Came by for a weekend of St. Patrick's Day. Had to try their Irish Breakfast along with an Irish Coffee. Feeling very green, now.

My wife came here with her work friends and had a great time, so I was inspired to come visit with my daughter and my Mom, and then later with my wife. Here's where I think the Harp excels: Live music nights. Come have some beers and enjoy the live music. 9/10 BSU or college football nights. Come have some beers, maybe play some pool, and have a good time. 8/10 Here's where I think the Harp needs some help I understand that everything is homemade / made to order/made from scratch. I totally understand, but the gaps in service are just too long. In the three times I have visited, I have had to wait for food or drinks. I do appreciate the apology and the comp of the beer, but I believe what is lacking is the awareness of your customers. If you see that the pint is half-full, check in and ask if they want another. If there's a delay in the food order, bring some peanuts. It's called being on top of your customers and then distracting them. For now, I would not recommend eating or snacking here, the wait is simply too long, and there are not sufficient available snacks while you're having a drink. Does this mean I won't be back? No. It just means I'm going under the right circumstances, like live music and enjoy a pint of Smithwick's

Small and casual Irish pub. The service was attentive. They truly seem to care. The Reuben was good but the bread left something to be desired. It seemed to be a simple store bought and not a special rye or marble rye as we hoped. The flavors were good. The Bangers and mash was tasty and good better than the Reuben and would be my recommendation. Overall good and if you fancy a beer and some time to relax a good choice

What a great Irish restaurant. Love the atmosphere and food. The soda bread is amazing same with the Guinness soup. I would get it every time. All the bartenders there and personal and friendly. I have been to Dublin,Ireland twice and this place made we think I was back there. Wish I would have found this place sooner on my trip up here.

We really liked this place! The staff was welcoming and friendly and the beer was great! We had the shepherds pie and the bangers and mash. It was filling but really good. Totally will go back!

We finished our walk and made our way to the restaurant. This will be our 6th year having lunch here. Trying to keep our traditions alive. As a courtesy, we called the day before to let management know that they will be expecting a party of 20. This joint charges 30 bucks per person for reservations as a deposit. 30 bucks?!? It's quite humorous really, 30 dollar deposit is more than a majority of their meals they charge. The manager on duty last year told us to call to let them know for a heads up but not necessarily make a reservation. And of course that manager doesn't work there anymore. The manager I spoke with was a complete joke. "Saturday is our busiest day". We'll, if it's your busiest day than why aren't you properly staffed? "We can't just serve you in 2 seconds". Never have I asked to be served in 2 seconds. What kind of management team do you have running this joint? Clearly unprofessional clowns. We showed up at opening. Clearly I wasn't taken seriously since the hostess had no clue about our large party coming. No tables were set up. "You should have came at 11:30". I didn't know that we had to accommodate to the manager and his timing. He set up our tables and didn't even bother with us the whole time we were there. Food was good. I had the salmon. I had asked for my salmon to be overly cooked. With my new kidney, I can't have anything like fish and beef rare. My fish was not cooked the way I asked and had to be sent back. I expressed to the server if needed out more than well done. So honestly, I don't think the cook took my request seriously. Last year eating at the restaurant was a crap show. This year is a bigger crap show. So many better restaurants in town that don't have this ridiculous reservation fee and yet this joint does. Management here is on the same tier as a trash can. Honestly, after this last visit, we might consider going to another joint to start a new tradition. My family and our money is worth more than the disrespect management gave us.

We started our meal with the white truffle bread appetizer and it was phenomenal. Lots of garlic, of course, and a great truffle flavor (one of my favorites). We also had the calamari appetizer with an aioli and house-made marinara. Both sauces were fantastic and I was grateful that the calamari were all rings, no tentacles. One of my pet-peeves is calamari with a bunch of dry, meatless tentacles added to fill up the plate. The entrees were absolutely delicious. I had the smashed meatball ragu which had an abundance of meat and great flavor. My wife had the "Sunday Lasagna" and is still talking about how good it was a week later. And, coming from an Italian lady who makes a crazy-good lasagna, that is a HUGE complement. We ended with a Tiramisu, my go to at any Italian restaurant, and it was creamy, full of espresso flavor and worth having again. I see that some reviews are talking about slow turn times in receiving their food. We have noticed, in the times we have come, that it does take some time to get our food but, when you see one of the cooks rolling out their homemade pasta in the kitchen, you give grace. Last thing. I cannot end without mentioning our waitress. She was beyond good at making us feel welcome and being prompt, responsive and a joy to interact with. Her name was Ashley and, if you get to be at one of her tables, you will be in for a treat. North Italia is a great choice for lunch or dinner if you are willing to sit back, relax and experience some of the freshest, most-flavorful food in the Meridian area.

For some reason, we were seated in a corner booth near the bathrooms, while other customers were seated elsewhere in the restaurant. We didn't mind, however, because it was nice and quiet. And, for me, convenient. My wife had the Sirloin Salad, and I had the Ahi Poke Salad. My wife said that her meat was cooked the way she likes it, and the rest of the ingredients were delicious. For me, the ahi, sesame vinaigrette dressing, wonton strips, onions, and greens were very good. The food is always good at The Tavern. And, the prices are reasonable. Unlike our past experiences, the service this time around was not up to our usual. Our server, Hannah C., seemed in a rush and impatient. Though she told us to ask her if we had questions, I didn't find her responses to be pleasant. The first dish my wife was interested in had Boursin cheese. My wife had not heard of it, and she cannot eat a lot of cheese. She preferred something milder, like mozarella. When she inquired of Hannah, the reply was terse. "We don't have mozarella." "Do you have another milder cheese?" "Like what?" Not in a nice way, and not professional, in my opinion. And, she was loud. We waited longer than usual for our food, and when Hannah brought it, she just dropped the plates and split. To her credit, she did check in on us once during our meal. Now I don't know what kind of day Hannah was having. Maybe not so good. I don't know what kind of person she is, and I'll give her the benefit of the doubt that she is a nice woman. Hopefully she is not like how she was with us to all of her customers. I'm a 20% tipper. For her, it was 18%. I wasn't given a choice, but I would have gone down to 15%.

The reason we went back the second time was because we remembered how good the food was and how nearby it was too. The second time the food was still really good, but the service was HORRENDOUS. Brittney was such a ***** to me and my parents, my mom especially. My mom was complimenting her and something about the food, and she straight up just walked away in the middle of my mom still talking. And no it wasn't busy. It was towards the end of the night, there was maybe 2-3 other customers there. She acted like we were bothering her the whole time. Then once she'd leave us would just stand up at the bar flirting with the other guy working there and just ignore anyone else. Then on top of all of that, my dad tells me she added $10 onto her tip! FRAUD!!! I've attached photos as evidence. My dad still tipped her even though she was so rude and disrespectful. But apparently that wasn't enough for her and added $10 onto the total. I cannot believe that. And my dad tells me it was difficult to get his $10 back after calling and talking to the manager. He didn't get the name of the manager but he said that they were just making excuses and saying oh but she's our best server. Obviously not! Saying things like oh she must've just been really busy. Again, we were there when it was dead and about to close soon, no it was not busy. It's almost as if this business does this type of thing often because there was no alarm from the manager, then finally after much deliberation decided to send back the $10. Absolutely ridiculous. No : "I'm so sorry here's a free meal on us", or atleast a "here's a coupon or gift card for next time you come in", nothing. This is the type of thing that gets people closed down. We should report to the BBB. This is insane. And to not be offered anything to make it right is what really gets me. Like do they not want us to ever come back??? Not to mention tell everyone we know, etc. Yikes! And this is what we get for wanting to support local businesses instead of going to the big chains. What a bummer.
