Parking lot is super small, but they do have ample street parking right out front and we found a spot no problem. This bar is definitely on the cozier side, with maybe a total of 30 seats if I had to guess. There's about 10-12 seats at the bar and then the rest is booth seating on the opposite wall. The selection was rather decent for drinks, with them surprising us with not one, not two, but FOUR hard cider choices for my husband. Most places only have 1-2, and they usually are ones he doesn't like, but he got lucky here. Another bonus: strong pours. :) I saw a menu for food, but it was only a few choices - I forget what they all were, but I know one was a cheeseburger. So, probably don't plan to come here stuffed, but they do have snacks should you need it. This spot is definitely on the lowkey side but it was a comfortable stop. We're not in the area too often, but we would return if we were.

The times I was here with Steve we usually stuck with the beer selection and with what was on tap there. It's mostly local beers in the metro area and I remember the variety of that list being pretty generous. So that was all good. We even got some food to eat here. I have had their burgers here and liked them quite a bit. The classic type burger seems to be the Park Burger and along with fries it proved to be a good meal. Definitely a nice establishment for the neighborhood!

The menu is accessed by QR codes on the table. They have an *extremely* long list of cocktails, all named appropriately with the theming, but somewhat lacking in variety. Most of the cocktails are some combination of rum, spices, lime/lemon, and maybe something else fruity or sweet. My wife had a Ships from Far Shores while I enjoyed an Astro Orbiter. Their menu has an indicator of how strong each drink is, and it doesn't lie. The Astro Orbiter tasted great but was indeed quite strong. The staff were extremely polite and a pleasure to talk to. Unfortunately their kitchen was closed the evening we went, so we weren't able to grab any food, but hopefully we'll to try some the next time we stop by.

Okay - well apparently you don't like tips then? In Washington you can't get your horizontal until AFTER you turn 21. So that means the day of your 21st - you're going to have a vertical and probably will have it for the next 3-6 weeks after. Initially they tried to tell us it's the law. WRONG. The only law is that the establishment has to check the birthdate and the photo. The staff at Bumpy's wanted no part of that - which, how lazy can you get?! Call me crazy but I don't think many kids with fakes are going to get a VERTICAL fake! Use your brains Bumpy's. If the liquor board is on your a$$ for serving minors - it's not because you're serving people with vertical IDs. It's because you aren't checking the birthdate and the photo on the HORIZONTAL ID to begin with - and you clearly don't own a scanner. Zero reason to greet customers so rudely. Just bad business all around. Too bad, too.. We're good tippers. That bartender could've made about $300 just off us.

We are shocked…read more My fiancé and I have always wanted to stop in to Home Plate Tavern - we've passed it probably a million times on the way to family's houses in the Tacoma area and have always noted that it looks like our vibe. Happy to report that it is. First thing we noticed was that parking was interesting - there's not really a lot at all, but a solid block or so worth of street parking and we got lucky with one really close to the entrance. Service was good from the jump and they had a solid selection of drinks to choose from. We weren't there for food at all but I think I remember seeing a simple menu with a few typical bar food options. They've got a pool table here as well as a good amount of dart boards. Darts is our game of choice when we're out so we were stoked to see they had quite a few because a good amount of people were playing on a Friday early evening. Funny story - I happened to text my mom and tell her where we were and she told me that it was one of HER old stomping grounds back in the day and she sent me photos of herself with the owner... Who just happened to be there! I went over and introduced myself to him and he said he could already recognize who I was and how much he missed my mom! The rest of the staff ALSO knew who my mom was so clearly the team there has been around for a while. We chatted with a few other patrons here and they were all super nice and welcoming. We've definitely found a new bar to add to our rotation and are looking forward to returning soon.
