What a cool location, right on the water and with a great view of the boats nearby, both "parked" and coming and going. The patio was full when we arrived so we requested a table by the windows and we were not disappointed in the view from the inside. We ordered drinks and nachos... it's a good thing we didn't order more than that because the nachos plate that arrived was HUGE! Very tasty nachos, too - crispy chips covered in black beans, seasoned spicy ground beef, cheeses, black olives, green onions & tomatoes. Fresh salsa & sour cream were served on the side. The three of us couldn't even eat the whole thing! Our server was attentive, charming, and helpful with the menu. We'd definitely go back any time we're inn the neighborhood!

Another wonderful meal! Haven't been for several years and when a celebration of life brought us to Gig Harbor again- I knew we had to revisit!! It was as great as I remembered!! Outstanding views, friendly prompt staff even when busy at the Memorial weekend! We had a terrific time and our meals were fantastic!

Although I didn't try any of the food here, I had to give this establishment a worthy mention. It was jam packed on the Friday afternoon we stopped in. Just another scenic place on the waterfront. Service at the bar was great. Silly if you think so BUT the ladies restroom looked like a spa! Breathtaking view. I hear the men's is not half as nice!

Tides is on our list as one of our favorite places to grab a meal. The tavern is 21 plus all of the time so make sure that you get a sitter and leave the littles at home. Every time we've gone to Tides, it's been a great experience. The staff is very friendly and professional. The space is large and they offer indoor and outdoor seating when the weather cooperates. You can even get to this place by boat as they have a dock that you can pull up to from the Gig Harbor. You can choose from a large variety of beers, wines and spirits and they have a few TV's that are usually showing sporting events. The menu is well rounded, and they offer a plethora of items to suit most moods, but the specials are usually where you'll find something divine. If you're looking for good fish-n-chips, look no further and Tides makes all of their own sauces from scratch! In my book, that's HUGE! This place is always packed so be prepared to wait a bit for your table, but they text you when it's available so that you can go out and enjoy the views of the harbor and walk down the docks if you like. Overall, we love this place and like to visit as often as we can. Even though we have to pay the bridge toll to get back home. It's well worth it. Thanks for reading and Cheers!

Well well well. Hubby off for 6 wk carpal tunnel surgery. And TODAY is such a sunny day here in PNW we decided to trek over the bridge for some fish n chips. So happens it's happy hr too! 2 Shrimp cocktails, 2 cod n chips, 2Coors light please. I worked here years ago for 8 yrs and this place still holds a place in my heart. I'm just starting to look like these older people that come here lol!! It's still a hoppin' place and looks the same. Deck not open yet in March tho. Waaa. That's ok. Till next time

I absolutely love Tides Tavern! Been coming here for a lot of years. I travel to Gig Harbor for work on a not so regular basis, But I Always go to Tides Tavern...awesome atmosphere, great food, staff is amazing. I truly have never been disappointed. I generally have the Shrimp salad or Fish and Chips, but tonight I had the Halibut Sliders...they were great and was a good size portion. Thank you Tides Tavern for another great experience!

This came to me as a recommendation as a good place for lunch with a nice view. Never again, it was terrible. I got there around 11:30; they opened at 11. Must be popular with the locals, because the patio was packed when I got there. Not mad about it, because I got a window seat and didn't have to deal with the heat and direct sun, as there's no umbrellas on the deck. The views were very nice. The staff is not very friendly, didn't get greeted, they just asked how many. It was a busy Saturday morning for lunch rush. For a place like this, they really need AT LEAST a couple of Bussers and Food Runners to keep the service running smoothly. Service was very slow, the Servers did everything (except write the orders down). My order took forever and was also wrong because the Server didn't have a pad to write anything down. After all that, I had hoped the food would at least be good, but I was wrong. I tried a few different things, and was surprised they didn't have a raw bar. The calamari was either freezer burned or left in the fryer too long; basically disintegrating into crumbs when you tried to eat any of it. The Chicken Parm pizza was terrible, the crust was undercooked, the toppings were strange; it looked like it had shrimp on it, which I'm allergic to. I ordered a crab BLAT on Rye, it came out on Pita bread (barely any crab), and by that time I had already been there an hour and 40 minutes and just didn't want to deal with waiting another 30 minutes for them to remake it and it still suck. I had them ox it up and got the check which also took forever, paid the tab, and left. Terrible place unless you're a drinker. This place is losing money by not turning tables over fast enough... it shouldn't take 2+ hours for lunch. 1 star is for the view...

The atmosphere is a typical tavern atmosphere but it's on the water and has a beautiful view. Our weight staff was great and our food was exceptional. We had the cod and french fries as well as the onion rings and whiskey sours -absolutely loved it.

Tides is a gem of Gig Harbor. They offer a lot of seafood and other fare. I loved the burger and fries here. Make sure you tell the host how you want your burger cooked. I forgot to tell them, so my burger was cooked well done. That made it chewier and drier than usual but the flavor was still there. The chowder was tasty but I felt it was way overpriced for the small cup. My service was okay but not as attentive as I've had in the past. Next time I will sit at the bar which is usually the better service for me. The ambiance was good and the location is perfect. I hope the new owners do not change the menu options, but I do hope they change the menu prices. $80 for two burgers and a small cup of chowder is outrageous!

Gluten free pepperoni, pineapple, onion pizza! Outstanding!

Water front seating watching the boats sail in and out of Gig Harbor, this place pretty much nails it on summertime ambiance! Service was quick, friendly and everything came out just as we ordered it! Bought the gluten free pepperoni, pineapple, onion pizza! It was outstanding! Nice crispy crust, under lots of sauce and cheese with pepperoni toppings and pineapple and onion. Absolutely nothing shy of perfection! Highly recommend a stop.

Best location ever -- right on the water! Pull up in your boat like you're cruising Florida's Intracoastal Waterway, and step right into a chill Northwest marina vibe. This is exactly the summer spot you hope to stumble upon when exploring by water (or land, but boating in? So cool). Let's talk food: Halibut sliders were a hit! Super crispy, almost too perfect (maybe a little too processed?), but loaded with big chunks of halibut. And the tartar sauce? Chef's kiss. I almost asked for extra -- don't skip it. Smoked salmon avocado toast? Absolutely nailed it! Flavorful, fresh, and somehow both hearty and light. Would 100% order again. Pro tip: The women's bathroom has the most epic view while you wash your hands -- like, why isn't this a thing everywhere? Sorry guys, not sure what you're working with, but you're missing out! Atmosphere & vibe: Busy in the best way -- this place hums with energy. Oddly, no one was sitting at the bar, which I didn't quite get... it's a great seat! But hey, I get it -- outside tables overlooking the marina are pretty sweet. Still, I'm a bar-sitter every time. They've also got a fun summer specials menu and so many other things I want to try. This is one of those rare places that checks every box: great food, great views, and an effortlessly good time. Would we come back? Heck yes. Probably by boat.

Fish Tacos, dried up brittle stale corn tortillas. I only ate the Fish and Cabbage it was great.

This place has a Bar and Grill atmosphere on the Harbor. Great views and good service. This is my first time back since the New Ownership. The food was good. Their "Americas voted Best Clam Chowder" is a very Watered down Clam Chowder with bacon bits and plenty of potatoes. Definitely NOT the Great thick and creamy Clam Chowder of Years past. What happened?

    Michael G.

Great night at this local classic. Halibut fish/chips were excellent. Chowder is excellent. Nacho dinner is enough for four! Excellent service tonight! Ranier was out for everyone to see!

Ask the Community - Tides Tavern

What about reservations for a group of 20-28 adults? If no reservations - how long of a wait on a Saturday at 4:30pm - for 20-28?

Saturday evening could be a very long wait for that many people. I feel like they are worth a 30 minute wait. I have yet to go and been told longer than 30 minutes even on a weekend. Just my experience. Good luck!

    Is it Kid friendly?

I saw them turn people away with kids.

Should I make reservations? Do they take those?

They don't take reservations. They are pretty crowded at peak times. If you go for lunch, get there before 11:30 or you'll have to wait.

    Is the patio dog-friendly?

No they are not pet friendly.

Is the outdoor seating open during winter time? Heated of course.

Totally depends on the weather of course but I was there recently on a 55+ degree sunny day for lunch and it was open. I hope this helps. You may want to call ahead and ask.

There is often a food truck, so if you don't mind that kind of setup there is at least food available across the lot. No servers or bussers as far as I noticed, so you get your own stuff and clean up after. Also no bar, just beer and wine. And I have had Seven Seas beers many times, and haven't really found one I would go back for. Lots of people love their beer, I'm not saying it's bad! Just not for me. Service is minimal at best. In the times I have been there, it's been one beertender, no service at your table and service at the bar has been less than great. Not particularly friendly, just .... there. If you've never been, I'd recommend checking it out for the experience. But the Tides is also right there and in my opinion such a better experience. Also parking is VERY limited, so you may have to park a block or two away.

I haven't seen the usual setup, but I'm assuming there's usually tables and chairs in the middle. THE FOOD: - Kitchen is currently closed, but outside food is more than welcome. Snack foods (chips, peanuts, similar) available at register. THE CIDERS: - I had a flight and they were all amazing. Standouts were: vanilla bean (sweet but not too sweet; light, refreshing, true vanilla flavor) and dark maple (not saccharine sweet; just on the edge with a dryness and truly outstanding flavor... dangerously delicious). - I kept expecting all of them to be overly sweet; but they all kept surprising me. Watermelon was another favorite. SERVICE: - Quick and kind with a smile. You'll love the vibes. SIDE NOTES: - We traveled from the Seattle area as Locust Cider had the Winchester Mystery House pinball machine on loan for the weekend. Only 500 were made, and this is currently the only one in the state. Your next closest is Next Level Museum in Oregon if you want to play this extraordinary machine. It's worth it! - We came on a salsa lesson night, so most pinball machines were blocked by tables. That's alright because 7 were unblocked and provided plenty of entertainment while the salsa lessons happened. - I think pinball with salsa music blaring in the background is the new best way while sipping delicious ciders is the new best way to enjoy everything.

Beyond their awesome ambiance, their ciders were all varied and delicious. They have 26 taps to choose from. We tried a bunch of their 4oz pours. My favorites turned out to be (surprisingly) their seasonal Chai and their Honey Pear, but each one that I tasted was unique and flavorful. I felt the intentionality in each one. They have a full food menu that includes gluten free tater tots and chicken nuggets. Service was awesome, by the way. Two of the kegs we wanted to try had blown, so the bartender brought us a few extra pours for having to wait. I'm super bummed that I never made it back for a second visit.
