Such a good dinner spot! The food here is hands down my favorite for tacos in the entire PNW. The service here is always the most friendly and kind, they make great food recommendations if you need them. We ordered the guacamole appetizer, I'd get this every time! We also ordered street tacos and a burrito. The barbacoa here is to die for. The interior of the restaurant is nice and clean and sleek but they add just the right touch of Mexican flair meets Tacoma with their giant glass heart sculptures! Love this spot. read more

Sunday evening visit... Guacamole is smooth and tasty. Served with beans that are smooth and so delicious... dare I say tastier than the guacamole?...everyone at the table loved both. This place really surprised me. When we entered (group of 5) there was no one else here except the staff. Staff was so nice btw, they even stayed open a little later for us to finish. The food was delicious, everyone ordered tacos and it happened to be taco Tuesday so we got a little discount on them which made us happy haha. We also got guac & chips! Very nice ambiance inside. Serviceable, but weird, with a few small things they could do to significantly improve the experience. The space is really strange. It's just a long tunnel with tables lining the sides. There are cute accent pieces here and there, but the ambiance would be much improved by putting something in the middle, whether adding more tables, staggering the tables on the wall, or even just putting decor like a fountain, anything to help break up the space and make it feel less like a retrofitted hallway. The first thing you see upon stepping in is the broken glass on the door, which was difficult to open and slammed shut behind us. There was no one at the host desk, so we watched the lone server slowly walk down the long restaurant to get us. It was quiet and awkward. The bar in the back is hardly a bar and more a quick service counter. The service was very slow, despite there only being 2 other guests in the restaurant. Our drinks - the sweet Isla Bonita and bitter Guava Margarita - were delicious, but the food took around 15-20min to arrive. When it did, the presentation was immaculate. My Hamburguesa Norteña was beautifully stacked and paired with absolutely massive potato wedges. But despite having the longest description on the menu, the hamburger was nothing special (what did I expect getting a hamburger at a Mexican restaurant?). My partner's tacos, on the other hand, were amazing. The steak was deceptively juicy, and she had a great time with them. A point also gets deducted for their Happy Hour. There's a sign out front, but nothing on the sign nor the menu indicates what this happy hour entails, and when asked, the server didn't offer any insight. Still, we were happy with the price, so we may have gotten a good deal. So, fixing the weirdness of the space, the speed of service, Happy Hour signage, and the taste of the burger would definitely elevate this experience. read more

Our group was going to a comedy show a few weekends ago and we wanted something uncomplicated to eat for dinner. We stumbled upon this place and luckily, they were not busy. I honestly don't remember anymore what we got. All I know is that the food was good. Some were a bit salty, but for the most part, the food was satisfactory! One feedback I have is I would love to have side dishes that can balance the saltiness and heaviness of their main dishes. read more

La Isabella is run by the same folks that have Indita Mia. I have been to Indita Mia once before and simply loved it so I was was excited to come here. And it didn't disappoint in the slightest. Excellent food all the way around! I had the Enchiladas Pobres which was a deep fried corn tortilla that was in a spicy salsa , stuffed with queso fresco, topped with onions, cilantro and sour cream. Ingredients were fresh and simply delicious. An amazing dish. For dessert we polished off by sharing both dessert options, the Tres Leches Cake and the flan. And both were fantastic. I am so glad I shared this with Steve because it was a tough choice to just pick one. Personally I don't think you can go wrong with any of the menu options here so you are bound to be in for a wonderful dining experience no matter what you choose off the menu. read more

I really like the restaurant. I had two kinds of tacos. 3 Tacos Was Way too much. I have a tremendous appetite and I must recommend that you never do more than two tacos. It's a fantastic restaurant. Carmen was my waitress. She had great advice and made the evening very memorable. I would totally go back there when I have more free time. There's a lot of things on the menu and pictures in the yelp pad that you should just pick it off the picture even though things weren't on the menu anymore from the pictures they made it for me anyway fantastic crew. I had not enough time to stay and had to put a rush on my order and they really did stop everything and the kitchen got to work for me so I could eat something before I had to go on my trip. I think it's a beautiful little restaurant. I know the owners put a lot of work into it. I think people take certain things for granted granted today, but when a business really tries their best and his customer service oriented or at least that's the way it sounds to me when I deal with someone like Carmen. Wow!! Excellent and might I add truly authentic Mexican restaurant. If you're expecting "American Mexican"food, not the place for you. Had the ENCHILADAS A LA DIABLA!! Amazing. The place is an unassuming "hole in the wall" in downtown Tacoma. In fact, you might not think to go in. Think again! The service was a 10, so attentive and friendly. 1st time to this restaurant in downtown Tacoma. Had the special of 3 tacos with rice/beans and a drink for $10.99. Great tasting food!The Pineapple w/mint Agua fresca was delicious and also included. I came across the restaurant's ad on Instagram for their new lunch service and special. 3 tacos, a side of rice and beans, and either an aqua fresca or horchata for $11, plus $5 margaritas. We went and add the most amazing lunch. The amount of food was amazing! The three tacos that I had tasted awesome and the pineapple mint aqua fresca was delicious! It was served in a very large glass with minimal ice! The rice and beans were served in a two vessels that looked like small pestles and we're so good. The interior is beautifully appointed with lots colors that work off the darker walls! I love this space and it's turning into my favorite lunch spot! read more

I'm having deja vu since this is the same owner's second? Third? Restaurant opening in Tacoma. Same style, same food, different price points, but basically the same experience. It's in the old Indita Mia location, and the sign is still up. The inside is exactly the same as it was with Indita Mia. This location has less food items but at more affordable prices, that's the only difference. read more

This place should be packed every night. Get there to enjoy it before that happens. Started off with the indita Mia cocktail. Perfectly balanced cocktail with mezcal and hibiscus with just a hint of heat. Ordered the burrito with asada, as I wanted to try both the guacamole and refried beans. I was so excited when it came in two parts on homemade tortilla! The jalapeño avocado salsa was a perfect complement. I'm here all week and will be back to try other dishes. My husbands & I are here from out of town. He was craving Mexican food. So I looked up on Yelp for a place to go. This restaurant had great reviews & since it was just up the street from where we were staying, made it an easy decision. There was a big party that was there before us. But the waitress did a great job at taking care of us quickly. We did not feel like it took extra long at all. I ordered the asada street tacos & a margarita. My husband ordered the chicken street tacos. THEY DID NOT DISAPPOINT!! They were so good. Tortillas were homemade. The meat was not dry & had great flavor. In town for business with an open lunch hour. What a great addition to the convention district. Once inside you will forget you are in Tacoma. The interior is tastefully designed and your senses are filled with the aromas of classic meats and sauces. The tight menu offers many classic Oaxaca dishes with well developed flavor profiles. A small bar offering provides several creative cocktails. The staff is genuinely friendly and knowledgable. We settled on the Tostada and Guacamole, Carne Asada Street Tacos and the Enchiladas Verde. If I hate to scan a QR code for a menu and there aren't even pictures, what's the point? I don't need a fancy menu, but a printed menu is nicer. We got the Skillet Smashed Fingerlings/potatoes appetizer to start, very delicious! My dinner companion got the Classic Smash Burger. She said the burger was great, and she knew there were going to be caramelized onions, but there was a lot packed in the middle of the patty. The novelty wore off quickly. She still said it was good overall. I ordered the Scarlet Rosemary (chicken and homemade pasta), and it was really good. The chicken was cooked perfectly and the sauce was fantastic, but the only problem was; there wasn't enough of it (sauce) and when the dish cooled as we ate, you couldn't taste the sauce much. About 7-10 minutes after getting our food, my friend took a bite of my pasta and said "I don't taste any flavor at all" and I realized I was mostly tasting the chicken at this point and I was sliding the pasta in the very small bit of sauce on the plate. I would suggest don't be stingy with the sauce because it was great. Otherwise the food was wonderful and we'll plan on going back.

This was the strongest alcohol I've ever had in a tiramisu cake. The environment has a unique vibe but the seating was not comfortable and the tables were very small.

She then stated that I had "tons of privilege" and directed me to leave the bar, including while I was standing near the door waiting for my friends. I asked, "Do you greet all of your customers that way." She then berated me and told me that she does if they just walk in and skip the line. I used no harsh language and proceeded to the front of the restaurant to wait for my friends who decided to cash out. Your staff member proceeded to continue to berate me and tell me I would be trespassed if I didn't leave the restaurant and stand in the rain. I did leave while she continued to scream at me. Since I did not have context for what you described a simple, "Hi, we seat at the bar here and this is someone else's seat" would have been a great way to greet me. Don't assume I had bad intent just because I was trying to patronize the establishment. I highly suggest you read your reviews and quit attacking your patrons. Based on what I have read you have a serious problem with staff behavior. You spend all of your time on here defending bad practices instead of improving your service. I am happy to say that I will never patronize your business. In addition you lost 14 other customers due to your actions. I was told I must have privilege just to walk in to meet my friends at a bar. You have a clear over inflated sense of self worth to assume your bar is so great that treating customers this way will keep you in business. Best of luck, and you are correct, a place where staff greet you by yelling at you is not a great fit for me. It likely isn't for others as well.
