I've been to Bumpy's before and always had great service and a good time. Typical dive bar and on the weekends has great energy and a mix of every type of human that walks the earth. - I don't know what changed from a few months ago, but our "experience"" last weekend was awful. My daughter had just turned 21 and we wanted to take her out, so about 10 of us headed into Bumpy's. The second we walked in we were greeted with eyerolls and a very bi**hy attitude from the bartender. Before we could even order, she yells "We don't serve anyone with a vertical". Okay - well apparently you don't like tips then? In Washington you can't get your horizontal until AFTER you turn 21. So that means the day of your 21st - you're going to have a vertical and probably will have it for the next 3-6 weeks after. Initially they tried to tell us it's the law. WRONG. The only law is that the establishment has to check the birthdate and the photo. The staff at Bumpy's wanted no part of that - which, how lazy can you get?! Call me crazy but I don't think many kids with fakes are going to get a VERTICAL fake! Use your brains Bumpy's. If the liquor board is on your a$$ for serving minors - it's not because you're serving people with vertical IDs. It's because you aren't checking the birthdate and the photo on the HORIZONTAL ID to begin with - and you clearly don't own a scanner. Zero reason to greet customers so rudely. Just bad business all around. Too bad, too.. We're good tippers. That bartender could've made about $300 just off us. read more

My friend picked us up from the airport and practical joker he is, took us here for a drink. I should mention that it's my first time in the Seattle/Tacoma area other than driving along the coast from Canada to LA several years ago. This is a typical dive bar with regulars at the bar looking hazily at their libations. Soft rock played in the background and lots of high tops beside the bar. I was asked to order and picked out deviled eggs and nachos! How could you go wrong even if they were so so? Well, the joke was on our friend because they were delicious! The deviled eggs had bacon crumpled on top with sliced green onions and were served on a bed of greens! The nachos were well covered and must have been prepared in layers. Wow! Small place with excessive energy. Greeted kindly at the door by security! Plus, for anywhere serving adult drinks. I found a place to sit at the bar rail and was also severed quickly. After getting a menu people were telling me they have special written on the wall. It came down to the special. Ordered a chili cheese dog! Here I was expecting a kids hotdog with a little chili n cheese. Nope, you're going to have to see this massive meal big enough for two. The decor is definitely old school small hometown pub. I was lucky enough to come on Karaoke night too. Amazing performances by regular folks. Overall, this place was amazing and entertaining. I had a burger and tots. I can honestly say the burger was fantastic. Moist and delicious. The tots were on point. The bar itself has a nice hole in the wall vibe. They have their own merch. I just had the weirdest service I've ever had at this establishment. I first came to this place earlier in the night with several friends and had 1 drink and then towards the end of the night I came back with several friends as I was the one responsible for the ride, only for the security personnel in a light brown jacket tell me he wasn't sure to let me in because they thought I had been drinking heavily. Several security personnel were debating about letting me enter until they finally let me in. Keep in mind my friends went into the bar and were already ordering. I love dive bars and was pleasantly surprised to find myself at Bumpy's by accident. Free street and lot parking can be found. A 4% service fee is added to all credit card purchases so it's in your best interest to pay with cash. Bumpy's is small and was jammed packed during our visit on a Saturday afternoon. Positive signs. Bumpy's offers Happy Hour daily from 3pm-6pm. Food menu is basic bar grub at reasonable pricing. Full bar is available for those who imbibe in spirits/cocktails. Pull tabs are available for those who enjoy gambling. During our visit, my girlfriend slurped on a 20oz Mac & Jack and I on a 20oz Bohdi for $6 each. We each ordered crunchy beef tacos (qty 2) for $4 (hh). If you expect to be waited on, Bucky's may not be the right choice for you. All staff members were hustling their tails off and doing a fantastic job of it. Thank you Bumpy's for completing my day in Puyallup. 3 stars for food and an extra 2 for being a classic, home town dive bar! I was in Puyallup picking up some photo entries at the State Fair. Through some people I follow on other social networks, I heard of Bumpy's. In my work days, I always sought local places for meals that had been in business for years and had a strong local character. Bumpy's did not let me down in that regard. It was a Monday and mid-day. There was a pretty good crowd there, hanging out and essentially solving all the world's problems as one would expect in a local. The place has so much character (much of it politically incorrect, as I like a tav to have)! My large sandwich was OK, very hot off the grill hot as were the ample portion of seasoned fries. Tasty, but not knock my socks off great. I sat at the bar. The bartender, also a classic, gave me good service with just a little ration of sh^t (all in fun). I have never ever been treated so poorly in an establishment. I am a female mechanic and my co worker was over at my house just down the road helping me get the transmission out of my Jeep. I decided it would be fun to come to Bumpy's and have a quick drink and get then get back to business. So, we walk in and make our way to an opening at the bar counter just about mid way. We present our identifications (I am 35 and my co worker is in their 40's). My friend's Driver's License has "x" as the gender. Like whatever who cares. The bartender, Crystal, totally changed in demeanor but asked us what we wanted. I asked for a shot of Tito's and a Sprite back. My co worker asked for just a shot of Tito's. They have a speech impediment but they worked through it to place their order. Crystal couldn't hear them clearly enough so my friend repeated the order. Crystal flies off the bat and responds, "Are you drunk?!" My co worker says no because they're not. Anyway she goes to make the order. She returns with a shot of Tito's in those large tumble style shot glasses and then another small tumbler which I assumed was my drink and she had just mixed my Tito's with the Sprite. When she placed them down she walked away and I said to my friend, "I guess she mixed my shot with the Sprite, that's not how I wanted it. I wanted the shot separate so I could take it then take a sip of the sprite. Oh well it'll work." We grab what I assumed were both of our drinks and sat down at an empty table directly across from where we ordered. My friend picked up the non sprite shot and sniffed it to see if it was Tito's. Crystal literally yells across the bar and says, "I SAID HE COULDN'T HAVE ANY. YOU CANNOT SHARE YOUR DRINK WITH HIM I AM NOT SERVING HIM." #1 I am like instantly shocked at being yelled at that it takes me a second to process what is happening. If she did say she wasn't serving my friend neither of us heard her. All she asked when they placed their order was if they were drunk. Confusing their speech impediment for slurring I suppose. #2 Even if she had said it where we could hear it there was no reason for my friend to be "cut off" as we were both 100% sober. Like we just kept looking at each other like what is going on here???? Anyway, I asked why my friend wouldn't be allowed to have alcohol as they were not drunk at all. It was then it dawned on me that she did not get my drink incorrect. the drinks she placed down were JUST my order--my friends not included. But since I thought she was fulfilling both our orders I thought they were my friends order and that mine was mixed in one glass. It made sense now. Ok so I started seeing where the confusion had set in. I said, " I wasnt sharing I thought that was my friends drink and that mine was--" she interrupts me and accuses ME now of being drunk and says, "Im not doing this. You know what? Let me make it easier for you. I will refund your order and take your drinks back. She marches around the bar right up to our table and snatches the drinks away. At this point my friend just walks outside clearly upset. Im blown away at this point. I was so flustered I got up from the table and was walking out and the whole thing just felt so wrong and nasty. As I was walking out I said "My friend and I are NOT drunk. Also, my friend has a speech impediment I'm so shocked we're being treated this way." Crystal kept saying things like "You're drunk and you don't even know what you're talking about." Consistently cutting me off. I still left a large tip as I always do. As I'm walking out one of the male patrons decides he thinks I can be his punching bag too and shouts drunkenly "There's always Charlies across the street just go there" in a really rude way with a big demeaning smile on his face, I'm furious at this point because how could we possibly prove we were sober. I told the patron that I didnt need his go ahead to go ahead and and told him to F himself as I walked out and flipped him the bird. I was so mad at that point. I had to go back for my keys since i was so flustered I left them. We left and talked about it for a while after that just processing what the heck happened. I have been there many times before with a different sweet bartender lady and never had any issues. My wife and I recently bought a house a few blocks away and have popped into Bumpy's a few times and always enjoyed ourselves. However we will not be returning nor will my friends. I couldn't be more happy to spread the news of how awful this place treats people. Imagine my surprise as I scroll through the reviews and see Crystal's name as a repeat offender. Tons of 1 star reviews describing the exact same treatment and not just from Crystal but other staff as well. When 1 person complains about something you take it with a grain of salt---but when a BUNCH of people who have never met but state this treatment spanning a decade of reviews... the issue is clearly with the bar. read more

We met a couple in Las Vegas from Puyallup and our son just moved there. They recommended Bumpy's and it DID NOT DISAPPOINT! The food is amazing, we went 4 different times and had the tacos, pretzel sticks, pizza, two different kinds of burgers - all were fantastic. Crystal was amazing and friendly! Made us feel WELCOME!
