My partner and I have been regulars here since their soft opening just over a year ago. (See previous 5-Star Reviews). The food has always been good; the service not as much, but in the current climate that all dining establishments are experiencing--lack of staffing--we have been patient. The barmaid works her tail off; the poor thing having to keep up with customers ordering food and drinks, AND having to make drinks for the restaurant. One evening, after a particularly long wait to place a drink order, my partner spoke to the hostess/manager and told her she should be jumping in where she was needed to help out struggling staff, i.e. the barmaid. Not sure she liked that much. I also don't think she forgot it either. Last night, we arrived without reservations (never had them before) with the intent of sitting in the bar area (which we always do). We were expecting another couple to join us. There was no space at the bar, or at the hi-tops in the bar (which are first come first serve), so our name was put on a list for an outdoor table with a wait of 30-35 minutes. About twenty minutes into our wait, a 4-top in the bar was vacated, so we asked the hostess/manager to remove our name from the outdoor table because we wanted to sit at the hi-top. She refused to do so, stating it would throw off the kitchen. What?? She also told us our table would be ready momentarily. We waited another 25 minutes. The 4-top sat vacant for the remainder of that 25 minute wait. Even if it were to affect the server, our server was the same one assigned to the high top. Let me also mention that in that entire 45 minute wait, we were never served at the bar because the bartender was overwhelmed. Sometimes, you just have to forget about how good the food is when a regular is treated like this. I will not return to this establishment. read more

Came here for the first time to celebrate my dad's birthday, and can't wait to come back! Awesome and attentive service, great atmosphere, and deliciously fresh food made from scratch. They have plenty of indoor and outdoor seating, and the restaurant itself has a wonderful rustic, open atmosphere. We had a hard time deciding on food as everything sounded delicious but we ended up settling on the steamers, clam chowder, MC house salad, and the lobster savannah. Steamers were the biggest I've ever had. The clam chowder was a surprisingly large portion and loaded with clams. I love that their menu has a whole section dedicated to different ways of serving lobster. Upon our server's recommendation, we ordered the lobster savannah. This was deliciously large and stuffed with scallops and mushrooms. It takes a lot of work getting the meat (and messy!) but so worth it. For dessert, we couldn't resist ordering two slices of the blueberry pie and raspberry pie. SO GOOD - without a doubt, the best blueberry pie I've had so far. You could see the small Maine blueberries in the filling, and it was not exceedingly sweet and artificial like many pies can be. The pie crust was flakey and substantial in all the right ways. Every single thing on the menu was fantastic. My cousin had the shrimp scampi and it was so so good- silky and not overly garlicky! I had the fried chicken and it was truly the best I ever had. I never finish my food when I go out to eat, but I forged through and finished this chicken just because it was so good. I was looking for a relaxing dinner last night and hit up The Maine Catch. Sat at the bar and was greeted by Sherry. Not only did she make an outstanding martini, but her personality was vibrant and so welcoming. The bar had a nice vibe with lots of locals, chatting it up. I think Sherry has quite a following and I clearly see why. Dinner was fantastic. I had the Lobster Cobb Salad. It was so fresh. Mouthwatering. It was served in a short amount of time and with a smile. Sherry was very attentive and professional. I lingered around for a delish piece of raspberry pie and a scotch. A beautiful thing! My husband and I had lunch here during a quick stay in a Ogunquit and we were very happy with our experience! The waitress was lovely and there was wonderful seating indoors and outdoors. My husband loves oysters and we got a great selection for the typical $3.50 each. The beer on tap was a nice thick selection and they had specialty drinks. We love a good lobster roll and while we were in Maine we still like it Connecticut style which is buttered and they did have this alternative. We ordered wine and the crab cake appetizer with a nice lemon aioli, delicious. I had the Baked Stuffed Lobster and my girlfriend, the Lobster Risotto. I found it odd that the lobster was stuffed with scallops, shrimp and breadcrumbs but the tail and claws of the lobster were left for the customer to fight with. Usually, in my experience, in other New England States, the tail and claws are stuffed into the body of the lobster. A Baked, Stuffed Lobster should not be this much work! The Maine Catch is just ok. Nothing wowed me or even close, but nothing was terrible. The service was fine if not a bit slow. We ordered the fried calamari which came with a nice spicy sauce. However, the calamari was rubbery and the fried crust wasn't crispy at all. I had the linguini and clams which just wasn't very good. The pasta was cooked fine and the sauce was nice enough, but it came with only 6 or 7 clams and they were all phenomenally over cooked (or at least I hope that's why they looked like something had chewed them). Someone in my party had the halibut and she described it as being way over cooked and dry. Very disappointing. There were 10 of us and tried a bunch - apps calamari and mussels (thanks to waiters recommendation) , fried faves fish and chips and whole belly clam, lobster rolls with chowdas, pastas, seafood newburg and the filet and have to say everything was delicious even the fries! A group of 8 locals had reservations tonight. When we arrived, the table wasn't ready. We waited 5-10 minutes for a server, who came to the table with water and snnounced she would be our server. At least 10 minutes went by without gwtting menus, or taking a drink order. The server was attending to every other table but ours, almost as if she was avoiding us. I went to the manager to inquire about the delay, and shortly thereafter the server showed up with menus, and never asked for a drink order. 10-15 minutes later, the server came back to take our order for drinks and dinner. No bread for the table was offered. Two of us ordered an app. After another 15 minutes, one was delivered, and the other app didn't arrive until at least 20 minutes later. It was another 20 minutes before the entrees arrived, most of which were cold. The manager (clearly inexperienced) stopped by our table twice to apologize. No compensation was offered, nor did he attempt to assist the server in any way. Everything about this evening was a disaster. Lack of experienced management, clear lack of employee training, and kitchen issues guaranteed that this group of locals will not be back to this restaurant. . read more

Server Tara and Garrett are servers Ive had before in Portland, so happy that I have a photographic memory that I could remember their faces. This is the best spot in Ogunquit now. What an absolutely delightful experience, start to finish. All the food was tasty and delicious. We had the ribeye steak, Penne fra Diavolo, fried chicken, and the baked sole for entrees.
