Well there aren't a lot of places to eat out on vashon, but I liked this hip place, mostly meat on the menu with their bone broth soup being their stand out dish which is like a pho hybrid with greens and noodles and an egg. Get the kimchi on top of it too. Kind of pricey though and the meat was like shredded brisket. I was glad I got the olive oil bread. read more

Hand's down we were happy to walk through the door into a very friendly, welcoming, warm environment. My wife got the Braised beef meat and noodle. Amazing. My BFF got the corned beef and cabbage sandwich and immediately said it was the best she has ever had! I had a small bowl of pickled kohlrabi.... Fresh and with a mild kimchi flavor. Everytime I visit Vashon Island, this place is a MUST. The bone broth alone is reason to visit. You can also purchase some to-go from their deli fridge. I like to come here for lunch which is the only time they serve their TRB Dip sandwich. This is a roast beef, swiss, horseradish sandwich with a cup of their 24 hour bone broth for dipping. This is no ordinary roast beef dip, it is next level! I split this with a friend and we ordered an extra cup of broth so we each had our own. It also comes with a bag of chips on the side. They have Empress Gin here so I like to pair an Empress Gin and tonic to top off my favorite meal on the island. Service has always been friendly and attentive. The space is cozy, not great for big parties. A couple booths in the front near the window, bar seating and some high tops, and just a handful of tables in the back. They also have a deli with a little bit of seating that shares the space. No table service in the deli from what I can tell. read more

Recently ventured to Vashon Island and were so impressed with everything we tried at The Ruby Brink, a butcher, restaurant, and bar that focuses on locally-sourced, quality ingredients. Although we ate on the outside patio on a warm evening, I decided to try a hot dish, the smoked chicken meat and noodle, which turned out to be delicious and restorative. The chicken was flavorful and tender, the noodles thick and chewy like udon. The homemade broth had just the right amount of salt and flavor to make it perfect. The microgreens and other veggies added a fresh element to the dish. My husband ordered the Sausage on a Roll, which had a creamy, spicy sauce and an herby sausage. The bread was excellent and it was all topped with baked cheese: perfect! The drinks were great, too. The menu offers both original and classic cocktails, along with wine/beer/cider. I tried the 20th century, a classic cocktail comprising gin, Lillet blanc, white creme de cacao and lemon juice, which I hadn't had before. The creme de cacao sounded like an odd addition, but it was actually very subtle and didn't really taste chocolatey. It was a refreshing, well-crafted drink. read more

The farm to table food is prepared in unique ways every meal. The menu changes every day with delicious creations. The bartender greets you as an old friend and gives you choices of what table you want to sit at. Often greeted by name. Daniel was our server who has impeccable timing as he attended to our dinner needs. Thank you for your service Daniel. You always make it so much fun to talk with when we eat there. What a great restaurant! We arrived on Vashon towards the end of the day on a Friday, so places weee starting to close, but I'm so glad everywhere was because I'm not sure we would've chosen The Ruby Brink. However, now that I know about this place I will make an effort to visit every time I'm visiting Vashon! The dining area is pretty intimate, but not cramped, and there's plenty of seating at the bar. The staff was very nice, helpful, and efficient! I would've liked to see it earlier with more people/activity, but if you go around 830pm or so you will definitely get a seat and food really quick! It was chilly that week so some warm noodles sounded perfect! We found out that they make their bone broth in house every day, and also create/print their menus every day, too! This was our "second" dinner. They were pretty busy but we were seated relatively quickly. I ordered the chicken liver mousse snack board and partner got the bolognese. I didn't actually eat the liver mousse because that's not my thing- I more so ordered it because my partner likes that stuff. She said the liver was just ok. The salted cracker was really good and had a good snap. The bolognese had chunks of sausage but they reminded me of sausage on a pizza. I didn't like the cream/cheese sauce on top but the pasta was perfect. Service was good. They gave us mochi to end our meal since it was their birthday and that was pretty good. read more

Though our food was to-go (courtyard not open that day) a peak inside revealed a cool spot to dine. Sausage a Roll was good, though the way the bread is made it was hard to eat and really needed a fork and knife which we did not have. Could have used more mustard mayo to balance the dry toasted bun. Hold the Meat & Noodle was good. Might have enjoyed it better in-house vs composing it ourselves. We've been coming to this place for about two years now, and there aren't enough great things to say about it. The menu is ever-changing and so creative (one of the appetizers included picked blueberries), and the staff is absolutely wonderful! Though the menu changes often, there are a few staples -- meat and noodle soup (plus a vegetarian version), sausage on a roll, and sourdough brownie, to name a few. I'd recommend all of them! Arrived at 4:30. It was the night of the Christmas Parade the place was packed! We got seated right away, by the window. We both ordered meat and noodle. My wife had pork, I had braised beef. It was outstanding! Their homemade broth is 'out of this world' good! You probably won't watch a parade from your seat, as we did. But do go for the great food. The kitchen staff at Ruby are masters in creating soups. I have never been disappointed with the excellent soups. I have some other favorite menu items but the soups stand out. My one pet peeve when it comes to resturants is ambient noise. You will notice that RB has placed sound dampening panels on the walls. This is one of the first thing i look for in a resturant/bar. It is still a bit loud for my taste. The optimal decibel level for normal conversation is 58-65 dB. Easy to get a decible meter on one's cell phone and be intentional about the noise level. read more

I wasn't sure what to expect as the menu was very different from what I expected. I will say I was very pleased with the entire experience from start to finish. On top of everything, our waitress was lovely and went above and beyond to make sure we had a lovely experience. We started out with gin martinis that were delicious. Our meal consisted of the braised beef meat and noodle and the rillettes on toast. The beef boodles were great and perfectly seasoned. The toast however changed my life forever. I mean I literally want to get on a ferry right now to get that toast. I forgot the name of the toast and I see the menu changes quite frequently. This place is a must visit. Visiting Seattle, I recently twice patronized this establishment before writing this review, as I was thinking that maybe things were just "off," at first (my earlier visits, a couple of years ago, resulted in quite good experiences, especially for a part of the country known best for its "hearty comfort food." Sigh. Too expensive (for what is served), persistently lukewarm, and menu descriptions that are fanciful but plated (and bowled) products that are pretty much ordinary. Maybe a reboot? A group of friends and I were visiting the island and we stopped by for a drink after dinner. I admit, there were a lot of us, but they did not seem all that happy to see us. We all found seats at the bar; the bartender was very nice and hopped right on our drinks as we ordered them. This is the only place I've been that has beef bacon with anything! But the entire burger was amazing! We were originally trying to go to another restaurant near by but they were closed & I'm so glad they were, because we would have missed out on this little jewel!! The ambience was really cute , and the food was great. The service was mid, I got the vibe that our server didn't want to be bothered with us. Just for context, I've worked in the food and beverage industry for years, and I understand on a busy night you want to provide great service of course, but you may also need the table to be cleared and ready for the next guests. This was not a particularly busy night.. After several attempts to get our servers attention, another server came to check on us and we were able to order our dessert. Anyway, that's why I say the service was mid and gave 4 stars instead of 5. But I'm still going back because I did really enjoy the food. read more

Creative cocktails and tasty bar snacks. We could not stop talking about the pesto lamb sandwich afterwards! The pesto/tzatziki paired well with the tender lamb. The braised beef noodles were perfect for a cold day. The udon noodles were nice and chewy, and the portion of beef was generous. The food was substandard way to salty both the NY steak and the noodles would not recommend the high priced bad cooked food. The service was excellent they went out of their way to acommentate us. There drinks was ok but not as good as the Hardware store acccross the street. The the restaurant was nice but the booth benches was very hard to sit on for a long time and since the steaks took a long time to cook ( was stated on the Menu ) it would have been nice to have a more soft seating. Have to stress that the personel was excellent. We had 2x NY strip steak with rice and mushrooms also too salty, hold the meat and noodles, beef rib was ok and and potato and leak soup. I had guest so i did not speak up at the dinner but next day my guest confirmed that their dinners had been bad too. We asked for medium rare got medium and a pond of salt the chef must have an offday. For a $ 300 plus you would have expected more. read more

Lovely little restaurant/butcher shop in downtown Vashon Island. Ordered the corned beef sandwich with potato salad and creamy tomato soup. The sandwich was good and you could tell that high quality ingredients were used but lacked overall flavor for me. The fingerling potato salad had an update flavor with seed mustard and a thin sauce. The tomato soup had a touch of curry that was a nice touch. Service was great and personable. I will go back and try a different sandwich since they all sounded good. read more

My only issue (and it's not a deal-breaker--is that this is my second time our drink orders arrived after our entree.
