My boyfriend and I came here after a comedy show nearby as many places were either closed or would close soon. As we arrived, we weren't sure if needed to seat ourselves but by the time we were about to look at a sign, a kind waitress let us know that we can seat ourselves anywhere and brought us menus. I saw that they had tables with fires which was really cool but unfortunately there were a lot of people sitting there so we just sat at the longer tables. The interior of this place is huge and bright! They have plenty of seating inside and it looks like they do outdoor seating which is dog friendly. We were told that they will have days where they have musicians playing German music and that it attracts quite a large crowd. Our waitress Sara was hilarious, personable and did a great job of taking care of us. She really made the visit all the more memorable and fun! We did order a lot: Berliner Platter with chips and spatzle, Berliner Sliders with fries and a bratzel. We did not realize just how huge the portions were for everything, like the platter was going to be big but we weren't expecting the amount of food for other order. Everything tasted absolutely amazing though! We really enjoyed everything and they do not mess around with flavors cause you taste exactly what they advertised. We went here for lunch with some friends and when we arrived it wasn't very busy so we got right in and the food came out fairly fast! Boy, did they get busy and unfortunately they had staff call out, so the only person working was busting her butt to ensure we were taken care of. They must treat their employees well, and if not, they should. There was a large party in the upper section and one of the guests was actually a staff member, who stepped in to help the other person. Talk about dedication! The food was good, beer equally as exciting and overall a good experience that I was expecting. I really liked my spicy sausage, it had great flavor. This place is good. I've only been here once before, but I need to keep it in my usual snack rotation because the food is bomb. Last week I had been feening for some sliders BAD. Cane here for a small get together for a birthday and did not know this place existed. The place is spacious and family friendly. I didn't expect so many families with small children dining here. This is a nice truly German beer garden. The food is good. We had a couple hamburgers. They were very tasty. Parking could be a little tough since you've gotta park on the street. Great place to get some delicious German beer and food. They have a good selection of German beers on tap, wine and mocktails. The dining area is spacious with booths and long tables. We ordered a bunch of food items to go along with our beer. The food: *Brätzel $13- huge soft pretzel baked and glazed with butter. It usually comes with salt sprinkled on but we had requested no salt. It came with beer cheese soup to dip. Thumbs up! *Landjäger/käse plate $18- cubes of 4 different types cheeses, slices of landjager ( cured pieces of sausage), pieces of sourdough bread, small dollop of sauerkraut, small pickles, mustard. We really liked this plate-perfect accompaniment to the drinks. *Schweinshaxe $26- braised ham hock. Super tender and tasty-good sized portion that can be shared. Came with salad too. A great German style beer hall type pub in Tacoma. Arrived on the weekend before a lunch rush crowd started to come in. Lots of seating available and plenty of tvs to watch sports. Sat at the bar area that surrounded a fire pit and was very comfortable. The food was excellent with a sampler of all types of German sausage and brats. Finally had the chance to try Berliner Beerhall after hearing rave reviews, it did not disappoint! Berliner Beerhall is right off Pacific in downtown Tacoma, parking can be tough- my only negative. Tons of tables, great for large parties. Fantastic alcohol menu- I opted for a Cab, not huge on beer- but huge selection in giant German mugs. Undeniable community, good food, generous drinks, and just enough inconvenience to leave me undecided. Throughout the night, servers brought us the wrong drinks and dishes, and tried to bring our food to the wrong table. According to them, the tables got mixed up in their system - when we finally ordered, our server even prefaced that they'd try not to combine it with another table. At the end, our server had to rebuild our order at the table, and for some reason it took a full 3 minutes of them awkwardly standing there repeatedly asking us what we'd ordered as they typed it into their device. The place was also packed and boisterous. It was fun to see the liveliness of a Beerhall with long shared tables, patrons joking with the staff, and plenty of piles of French fries and sausages being brought about. I saw one guy wandering around the restaurant with a full sausage speared on his fork, taking bites as he fraternized. That said, it was incredibly loud. The space is open, so all sound echoes. On a Wednesday night, it also turned out to be Trivia Night, so when the host came on the mic, it got even louder. We were seated on the second level, which was better, but we still struggled to hear each other. Again, I appreciated the community, but the volume got grating pretty quickly. The food was great. I got the Smoked Cheese sausage, which came with a delicious garlic bread bun and sauerkraut, with a heaping portion of French fries on the side. What a thrill! I cant say enough about the food. You cant find this food anywhere. My grandparents would have been delighted.

We tried to call and make a reservation for V day. No one called us back. So we went anyway and went earlier before it got busy. Had delightful servers today!! It was taking awhile cause I think they were prepping for a big dinner rush. But we were ok with that. Haha we ended up getting a nice salad for free while we waited. We shared a Cesar yummm! I ordered a Schnitzle and hubby ordered a Shweine Haxen. The skin was sooo perfect and crispy!! Just like in Germany! And very meaty too. Hubby didn't like the sauerkraut much. He likes mine better. This was my first time at this place. Me and two other friends came for lunch - around 12:30 - and decided to give the beerhall a try. And for the most part, it was pretty good. Food was tasty - sausage could have had a little more to it, but as a base sausage, no complaints and quite nice - and there were plentiful portions. While I didn't drink, one friend did and said that the rose cider really exceeded his expectations. The only two things that I'd say is that it is a little on the slow side, service-wise. I'm not sure if they're understaffed - though they had plenty of people hanging out at the kitchen window - but even at lunch, with less than a quarter of the tables occupied, it could take a little bit to get someone to come over. If you're there for dinner, it might be worse, based on some of the other reviews. Food's worth it if you're not in a hurry, though. The other thing is that it IS a bit pricey for what it is. Sausage, cheese, and bread feels like it shouldn't be quite so high a price per plate (starting at $15 and going up to $28) as it can be, so it's a bit more of a treat place for me. Again, it's good, but not a place I can justify going to very often. With those two caveats in mind, the hall is a comfortable place, well heated, and the staff really are as friendly as you can ask for. read more

Great Schnitzel, great fries, great pretzels, great beers, awesome cocktails, great service... all around awesome. The atmosphere with the long communal tables, the fire pit is super cool, a bit loud, but industrial cool. I'm honestly not sure about the neighborhood, got in and out before dark, glad they got a small parking lot in the back, so you don't have to walk far. There are so many good looking dishes and cocktails, I'm going to have to make an effort to go back periodically so I can try everything! I had the "German Mac n' Cheese" and it was delicious! Six adults and one young child came here for dinner for the first time. Parking is hard to find, but it's on Court A Street. The store is unexpectedly spacious, and there are seats on the first and second floors. We all sat on the first floor with a long table. The staff at the restaurant are pleasant and the service is good. We each ordered our favorite beer. There are so many beverage selections that I can't decide. And we ordered corn dogs, pommese with curry ketchup, weiner schnitzel, rahmschnitzel, mini pork shanks, and jager schnitzel. My husband and I shared a mini pork shanks, and it was a satisfactory amount. The main dish comes with a salad, and the salad is very delicious. There are three mini pork shanks, blackberry and rum, and horseradish glaze is good harmony flavor. Homemade warm potato salad comes with this dish and so good! I don't know how other people's food was, but it seems like they couldn't finish it. I don't know how other people's food was. But it looked delicious. Stopped in here for dinner. Inside it's a very beautiful restaurant with picnic tables and a fire pit. Our waitress was great. Looks like just her and the bartender were running the entire show and food and drinks came out fast. We ordered the platter that came with 5 different sausages, 2 sides, sauerkraut, etc. this plate could easily serve 4 people and we had a lot of leftovers. Overall the food was great. I didn't really care for the chicken sausage or the warm potato salad but that was just my preference. Will definitely go again. As for the food, it was my first time in and I'll definitely be back to exploring the rest of the menu. The pretzel is "to die for" . Buttery, warm, and traditional condiments. The meals were also delicious. It may have been the dish I ordered but the one thing that merits attention is the sauerkraut.
