I liked how there was a thin layer of the batter and a thick cut of the calamari. The jalapeño gave it a nice texture. I think next time I would ask for a slice of lemon. Always a great experience & the food has always been wonderful. Today was a quick bite of fish & chips & appetizers to share. The fish & chips are always exceptional whether you order inside or outside at their walk up window to eat outside on a beautiful day. Light breading with great seasoning for the batter & fries. This really should be a 2.5 star review- the only thing that saved the day was an attentive waiter. We chose this restaurant as family members had eaten at a WildFin in Vancouver and swore by it. They indicated it was not a faction as good as the Vancouver location. Steaks were at the top end of the price range and none of the 3 ordered were cooked properly. The creamed spinach was burned on top. They did provide carrots and celery to snack on- but had to request and pay for bread. Steaks for 3 with an appetizer and bread was almost $300. Honestly I have paid $150 for a better quality version of this meal elsewhere. "MIGHT" try the Vancouver location... but doubtful. read more

Came here on a whim because the party I was with wanted to eat here for lunch. Before you had to get parking validated, but now Ruston has announced that parking is free. So that's a nice change. When the weather is nice, I'd recommend sitting outside if its open. But one word of caution, if you're looking for a quiet meal, the restaurant is right above where the playground for the kids are and the Wheels Fun Rental station is, so lots of traffic and noise. So better to sit inside and just ask for a table with a view if available. We got sat at the last table outside towards the mountain on the left. But one thing to keep in mind, the seats aren't very comfortable and metal. So bring a sweater or something to put under your bum or its gonna be hurting. Lolll. Just keeping it real. Okay so for the food. We got the Wildfin Appetizer Platter that is presented on a tower, but we take if off and set the plates down coz its easier to share this way. But it comes with garlic prawns that have artichokes and tomatoes and toasted bread chunks kinda like croutons but not, calamari comes with some deep fried jalapeños (at least I think its jalapeños) and crispy rice spicy ahi has sesame seeds with avocado topped with a fresh sliced jalapeño and radish sprouts aka Kaiware sprouts. (Their menu doesn't give any details on what exactly is included, so if you have allergies, may be an issue if you forget to ask.) We also ordered a lunch specials with was the French dip and upgraded for an extra $1 to the French onion soup. This was decent. Like 4/5. The other item was the Northwest Seafood Fettuccine Alfredo which has a few different fish and prawns with some spinach, roasted red peppers and mushrooms and a whole Lotta grated cheese on top. I'd give this a 3/5. It's kinda bland and not saucy like most fettuccine. I feel the food was better back in the day and they used to have my favorite mixed grill. But they got rid of that too. I'd say, if its your first time to start with their happy hour first (of course if you're of age) , but the happy hour is only in the bar. And the area is not that big. Theres like the actual bar seating itself, then like a larger communal table yhat sits high and then a few tables that sit low if memory serves me correct. We had such a great dining experience. I will say that the staff from the manager to the hostess are incredibly accommodating. Stopping to answer questions, provide suggestions and checking to see how our meals were. I got the shrimp and grits and surprised with how delicious it was. Great flavors and plenty of shrimp. First off the location is beautiful located right on the Sound in Ruston! It's gorgeous on the inside and has outside seating with umbrellas. The service was spectacular. Let's not forget the amazing food as well. My friend got the three Tacos and she chose the pork belly, fish, and pulled pork. They were all so yummy! I got the seafood tower that we split as well. It came with calamari, shrimp with artichokes in a garlic cream sauce, and ahi tuna on sticky rice. All of it was played well and tasted fresh. This is really a 3.75 review. Ambiance was great. We could see the water and experience this wonderful restaurant. We never been to this location before having visited the Renton a ton of times before it closed down. Service was great. Our server was attentive, prompt and considerate. Even though the restaurant was somewhat busy, we were seated quickly. Food. Well, I'm a little challenged because the calamari was delicious. My husband's steak and vegetables were delicious, but I ordered the special which was Cajun seared salmon over succotash, green beans and potatoes.. none of it was good, unfortunately. The server tried to compensate by giving me a different side, but the salmon was just too dry. I know sometimes this can be an issue with blackening fish just was not good. We chose the perfect place for the seven of us to meet with family members after a 10 year hiatus. The server was very accommodating as we strangled in. This restaurant has the perfect location on the Columbia with outside tables on a sunny day. Four years later and I'm back with a five star update! It's Tacoma Restaurant Week (kicked off March 30th) and WildFin had a pretty standout lunch menu. For $35 you're able to pick from a fixed menu and you're able to pick an entree and either an appetizer OR a dessert. We were smart and I ordered an app with my entree, and my fiance got dessert so that we could split a good amount of items. We got a great table with awesome views of the water and Mount Rainier on a beautiful spring day, so that already set the vibe. Our server, Andrew, was SO nice and personable. He made sure to consistently check up on us and was overall so kind even though we were THOSE people with the crazy toddler wreaking havoc on everyone (my bad, y'all). For my appetizer I went with the ahi crispy rice. Beautiful presented and a very generous portion, easily shareable with plenty for each of us. The rice was a little crispier than I would've liked, but the rice was perfect on the inside. I'm partial to spicy tuna so I definitely was hoping for it to be a little spicier than it was, but the flavor was good and tasted super fresh. For the entree, I went with the Simply Grilled Salmon. So delicious! Cooked absolutely perfect. It's served on top of broccolini, tomatoes, and these AMAZING herb marble potatoes. The sauce for the vegetables is also insanely good. For my fiance, he decided to try the Pork Banh Mi (which we were both surprised to see on the menu here). It was served with an ALARMING amount of cilantro on top... Like... An entire full bushel of cilantro LOL we pulled off a good deal of it. Even as cilantro lovers it was excessive. Not a complaint, just an observation! My fiance was happy with his choice as well and said it was good. Last dish was dessert - we went with the Butterscotch Creme Brulee which was INSAAANE. We almost went with the Coconut Cream Pie but I'm glad we didn't because this was soooo good. Get it and thank me later. It's also a very generous portion and was easily shared between myself, my fiance, and our toddler. Really glad that we decided to give this TRW menu a try and that it gave us an excuse to visit WildFin again. I don't recommend eating here for multiple reasons. First we ordered coffee and it was cold. Unfortunately, The restaurant was absolutely freezing on a blistering day. The food that we ordered took an even worse term. The broccoli was ice cold when it was served to us upon first bite we had to send that back immediately. The fillet mignon was so poorly flavored with no salt or anything most of the entire meal was just horrible. In addition once we complained to the manager, they attempted to remake the broccolini. It came back overcooked and horribly seasoned the excuse that was given was that there was somebody learning and in training, however they have an open kitchen and we were able to watch what was going on. It seemed like it was more of a play day happening where the cooks were watching football and hanging out while ruining over $100 meal. read more

WildFin American Grill was such an experience! I ordered the simply grilled seasonal salmon paired with a margarita, and it hit the spot. The seafood tasted incredibly fresh--definitely felt like the catch of the day. I started with the calamari appetizer, which was delicious with the aioli and jalapeño--just the right amount of heat. If I had to nitpick, I'd say a little more seasoning and a slightly longer fry time would've taken it to the next level. What really stood out was the ambiance. I loved the spacious outdoor patio and the indoor/outdoor bar setup--it gives you the best of both worlds. There are TVs at the bar too, which was perfect for catching the basketball or baseball game while enjoying drinks and good vibes. We go to Wildfin about twice a year. One big attraction is that around Christmas, they sell gift cards with a 20% premium. For us it is a 50 minute drive from home but they had a great Valentine's Day special, $154.95 for an appetizer to share, 2 NW seasonal salads, Lobster and tenderloin surf and turf and a desert to share. We shared the garlic prawns and artichokes with a delicious sauce. We wished we had some bread to soak up the rest of the sauce but, unlike other premium restaurants, they charge $8.95 for their fresh baked bread loaf and we don't need the extra calories. The bread is very good but we avoid it. The seasonal salads were very good and big enough for 2 if it had not been for the special. The entree was a winner. The 6oz lobster tail was split in half so it was easy to remove from the shell and it had a delicious lemon herb garlic butter and béarnaise sauce accompanying it. The Grilled 28-day aged filet mignon with tallow butter & bordelaise was cooked rare as we requested it and was tender and delicious. It was bigger than expected. This was all topped of with Kalua pie for desert, more than enough for 2. The only downside for this place is that their wine by the glass is expensive compared to other places. Visited the resturant on Sunday and experienced a server who treated our table like a fast casual resturant rather than an evening dinner. Once we didnt order within 5 minutes of sitting down the server displayed an attitude of displeasure that we wanted to enjoy our drinks and appetizers prior to ordering. The food was outstanding. On open table they ask if there is a special occasion and/or any requests, I said it was my gfs bday and that I would like to sit near the window to see the sound. We shared a local bottle of Pinot. It was a light dinner to the end the night, and everything was delightful. The server was kind and attentive. One star was taken off for ambiance, it seemed a little outdated and I think could benefit from an interior design upgrade. First of all, the views from this restaurant are phenomenal. Came for lunch with my in-laws and kids without looking at the menu or having any idea what we were getting into. We did not have a reservation and waited about five minutes to be seated. Our saver came over pretty quickly and offered some great recommendations from the menu. There were so many options on the menu, but I settled with the lunch soup and fish tacos. We also ordered a couple appetizers, some oysters which were delicious (probably the best we've had in the area so far) as well as the calamari. The calamari was not my favorite however the jalapeño aïoli was phenomenal. My fish tacos tasted so fresh and light, the fish was cooked perfectly. My seafood chowder was packed with protein and lots of great flavor. It was a perfect portion for lunch. Everyone in my party enjoyed their meal and left happy. My family and I dined at WildFin yesterday, and the overall experience was disappointing. My wife's chicken on her superfood salad was extremely under-seasoned, if seasoned at all, and came out colder than warm. Another person's burger was topped with undesirable produce, especially the shredded lettuce, which made it unappealing. I ordered the prime rib dip, and it had the taste and look of meat that had been cooked earlier and left sitting until served; it was lukewarm and visually unappealing. The street tacos ordered by another member of our party were so small that the portion size felt ridiculous for the price paid. All in all, the meal fell far short of expectations, and based on this visit, I would not return to WildFin nor recommend it to others. WildFin has fallen off in a major way. When they first opened, the food was no less than amazing, and they had a weekend brunch that was super affordable, but now it seems as if there's no care for the food anymore.
