    Cioppino!
    Matt R.

My broad loves seafood and I had been wanting to try this place, and I'm glad we did! Sweet location near the water in downtown T-Town. I had the Cioppino and she had the Steamed Mussels. Both were great, the tomato broth in the Cioppino was particularly fantastic. I will be back I'm sure!

They were very accommodating and allowed us to sit with a group of 11 without prior notice. The clam chowder was good and their cocktails were all great! The service was adequate and I'd go back for the views.

Mussels - so good!! Our favorite thing we tried on the new menu

The new menu is good We loved the mussels and shared the halibut & chips, which were very tasty (needed a touch more salt) but so great to sit outside and have a view! I do think the new menu is a game changer and we will back for sure. Absolutely recommend to give it a try!!! Thank you Kat for your amazing service- appreciate you!!!

My Sagittarius sisters brought me here to celebrate my birthday, and it was such a great choice. I don't know if it was the timing or the terrible weather outside, but there was literally no wait. We walked right in and were seated immediately, which was honestly amazing. One of my friends ordered the Dungeness crab and shrimp Louie salad, and it looked really good. She said it was delicious and the portion size was generous. I was really craving soup, so I went with the blackened salmon BLT and a cup of chowder. The chowder was so good. The salmon was tasty too -- it did have a slightly fishy taste, but nothing that ruined it for me. Another friend ordered the cioppino, which is more of a stew, and it was really good. She let all of us try it, and it had a great flavor and a nice-sized portion. What really stood out was that it wasn't cream-based, which was perfect because she has a pretty extreme lactose intolerance. It's not always easy for her to find menu options like that, so this was a really nice surprise. Overall, the food, service, and experience were great, and it made for an awesome birthday dinner. I'd definitely come back again.

Was staying nearby for a concert for the weekend and this place was so solid, I took my friends and went a second time the next day lol Between the two visits, I tried - clam chowder - super solid, got this two days in a row lol - salad + grilled chicken - tasted fine I just needed some vegetables - green bean tempura - the half order was so big and the green beans were actually pretty good - nachos - also surprisingly large portion, decent - lobster Mac and cheese - nice and creamy, would eat again Servers were friendly, space is large. It's right by the water so it's nice to walk along the water for a digestion walk afterwards!

Forgot to take picture of the food as we took our food to go, but we got mac & cheese and clam chowder and would have to say the service was good even though I did call in the order he denied to make it in advance even though I told him I was less than five minutes away, but the food was amazing ambience a little cold and clammy in there not too intimate, but customer service was great ambience. It's a great if you want the view, but the staff was friendly. I just wish that the manager would have made my order to go so I wouldn't have had to come in and wait.

How can you go wrong sitting on the patio overlooking the bay on a perfect evening! This spot is a Gem for sure! Food is Amazing! Service is Amazing! Prices are nominal and the freshness was outstanding.

The food was so yummy. I really enjoyed the heartiness of the stew. My son enjoyed his fish and chips. The service was good, no complaints. The restaurant itself is cozy and quaint, a smaller feel that reminds me of mom and pop places back home in RI.

Drinks & Food are pricey, but delicious. Service was relaxed and professional. Sat outside and watched the boats sail by. - Spicy mango margaritas -A - Calamari-A (really fresh, soft, perfectly cooked) - Seafood medley with Artichokes dip with fresh warm loaf.- A -Catfish special with veggies & mashed potatoes. -A -Shrimp & crab Louie salad -B Total $150 before tip. All in the food was delicious and the service was attentive. Highly recommend. Only negative... when arrived with over half the restaurant empty... they play a game of we can't seat you yet. Put on wait list 10-15 min, suggesting go to the bar and have drinks. We were a party of two but only 1 chair and not a comfortable situation. This was very irritating. We came in from a long drive, just wanted to sit down & eat dinner. We did later order a drink, and it was very tasty, but the extra milking on arrival was distasteful. Sharine

Great service and location. Always order the Bloody Mary's with pepper vodka, sometimes with a crab claw sometimes not. Halibut Fish & Chips are a winner too.

Cioppino - Cilantro on top why?
    Raye T.

Left off a star because the Mac and cheese wasn't so good and the cioppino was garnished with cilantro instead of parsley. Otherwise, the rest of our order was quite good and the service was attentive and kind.

Great fish and chips, the atmosphere is even better. If you can go on a nice day and sit outside do it. The bartender Josh is awesome, not sure how they rate having him. Great peice of Tacoma history here used to come here when it was a fish market way back.

I'd give 4 stars for just my jumbo prawn parang curry dish but... the final score is 3 stars... 1) the cup of clam chowder was deemed MEH 2) then hubby took one bite of the Mac and cheese side and head had to try to doctor it up with salt and pepper. I tasted it before he seasoned it and it was bland. Yes it was "cheesy" but just no flavor. Very dairy like but flat. 3) his blackened fish (steelhead) came with veggies also and it was such a meager amount of bok choy, mushrooms and asparagus. Just underwhelming Service was fine. Parking is easy. Maybe it was just a bad Mac and cheese and low inventory on the veg kind of night. Low key - I was surprised the server didn't ask if there was something wrong with the Mac and cheese. Our plates were cleaned otherwise but she just asked if we were done and took the plate. I wanted to ask what the cheese was because maybe it would explain the bland flavor but we had to get going. I think I'd come back for the view - with good weather sit on the patio. A cold beer. And folks around us were ordering a lot of calamari and oysters so those were probably good. PLUS the panang curry was GOOD!!!!

It was embarrassing for me to bring my friend there. We have been going to Roy's restaurants in Hawaii since he opened his first restaurant, and Woven was greatly under our expectations for a fine dining experience -- especially based on our past experiences with Roy's which were mostly very positive. I wrote to the restaurant about our experience and never heard back. The service was pretty good but not really to the level it should have been for this kind of restaurant.

Harbor Lights. The incredible institution of Harbor Lights…read more I've been coming to Harbor Lights for probably around 45 years -- my mom and dad long before me. Back before it was sold, my dad would come in, sit at the table, and instantly a Manhattan was placed in front of him. That wonderful, old-type service. The new owners have been around for a while and did a wonderful refresh on the property. They kept a lot of the household favorites on the menu -- mine being the shucked and sautéed crab legs. Extremely decadent and pricey, but well worth it. Anytime you're wanting to come for a birthday or a special event, I highly recommend this dish. If you're coming by yourself or just as a table of two, try getting a table in the bar. It's intimate and cozy, and probably only seats 20 people. I live out of state now, but I make this a priority whenever I'm back in beautiful Washington State. Definitely a Tacoma institution.

I've been coming to Harbor Lights for years--mainly for what used to be my all-time favorite shrimp…read morecocktail and to check out their special fruit drinks. Today was supposed to be a quick, light stop after work: shrimp cocktail, a couple drinks, and some time in the old Harbor Lights bar. Walking in, I was immediately reminded of one of my biggest frustrations with this space. Yes, it's small--but the outdated tables and chairs make it far too easy for people to block the walkways. And when those walkways are filled with loud, inappropriate, "stuck-in-1976" commentary from intoxicated older men acting like they're still in their 20s, it makes navigating the room even more uncomfortable. At one point, we were stuck sitting there listening to them loudly joke about having female urologists and proctologists--one word: GROSS. Speaking up doesn't feel like a safe or worthwhile option--it just escalates things. The bar could absolutely keep its charm while still evolving into a more comfortable, modern, and inclusive space. Then there's the menu situation--multiple menus stacked in front of you like a paper shuffle. It's unnecessary and could easily be streamlined. Now, the drinks... this is where things really fell off. Harbor Lights used to be known for strong drinks--that reputation feels long gone. I ordered a vodka-based drink and it went down like juice--no taste, no kick, nothing. When I asked for a double on the second round, the bartender laughed and said all their drinks are doubles and that they don't measure, claiming there was 2 1/2 oz of liquor in it. We watched him make it: no measuring, just a free pour over ice, stopping well short of the top, then filling it with rhubarb-strawberry purée. When it arrived, it felt more dropped on the table than served. I gave it a fair shot--a big sip--and again... no vodka taste whatsoever. No burn, no effect. I know my liquor, and this didn't add up. It really makes you question what's actually being poured. And then... the shrimp cocktail. How do you mess this up? This was the one thing I could always count on. It's always been unique and consistently good--but this time? Way too much horseradish. Completely threw off the balance. I still ate it, but it was not the same experience at all. Overall, this visit was disappointing. Between the uncomfortable atmosphere, lackluster drinks, and a once-reliable favorite falling short, Harbor Lights just isn't what it used to be.

We arrived early, and were seated at about our reservation time. Our server was pleasant and knowledgeable about the menu. So far so good. I had the 12oz prime rib. Our guest had the seafood with scallops. My wife had sirloin and shrimp. For the salad/appetizer I had the lobster bisque. The ladies each had the Caesar salad. The prime rib was supposed to be medium, but had zero pink and about 4oz of a big slab of fat on the end. It was a bit tough. The knife given to me probably would not cut butter as there were no serrations left on the blade. I would say the cut of beef was choice at the most, still a bit tough when I asked for a knife that would cut the meat. My lobster bisque had very little lobster in it. I finally found a couple of small pieces at the bottom of the bowl. The Caesar salads had little to no flavor according to the ladies. The scallops appeared to be breaded and were well overcooked. The shrimp on my wife's plate were overcooked and tough. So much for the not so good stuff.... Our Yukon gold potato mash servings were good. My wife's sirloin steak was well seasoned and perfectly cooked for her. The best part of our meals were the deserts. Cheese cake, Key Lime pie, and the cream boule. The business was very busy and the staff members were working hard. The view today was as exceptional as we remembered from previous visits. Two of us are mobility impaired. I only saw one DP parking spot at the entrance drive up area. There were none in the parking garage. The garage is under the business. There was no elevator for those who are mobility impaired. There may have been parking across the street, but I had not paid attention to that lot when we drove up from the east. I had to take the steps one at a time, using the hand rail, hanging my cane from my opposite arm. I would give the food today two stars, and the service four stars. With that I settled on three stars for the overall experience. No, I did not complain about the food today to the staff, just asked for a knife that would actually cut the "prime rib". I did not find out about how the ladies felt until we were in the car leaving. We should have gone to "Texas Roadhouse" on Joint Base Lewis McChord. My wife and I had great steaks there on Monday. I wanted to take the ladies someplace very special for Mother's Day, thus the reservations a this establishment. Enough said!
