You guys, we were SO SO looking forward to eating here. Loved the idea of its being in a historical building. Loved the name. Loved the whole idea of it (did not try the new addition called "The Yard" which is open whenever the Hardware Store is not open, and serves BBQ (?)). Anyway! It was a hard choice whether to come for breakfast/brunch of dinner and I'm going to say we chose the wrong one. We went for dinner and it was, sadly, a disappointment. There is a fashion for char on food and it works for some items - the chef here on this evening seemed to think it was applicable to ALL items. Every single thing we ordered was overcooked, dry, and much of it was burnt inappropriately. I have, for instance, never in my life been handed a very charred piece of pita bread to go with...anything! The accompanying sauce and cucumbers for the satay were good. The burger my friend ordered was nowhere near her request for medium/medium rare - it was cooked all the way through. FYI, many menu items shown online are not on the menu at this time. The affogato for dessert was tasty. The truffle fries were good. The one bright spot - our server was incredible. Thank you, Colby. You were so agreeable and friendly, so helpful and cheerful. You're awesome! Next time we'll try breakfast and hopefully have better luck.

This was our first time here, a friend suggested it. The food was excellent, couldn't decide so I got the Sailors Plate(clam chowder, fish, fries with old Bay seasoning) especially enjoyed the tartar sauce. Our server was very friendly

We came for lunch on a Saturday. The restaurant was full of other patrons, but we were seated immediately. It was nice seeing artwork from local artists displayed on the walls and some available for purchase. It got the Veggie Burger. It was spicy and so flavorful. I thoroughly enjoyed it. I asked for their aioli to go with the fries. It was a delectable meal. The server was friendly and attentive. I cannot wait to come back when I visit Vashon Island next.

Stopped here for lunch after seeing the Troll and Light House. Very casual restaurant. Service was good. It's a little bit pricey. I ordered a BLT ($19), I wouldn't recommend it. They used cherry tomatoes, which was awkward on a sandwich. I only was able to eat half. My son and his wife had the fish and chips ($25). They said it was good, and said the coleslaw was very good. Strawberry lemonade they charge $6 for the lemonade and $3 for the flavor. It's also a very limited menu.

There aren't many "breakfast food" options in Vashon, and this place is certainly out of the list! We ordered our drinks, which took some time to be delivered considering they were simple, and the restaurant was not busy. The food tasted as disappointing as it looks! The poached eggs were overly eat, soaking the muffin... the best part of the meal was the crunchy hash brown. I believe a lot of people go to this place for sentimental reasons, because the food, drinks and service are subpar!

Loved the historic pictures and art in the restaurant. Great atmosphere. Family friendly. Food is fresh and well made. Restroom is clean and nicely decorated. Servers are attentive and thoughtful. This place will be my place to eat when I am in Vashon in the future!

Go to The Yard! It is their outdoor patio area with amazing food options: Smoked brisket, fried chicken thigh sandwich, rockfish Chicken, etc...and the tots are tasty!. Th-Sun. Check it out!

Green salad and clam chowder. The drink was made with hibiscus.

This was not a bad lunch spot. Nothing terrific, but suitable for a small island. I'm always a sucker for soup, and that was good.

We were staying in Vashon and came in here for breakfast. This place was busy on a Sunday morning…read morewith just two women running the front area. Our waitress was really nice but she was running around non-stop doing everything. We had to flag her down a few times. The dishes had good portions. I ordered the classic egg plate and the sausage patties were a bit too salty. My friend ordered the pancake plate and they loved it. Said it was really fluffy and delicious. Another friend ordered their omelet and that was huge too. He also enjoyed his meal.

Dang. I wanted to like this Sports Bar…read more Meh food. Service was friendly, but a bit off their game. The vodka soda drink I ordered took SO long we figured our server didn't turn in the order bec my partner's drink was served quickly. When we saw the bartender make a drink for themself, REALLY!?! we assumed my order hadn't been turned in, so we ordered one from the bartender. In the end I got a duplicate order. (But were only charged for one. Fair.) We asked for the French burger to be cooked as rare as possible. I joked I liked it to "moooo". It was served medium well. Zero pink. ZERO PINK! All gray. Yuck! Fish and chips were served piping hot, but nothing special. Drive thru window food. My skinny fries were not piping hot so I didn't care for them. The interior was so chilly that the few patrons there left their coats on the entire time. My partner never took off his parka the entire meal. We mentioned the very chilly air to our server upon our arrival, and she said they just bumped up the thermostat before we walked in. They must have a very slow HVAC. The overhead bright LED lights did nothing to create a cozy ambiance. Quite the opposite in fact. I was dear friends w a restaurant owner for many years, and he taught me to check out the restrooms of any new eating establishment first. (Restaurant Owners will often keep the customers restrooms cleaner than the kitchen.). The bathrooms here seemed pretty clean, but my quick peek into the kitchen as I was walking by was appalling, ...grungy doesn't begin to explain what my casual glance saw. A stiff scrub brush and bleach would transform the kitchen. I wasn't snooping, I literally walked past what anyone could see on their way from the restrooms. Lest I forget to mention that the menu I saw online included Reuben sandwiches, ...YUM, and Montecristo sandwiches WHAT MY PARTNER WAS JONESING FOR... and fried chicken.. OUR FAVORITE. Sadly we did not realize until we got there that only the skimpy bar menu is offered at 6 o'clock on a Sunday. So pretty much everything on the menu was "fast food". Frozen food then Deep fried. BIG DISAPPOINTMENT I wanted to like this place, but, alas, I will not be going back. Ever.

It was super cute!! It felt like we were at an outdoor wedding reception. It was just so surprisingly spacious and cozy outside. The pastas were wonderfully delicious. Perfectly cooked pasta with bold flavors. We got their risotto special and oh my gosh, was it ever so flavorful and full of different textures. Crispy, salty cubes of guanciale; the veggie broth-infused, perfectly al dente risotto; and the creamy mildness of the mascarpone made for perfect bites of pure yum! And that Caesar salad...sooooo yummy! Each bite was like biting into a cloud of goodness. The soft, freshly grated parm was so delightful. And the lemon zest just put it over the edge! One of the best Caesar salads I've had. Quick and friendly service! It was busy but our food came out quickly. It just felt like a fun, rustic, and quaint dinner experience. We want to come back for more the next time we visit Vashon!!

And yes, the 16-hour, two-day drive was worth it. The pizza comes out hot and ready. The cooks use that authentic pizza oven, which you can see it in action as soon as you walk into the joint. All the pizza is made with real meat, real dough and real cheese---nothing tastes frozen. Let that sink in for a minute. Then get ready to sink your teeth in. Cheesy, I know. There is communal outdoor seating, nice for a small meetup or 7 hungry teenagers. Great spot! A little slice of paradise on an island. Teacher-approved.

We came by after happy hour at Anthony's and listened to a live set of great music. The place was packed, but everyone is friendly and was willing to share their table with us. We had a great time and I strongly recommend coming by the Quarterdeck to chill and listen to live music. Can't believe it took me 20 years of living in Seattle to find this place. So, don't repeat my mistake.

Quarterdeck is what I like to call a "come for the vibes, stay for the drinks, eat... somewhere…read moreelse" kind of place. I stopped by while visiting Seattle and while the food situation was a bit chaotic (they had rotating menus because they were out of a few items), I ended up ordering a kimchi-inspired sandwich that I wanted to love...but it just didn't do it for me. Not inedible, maybe a 2/5, but I'd definitely try something else next time. My friend ordered what I think was the Garden Harvest Wrap (a staple on the menu), and that was more of a 3/5. Both dishes were served cold (intentionally), which I think made a difference, I could totally see them being much better if they were warm. Now let's talk about what is worth it: the mimosa flight. SO good. Like dangerously easy to sit there, sip through all of them, and forget any minor food disappointments. But honestly, the real star here is the ambiance. You're right on the water with the most effortless, breezy, coastal energy. Boats drifting by, sun hitting just right, people lingering over drinks--it's giving main character energy in the best way. I found myself wanting to stay way longer than planned and even doing some work while there. This is absolutely a spot I'd come back to, just with a strategy: eat before or after, and come here to sip, sit by the water, and take a little walk on the dock. 5 stars for the vibes alone
