First of all, HOLY MOLY. This was beyond the greatest discovery my boyfriend and I had made in Saint Augustine. To support that, we made a trip to get a popsicle 3 out of 4 days during our stay in Saint Augustine. My first treat was mango champagne flavored, and my god, it was the greatest popsicle of my life. I also tried Mexican hot chocolate (spicy & DELICIOUS) and the pineapple mojito (not even mad it didn't have actual alcohol). The employees were super knowledgeable and extremely professional. We had many questions, but our biggest one was "when are you bringing these to Detroit?!" That being said, we think this brand would do amazing in Detroit, and would love to be apart of that! The Hyppo is an absolute go-to whenever I visit St. Augustine. I prefer this location than the one on St. George street. Although this one is a bit snug, it's not as busy. Whenever you visit I suggest writing down what you try, since they have a huge variety of flavors. I do this so I can try something new each time. Also, do not forget the stamp cards! No complaints here since we just go in and out, the staff is always so pleasant, and the popsicles are to die for. I'm so glad there's a couple of spots up in Jacksonville that I can always visit, but I guess it says something if I absolutely need to make this place a pit stop when I'm near. read more

I don't love popsicles, I probably would've given this a 3 but both of my parents enjoyed it here and there were tons of little kids in there having fun too. This place does gourmet popsicles, what makes them gourmet is......the flavors? Normally I would say the ingredients but I just didn't feel that was the case with these. They had so many flavors when we walked in, sadly the one I wanted, avocado dark chocolate was out so I opted for the chocolate sea salt and the elvis. Both were good and refreshing but very cold. I should've let it warm a little bit and my tongue got stuck on it and I ripped it off losing a layer of skin. Luckily I got two of them so I only made that mistake on one. The pops were very good, I think I liked the chocolate the most, I wonder what is in their ingredients though. Mine tasted like it could've been condensed milk, which I'm not sure I would say is gourmet. I've seen reviews for this place on Yelp and thought it sounded interesting. We passed by on a nice relaxing evening and we stopped in. Friendly isn't a fair enough description for Juan who helped us. He was awesome at describing their products, and he was just a good dude. The pops were really tasty. I had the Riesling Pear and it was so refreshing and flavorful. I loved the texture and bright flavor the pear pulp provided so much. My wife had the Apple Cranberry and also enjoyed it. It's a bit pricy at $3.75 per popsicle, but for the experience and the fantastic customer service I can't complain. read more

The idea of a paleta or popsicle or whateveryouwannacallit isn't original, but not many people have actually opened a store that sells just that. I grew up with our own very similar version that can be bought from the side of the road (the best food always are), so I had high expectations of The Hyppo. Especially at $3.50 each. I wasn't disappointed in the least. It wasn't even hot out this weekend (it was actually a little chilly) and we still enjoyed our paletas very much. So much so that we returned the next day! The Elvis Presley and Lavender Lemonade were delicious, refreshing, and definitely hit the dessert spot. It's also light enough that you don't feel you had just gained 10 pounds 'cos you splurged on a dessert item. They experiment with flavors all the time so their menu is always changing. Ask them for tips! That's what we did and both recommendations were excellent. The decor is also cute and vibrant, and every person there was friendly. They had so many fantastic flavors, but I decided to go for a lighter, sweeter flavor. Spiciness & fruit is a familiar combination to my peoplez, so of course I went with a Chipotle + fruit (peach) flavor. It was fantastic. I wish I got 5 more different pops. It's too bad they didn't have a Tajin + Mango flavor, but I suppose the Cuban/Spanish influence is much stronger than the Mexican one (obviously). If they did have a Mango Chamoy flavor though...you bet your butts I'd buy a few more ice pops. It's not like ice pops are difficult to make, but the flavor combinations are creative, familiar, classic, &/or unique. I must absolutely go back for 5 more pops. I had seen the excellent reviews on Yelp, and had to try them on a recent trip to St. Augustine. I tried the pistachio coconut, and my husband tried the honeydew melon. The Pistachio coconut was amazing, and the pistachios were toasted to the pint where it almost tasted caramel-like when mixed with the coconut. YUM. My husband's honeydew was a bit too sweet as they also mixed it with honey in addition to the melon. However, we still went back today and tried the Mexican hot-chocolate (chocolate, cinnamon, and cayenne pepper), and the regular coconut (two of the four flavors left). Both were great. Our only complaint is that they make such small batches of the popsicles, that a flavor that is there one day will not be there the next :( Oh well, this is the price one must pay for "awesomeness." read more
