I've been going to this bar for probably about a decade now. It has been through several different…read moreincarnations and three different owners in this time. It has remained one of the coolest dive bars I've ever been in. In the last couple of years, they started serving some really, really yummy food. I get the Philly cheesesteak, but have them use cheddar and put extra onions on it. It is absolutely to die for. Steve, the mastermind behind the majority of the menu, also recently added on Browned butter cocoa puff marshmallow treats. ZOMG! They no longer just have beer and wine, they have hard alcohol now. This is resulted in some, how you say, "more interesting" evenings than it did before, but overall the crowd is really friendly and supportive of the nightly karaoke singers. Had my first date with Flava Dave there. I don't drink and neither does my now husband (Flava Dave) so we go up and do duets and call ourselves The Sober Barflies. The karaoke hosts are always a lot of fun. Flava Dave picks up fill-in karaoke shifts there occasionally. Sam Cori is adorable, upbeat, and a classically trained singer and songwriter. She makes *another* performance of Bohemian Rhapsody fun and fresh again! We even had Gabe (one of the Karaoke hosts with a heartthrob vibrato bass voice), sing the music for our wedding and host karaoke at in my parents' sizeable rec-room afterward! He knocked my folks out signing Unchained Melody, their song, at our little reception. A lot of momentous occasions, birthday gatherings, and bachelorette parties take place there. I've seen a number of people get proposed to, and once saw a very spontaneous, actual wedding. There's a lot of really cool history in that place. It's over 100 years old and it's an official historical landmark in the United States. There's a lot of lore behind it. Stories of being haunted. It's a really amazing place to see. Plus, it's shaped like a coffee pot, how can you beat that?

Basically a piña colada. * Pecan't Even - Like an Old Fashioned, with candied pecans on the side. * Banana Split (don't remember the exact name) - Delicious! It really tasted like a banana split. * Chocolate milkshake mocktail (with alcohol added) - Also really good; it tasted just like chocolate. Personally, my favorites were the dessert-inspired drinks because they're not something you can find just anywhere. Unfortunately, the service really brought the experience down. We came in at 9:20 p.m. on a Sunday as a party of four adults in our 30s. We walked in completely sober and specifically came just to try the cocktails--I was so excited! When we reached the bar, the bartender warned us that last call was in 20 minutes. I inquired, "Oh, so we should just order the second round now?" He replied, "Oh no, you have to finish your drink first." About 10 minutes later, a server came by to let us know last call was in 10 minutes. Shortly afterward, the bartender brought us our drinks. I playfully said, "So I have to finish this in 10 minutes to order another?" He responded, "No, I'm not making you another one." We left around 9:50 p.m., before closing, and I was honestly astonished. We certainly weren't going to get rowdy after two drinks. If anything, every other bartender I've encountered would have encouraged another round or even offered shots--which honestly would have doubled the tip because we're considerate customers. That interaction really soured what had otherwise been a great experience. We were visiting from out of state, so we won't have another opportunity to come back and try more of the menu until our next trip.

Really cozy spot nestled in downtown Tacoma. To the layman it may seem like just a dark "pirate" or "tiki bar", but the focus is really more centered around Lovecraftian and cosmic horror - not something you see you often but very much appreciated among those who are familiar. The menu is accessed by QR codes on the table. They have an *extremely* long list of cocktails, all named appropriately with the theming, but somewhat lacking in variety. Most of the cocktails are some combination of rum, spices, lime/lemon, and maybe something else fruity or sweet. My wife had a Ships from Far Shores while I enjoyed an Astro Orbiter. Their menu has an indicator of how strong each drink is, and it doesn't lie. The Astro Orbiter tasted great but was indeed quite strong. The staff were extremely polite and a pleasure to talk to. Unfortunately their kitchen was closed the evening we went, so we weren't able to grab any food, but hopefully we'll to try some the next time we stop by.

He told me it was club soda and when I asked WHY??? he didn't flinch and told me that that was a lot of redbull. Very high praise continues there as well! I got the Gold Star which was excellent as it has ginger in it which I love. My daughter had just turned 21 and we wanted to take her out, so about 10 of us headed into Bumpy's. The second we walked in we were greeted with eyerolls and a very bi**hy attitude from the bartender. Before we could even order, she yells "We don't serve anyone with a vertical". Okay - well apparently you don't like tips then? In Washington you can't get your horizontal until AFTER you turn 21. So that means the day of your 21st - you're going to have a vertical and probably will have it for the next 3-6 weeks after. Initially they tried to tell us it's the law. WRONG. The only law is that the establishment has to check the birthdate and the photo. The staff at Bumpy's wanted no part of that - which, how lazy can you get?! Call me crazy but I don't think many kids with fakes are going to get a VERTICAL fake! Use your brains Bumpy's. If the liquor board is on your a$$ for serving minors - it's not because you're serving people with vertical IDs. It's because you aren't checking the birthdate and the photo on the HORIZONTAL ID to begin with - and you clearly don't own a scanner. Zero reason to greet customers so rudely. Just bad business all around. Too bad, too.. We're good tippers. That bartender could've made about $300 just off us.

This is a typical dive bar with regulars at the bar looking hazily at their libations. Soft rock played in the background and lots of high tops beside the bar. I was asked to order and picked out deviled eggs and nachos! How could you go wrong even if they were so so? Well, the joke was on our friend because they were delicious! The deviled eggs had bacon crumpled on top with sliced green onions and were served on a bed of greens! The nachos were well covered and must have been prepared in layers. Dive bars can have great food!
