When it came to Vashon a decade ago it was the first genuinely good food on the island and spearheaded a welcome influx of high quality restaurants. Pretty good portions here. Got the tacos with guacamole, all different meats and the Mulitas. I have to say that the Mulitas were so good. I've never had it before and it blew my tacos out of the park. I think it was the crispy shell with the cheese. Tacos were pretty good too and very filling. Great neighborhood spot. We stopped by this restaurant while exploring Vashon. It was WONDERFUL! You order at the front/pay initially and sit down on your own. They have water, utensils, napkins already on the tables. The lengua tacos with guacamole are one of my favorite foods. The atmosphere is warm and comfortable. The food is consistently good.

Solid food, fairly priced super kind employees. We had kids and adults, and we all left full and happy. I've been here two times, had dishes based on two positive reviews and things I love: fajitas, and tacos. Last time I had the fajitas and not only was I completely unimpressed with the flavor, it took 30-40 minutes to get my food. It was a little busy but still, this is a small place. I was apologized to, to be fair. Tonight I got the shrimp tacos and MAN were they amazing. Came a little early in case there was a wait, got my food in 15 minutes and yes it was less busy, too. Zamorana is a casual, authentic Mexican restaurant where you can expect real Mexican food and not Tex-Mex or some version of Americanized Mexican. On the day we ate lunch there, the chef was cooking carnitas in a huge pot, manning the griddle as well as running the place taking orders and being a very friendly individual. He happily greeted me, in Spanish, and told me all about the food. The four tacos come in small, street-taco sized tortillas--two per taco-- and heaped with chicken, onions, cilantro, and guacamole. The salsa that came with the totopos (chips) seemed home-made and had just enough spice to make it lively but not overwhelming. This is a great spot for an inexpensive meal. The textures were right and I could taste some char on the meat just no seasonings at all. It almost seemed like a step was completely skipped, except that isn't how cooking works! I'm stumped. This very well might be my new favorite Mexican place. We both got the vegetarian borito and it was amazing: vegetables grilled perfectly, a nice helping of good guacamole, the crust browned to a crisp, and the sauces that worked perfectly together. It is messy but in the best way. We also got some chips and salsa which were super well done as well. The salsa felt fresh with just the right amount of kick and they even gave me an extra when we ran out. Hot sauces of all different kinds (including chalula) are all around so you can really get a good sampling of what you want. Also the prices were good. The vegetarian Borito was around $13. The service was super friendly as well and the food was pretty fast for what you get. While the ambiance wasn't anything special, I don't think it needs to be and with the meal as good as it was, I would have eaten it out in the cold if it came to it. ***Disclaimer, or Warning, or whatever you want to call it I'm from Tucson. You know...the first North American city to be named a UNESCO City of Gastronomy. Regardless of that esteemed designation, Tucson has some of the best Mexican food (from a variety of styles from different provinces) in the country. So that's what I'll be comparing this to. This is also the first Mexican restaurant I have tried in Seattle. So there you go. All my disclaimers. Hopefully, it will help you to know where I'm coming from in this review and assist you in how much of a grain of salt you should take my opinion. It was OK. Not mind blowing. Kind of tasteless to me, but OK. 3.5 stars. Family took us here for lunch while on Vashon Island. Overall, I think it was a good choice. I had the smothered burrito with steak. The Mrs. had the fish tacos. First thing I noticed was that prices here are waaaay more expensive. A Tucson thing? A Seattle thing? There were three fish tacos for $13. In Tucson, I can get the best fish taco for $3.50, and they give enough fish and two tortillas to make two tacos. My smothered burrito was $18. These prices are even more expensive than some of the food trucks in Tucson. The smothered was OK. I could possibly order it again. The refried beans were very good. The tortilla was fresh. The steak is grilled. The red sauce is mild. Great presentation. But it was lacking in flavor for me. I added my wife's pico de gallo (which she didn't use because it was heavily onion-oriented and had few tomatoes), their salsa (which is puréed roasted jalapeño, pretty good), Cholula, and salt. I had a bite of my wife's fish taco. Pretty good. The fish is red snapper. Tortilla tasted fresh. Not bad. Well, there you go. My review from someone spoiled by great Mexican cuisine in Tucson. 5* = A top favorite. Mind-blowing good. I will definitely return and I will go out of my way to go here. Worth every dime of my money. 4* = Outstanding. Tucson-top-tier. Some elements not quite as good as it gets, but it still is worthy of my regular business. 3* = Good experience. I might do repeat business if it is convenient, the only option, the only one in its category, or on a whim, but would not be among the first thing to come to mind. Would definitely recommend you trying it to get your own take on it. 2* = Not so good. Would not recommend at all. Waste of money. 1* = How are they still in business? I got a wet burrito here and it weighed probably 4 pounds and was loaded with meat. Everything is more expensive on the island but at least here you get your money's worth. Great for Mexican food on Vashon. Their tortillas are made fresh and it shows in the texture. I got the taco combo for $9 which came with four tacos. I got two carne asada and 2 pork carnitas. They were great especially with the creamy Green sauce on the self serve sauce counter. My friend got the wet burrito with the carne asada which was more than mine but was more filling. There was probably more carne asada in her burrito than my tacos. My only complaint was that the carne asada was borderline dry but was still good nonetheless. Flan was thick and lemony. read more

I'm still not sure how I feel about the fact that Zamorana has the best tacos I've had in the Pacific Northwest so far, especially on Vashon Island, but I digress. BOMB. AMAZING. AUTHENTIC TACOS!!! I moved to Seattle last year and have never expected to run into authentic tacos like the ones I've had back in San Diego, but oh man. A trip to Vashon is worth it SOLELY for these tacos (I know, I know, there's more to see, but I was shook by this place!) I've had "al pastor" tacos before in the Seattle area with no flavor, no spice, and, sadly, too much pineapple. Zamorana, however, knows the secret is spicy, flavorful meat without too many toppings and a perfectly seasoned guacamole. Needless to say, I was thoroughly pleasantly surprised. Horrible food and expensive. I don't know how one can ruin Mexican food but this place did. No flavor what so ever. My husband ordered the Steak Ranchero & I ordered the Mulita. The menu said the Mulita comes with Guacamole (we got take out) when my husband got home with the food there was no guacamole. Both items had so much salt it was all you could taste. No Mexican food flavors. The chicken in mine was cut into pebble sized pieces. I ate about 4 bites and threw it in the trash it was that bad. I would not recommend this restaurant. read more
