Very refreshing straight up ginger beer!
Alden C.

Side Pony Lounge is a cocktail bar that I have been wanting to go to for a while and was in fact in my old neighborhood where I lived in for a while so it was nice to come back. I remember when I did live around here this very spot was an ice cream shop and later a Kombucha brewery. I am glad that the space is getting reused. When we sat down we were told by the waitress that they had their own house made ginger beer which really caught my attention. I do like ginger! I saw that they had the ginger beer in their Moscow Mule and so I ordered one of those. I liked it very much and even ordered a straight up ginger beer afterwards. If you enjoy ginger, specifically ginger beer then Side Pony has a really good one! In addition to that Steve and I ordered some nachos. This was kind of a spin on nachos you might get at a convenience store but Side Pony's version was way better than what it's inspired from. The nacho experience took me back to my youth in the 80's whenI first noticed these nachos which is very fitting as the atmosphere of the lounge definitely and delightfully 80's inspired. Definitely looking forward to a return trip and even if it's just for the ginger beer!

One of my best friends and I try and make it out once a month for "mom's night out" and this last time we went to Side Pony per my boyfriend's recommendation. He's a fan of their sister bar, The Mule Tavern, so I thought we'd give it a try! Bottom line is that it's a SUPER cool dive bar with the best vibe and the coolest owner. We intended on only being out for a couple hours and we were here for five... LOL whoops! Bonus points for having a TouchTunes jukebox and also pickle juice for pickle backs. More bonus points for the owner who takes your name instead of your card to keep your tab running. He's a cool guy. I'll definitely be coming back here. A welcomed addition to the Sixth Ave bar scene!

Stopped in for a quick drink and had the Pim's Cup which was incredible - strong cucumber notes and incredibly refreshing. The ambiance was also sunning - something out of the 80's. Service was quick and accommodating. Highly recommended!

Great service and atmophere. The vegan sloppy joes are the best! They have some theme nights as well. Check them out.

Always a good vibe here. Small, cozy, with a good bourbon selection. Best part? they keep it simple and execute it well.

I've been going to this bar for probably about a decade now. It has been through several different…read moreincarnations and three different owners in this time. It has remained one of the coolest dive bars I've ever been in. In the last couple of years, they started serving some really, really yummy food. I get the Philly cheesesteak, but have them use cheddar and put extra onions on it. It is absolutely to die for. Steve, the mastermind behind the majority of the menu, also recently added on Browned butter cocoa puff marshmallow treats. ZOMG! They no longer just have beer and wine, they have hard alcohol now. This is resulted in some, how you say, "more interesting" evenings than it did before, but overall the crowd is really friendly and supportive of the nightly karaoke singers. Had my first date with Flava Dave there. I don't drink and neither does my now husband (Flava Dave) so we go up and do duets and call ourselves The Sober Barflies. The karaoke hosts are always a lot of fun. Flava Dave picks up fill-in karaoke shifts there occasionally. Sam Cori is adorable, upbeat, and a classically trained singer and songwriter. She makes *another* performance of Bohemian Rhapsody fun and fresh again! We even had Gabe (one of the Karaoke hosts with a heartthrob vibrato bass voice), sing the music for our wedding and host karaoke at in my parents' sizeable rec-room afterward! He knocked my folks out signing Unchained Melody, their song, at our little reception. A lot of momentous occasions, birthday gatherings, and bachelorette parties take place there. I've seen a number of people get proposed to, and once saw a very spontaneous, actual wedding. There's a lot of really cool history in that place. It's over 100 years old and it's an official historical landmark in the United States. There's a lot of lore behind it. Stories of being haunted. It's a really amazing place to see. Plus, it's shaped like a coffee pot, how can you beat that?

These roadside America kitschy buildings amuse me greatly, and I'll always go out of my way to visit them when I can. Bob's Java Jive doesn't disappoint!

The food is my favorite part. I can have a beer anywhere, but the food is actually pretty on point minus the nachos, sad to say. Always overcooked, cheese is hardened and well beyond melted, but a massive portion in size. The sandwiches are amazing, the quesadillas are amazing, have yet to make it there before breakfast ends but I'm betting it's probably pretty good. Staff are friendly, efficient, and do well on checking to make sure you're not waiting too long for service without being too bothersome. It gets a little loud, busy and crowded on nights especially on the weekends, but that's typical bar atmosphere. Patio seating is nice on sunny days like today. 5/5 for a hometown spot in the neighborhood.

This was on the…read moreway to another plan in the area and we had some time to kill, so we stopped in for a quick drink and to check it out after seeing how close it was. Parking lot is super small, but they do have ample street parking right out front and we found a spot no problem. This bar is definitely on the cozier side, with maybe a total of 30 seats if I had to guess. There's about 10-12 seats at the bar and then the rest is booth seating on the opposite wall. The selection was rather decent for drinks, with them surprising us with not one, not two, but FOUR hard cider choices for my husband. Most places only have 1-2, and they usually are ones he doesn't like, but he got lucky here. Another bonus: strong pours. :) I saw a menu for food, but it was only a few choices - I forget what they all were, but I know one was a cheeseburger. So, probably don't plan to come here stuffed, but they do have snacks should you need it. This spot is definitely on the lowkey side but it was a comfortable stop. We're not in the area too often, but we would return if we were.

The times I was here with Steve we usually stuck with the beer selection and with what was on tap there. It's mostly local beers in the metro area and I remember the variety of that list being pretty generous. So that was all good. We even got some food to eat here. I have had their burgers here and liked them quite a bit. The classic type burger seems to be the Park Burger and along with fries it proved to be a good meal. Definitely a nice establishment for the neighborhood!

I got a great cocktail... very well crafted! But after going to look at the menu when writing the review to get the precise name of it I couldn't find it. So it may not be available. It sounds like they shift out their cocktail menu from time to time so it definitely changes. The food menu is great! It's rare where they have a nachos section on the menu. Section? As in getting different ones? Yes, you can get all kinds of different nachos here which makes it a lot of fun and it's intriguing to see what kind of different spin on nachos you can get here. We split and shared the Fiesta Verde nachos which has corn, Oaxaca Cheddar sauce, cotija, green onions, sour cream, Queso Fresco and green sauce. They also are known for different kinds of corn dishes and baked potatoes. We continued to share with something off of their baked potato section and got the Dude which had a diced roasted chicken breast in a Chipotle-Lime-Honey Beef Consommé, cheese curds, cotija, shaved radish and green onions. The food was great and I really appreciated the menu being so unique. The atmosphere is cool too with all of the mirrored bubbles above the wall and front entrance. It's a really cool vibe and I recommend it.

Both the female and male staff members were friendly, attentive, and very efficient throughout our visit. Since I'm not a fan of alcohol, I chose a mocktail called "XXX," while others enjoyed the Wildside Punch Cocktail and other drinks. For food, we ordered the Queen Beans, The Marley, and Sweet Leaf Salad. Everything was fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. We finished with the tiramisu, which was absolutely delicious and the perfect ending to our meal. The atmosphere, service, and food all came together for a wonderful experience. I would definitely love to come back again!
