What a neat place! It's right in Pacific Avenue in the heart of downtown Tacoma but it's kind of tucked away.. I frequent the area but never realized what a gem this place was! The staff is welcoming, friendly, helpful, and efficient! The inside is so cozy and warm and there is a game room in the back! They have darts, a golf game, air hockey, and a pool table Their beer selection is decent and their menu is the perfect size - there are a handful of options for each category (burgers, sandwiches, apps, and tacos). I ordered the bacon cheeseburger and side of potato salad and let me tell you: the burger was so good! Very worth it. And the potato salad was so good I almost ordered a huge tub of it to go - it's homemade with chunks of potato in it and all the right seasonings. I will make my way back to Meconi's as much as I can thank you! read more

The service was phenomenal! A Tuesday night, heading to a concert and most of the Tacoma restaurants were closed. Meconi's is not normally open but they asked for volunteers to staff the restaurant because they knew there was a concert. One bartender and one cook working their a$$es off with a smile. Impressive. On top of that, the blue burger was delicious and the chicken Caesar salad was fresh and delicious. It was a fun sports bar environment. Stopped in for a bite before a movie and had a really good meal! We have been here before but only for apps and drinks. I had the pub burger and garlic parm tots. And loved loved loved the tots! My husband had the fish and chips and thought it was perfect! Our server was very nice and made sure we had everything we needed. It is pretty noisy but, then again, it is more bar than restaurant so I expected that. Next time I would like to order some apps and drinks and sit in the window the people watch. read more

I was at the arcade before this and coming into Meconi's was like walking into the 21+ only area of the arcade. We had so much fun playing air hockey and pool! It's $1 for each and they also have a dart board. After hearing some haunted Tacoma stories I felt for sure this would be an interesting place. I checked out their website and read their "about us" section where they mention an underground tunnel. You can't see it from anywhere inside but the history of the building is still very cool. We ordered a few beers and had a fun time playing games. I didn't see any ghosts, but I was also too distracted losing at air hockey... and pool. We stopped in on a rainy Friday prior to seeing Kim's Convenience. We know we wanted to grab a quick bite somewhere down on the north end of Pacific. We settled on Meconi's because it was easy to get a seat (we were operating under a time constraint). We ordered an Italian sub, fish and chips, T town cheeseburger, and a western burger. We added a Diet Coke, martini, founders porter, and an airways jumbo juice IPA. Our server was super friendly and greeted us right away. The founders porter is fantastic. Maybe a little heavy to accompany a sub, but it's hard to pass on a good porter. The jumbo juice was super citrusy and fresh. The food came out very fast. Ok. The fries are very good. Surprisingly good. The sub was good. The bread is thick which can force the meat and cheese to slide out. The fish was flaky and crisp. Both burgers were good. Meconi's is a great place to stop in and we'll be back. read more

I've been here a handful of times. The parking here is on street, there is a back alley and back streets to park on, but it's not always a great situation just because it's a small bar next to lots of other popular bars. The first few times I've been here, I just met with friends for a drink or two. Ordered simple drinks such as gin and tonic, gin and juice and crown w/ ginger ale. Service was good, drinks came fast and the pours were good. The last time I came here, my boyfriend and I split the meatball sandwich (YUM! Sauce and meatballs made in house) we got tater tots as a side. Food was spot on. Our bartender happened to be Sara (no H) who is also the bars manager. Such a dope person, very friendly and engaging. We talked about Tattoos, pets/cats and menu item. I drank a gin and tonic and then Sara made me a Black Opal because I'd never experience one (27 yrs of age). Both drinks were perfect, sara makes a fantastic Black Opal. My boyfriend drank crown w/ pineapple back. Overall, it's a chill place. I did use the restroom and it was clean and stocked, can't ask for anything more. Try this place out yall. read more

The best place to grab a Mushroom Burger and a Philly Cheesesteak (Nathan's style) in this area. I've been here a handful of times and I always generally get the same thing. It is a very chill location that actually offers delicious food. Came in on a Saturday afternoon to grab some food. We were treated well and our guy checked in on us a few times while we ate. Their mushroom burger is honestly one of the best Mushroom burgers I've had. It juicy and full of flavors. This time however the meat was a bit over cooked. This is the first item I would highly recommended people to try this from their menu. Last time I was in, I brought my friends from LA here. I was introduced by the bartender to try to Philly Cheesesteak but with his style. I believe he adds salami in it (Nathan's Style). Super super good. My friend from LA (who's a foodie) said it's one of the best Philly cheesesteak he has had. This time I was introduced to try the garlic seasoned tater tots! Oh my, it was super yummy. First off, the bartenders all head down to the Matador during their shifts and take shots and get drunk, which is against Washington State law. Dave Meconi, this review is for you. Heaven apparently was drunk the last time I was in there and decided to "86" me after giving us crummy service resulting in her tip being sound advice: "If you want a tip, try not to be a bitch." "S" and "C" also leave the bar unattended to go take shots and get drunk during their shifts. There is a regular customer who brings cocaine to the establishment and the kitchen staff is most likely on mushrooms on a regular basis. I will never go in there again. The food is mediocre and the overpriced drinks are weak and are served with nothing but drama. read more

Good place to get a drink downtown Tacoma. Meconi's is a clean sports bar with exceptional waitress service - these girls are attentive and very good at working with groups. Only gripes are: 1) Liquor pours are pretty weak. I'd stay longer and come more often if they weren't. 2) ONE single bathroom? This = no bathroom trips with your girlfriend. Ugh, we only went here because the wait at the Matador was an hour on Saturday night and we were starving. First of all, I will give them that the ambiance and the drinks are cool but the service and the food is GROSS. I would come here for drinks, if everything else was too crowded on Pac Ave... lol. Boyfriend got the fish and chips and the fish was microwaved and was soggy... His coleslaw tasted like vinegar?? We straight up told the waitress it was nasty and she just kinda shrugged and asked if we wanted anything else and then walked away and proceeded to talk loudly / obnoxiously with the other waitresses by the bar. If I was her I still would have at least refreshed our drinks or tried to bring something out to make our experience better because we were obviously not pleased... But she did nothing. I had "The Parm" which was a chicken parmesan sandwich. It was blah. The bread was soggy, there was hardly any sauce on the sandwich and my sweet potato fries were very soggy. Our meal cost $35 with two entrees, a vodka soda, and a Mr. Pibb... Pretty expensive and for the quality of food?? Disappointing. I mean I know we shouldn't have been expecting too much based on prior yelp reviews but still. Always consistent and good. We've tried a couple of the salads, the wings, burgers, and sandwiches. All very good. Their sandwich rolls are to die for. Definitely a favorite of mine. This is our first time coming to this establishment. We were looking for a happy hour before going to the Trevor Noah show at the Tacoma Dome. This looked like a good place to go. We got lucky! Good variety of beers at a good price. The service was top notch and very friendly! We ordered garlic fries and were surprised to get a huge basket of some of the best fries we've ever had! Good beer and fun atmosphere. The food is okay, mostly bar food but they make a good Italian sub and hummus plate. The beer is where it's at. A good selection - 18 taps and a good selection. The atmosphere is great , old building with lots of historical pictures and some pretty cool airplane models hanging from the ceiling. I have been coming here for a few years now and the staff has undergone some changes (for the better recently). There are some core employees that are great. It's really nice in the warmer months to sit out on the patio drink a cold beer and people watch. read more

This is a decent place for lunch. Fish tacos are excellent. The pizza was very good too. The staff we met were a little different but that is okay. The greeter/order taker was not very knowledgable regarding the local beer choices. Whomever she was checking with in the back was no help. Come for the beer and...stick with the beer. It should have been apparent that this is not the place to go on a Friday night when all the places around it were packed with hour long waits and Meconi's had LOTS of tables available. We ordered the fish and chips (also came with cole slaw) and the western burger. The fish and chips were pretty good. The cole slaw was mediocre. The burger...terrible. The undersized patty came on an oversized, albino bun and was dripping with grease and flaccid bacon (I love a greasy burger--but this was not a tasty greasy burger + who wants flaccid bacon on a burger?!?). Also, how do you get a patty overcooked on one edge and rare on the other? Atmosphere: mediocre. There was one decently sized television and a few other small ones. It was hard to get a good view of a television from my seat. Service: no complaints. Server was attentive without being overbearing. Plus: the beer selection is pretty damn good. They had a variety of beers on tap and, when they ran out of one of the beers we were drinking, they were able to recommend a comparable beer. So hang out and have a beer--but do so after having dinner elsewhere! read more

The food was great, the waitress was not. She was new and admitted she was new which normally is not an issue. I can be patient normally. The problem is that she used being new as an excuse to give poor service. She didn't know the menu well and instead of being super nice and saying "let me find out for you" she just said "I don't know" and left it at that. There was some confusion about a cider that is in their online menu and somehow we ended up coming off like the jerks.
