Loco moco $14... it was good but don't think worth the price.

described themselves as "casual neighborhood bar" and that is right on point. local customers (older), local brews, locally owned. tiny bar but cool vibe even a lounge seating toward the back with a tv. it took a while for us to get even acknowledged bar tender and wife(i assume) kept their conversations going with those at the bar while noticing we came in a sat but gave us no menus or came up to us or even smiled as to acknowledge our existence -- we waited about a little over 5 mins for any menus. i wasn't mad but just fyi service super casual. i wouldn't eat here it was expensive especially for the portion and what they were serving ($14 for rice beef patty and one egg). kind of interesting menu... mexican, thai, "hawaiian", and standard burgers and salads available. if i was in the area and wanted a nice local beer without grunge or a weird crowd id come here but would not come out of my way. shared parking lot that has good amount of parking but is moderately tiny.

Just loved this place! Excellent service, amazing cocktails, beer flights, and the food...so good! Limited menu, but great food. The special was an artichoke dip and I hope it's always on the menu. Recommend for sure!!!

This is a great bar with very good food. I ordered the Blackberry Whiskey Smash cocktail, this drink was amazing. Then I ordered the Loco Moco entree, the dish was exceptional. The servers were outstanding. I left something at the bar, and the staff quickly left the bar and returned my item. This was such an amazing experience, I will definitely return.

I have passed by this place MANY times! Finally stopped by for a quick dinner. Now it's one of my new favorite places!! I can't wait to go back with some girlfriends. My meal, appetizer, drink, and customer service were all GREAT! Definitely check this place out, I absolutely love the vibe as well. If they added breakfast I would come here at least once a month because I know it would be a nice spot for that as well. Small but powerful flavors in their food. Thank you for my yummy meal! There are not many good places near Tacoma anymore. Glad I found this spot!

Love me some Thirsty Hound ! This is the BEST bar in University Place hands down!! It's always pretty busy but if you can find a seat, go in and check it out !! The staff is always very friendly and accommodating and the food and drinks are too notch. I hadn't been in for a while but I noticed on a Facebook post they had a sliced pie as a special this week which was the BANOFFEE Pie and I must admit I'm mainly writing them a review right now in hopes management will see this review and put this pie on the menu permanently!! It's soooooo yummy with the espresso, sliced bananas, dulce de leche and chocolate. It was like a dessert dream come true for me and while the desserts they have as part of their regular menu aren't bad whatsoever --this is the one I would order every time I come in if they had it !!! It went very well with my favorite drink here, the PBJ drink, which is essentially a peanut butter jelly sandwich in a glass ... which explains why I stop in when I've got the lunch money for it ;) I also recommend the caprese salad, especially when it's hot outside as I has been this week, and the flatbread pizzas but really you can't go wrong with anything on the menu here so if you're as thirsty as a hound dog come by a drink, some grub and hangout !

Ambience: This is a friendly neighborhood bar which is usually packed. They show variety of sports games on the big TVs. They also have a leather sofa and fireplace in the back! Drinks: They have rotating beers on tap, list is on their website. They also have a full bar -- blood orange margarita is my favorite! Food: Consistently tasty, restaurant style food with an Asian flair. It is homey, nonstandard bar food and a hybrid between home-cooking and a sit-down restaurant. My most recent visit involved the crab cake sliders and tom ka gai. Both delish! I also like their pretzels. Service: Decent, as long as you're not in a hurry. The wait staff will chat with you as well. Overall it feels like going to a friend's house and their mom just made lunch. (Except now I'm an adult and there's a full bar.) Picasso, I like it!

Great cocktails and food choices. It's a small space though so on a weekend night it can be quite crowded in there.

The sliders bring everything you love about a banh mi to a mini slider that is the perfect snack size (although, they were so good we ended up ordering another) Our waitress was super kind and helpful with ordering, even suggesting a cocktail that was delicious. I grabbed Mr Snuffleupagus because the concept of a tahini washed rye was too much to pass on. It was fantastic. The tahini almost comes across with a PB-like flavor. I ordered the steak frites, medium rare. We shared the pickle plate and fried mushrooms. The pickled carrots were great. Loved them. The pickled fennel was also delicious. The mushrooms were lovely - very enjoyable. The frite were awesome! You can certainly tell the they're fried in beef fat. The steak was perfect. We loved Corbeau and will certainly come back.

She was super nice, our waitress too. The place itself is very cute, super noisy (be mindful if you have hearings aids or are prone to sensory issues because it is CRAZY loud - so much so that they have noise reducing panels all over the ceiling and walls). It's very much a romantic aesthetic but the tiny tables become a nuisance when they bring you a plate per food item (steak and fries come separately, etc). The food itself is where we were kind of... disappointed is too strong a word, but something nearing it? We ordered the bread (which should never be $7 but here we are), the French onion soup, the steak and frites and the scallops. I'm a Spaniard so I'm very used to carne en salsa de pimienta, which I feel is what the steak sauce was meant to be. It was, don't get me wrong, it was just pepper on steroids! It definitely wakes you up!! It was missing some other spice or herb that I couldn't quite place but it wasn't bad at all, just definitely strong. Personally, the steak was well cooked but my husband said it was too dry for medium. The fries were very tasty but we are still team duck fat, and the soup was okay, but we've had tastier. Our main gripe was with the scallops. Keep in mind that the scallops were $47 (the steak was $45). The scallops were served over a bed of lentils and radish slices for some reason. Well, lentils, radishes AND ginger. By ginger, I mean all of the ginger in all the worlds' countries. Horseradish could give this dish a run for its money in the nasal clearing department. We didn't understand the almost Indian flavors in tacoma-french cuisine. It didn't pair well with the scallops and the rest of the menu, honestly. We couldn't eat it so basically we paid $47 for 5 scallops. Lovely that financial journey for us! If you're into sensorial challenges, both auditory and gustation, then Corbeau is the place for you! It's a nice place for a fancy looking dinner, but you won't be able to hold a proper conversation unless you're yelling. Also, don't be surprised - there's a 20% surcharge on every check.

It's a small place so definitely show up when they're about to open (4pm) bc it'll get crowded by then! Their seating is small so the booths are really for 2 ppl. We were a group of 3 and made it work! Our server was nice and patient with our questions! He said they do this "Christmas pop up bar" during the holidays and fully revamp their menu to be holiday-themed. Everything will be taken down and full menu back in January. I got the Christmapolitan which was lovely! My friend got the cocktail that was named from the Die Hard movie, "Yipee, kai-yay MF" lol. It was pretty good and came in a cute Santa mug with only Santa's bottom half The popcorn chicken was crispy and juicy! Their fries are BOMB, loved the crispiness of it. I got the hot chicken sandwich and it was crispy but kinda got messy and saucey towards the end...overall, pretty good food for what we had and drinks. For the holidays season, they have mugs and shot glasses for purchase to take home.

When I arrived, there was no greeter or host present. I went to the empty seat, briefly set down my coat, and dropped off the birthday gift. When I returned to the seat moments later, a member of the wait staff approached me and said, "What do you think we are doing? We seat people here." I asked whether that was how customers are typically greeted. She then stated that I had "tons of privilege" and directed me to leave the bar, including while I was standing near the door waiting for my friends. I understand that businesses have seating policies, but in this instance there was no clear signage or staff guidance upon entry. The situation was handled in a way that escalated rather than clarified the issue and detracted from what was intended to be a birthday celebration. Added after response from owner: You are certainly free to report your side of the story. I was greeted by your staff with the line, "Who the hell are you!" I asked, "Do you greet all of your customers that way." She then berated me and told me that she does if they just walk in and skip the line. Like most bars, with no one present at the front I assumed bar seating was open. Upon greeting my friends I took the seat. In regards to threatening remarks, the only threat I made was that I would leave a review. I used no harsh language and proceeded to the front of the restaurant to wait for my friends who decided to cash out. Your staff member proceeded to continue to berate me and tell me I would be trespassed if I didn't leave the restaurant and stand in the rain. I did leave while she continued to scream at me. Since I did not have context for what you described a simple, "Hi, we seat at the bar here and this is someone else's seat" would have been a great way to greet me. Don't assume I had bad intent just because I was trying to patronize the establishment. I highly suggest you read your reviews and quit attacking your patrons. Based on what I have read you have a serious problem with staff behavior. You spend all of your time on here defending bad practices instead of improving your service. I am happy to say that I will never patronize your business. In addition you lost 14 other customers due to your actions. I was told I must have privilege just to walk in to meet my friends at a bar. You have a clear over inflated sense of self worth to assume your bar is so great that treating customers this way will keep you in business. Best of luck, and you are correct, a place where staff greet you by yelling at you is not a great fit for me. It likely isn't for others as well.

She still said it was good overall. I ordered the Scarlet Rosemary (chicken and homemade pasta), and it was really good.
