The South Sounder (hotdog) and Italian (sandwich)
    Lauren S.

This was the first stop on a little downtown Puyallup bar hopping date night and I've been eyeing it since I moved here over two years ago. So stoked to have been able to check it out! It's a smaller space, but it's inviting and friendly. Love that they also welcome kids and have a kids menu + drink offerings, too! One of their walls was painted as a Super Mario scene, which my Mario-obsessed five year old will LOVE (because we're def coming back). The staff was super nice as well, which is always a bonus. Food also came out quickly. My boyfriend had the Italian sandwich, which was a nice surprise at ordering because it's not on their website so we didn't even know that was an offering. I went with the South Sounder hotdog and loved it. It's basically their version of a Seattle Dog, from what I assume, as it has cream cheese, mustard, and onions. Caskcades is lowkey and fun and we will definitely be back and will aim to enjoy it in a longer, fuller capacity.

My boyfriend and I have been here twice and we have not been disappointed! We love their food as it is good for the price you pay for. I really want to stop by to try their drinks at some point, especially because they are gamer themed. They also have fun trivia events every so often and it was well organized. The space is on the smaller side but they have several tables and stools, so if you arrive at a good time then it's not too hard to grab a seat. They also have a small arcade for either solo or group play. Or if you prefer board games, they have several different kinds to check out and play. Service is always friendly and great too! I also know they are a family friendly spot too so kiddos are welcome too!

Fun event drinks. Bartenders and new management are a HOOT! Always a great space for chill music and great conversations. Cheers!

I have been here twice and both times have been amazing. First time I came in was October 13th when it was under the original owners, the bartender was very friendly and nice and even told me he hope see me back. I cam back in on November 24th under new owners same great friendly service just different bartenders and the who served me she was very friendly. First time I came I had the south sounder hot dog and it was very very tasty and flavorful, the second time around I got the Puyallup fair hot dog and I absolutely love the flavor combos and taste. The atmosphere both times was very friendly, warm and positive vibes from staff and customers alike, I for sure will be back to try the likes of sandwiches and other items on the menu. Definitely a spot to check out if you happen to be in the Puyallup area

Fantastic staff! Always great beers. Atmosphere is always welcoming and new management is amazing. All around a good time. See ya soon!

I died and went to heaven. What more you could ask for - brews, board games (as well as pinball/arcade games), and bodacious staff! Josh & Mike were helpful, gracious, and fun. Extensive tap list including cocktail menu, cooler cans, ciders, and wines. Can't vouch for the food yet but the menu has gourmet hot dogs, wings, sandwiches, and other various snackies. Puyallup has hit the jackpot to have this gem and we look forward to becoming regulars. Cheers!

We are here visiting from So. Cal and chose Caskcades based on the Yelp reviews. Excellent customer service and I tried the Captain PB&J hot dog. I don't typically like sweet food, and the waiter warned me that it was very sweet. So I ordered the crunch cereal on the side. But when combined with the natural saltiness of the all beef frank it was delicious. The crunch cereal added a crunch without adding too much sweetness. I combined this with a delicious Hefeweizen from a local brewery. The sweetness of beer paired well with the hot dog. Bonus...they had a 4 person Pac Man game as well as Touch Tunes...which just added to the ambiance and fun of the evening. We also ordered the pretzel and cheese sauce for an appetizer and it was delicious as well!

Payallup Dog and a Bad Baptist Porter, and a raging game of Pac Man for 4, which I won by the way!!! Lots of fun and good food and beer.

I love this place. Such a great atmosphere with friendly and knowledgeable staff. They take pride In their job, perfecting the food and the pours. Yesterday I tried to Puyallup Fair Hot Dog and it was simple, yet delicious. The rotating taps keep your tastebuds on your toes! Located in historic downtown Puyallup, I highly recommend.

Enjoyed our time at Caskcades and definitely see their vision on what they want to do with the place. Service was friendly. The server brought out some beer samples so I could try a few craft beers before I selected my choice. They had an extensive selection of craft taps which I appreciate. The menu is not a 'full' menu, mostly hot dogs and some meat/cheese style plates. The hotdogs were extremely tasty, I recommend adding a 2nd dog just so you can try the various flavors. I had the ring of Fire and the Shasta So-Cal, both with unique flavors.. The table situation can be a little difficult as they only had a couple of larger tables, where we sat they pushed 2 tables together but seating is definitely a premium. The owner did mention there was a purchase requirement to sit at the tables, but I never saw what those requirements were. Also it will get frustrating when 2 people take a 4 seat table, since larger dining tables are limited. The games are also pretty limited. 6-7 arcade stand up games (most were older, 2 were those 50 game cabinet ones) and 3 pin ball machines. They did have some card/board games, but this is not a place where you come to play arcade games. This is a place where you can come for a hot dog, a craft beer and enjoy a sporting event or a game or two on a arcade cabinet.

Trouble rating so ....... Craft Beer (not my thing but quite the selection!) Arcade games all about and an ATM and change machine present. Grandkid enjoyed playing while we waited for lunch. They got great hotdogs and a variety of tasty options. Mudslide was a hit with the grandkid Wife enjoyed the St Helens I devoured a Mt Shasta dog. The place was busy on a Saturday afternoon. As first time visitors it was a bit overwhelming with no real direction on table service, limited seating and a very cumbersome set up. Tables crammed together, 2 bar areas fenced off to keep the kiddos out and menus? Felt like waking into a overpacked house party ..standing room only. Couple tips.. 1. The buns have poppy seeds on them, they have a plain version of your child is picky about those things. 2. Watch your step walking in /out, there is a lip to trip on lol. I'd return, perhaps on a slower day...the hotdogs were pretty good.

We stopped by on Sunday as their happy hour looks great and this is one of very few places that serve a Jucy Lucy. I got the beef onion bisque while my boyfriend got the Jucy Lucy. The soup was super salty, I could barely eat it as it just felt like I was slurping salt. There was also barely any meat in there and just lots of onion. The bruschetta that came with it was nice. The Jucy Lucy was the star though and it was delicious. The fries that came with it as well as their fry sauce was absolutely amazing. The service was okay. It seemed not too busy and it seemed like there was a table ahead of us in terms of receiving their food but it took some time. I did ask the waitress for some lemons for my water but she forgot and they checked on us twice. She did drop off a huge bottle of water when she noticed my boyfriend's glass was half empty. The decor here felt like a modern-rustic feel and they had some great music playing. The lighting is an intimate dim where you can see everyone and where you are going. The bathrooms here was clean and organized. I wouldn't mind coming back to try other items and drinks but was disappointed with my soup.

Prisoners at Guantanamo Bay get better service than we received…read more I'll preface this by saying it was a packed house for a Seahawks playoff game--so yes, it was busy. That was entirely expected, especially for a rival game against the 49ers. Any competent business plans and staffs accordingly. We arrived and were seated at one of the last tables we had called ahead to reserve. After 30 minutes of watching our section server walk around taking orders and delivering food and drinks to other tables, I finally had to stop her just to ask for water and a menu. Her response was simply that it was really busy. Obviously. But even in a rush, checking in or dropping waters is the bare minimum. As a former server myself, a quick "Hey folks, we're running about X minutes on food, but I can grab drinks" goes a long way in managing expectations. After another 30 minutes, I gave up and went to the bar myself to get drinks. Once halftime hit, I decided to order food to go. That still took an hour, and we didn't receive it until there were about 10 minutes left in the game. To her credit, the server who took the to-go order (a different server) did let me know the kitchen was backed up and followed through--communication that was genuinely appreciated. Throughout the game, I had to return to the bar multiple times to refill our sodas and waters. Our assigned server continued to take orders and deliver food throughout the section, yet not once during the entire game did she stop at our table. Not once. Needless to say, it will be a cold day in Hades before we return. I could be crawling in hunger and would rather meet my maker than give this place another dollar of my money.

The second we walked in we were greeted with eyerolls and a very bi**hy attitude from the bartender. Before we could even order, she yells "We don't serve anyone with a vertical". Okay - well apparently you don't like tips then? In Washington you can't get your horizontal until AFTER you turn 21. So that means the day of your 21st - you're going to have a vertical and probably will have it for the next 3-6 weeks after. Initially they tried to tell us it's the law. WRONG. The only law is that the establishment has to check the birthdate and the photo. The staff at Bumpy's wanted no part of that - which, how lazy can you get?! Call me crazy but I don't think many kids with fakes are going to get a VERTICAL fake! Use your brains Bumpy's. That's what I picture when I hear speakeasy. A very intimate setting. However, this was completely opposite. It was bright, with a mishmash of decor. I wasn't sure if there was a theme. There were fake plants and a column/pillar with mirrors on it, an Amazon Forrest mural on the wall with televisions up on a couple. Felt like a sports bar. The tables and chairs were your average styled booths, that light-colored wood. It was sooooo cold inside. When we walked in, we were greeted by a nice young lady. She seemed to have a puzzled look on her face as to why we were there. My husband stated we had reservations. So now we were seated. Time to order. Looking over the menu, I see the pricing and was like "ok, a lil higher priced type of menu" I was down to give it a try. We ordered the calamari and zucchini chips for apps and then the butternut squash risotto with scallops (approx $30) for me and the brined chicken ($28) for my husband as well as a side of broccolini ($14). The apps came out first and I was honestly shocked. The calamari were so tiny and the zucchini looked like what they would serve in a bowling alley. Both dishes had the "mama lil's peppers" in it. I'm okay with the portion size but how are you charging $20 for calamari and $14 for the zucchini? Then we received our entrees. Again, we were looking for an elevated dining experience with the pricing of the food, to include presentation and all. I was disappointed to see the cheap cafeteria-like silverware and dish ware it was served on. Now understand the food was good. Not OMG WE ARE COMING BACK kinda good. But mid. Nothing wrong with that but the way they advertise is as if you are about to have a romantic, chill and classy dining experience. It's okay to be mid tier. I won't be mad about it. My dish was not butternut squash risotto, it was a mushroom risotto with 4 mid sized scallops. My husband's chicken was nicely seasoned and flavored and the mashed potatoes it came with, delish. He had caramelized carrots but some were straight black. Maybe a bit much heat. The broccolini was drowning in a cream sauce with onions and mama lil's peppers, slightly overcooked. Needless to say, it wasn't the dinner I was expecting, especially paying almost $200 for it. We did have a couple drinks and those were good. Customer service was on point. The staff were accommodating and helpful. I would kinda expect that since there were only us and another table in the dining room area. I had high hopes but sadly, not the vibe I was looking for. I've been to a fair share of a lil more upscale restaurants and this didn't hit that point for me personally. I think with lower prices and refraining from calling it a speakeasy, it could do well. Just my opinion. Oh they had a lil area for taking selfies available. Thank you for a nice date night with my hubby. We had a chance to have some one on one time together.
