Utter disappointment. Previous experience was fantastic so we brought family to enjoy the Lab. We ordered three halibut entrees and all three were over cooked. The manager was flippant in the interaction and reluctantly re-prepared the halibut. This time they were even worse. The response we received was "we temp all our food. Well, that may be true but that means nothing until you get it to a table. Poor food and the way the situation was handled made it worse. $250 for dinner - save $240 and go to McDonalds. read more

We came here for dinner on my daughter's birthday. We were visiting and randomly walked up to this place. So happy we did! We sat outside on the patio and the weather was beautiful, they have heaters if needed. The service was phenomenal! We had just left 333 pacific because the service was terrible so we came here and got amazing service from everyone thankfully! We ordered the 18oz ribeye, perfectly cooked! The surf and turf marinated steak was yummy too, but the shrimp was unfortunately overcooked. They were chewy but the flavor and seasoning was great. Ceasar salad was good, buffalo wings were super spicy but delicious. My kids especially loved this place and told me to rate it 5/5. I gave 4 stars because it was a Thursday night, and as everyone knows, Thursday evenings Oceanside hosts its weekly Sunset Market, so there are people in droves all around this area, and having ONLY ONE bartender was a lack of planning and foresight. Our group consisted of about 16 people, and we only came for drinks. I do realize that making drinks for that many people is a feat, and even with 2 or 3 bartenders we would expect to wait, but waiting 20+ minutes for a drink was beyond the pale. They should stock up on bartenders Thursday thru Sunday. But I don't blame the staff, as they were incredibly accommodating, VERY friendly, sweet, kind and funny. They gave us a large table and had to move 2 smaller tables over, so I very much appreciate their service. The drinks are spectacular, and this place has AMBIENCE! It's very clean, stylish and chic! And you can't beat that it's located a stone's throw from the beach. I also love that this place is modern and peppered with windows. I'll definitely be back! Wow! Location, service and food were all above and beyond our expectations! We came in around 8:30pm and it wasn't to busy on a Wednesday night. We had the option to sit outside but chose a table inside next to a giant TV so we could watch the basketball games. Everyone was so friendly and our food was prepared and delivered to us very quickly. Our server made amazing food recommendations. The burger was so big you could barely fit it in your mouth. Fries and tater tots were crispy and seasoned to perfection. The Birria sandwich was an amazing new discovery based on our servers recommendation. Everything was just perfect! read more

This was my friend's and I's first time here. Even though it was really cold, we opted to get seated outside table with a fire in the middle which was enough to keep us warm our entire stay there. We started off my ordering drinks which I order the Mexican Martini which had me a little spectacle about the drink due to the Olive juice that gets added to the drink but I was sold when our server stated that it came with a Takin rim and that it would not taste so much like olives. We ordered food and I went with the Oside or No side and let me just say I was not expecting a huge piece of fried chicken to be the center of attention for me but it was. My friend order a salad which looked appetizing enough for the both of us as well. We got a side of fries which you can never go wrong with. Over all the food was amazing and I would recommend it for a catch up dinner spot. The service was amazing and I would like to recognize Kai for the amazing service he provided us. read more

Went here today with my newborn son and daughter...total suicide mission without my wife but I said screw it I wanna try this place. Was greeted at the door and from then on the service was amazing. Sabrina was my waitress and she was truly awesome!!! I had to order fast because I'm on borrowed time with 2 kids and no mom with me. I ordered the birra sandwich and pretzel and sausage plate. Food came out quick. That's when the fun began. My newborn son started to wake up and my daughter was becoming a terrorist... I began to eat my food with my newborn son in my hands and it just wasn't working so I was just letting my daughter eat. Sabrina noticed I was drowning and offered to hold my newborn son. In which I said are you sure she said absolutely, she said enjoy your food. So I began to eat and boy was the food good, the birra sauce for the sandwich was phenomenal and the cheese dip for the pretzel and sausage was so good. This place was great! I went for the first time this weekend and had a great experience. The service was fantastic and the food was all very delicious. The pretzel only came with four very small pieces of sausage, which was kind of underwhelming, and the chicken sandwich had too much breading for my taste. The Lab has really good drinks which I tried there old fashion and it was really good. My wife tried their up late martini. We didn't get a chance to try their food but great selection on the menu. We definitely recommend this place to try out with family and friends and kids. read more

Went here for an early dinner. Sat outside at a table with fire pit in the middle and the heat definitely kept us warm enough. I might watch kids or unruly adults though, they might lose an eyebrow if they get too close. They made me a hot toddy which was pretty good and my friend had a mocktail which was ok. The service was good and the waitress was friendly. My friend ordered the crab cake salad which she liked it lot. The crab cakes were done well. I ordered the chicken sandwich (Oside or no side). The waitress did let me know but this thing was huge!! It was like 3 chicken breasts piled on top so I couldn't really fit the whole thing in my mouth and I could definitely only eat half. It was also just the sandwich, no fries or salad or anything on the side. The bourbon habanero sauce was different but pretty good. Not too sweet. Prices were decent. Nothing really pops about this place but it's a solid place to grab a bite to eat. They did have some other stuff on their menu that looked enticing so I'd def go back. read more

EAT HERE!! Our 2nd time coming here and it did not disappoint. Walked in without a reservation and was sat right away even though they were very busy. Ordered martinis that came out very strong and cold. Had to have the biscuits because they are AMAZING! GET THEM! They were hot and fresh out of the oven.MMMMM! I dream of them biscuits! I had the Leek Soup & added Spicy Shrimp to it. My daughter had the Burger and my sister had the Chicken plate! The portions are GIGANTIC! We took half of each entree home. The food is so good and it is served by friendly accommodating employees. Our waitress checked on us and made sure we had everything we needed. They were so busy but we did not feel at all like they were! The restaurant is decorated for the holidays. Perfect photo opp. The outside fire pits were lit adding to the ambiance. I usually don't write reviews, but this place absolutely deserves it. The food was overpriced and completely underwhelming--nothing special at all, especially for the price. And don't get me started on the service. It was horrible. Our server was rude, barely checked in on us, and seemed annoyed when we asked for anything. We waited forever for our food, and when it finally came, it was cold and bland. I've had better meals at fast food chains. This place is a total rip-off. This is a fun spot for eating good food, people watching, and not worrying about speaking softly. It does get loud, especially since it is one large open space. The salads and entree items are surprisingly large portions. The potato and burnt leek soup was delicious. The spicy shrimp salad had good heat and was flavorful. The chocolate and peanut butter mousse was decadent and something worth trying once - not something I would order again as it was creamy overload, needed a crisp cookie. We had our wedding rehearsal dinner here and have come many times before/after that. We have always had an amazing experience both with service and food. We have heard good things from friends about the Lab Collab so expectations were high going in. We picked this spot to meet friends from out of town and expectations were met and then some. Each one of our food selections was fantastic! We started with the Bourbon Maple Bacon Brussels Sprouts. Out came a large rectangular plate piled HIGH with food! Plenty of bacon and blue cheese and other goodies to amp up the sprouts. For a starter it was easily enough for 4 to share. There was a lot going on in the dish but all of the flavors are well balanced and work well together. Other items we enjoyed: Berry and Burrata Salad with chicken (the chicken was called out for being especially delicious, not the afterthought you sometimes get when adding chicken to a salad); Birria Sandwich; Red Wine Braised Beef Cheeks; and the classic Fried Chicken. The beef cheeks were served in a small pot with fingerling potatoes and carrots. The beef was super tender and delicious, just what you would expect from braised beef cheeks. All the elements of the fried chicken were on point too - the chicken itself, the gravy, the biscuit, and the corn. No leftovers on that one! The birria was great too, made me think of a Oaxacan version of a french dip. Tasty beef and great consomme for dipping. We will for sure be back to try more of their menu! read more
