First, the pizza was really good. That's about the only thing. The service was awful. The girl behind the bar was extremely rude. No one had a personality or a smile while working there. When I went up to the counter to order something, the server looked at me and said "Umm what's up?" In the snarkiest way, almost like I was disrupting her. While my family and I were eating, she came over and yelled at us that we needed to make a "clear pathway" for her to get around. There was one other table in the restaurant and a clear other pathway to get to them. Last, my husband went up to get a beer, and this same server was visibly eating at the counter and chewing/talking while taking his order. Completely unprofessional. This is a really neat bar tucked away in the heart of Tacoma! The service here is very good, and all staff that I have met are extremely nice and helpful. There are plenty of options on tap, and they even have a cooler for cans and bottles! Their pizzas are very gourmet and delicious, too! The only reason I gave 4 stars is because I feel like the price for food is a tad high, but the quality of the pizzas are excellent. It runs about $20+ for a 12" (ish) pie. I made a mistake and in hindsight it's exceedingly clear. I was calling this place State Street Pizza when in fact it's just called State Street. Now reviewing the website, I see the website is StateStreetBeer, confirming my experience. This is not a pizza place, it's a bar that serves pizza. Based on photos and reviews, I was expecting life changing pizza and ultimately found out this place is Basically MOD with a full bar. The pizza cook in under 5 minutes and ultimately taste that way. Some have complained about the wait, and I can confirm service is very slow. But when pizza takes about 3 minutes to cook, why am I waiting nearly 30 for my pie, especially when there were less than 10 patrons. Well, we sat at the bar, and I can tell you what we observed. It appears only 2 pizzas can cook at a time meaning about 24 pizzas an hour. The girl making the pizza, took great care, nothing was slopped, each topping was laid down 1 piece at a time. That said, the setup was not efficient. She could only make 3 pizzas at a time, that was all the counter would allow. So she would make 3, then wait for them to cook before staging 3 more. They also did pretzels, and they also cooked which meant one less pizza to cook or stage. The crust was dry and lacked any rustic flavor, more sauce would have helped the dryness, and a butter or garlic oil post bake would have infused some flavor crazy crust style. Speaking of which, Little C's was the worst excused for pizza growing up and I would have enjoyed their crust 10x better than this one. We don't drink, but the beer selection looked amazing. I can't tell one beer from another, but I saw more selection here than I have seen elsewhere. If you drink, I can recommend this place but I won't vouch for the Pizza. That said, my review only considered the pie. read more

I sometimes feel like my life might be 5 star reviews, but actually I call it like I see it. The pizza here was the absolute best. I have had other pizza in Tacoma that I found delicious but this place takes the cake. Austin please find out what makes them so much better than anything I have had there. Tonight I had the Margarita and the sausage and it was drop dead delicious. I also tried the potato but as good as it was, not my favorite. The surroundings were great and attached to my favorite coffee shop, Bluebeards. The ambience was really chill and the wait staff accommodated my young nieces as they played. Such a cute vibey little spot. The best pizza I've had since I've lived in Washington and I MEAN IT. The ingredients are so fresh and the Neapolitan style is spot on. very family friendly which I love, with some toys and games in the corner. This is a way over due review! We visited state street for the first time on 01.01.22 and were extremely impressed with the beer, food, and service! They make their own pizza & appetizers in house. We ordered burrata and the fish pizza but tasted extremely fresh and of high quality. I didn't get the chance to catch our servers name but the receipt says Scarlett so I hope that's it. She rocks! We watched her pour beer, cash customers out, and make the food all by herself with no help! Absolutely amazing, she didn't slow down once! The space has limited seating but still a cool place to get a quick bite or have a get together with friends. Parking is street side like most 6th ave businesses. I'd like to see more tables and maybe more plants to extend the motif from behind the bar. I'd also call it overpriced. The beer selection was questionable. Low variety, unhelpful labeling, served in a small glass, and all presented in such a way that I felt ignorant for not enjoying it, as if to say, "oh, you just wouldn't appreciate a good beer." Time from order to ready is pretty quick if they aren't busy because they are thin crust personal size so don't take more than a few minutes in the oven. The venue is swanky for Tacoma and pleasant. Not New York style Italian but Neapolitan style from Italy. They're not using a wood fired oven but you're NW palate isn't refined enough to notice. They're baking things with dough they make in-house -- the highest quality OO (double-O) flour. The finest of cheeses -- fresh mozzarella (not bagged and shredded crap from Sysco), fresh burrata!!, and even manchego on one of these pies! They're baking these babies at 942 degrees! I wanted to like this place because of the cute and appealing atmosphere. The customer service was nice and friendly. I ordered two pizzas and two ciders and was quickly disappointed however. After tip it was almost 80$! One pizza was gluten free and firstly it's a 4$ up charge for a pizza that is noticeably smaller than a regular. It also seems that gluten free pizzas may not be ordered here much because somehow it was burnt and raw at the same time. After a couple slices I became ill.
