Came in on a Sunday eve... jonsin' for fried chicken n Wedge salad!! We split everything and still went home with half of the Wedge! Today must have been fresh oil day too. I had a great time at Loose Wheel tonight! It isn't the first place I think of when I'm looking for a salad, particularly a vegetarian salad, but I saw that they had a tree hugger salad and it had tons of veggies on it! In addition, it also had black beans, which I so appreciate! So, we stopped in. My margarita was great, my salad was fantastic. I got a large size just so I would have some to take home. I liked both the garlic balsamic vinaigrette and the blue cheese. My salad came with a choice of bread and I chose a biscuit. I haven't had a biscuit in ages! Wow! It was delicious! This place would be great for breakfast. My partner had the chicken strips and tater tots and he ate the whole thing. He said it was delicious. Again, I want to acknowledge the service we had. I wish I knew the name of the woman who was waiting on us, but she was short like me and cute as a button. Her shift was ending shortly and she was working the morning breakfast shift. The service here is generally good, and their drinks are delicious. They have a multitude of TV's that will keep any sports enthusiast happy. ( man in anti-trans t-shirt; some LBGTQ+ but mostly straight. Not all welcoming to gays. Good food & service. But looking for more inclusive sports bar. read more

Everything here is always good, the daily specials make an affordable option to eat out and not break the bank. My personal favorite is the fried chicken. You have to try the soups too. Carrots, celery and pinions in the soup were still very crunchy. Then I was told by the server that there was no ice burg lettuce but she could make the salad with romaine lettuce. Loose Wheel is a classic sports bar in Tacoma (and Puyallup). I wouldn't say it's a full on "dive bar" but there isn't much class in there. The servers, bartenders, and cooks are always so friendly and nice! When it isn't game day (of any sport) it's pretty quiet but when it is it's crowded and loud. Their beer selection isn't the best but it's pretty darn good. 6. Daily specials are so worth it. 7. They have always had a really fun outdoor space. And it's been even more fun due to covid. Now this is a bar with pull tabs and locals. My recommendation came from my BECU associate who knows Tacoma. My hubby and I came to watch both of the Huskies games and it was such a great time.... And great food & drink!!! Best fries... hands down, great pizza, great wings, great drinks and even better service. Very clean bathrooms (that is the test...) and they had purple Husky swag, a Las Vegas giveaway, and big screens AND sound on, to watch the game. We will be back. I called around 2 to see what the business was like with it being football Sunday. It was busy, I get that. However, the girl on the phone was very dismissive and kind of rude saying "well just call back closer to the time you want to pick up, it won't take that long." So I did. She was right, it wasn't long, thankfully. I would've waited the extra five minutes for hot fries though.. The real issue.. I paid $20 for a wrap with fries and this is what I was given. The wrap itself looks fine (update: huge piece of fat in the wrap and steak was ice cold) but I would've at least like to have a decent amount of fries. If I wasn't getting this while on my lunch break I would've definitely sent this back and/or left. So my family loved eating here, we'd come every Wednesday with a bunch of others, and we've celebrated multiple birthdays here just because we loved the food. Well since our last visit, this past Sat, we most likely won't be back. I guess they have a new kitcen manager, well I don't know what all he changed back there but he needs to do some thinking.. I always order the Club , French fries, and deep fried mushrooms. I have hunted for df mushrooms all over Tacoma (Burien is just to far of a drive just for deep fried mushrooms) and The wheel was a fabulous replacement. This last time, there was something so different about the texture and flavor, that I only ate less then half (normally I eat the whole basket). Move on to my sandwich being delivered, looked the same, not sure what ingredient they changed to but the sandwich just wasn't tasting right either, and to then change the fries, from seasoned to plain. Even my husband and daughter had mentioned how things tasted different. When you got something good going for ya, don't go changing things. Very disappointed, in the Tacoma location. We'll give the Puyallup one a try, hope they're better. Tacoma we won't be returning. read more

We were starving for lunch and needed something close to hwy 16. So we landed at the loose wheel. It was a little awkward going in because of their weird front "desk" with a huge sign that told us to wait there. It took a few minutes for anyone to come show us to a table. Typically in a dive bar I expect to be able to walk in an find a seat. We were seated and orders two drinks. They took a few minutes despite the fact that they were not at all busy. But they were decent and came in clean glasses. We ordered the mushrooms and a pizza. A few minutes later we were informed they were out of mushrooms (really?). Our second drinks came right before our pizza and the waitress took our original glasses but neglected to see that she also took our straws. We were unable I flag anyone down so my fiancé had to hunt them down himself. The pizza was ok. The crust was good but the toppings sloppy. Nothing exciting about it and I don't think I'd go again.
