Really don't understand the negative reviews here. Maybe the quality of the food just depends on what you order! Views are gorgeous, server was soo friendly, and the food was DELICIOUS. Only complaint is it's pretty expensive. We got the fish and chips and I think this place wins best fish and chips in the Seattle area for me! You can tell the cooks know how to work a fryer, the fries and the fish were perfectly fried. The tartar sauce was delish as well- even the ketchup tasted better than I was expecting! We also got the salmon dip- it was so yummy. Just wish it came with more bread. This is where the expensive complaint comes in- the server told us we could get extra bread for like $3. That's crazy considering how pricey this place is already! We also got the milkshake and I would definitely skip it next time. You can't go wrong with a milkshake but they are just way too expensive to just taste like a regular chocolate milkshake. read more

We came to Boathouse 19 on Mother's Day, so rightfully so, it was extremely busy. Luckily, there's a bar right beside it where we had a few drinks while waiting for the reservation to be called which was nice. Came in on a Wednesday at 5:30 pm. Sunny day so there were a lot of other tables but no wait to be seated (plenty of parking in the lot even though it was busy). We thought about sitting outside but decided against it. The host took us to a table in the center of the room because all the windows along the windows were taken, still good views. Restaurant was busy - lots of people enjoying the weather, quite a few tables with kids. Ordered an Arnold Palmer ($6.50 - note the labor meant it was more than both the lemonade $5 and iced tea $4) and husband got Diet Coke. Also tried the fried pickles $10 and a salmon salad $34, husband ordered the big plate pan fried oysters $32 and inquired about if it came with sides. The server said it came with coleslaw and fries but could be replaced for just coleslaw or just fries or additional charge salad or chowder. He opted for coleslaw. Fried pickles were good, we were both a little disappointed they were sweet pickles but we liked the aioli. I was disappointed that my salad came with farro but the farro was like, a garnish? Crunchy small bits of farro. I make a farro salad regularly and it's so easy to have nice farro (cooked 30 mins then saved in fridge to add to salads). The salmon was cooked well. My husband was disappointed in his fried oysters. It was a big platter but mostly empty with a small pile of fried oysters and then a cup of red cabbage with some light dressing. Very disappointing plate. We had revolving sushi with our kid the day before for the same cost, and it was a better experience than our date night. Husband grabbed fast food directly after and I just wanted something more special when we left, but didn't figure something out before heading home. Service was adequate, drinks ran out but they did eventually refill. Wished I came by the end of March for the happy hour deals because this wasn't anything special. Definitely more of that overpriced family restaurant with views vibe. Don't go for food - stick to chowder and fish n chips. 3 stars because I probably will go back for views and I can take my kids there, if needed. read more

I had a rhubarb vodka seltzer, which was definitely on the stronger side--maybe a bit much for a first pre-dinner drink, but that's just personal preference. Coming from a landlocked state, we had to take advantage of the seafood options. I ordered the salmon taco with a cup of clam chowder, and both really hit the spot. Everything tasted fresh and it definitely fulfilled my seafood craving. For dessert, we had the peanut butter pie, which was delicious--light, not overly rich, and with the perfect balance of chocolate and peanut butter. Beautiful restaurant. Super friendly service and yummy food. Made an order to go for the brewery next door. I had two mahi mahi tacos. Served on a flour tortilla with a delicious white sauce. A piece of grilled Mahi mahi and a side of coleslaw. The chowder super perfect! Just enough buttery flavor with clams, potatoes and bacon. Definitely a winner! I like boathouse 19 for the atmosphere and the view. It is probably one of the most scenic spots to hang out on the outer sound, when the weather is nice. I have been here several times previously but had only had drinks, so this was my first time having a meal. I was pretty disappointed with the food. The pan fried oysters were listed under the "large plate" entree section. And for $32 I expected a full sized meal, but it was fairly small. The food itself was fine flavor wise, but not to the standard I would like for the price. I spent over $100 total for two people and we left hungry and went to chick fillet afterwards. I still like boathouse 19 as a hang out spot and will still come back again, but next time I'll just stick to drinks or small snacks from the app menu. read more

Had lunch here on a Thursday. Service was very good. Friendly staff. Had not been here for years and thought we would try it again. Food was good but unimpressive. Had fish sandwich with fries. Very bland flavor, piece of fish was on the small side. Fries were hot and crispy Loud environment To carry on a conversation. Container that holds the sugar packets and the salt and pepper have not been cleaned for a very long time. Eventually, we moved the group back to Boathouse 19 at a table for more late night apps and drinks to end the night as the sunset by the waterfall was gorgeous and their outdoor seating is right by the docks. Jason was our server and he was so funny and hospitable despite it being the end of his shift and almost time to close the restaurant. Very great server! Made our night. I will say the food was delicious but the "big plate" sections of the menu were not as big portion size as I thought by the term "big plate" haha. But great seafood nonetheless! read more

I do love Boathouse 19 and it's the go-to for what has become a monthly meal with high-school classmates. The food is tasty and filling although i usually order the Caesar Salad with Chicken preceded by a cup of clam chowder. This establishment's chowder is quite tasty. The view of the Narrows Bridge and Puget Sound is appreciated by this native Tacoman. The wait staff are all perky and professional and all is well in my world when I get to see Shawna who is a lovely soul. We ordered 2 IPAs and 1 lager, both were flat which was a real let down. My son had the kids chicken tender meal, it was surprisingly small. I had a cup of chowder and 2 piece cod. On the menu it stated the cod was "award winning"...which award idk but ive definitely had better for half the price. Over all for the price, I expected larger portions and more flavor. My first time dining at Boathouse. Arrived 15 minutes prior to opening. When seated promptly at opening and ordered coffee it was served pukey warm. Reordered and it was then served hot. I ordered the steamers and EVERY SINGLE clam had sand in it. The broth was excellent, though. I did not reorder as I knew the next batch would be in the same condition. The Weed salad was tasty but for the price, NOT! Lettuce and four croutons does NOT constitute a salad. The appetizer bread ( $12) was literally 7 very thin small triangles of a crunchy bread that was very over spiced with chile flakes ( I think) and couldn't enjoy the flavor because of it. Our server, however, tried very hard, and that I always appreciate. Won't return. read more

Since moving to the area this has been out go to restaurant. Great outdoor seating with a nice view, not sure how I'll feel when outdoor seating season is over but for now we love this place. Food has always been good, decent kids meal that's more than chicken fingers and burgers which they have but my kids mostly get the fish and chips. And the menu is a coloring one so keeps them occupied. Service has always been decent and they get the kids food out fast which is much appreciated. read more

Outstanding experience! This was my second trip, and both have been most excellent. It was Halloween, so it was a crapshoot as to how busy the restaurant might be, but no line, instant seating overlooking the water. The server, EVA H. was totally fabulous, and made the experience even better! Ordered the Dungeness Crab Dip appetizer, which with fresh baked bread was amazing-- I highly recommend it. Had the New York Strip steak (the single most expensive entrée on the menu) and it was worth every penny. I recommend putting some of the dip on the steak (or burger), a truly heavenly taste treat. 5 Stars for sure! read more

Looking for a place along the waterfront and found this place. The location is kind of hidden away and limited parking close by but you can't beat the view of the sound and Tacoma Narrows bridge. It was a Friday night and luckily the 3 in our party was over 21 so we got to sit in the bar area. Our waiter was very knowledgeable but also the bartender. Menu had great options and pricing was to be expected for the location. I was excited about the deep fried pickles when I asked if spears or chips but I guess now I should ask if it's "dill or sweet" because these were sweet. I'm not a fan of sweet pickles but I ordered them so was gonna finish. I love clam chowder and this one did not disappoint! The garlic bread was crispy but had too much garlic (there is such a thing lol). My other 2 companions were satisfied with their choices as well. Take me back to Boathouse 19! I cant get enough of this place! From the stunning views of the Narrows bridge to the perfect patio seating, I loved the vibes here and it's the perfect place to soak up some sunrays during a WA summer season. Regarding our meal, for lunch I had the Hawaiian Poke Salad. Yum Yum YUM! This dish took me back to Hawaii and gave me all the feels. The fish was fresh and the dressing was light. Perfect meal to make me not too full. Service as great too. I asked our server how long the seasonal desserts were going to last and she took the time to ask the chef to make sure I wouldnt miss out on an opportunity to try them. Seriously, their seasonal berry desserts are to die for. If I only had those desserts for the rest of my life, I would be a happy girl! I wish they kept them all year long, but I recommend trying one before the end of summer if they still have them.
