One day I received a notification that one of my fellow Yelpers had checked into this place, and I decided to look it up to see what they had to offer. I'm a big fan of breweries, especially those with several drinks on draught or tap, and if they're really good, I'll buy them in a bottle. However, I read their review and noticed that they had vegan and vegetarian options, so I thought, "You know what? That's a combination I can't resist. Beers with a delicious sandwich!" A few days later, I made plans to visit on Saturday, which happened to be one of the two days this year that it snowed in the Pirec. It was quite amusing with the parking and the snow that stuck everywhere. As soon as I walked in, the bar was buzzing with energy. It had a great vibe. I didn't think I'd get any seats, but I managed to snag one at the bar with a very friendly person. I spent all but about 3 to 4 hours there. The sandwich I ordered was called the Rainier, and it was mentioned in the review, but the name wasn't revealed. It consists of a field roast loaf, Chao vegan cheese, herbed vegan mayonnaise, tomato, red onion, and arugula on sourdough bread. I'm not a big fan of mayonnaise, even if it's vegan, so I swapped it out with some pesto-style creamy cheese, and it turned out even better than I expected. The sandwich was a perfect five out of five. I would definitely order it every time I come. It came with a side of chips, which was a great addition. The sandwich was massive, so I could only eat half of it. I took the other half home for the next day. For my beers, I'm a big stout-and-porter guy, so I went with the Fort George's. They had two options: the Salted Caramel Cavatica & Matryoshka Vanilla. Both were exceptionally flavorful and probably my favorite porters I've had in all of Washington and many other states. Unfortunately, they ran out of the Salted Caramel Cavatica, so I ended up drinking the Matryoshka Vanilla for the rest of the night and didn't mind at all. Overall, I had a fantastic time at this place. I'm definitely going to make it a regular stop in my monthly rotations around Tacoma. Highly recommend stopping by this place. It's definitely a five. Service is amazing, and the drinks are worth the trip. They have an array of options, which is what I love about this place. Until next time! read more

Came here again before Rocky Horror Picture Show midnight time with Chiyoko. It was chill. Got pretzel sticks that came different sauces, which I liked. Staff here is nice and okay with providing recommendations. They work with what they know and what the customer is into. Lots of tables to accommodate customers who are there to stay for a while because waiting to watch a movie or playing a board game. Very fun and would appreciate more lighting at the tables to be able to comfortably read menu. Food tastes fine, but my favorite one is the deviled egg because very creamy and light touch of spicy with the jalapeño pepper slice put on top with paprika. read more

Showed up for a buddies birthday get together. This place I would say is just ok. Nothing too special. Runs about $7 a beer on average. There is a ton of selections on tap and from the cooler. Food is so so. Typical bar food. No one working there is very friendly. Kind of just seems like they are just waiting for closing. It was super load which has nothing to do with the place. Went in at 1 pm on a weekday to buy a gift card for a friend. Had my sleeping 3 month old baby in her car seat on my hip as I was stopping on my way somewhere else. The woman behind the bar glared at me and told me I can't be there with someone under 21. (Because yes, I was planning to get some beer for my infant...) I explained that I wasn't seeking service, but wanted to quickly buy a gift card. She told me it didn't matter and seemed angry at me and said "yeah... this is a bar." In hindsight I should have turned around and not given them my business. It was not the fact that she tried to turn me away (which I would have understood), it was the way in which she did it. Mean and condescending for no reason. I have spoken to some other friends who have had similar negative experiences with her. Cannot believe that we live less than 5 minutes away and hadn't been here. We were looking for some takeout sandwiches for the Old Town Concert in the Park, and stumbled upon Peaks and Pints. Prior to heading to the Pantages for an event, we wanted a hearty, but healthy and casual meal. It was Friday and super crowded but we were able to find a seat. Lots of comfortable seating throughout the bar, which encourages this local friendly atmosphere. It's obvious this is a great neighborhood hangout for after work. Easy service at the bar and they bring your food in a reasonable amount of time- especially for as busy as they were. The largest selection of refrigerated ciders & beers I've ever seen covered the better part of two walls! Restrooms were VERY clean, and well maintained. Such an amazing place! I've been here a few times before I started Yelping but it holds up from what I remember! They have a huge tap list and a ginormous cooler full of cans and bottles! Plus, their food (mainly sandwiches) is so delicious! Very quality and fresh ingredients It was pretty slammed when we got here (~5pm) but the staff was friendly even though they were busy. It died down after a little bit (630pm) but it was still poppin! They have a lot of tables and plenty of barstools, so come in a group of 6-8 and you'd be fine! Had been wanting a good sandwich and Peaks and Pints did not disappoint. I had their tuna melt. So delicious. The beer was great too..I wish I remembered the name. It was very Christmassy. We live approx 45 mins away but thought we'd check this place out while we were in the area for an appointment. We ordered beer, sandwiches and ended up grabbing some cans to-go. It's quite expansive inside (and a little on the dark side which I like). Everything was pretty awesome - except for the lack of service/courtesy from an older female server wearing jean overalls. She was horrendous in all ways (ignored us completely for quite a long time, couldn't keep track of our orders, cleared my husband's glass of beer before he was finished with it, was abrupt to the point of being rude). We eventually moved down the bar so we could be in the section of a male server (30's ish, white, facial hair) so we could actually have some decent service; he was running his butt off handling his customers AND some of hers from what we could tell. We also had great service from the kitchen staff (so these two employees are who the 4 stars are for). We love coming to Tacoma for dining, drinks & entertainment but we'll be avoiding the horrible non-server if we come back to this location in the future. read more

They have a fantastic vegan sandwich (as well as several others), a great selection of salads, a fresh sheet every day (most recently I had delicious spicy deviled eggs), and so many beers, cider, wine, and even cold brew coffee on tap. Visited 10/19/23. Popped in with a friend to grab a drink and some apps and we were not disappointed. Easy to order at the counter and I liked that they had a few sizes to pick from for beers so I could try a few. They also have large coolers to pick from too. Really cool set up that would make for a perfect after work HH. We got the pretzel sticks and the add on cheese and these were perfect. The cheese was a bit zestier and I would definitely add it on. . Usually I love a great beer place. Especially one with an extensive list of choices from cider, wine to of course beer. This spot has 28 choices. And the food menu is quite lovely. The pita bread and gorgonzola cheese dip appetizer was delicious. The bread was hot and toasty and the dip had a cover of olive tapenade which I love. Dirty dishes were taken away fast. The turn off here? The vibe. It is obviously a "good old boy" club hangout. Apparent as the afternoon progressed and when a new bartender came on his shift. As he did he yelled a greeting to a group of men next to my friend and I. I don't mind hardy yelling in a bar situation, but one of the obvious regulars yelled a very rude thing. The bartender made a comment about being an "A", to help out the "B's", I assume he was referring to the other bartenders, which were women, and a man behind me yelled out, "Are you referring to the Bitc....'es? You spell the rest. I don't want my review removed for foul language. Now I'm no angel with my words but, he was clearly referring to woman. The bartender approached this man and I overheard him saying he should not be driving. Obviously he had already tied one on. Now, I'm all for having a good time and even raunchy jokes. But this misogynistic behavior was extremely offensive. I might come here if I was looking for something to go, the cold case selection was great. But there are plenty of other places to go and sit and enjoy a beer. I will leave this hangout to the locals. read more

Solid place to chill and get a pint. You can definitely pick from the tap or even head over to the coolers. Where there is lots of choices of different types of beer from different areas. One of the better experiences I have had at a beer bar while in Tacoma. The cans/bottles to go selection is huge. You can either drink them in house or get any glass style you'd like to pour it up for you or your buddies. The prices were more than fair as they offer a wide variety of 5-16oz draft selections. It was nice to have a pub that did not allow kids and as a mother of 4 older adults and two grandkids, it was just nice to get away! My sister, a Tacoma resident and I enjoyed today. Spacious and cool. The decor was so cool with amazing artwork, stuffed wild animals and so many amazing trinkets for decorating. Matthew, was a well versed bartender and I asked him for his suggestions on a low ABV hazy IPA. His response was immediate with a newly stocked beer "Itsy bits" from Colorado. It was exactly what I was looking for. The menu was full of great looking sandwiches and salads, not to forget appetizers. My eyes are always bigger than my stomach. We ordered the spicy deviled eggs and pretzel sticks first. The deviled eggs had a little bite on the back end but were such a treat. OMG the pretzel sticks were glorious, great aroma, soft and salted just right. There were at least 8 fully stocked coolers of any beer, cider, wine, and ranch type water one could ask for. Please give this pub a try whenever in Tacoma. Waitstaff very friendly and could make any a recommendation for any question one has. Definitely an 8 star establishment. Peaks and Pints is a great place to hang out and grab a pint and some food. Something unique about Peaks and Pints is how good their salads are. Definitely not something you would expect but nice to have some fresh salad options that are better than most in town. Because of this, I'll choose this over many other places that only have good fried food. My only complaint is that the sandwiches need more meat! We decided to try Peaks and Pints for the Monday special of their French Dip paired with a Saison. I opted against the Saison since it was not draft. They have many choices of beers and are happy to let you try some out. I like that you can order each beer in a variety of sizes (e.g 5oz, 10 oz, pint).The French Dip was very good. Simple sandwich: Good bread, beef, mayo and cheese. They provided plenty of AuJus to dip. We also ordered the Beet Salad. Interesting way to cut the beets (shoestrings), and the proportions of other ingredients (very fresh lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, walnuts, onions, and dressing) were good. The place has a great vibe. I have been coming to Peaks and Pints since they opened a number of years ago. I have always had a good time and they have always provided great service, beer and tasty food. However, this time was different, since I was retiring from the military after 21 years. I needed a location to hold about 60 to 80 folks, so I made reservations. Erin helped me setup the dates and food in advance. Along came that day. I walked in and the room was already setup. Justin said he would be my "guy" for the night getting food and beer for the guests. Ok to put this in perspective, I have ate at a ton of fancy restaurants and I have never had service as good as Justin provided that night. Absolutely amazing! No one waited for anything and he even noticed when I was out of beer and offered to grab me something. Apps came out fresh and hot, as well as the fantastic sandwiches. These guys went above and beyond anything that I have experienced ever! To top it off, they presented me with a vertical flight of Fremont B-Bomb 17, 18, 19 beers for my retirement. I've been here a few times, and the sandwiches are just okay but it's close to home. After my last experience though, I won't be returning. I ordered the Italian Grinder. 15 minutes later the waiter comes around and says "Here you go, Ham & Pesto Grinder". I said, Oh that's not me, I ordered the Italian Grinder. He goes, oh, okay, and walks back around the wall. He comes back a couple minutes later and says "Alright, here's that Ham & Pesto Grinder" and again I was like, sorry that's not what I ordered. I ordered the Italian Grinder. Waiter says "Okay but this one is really good too." I replied, I'm sure it is but it's not what I ordered. He basically repeated again, "You should really try this one, it's really good". I could see that he wasn't going to take no for an answer so I took the sandwich. He was wrong, it wasn't very good. Now here's the kicker. I paid and left and on the way back to the car checked my receipt: Sure enough, I did order the Italian Grinder. But down at the bottom under "table number" somebody free-formed. Let's pretend my name is John Smith. The note at the bottom of the receipt said "Eeww, John Smith?" I guess they were mad that I had the temerity to mention they got my order wrong and then eat it anyway. Top shelf customer service, folks. read more
