You guys, we were SO SO looking forward to eating here. Loved the idea of its being in a historical building. Loved the name. Loved the whole idea of it (did not try the new addition called "The Yard" which is open whenever the Hardware Store is not open, and serves BBQ (?)). Anyway! It was a hard choice whether to come for breakfast/brunch of dinner and I'm going to say we chose the wrong one. We went for dinner and it was, sadly, a disappointment. There is a fashion for char on food and it works for some items - the chef here on this evening seemed to think it was applicable to ALL items. Every single thing we ordered was overcooked, dry, and much of it was burnt inappropriately. I have, for instance, never in my life been handed a very charred piece of pita bread to go with...anything! The accompanying sauce and cucumbers for the satay were good. The burger my friend ordered was nowhere near her request for medium/medium rare - it was cooked all the way through. FYI, many menu items shown online are not on the menu at this time. The affogato for dessert was tasty. The truffle fries were good. The one bright spot - our server was incredible. Thank you, Colby. You were so agreeable and friendly, so helpful and cheerful. You're awesome! Next time we'll try breakfast and hopefully have better luck.

This was our first time here, a friend suggested it. The food was excellent, couldn't decide so I got the Sailors Plate(clam chowder, fish, fries with old Bay seasoning) especially enjoyed the tartar sauce. Our server was very friendly

We came for lunch on a Saturday. The restaurant was full of other patrons, but we were seated immediately. It was nice seeing artwork from local artists displayed on the walls and some available for purchase. It got the Veggie Burger. It was spicy and so flavorful. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I asked for their aioli to go with the fries. It was a delectable meal. The server was friendly and attentive. I cannot wait to come back when I visit Vashon Island next.

Stopped here for lunch after seeing the Troll and Light House. Very casual restaurant. Service was good. It's a little bit pricey. I ordered a BLT ($19), I wouldn't recommend it. They used cherry tomatoes, which was awkward on a sandwich. I only was able to eat half. My son and his wife had the fish and chips ($25). They said it was good, and said the coleslaw was very good. Strawberry lemonade they charge $6 for the lemonade and $3 for the flavor. It's also a very limited menu.

There aren't many "breakfast food" options in Vashon, and this place is certainly out of the list! We ordered our drinks, which took some time to be delivered considering they were simple, and the restaurant was not busy. The food tasted as disappointing as it looks! The poached eggs were overly eat, soaking the muffin... the best part of the meal was the crunchy hash brown. I believe a lot of people go to this place for sentimental reasons, because the food, drinks and service are subpar!

Loved the historic pictures and art in the restaurant. Great atmosphere. Family friendly. Food is fresh and well made. Restroom is clean and nicely decorated. Servers are attentive and thoughtful. This place will be my place to eat when I am in Vashon in the future!

Go to The Yard! It is their outdoor patio area with amazing food options: Smoked brisket, fried chicken thigh sandwich, rockfish Chicken, etc...and the tots are tasty!. Th-Sun. Check it out!

Green salad and clam chowder. The drink was made with hibiscus.

After a fun day in Seattle, but not being able to find a place to eat without paying $35 to park or…read morefind a table (for a late lunch), I remembered that some friends of ours took us to an amazing seafood place in Tacoma right next to the water...but hidden away from all the large and corporate-type restaurants on Rustin Way. I couldn't remember the name of the place, but we found it: The Fish Peddler! We must have arrived at a perfect interval because there was a table for two that had just been bussed and ready for us near the large counter in the back where food was collected by servers and presented to hungry patrons at any of the 30-40 tables. Our server was genuinely warm and delightful and guided us to the menu and the on-line beer on tap information. Drinks were ordered and delivered in minutes - just enough time for us to announce our selections: A 3-piece halibut and chips for her, and for me, the albacore tuna with spring greens and gouda cheese on sourdough with a pint of I'm Not Afraid Of Music. It had the lowest alcohol content, and since I was driving, didn't want to push my luck. When our huge white dinner plates arrived - oh - did I mention the amazing jalapeño coleslaw? - we were amazed at the size of the perfectly deep fried halibut - which, on their own, provide a good bite, making only a smitten of tartar sauce necessary because you gotta have tartar sauce with fried fish, after all, right? I picked up one my sandwich haves and removed the toothpick with too much gusto and suffered a small splinter that I couldn't remove until I got home a couple of hours later with the help of a magnifying glass, a tweezer and some masking tape. But I ignored the splinter while I enjoyed my "this is NOT your mom's - or HER mom's - Tuna melt". The perfect balance of the albacore spread with the gouda showing up gloriously in almost every bite, the pillowy and cool greens and tomato slice that balanced the heat from the albacore between the two lightly toasted sourdough was my Valentine's Day gift to my mouth. We were stuffed, but not defeated - we ordered our cheesecake to go, and I get to have the last piece of halibut for a snack later on! It was great getting re-acquainted with This cozy, fun, busy restaurant since our last (and first) visit 3 years ago. My only regret is that for some unknown but surely inexcusable reason, I had waited three years before returning. Won't happen again.

This is a casual place, but the food is quality. We got the fish and chips, which were perfectly crispy. The black cod miso was superb. Very fresh and light and flaky and flavorful. We also got the lobster roll. It definitely rivals a lobster roll from the east coast. The service was great. They took care of everything well. This isn't fancy, but it's just a good seafood place for friends, business or families.

We were seated in the back corner with perfect views of the water and islands across. And were created by seals swimming around throughout the night. I started with the Mango Sticky Rice cocktail, which was delicious. For apps, we had the fried calamari (wish it was crispier), pho inspired pork ribs, and the salmon dip, both were big hits with our group. Most of us built our own sets. I got the miso glazed cod with the Hawaii set, and the cod was perfect: flaky, juicy and flavorful. Portions look light at first, but you'll leave full. I teach culinary at a couple of colleges and he used to teach at one of the largest culinary colleges in the country. Three of us ordered the miso cod and one ordered poke. We also ordered some appetizers, including chicken satay and beef ribs. The ribs were very flavorful and well cooked. The chicken was dry and disappointing, and all three fish dishes were overcooked. It was embarrassing for me to bring my friend there. We have been going to Roy's restaurants in Hawaii since he opened his first restaurant, and Woven was greatly under our expectations for a fine dining experience -- especially based on our past experiences with Roy's which were mostly very positive. I wrote to the restaurant about our experience and never heard back. The service was pretty good but not really to the level it should have been for this kind of restaurant.
