little bites on their HH menu (corn beignet, squash, and blue crab salad) all were very good. The bartender/our server described them as an amuse bouche and she was right on with that description. We also selected The Nickel Salad (which can be split. It is large portion on the HH menu). The White Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing is amazingly good on this salad btw! To finalize our meal, we split the regular menu order of the Charcuterie Board - also delicious. Everything was divine, decadent, and reasonably priced. To get the HH prices, you must sit at the bar. This worked out well as our bartender/server was very nice, friendly, and even split out the salad into two portions for us. Great place to go - even if you're not a hotel guest.

My dad stayed at this hotel while he was visiting town. We decided to try this restaurant which is located inside the hotel. We came around 6:30pm and were seating immediately. The menu is small, but they have some staple items. The burger was delicious and cooked to perfection the fries were also super plentiful. I wasn't super hungry so me and my dad decided to share it. My dad also had the beet salad which was a tad small but if you accompany it with something then you will be good. Our waitress Rachel was great, super nice and made sure everything came out in a timely manner. The decor was all very cozy with whiskey barrels surrounding and the chairs were also very comfortable. If you are in the area looking for a good dinner I would give this spot a shot. Overall 5/5 stars.

This is in the hotel Teatro, which is where I stayed during my trip to Denver, CO. It had good reviews on Yelp. So, I had to check it out. If you stay at the hotel, they give you these $10 vouchers to dine at the Nickel, depending on how many days you stay at the place. Great technique to have you eat from their restaurant. I tried a few items from their breakfast or brunch menu during my stay at the hotel. The seasonal toaster strudel was enjoyable, but the nickel salad was just alright. Nothing was amazing here. The service was just average, too. It could've been better.

    Raw prime rib.

For $85 Xmas eve brunch we were served completely raw prime rib. Dry eggs over cooked bacon and french fries. No omelette station. No eggs Benedict. This was a complete disappointment. I won't be giving this place another chance. The service was average at best.

The food is SO good! The bar tender was so attentive. I'm so sad they no longer sell the special oatmeal for breakfast! That stuff is legendary! I LOVE the oval tables that don't make you feel crowded. I'll leave some photos for you as well. I was in 905. The room was a little rough (faucets, towel holder, etc.), but I loved the balcony! Especially, with the night air!

We had an amazing Father's Day brunch. Our server was super friendly and attentive. The food was fresh and one of the best brunches we've had in a long time. We also appreciated the vibe as it was welcoming and a great place to have a conversation as it wasn't loud. Best breakfast burrito and the cappuccino was fantastic! We'll definitely come back next time we're in Denver.

Was a pleasant surprise! I haven't been to the Nickel in a very long time but I am glad I decided to give it another try. It's located inside hotel Teatro, and within the walking distance from DPAC. Great menu that has tons of different options for everyone. My salmon salad was absolutely delicious: super fresh and perfectly seasoned. Drinks were really good as well. I definitely recommend checking it out if you are in downtown Denver.

French Toast is amazing as well as the bacon!

We stayed at this Hotel while in Denver so naturally we had breakfast at The Nickel. The service was wonderful and the food was delicious. My favorite items from the menu were the French Toast and the Bacon. We also tried the omelette and burrito which were good. Coffee is excellent as well.

Nickel has one thing that nobody else has that I know of. Pecan Bourbon French Toast Casserole! This killer casserole is creamy. No need for syrup! What else? That crunch courtesy of some candied pecans is undeniably unique and so divine! I can't stop eating! Pair it with some crunchy bacon and leave with a smile on your face and a memory of this French toast casserole seared in your mind forever!

I stayed at this hotel earlier this month and just wanted something easy for breakfast so I figured why not try out the hotel restaurant. The servers there were super nice and it wasn't busy so they were always on top of getting me anything I needed. They made me a vanilla latte that was so good I even got another one to go. The breakfast menu was interesting and I wasn't feeling too adventurous so I went with standard breakfast which was good. I had no complaints!

Bar area from corner booth perspective

Overall we had a pleasant experience at the nickel. The atmosphere was clean and inviting, the food was tasty, and the service was excellent. We had 5pm dinner reservations, but we showed up closer to 4pm. We were greeted right away and promptly seated at the corner booth. Best seats in the house because you can see the entire restaurant from there and there's a cozy feeling. It also felt exclusive because there is only 1 corner booth table. The manager presented my wife and I with complimentary champagne! Initially I wondered why, and then I remembered that I mentioned that it was our 12th anniversary. A totally unexpected surprised for us. We loved the gesture, even though my wife can't drink alcohol. No problem though, I drank for both of us and it was delicious. We started with calamari appetizer, which was served with a saffron mayo-based sauce and a chimichurri sauce. The calamari was sliced very thin. We prefer thicker slices and cooked more tender, but the thin slices were appropriate for the way it was cooked. Had they sliced it thicker and cooked it the same way, it would have been way too chewy. The saffron sauce was very nice and we finished it. The chimichurri sauce tasted good, but I wanted a piece of steak to pour it over. There was not too much breading, but we would have preferred less. It actually would have been perfect amount of breading if the calamari were sliced thicker. My wife ordered the salmon and I ordered the duck. Beautiful presentation on both thoughtfully composed entrees. The salmon dish was decent. Skin cooked crisp and presented facing up. We asked for medium salmon, but it was more like medium-well. It still tasted good. Better salmon could be found at restaurants like ocean prime, but that's a pretty high bar. The squid ink risotto should have been cooked longer because it had too much texture; the center of each grain was just on the edge of undercooked. The duck was a perfect medium to medium-rare doneness. The duck skin was marvelously crispy with rendered fat. Espresso carrots were very good too, and something I never encountered before. I also ordered a vesper martini cocktail. It tasted great. Something I noticed is that they don't use bottom shelf liquor to make their featured cocktails. I love this because I always feel self-conscious whenever I order a cocktail from the menu and then ask them to do something like replace the seagram's gin with tanqueray. Our waitress was very nice, friendly, and professional. The prices were decent, considering the location of the restaurant, the quality of the food, and the quantity of food.

After reading other reviews and checking out photos beforehand, I knew the Colorado lamb was a must-order. It's not something I usually go for, but it ended up being my favorite dish of the night. Absolutely worth the hype. We also ordered the birria short rib and hickory smoked picanha, and both were solid choices. The shrimp and corn grits were amazing, and I really loved the aged cheddar mac and cheese. Other dishes like the chickpea croquettes and the chili relleno were also pretty good and rounded out the meal nicely. The wait staff was fantastic. Super friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. The restaurant itself has a cool, lively vibe. We learned where the ingredients were sourced and grown and nuances of preparations down to the smallest of the honey butter served with mouth-watering sourdough bread. I highly recommend reserving the special outdoor cabanas with fireplaces to enhance the experience. This will be a favorite place of mine while visiting Denver.

We didn't take advantage of the patio vibes or rooftop deck with a fire pit, but this is still on our list! While waiting for a table, we cozied up to the bar and ordered drinks. One of the bartenders noticed I ordered the hibiscus margarita and asked me, offhandedly, if I was a fan of spice. Yes, please. With that, he cancelled my order and made me something "not on the menu" but what I called the "Patrick special." So good. Thanks, sir! We ordered burgers and shared their buffalo cauliflower starter. This, my friend, was absolutely amazing. Loved the buffalo spice paired with the bleu cheese. Easy way to enjoy some veggies. And along the same theme, I ordered the Buff and Bleu burger. This was so good, so flavorful and so messy. Don't judge me, but I resorted to using my fork, lol! It was so well balanced. Will have again. Parking here means street parking, but there were plenty of open spots on a Saturday night. The walk was nice. We can't wait to return, maybe on a game day, or maybe to enjoy Sunday brunch on the rooftop. Maybe a sunset for another date night. With this level of yumminess, the possibilities are endless.

We came to Briar Common the day after moving to Denver, and it ended up being exactly the kind of…read morespot we needed after a long weekend of hauling boxes and settling in. Great location, relaxed vibes, especially on a Sunday evening. The beer was solid, but the food stole the show (mostly across the board). Most of our group was happy with their dishes. I had the steak sandwich with a side salad, and the sandwich was top tier. I'm a sucker for a good sandwich, and this one absolutely hit the spot. It was also pretty large, which made it more of a fork-and-knife situation than a handheld one, but no complaints there. A few people in our party upgraded their sides to the sweet potato fries, which were next level. Perfect balance of crispiness with a hint of sweetness that made them stand out. One miss in the group was the mac and cheese; my sister ordered it and wasn't a fan, felt it was too liquidy/runny and underwhelming compared to everything else we tried. Only minor knock overall was that the kitchen was pretty slow, especially considering it wasn't very busy late on a Sunday evening. Not a dealbreaker, but something worth noting if you're in a hurry. Overall, great first Denver meal; good beer, mostly good food, and a relaxed spot that made for a solid welcome to the city.

The food, the service - I couldn't have asked for a better experience after a prior evening letdown. I'm not a chicken lover but the chicken salad sandwich was phenomenal. It was well balanced and the focaccia delic. My absolute favorite were the donuts, I could swim in that compote. Every dish was spot on and I'd absolutely return. Thanks for the Texas inspired margaritas Joe

The server gave us a lot of info like telling us which food dishes were James beard award winning. The breads were yummy but very small and the server came around to distribute it to us individually. We tried the fresh bacon first -- it's basically a piece of pork belly in a garbanzo bean mush with butter / oil around it. I liked the bean mush the most, it added a lot of flavor to the pork. The pork is actually pretty similar to a piece of Kalua pork, we were eating with some Hawaiians and they thought it was just like kalua pork minus rice. I ordered the artichoke tortellini but it was extemely rich and I was a bit shocked by how creamy it was. Served with small pieces of artichoke hearts and some cheese. I found it was best if you ate it with a bit of the broth as it adds a lot of flavor that balances the super creamy tortellini. I loved the dessert-- it's basically a chocolate cake with raspberry sauce. Some of my table mates ordered the peas and carrots dessert and it looked really interesting kind of like a salad. I took off a star because they seemed to keep clearing only half the table and taking away our silverware without giving more. We found ourselves short of utensils a few times! There could also be more clear signage about where the bathroom is.
