Wow! Beautiful venue, delicious food with presentation, excellent service and a water view. Rachel, our waitress was engaging, patient with us as we were first time visitors, answering our questions, making recommendations and overall helping to make our meal extra special. Food was excellent, our table of 4 had the crab stuffed mushrooms as an appetizer. We ordered Salmon, prime rib, New York steak and shrimp. It was plated and tasted as good if not better than it looked. We each ordered a different drink off the bar menu and they were tasty and had their own " personality ". It was my husbands birthday, we had friends visiting from out of state and it was a great meal and memory we shared. Parking was a little confusing but we figured it out and next time we will know our way a little better. We needed a restaurant like this! read more

Walking in we are immediately greeted and asked if we would prefer indoor or outdoor seating on the deck. Menus are provided and I asked for a Mai tai. I've never had a mai tai with pineapple whipped cream before... yea, I'll need another one of these. The cup of chowder is very different. It had bacon pieces on top and some shredded cheese. This is packed full of ingredients and more resembles a stew as it is so thick with ingredients. Bacon, celery, potatoes, clam.... and the cheese does add something unique to the flavor. I love it! This is smooth and creamy. They're also not afraid to add some salty seasonings, not too much, but for me, the perfect amount to round out the flavor. The Philly Cheesesteak just showed up. I asked for regular fries as I don't care for pickles. No problem. This Philly made my glasses steam up. This sandwich is so moist and flavorful, definitely a two hand job. The seasoning is perfect for beef. This also comes with an Au Jus, but this sandwich is so moist it isn't needed. This is a nice stop. The staff is pleasant and is always checking on us. The tables and floors are clean and the view is great. read more

My husband and I finally gave Char Kitchen a try today for lunch since I had the day off and boy did it not disappoint one bit. To start I got a maraschino cherry spritz and my husband got a lovely smoky old fashioned. For our appetizer we did the seafood stuffed shrooms and these were KILLER. So good. Perfectly light creamy sauce that we soaked up with our bread and even dipped some of my husband's house made chips in (delicious). The seafood was flavorful and rich. We only ate one each as we knew we they'd fill us up before our entrees and we figured they'd make a great leftover in the air fryer for Friday snacks. For my entree I asked the waitress if she preferred the ahi tuna salad or the salmon aglio e olio and she very enthusiastically recommended the salmon. She was so right. It was perfectly flaky, crispy broil and amazing flavor. Really great pasta that was light and didn't make me feel like I needed a nap after a few bites of it. The weird side star of this show was the simple arugula salad though - super light but massively flavorful dressing. That's all that was to the salad but it was divine. I had a ton of leftovers for later as well, great serving sizes. My husband's burger won the show though. He got the lunchbox legend burger which was ground prime rib/chuck/flank patty with pepper jack, bacon, chipotle blackberry jam, and peanut sauce. Messy. Gooey. Delicious. My husband noted it was one of the best burgers he has had in Kitsap and we love our burgers so that says a lot! I loved the add of the peanut sauce especially. Perfect day to sit on the patio and 10/10 flavors across the board. We will definitely be back. read more

I had high expectations coming into this restaurant, which can sometimes be a downfall. The decor was a bit odd for my taste -- a little too much red throughout the space. Red is such a subjective color, personally it doesn't create the most relaxing atmosphere. That said, the wall-to-wall windows gave the restaurant a beautiful view and helped brighten the space considerably. We had a reservation and were a little surprised to see outside seating, especially since we weren't given the option when booking or asked if we preferred a window table. One thing I absolutely appreciated was how incredibly clean everything was. The music level was also perfect -- present enough to add ambiance without being overwhelming. The standout of the meal was definitely the chowder. Honestly, I'd describe it more as a hybrid between a bisque and a chowder. When I think chowder, I picture thick potatoes and hearty seafood, but this was much smoother and creamier with just a few bits of seafood and maybe celery throughout. While it wasn't what I expected, it was absolutely delicious. And I will certainly order the next time I am here. My partner ordered the prime rib, which had an amazing smoky flavor and was probably the best entrée at the table. I had the New York steak, which unfortunately I probably wouldn't order again. I asked for medium rare and it came out closer to medium. The hollandaise sauce helped elevate it, but in my opinion a steak should stand on its own without needing the sauce to carry it. Potato confit was bland, probably would be better if used some duck fat and basic salt. I can't really speak for the cocktails, but I did try the Sucker Punch mocktail and it was delicious. Service was friendly overall, though it did feel a bit rushed toward the end of the meal. We were asked if we wanted anything boxed up while we were still actively eating, and I had literally just taken a bite when my plate was almost taken away. It felt unnecessary and took away from the relaxed dining experience. Overall, the restaurant was still good enough that I'm willing to give it a second shot. Maybe this was just an off night. read more

This has to be one of my absolute favorite places I have been to in a long while. I came here after doing a solo birthday hike. Parking/entrance- let's get this out of the way. It's not easy to navigate but you do it once, you'll be fine from there on out. I would suggest parking in the garage and then once you leave the garage exit left and follow the signs to the lobby entrance. Once you're in the lobby, you'll be able to take the elevator all the way up. The staff- The customer service was fantastic. I sat at the bar area. I came shortly after opening so lots of open seating and options. It was fun chatting with the bar tender and the Bar manager who were not only personable but excellent recommendations. The ambiance is perfect for all occasions. You can do casual, business meeting lunch, date night, upscale cocktail lounge or friend meetup. This place can do it all. The food was delicious. Don't take my word for it, look at my photos. There was not a bad dish that I tried! Salmon cooked to perfection and that dessert.... OMG... so good. The drinks were fantastic. I liked them all and was able to venture into some new tries. I definitely plan to come back when I'm in the Bremerton area. In fact, I may just drive to Bremerton to come back. Excellent work Char Kitchen team!! read more

The entrance is not easy to find. Park in the parking garage (you can get validation) and when you follow the sign to exit on the left, go right. You have to go to the lobby entrance of that hotel/condo and either take the stairs or elevator up. Great lively atmosphere with TVs and music. Open kitchen concept which I like. We were seated right away, and our server was amazing! A great wine/cocktail and nonalcoholic menu. The menu options are very creative. I can't wait to go back and try more entrées. We ordered burgers but upgraded our sides. All of the burgers came with house-made kettle chips, but they have other options you can upgrade too. I feel like that's where the price got a little high. We were not made aware of how much extra it would be but also we did not ask. My pickled fries were absolutely delicious and I would get those again. That was an extra $5. My husband substituted for confit potatoes, which were good but an extra $9 but not worth that price. Lesson learned. Hands down delicious burgers!!! Mine was supposed to be chicken but they were out so I had a beef patty. I don't feel like I missed out anything. I am not someone that loves old fashions but I tasted my friends and immediately ordered one. I loved it! The deserts were great! That chocolate bomb was a great surprise and I would definitely order that again. It had a lot of flavors going on but it wall worked well together. Is it worth the drive?...yes read more

I feel the need to first say that I messaged this place through their website option and never received a reply. So if you have any questions, call! And Owner/Manager: if you're not gonna' check for messages, remove it from your website! My wife and I had never been here before, so we came for dinner for my birthday. First off, we had read so many weird comments about parking in the lot beneath the building where the restaurant is located, that we decided to park on the street. It's a short walk to the restaurant...with free street parking on weekends, so no big deal. We began dinner with cups of Ol' Redclaw's Chowder ($9 ea.) and cocktails. The chowder was thick and delicious topped with cheddar and bacon. But while the online menu sites an assortment of seafood in the chowder, we found only clams. For cocktails, my wife had the Spicy Pear Margarita, which she said was just O.K. I had the just slightly spicy Fiery Garden Martini ($15), which I enjoyed. Online menu says my wife's drink is $13, but we were charged $15. What's the story, restaurant staff? Menu need updating? For dinner, my wife had the Vodka and Beer Battered Halibut ($39) which came with slaw and fries. pretty pricey for fish & chips, but the crispy halibut was incredible! And the fries were excellent. But a suggestion for the chef: DON'T PUT RUNNY, JUICY SLAW ON THE PLATE WITH THE FISH AND CHIPS; MADE EVERYTHING RATHER SOGGY!! Please put it in a small bowl on the side. I had the Smoke 'N Fire NY Strip ($34), tender and sliced with a hollandaise sauce (that was impossible to discern), delicious charred broccolini, and the very unusual confit potatoes. I loved those potatoes, but they're too hard to describe. Like giant fries that are layered. So just try them for yourself! With dinner we had a bottle of Greenwing Pinot Noir from a new Oregon producer. It was really outstanding and at a most reasonable price of $29, which is barely above wholesale cost. Finally, Char was gracious enough to provide us with a huge slice of Caramel Banana Cheesecake for dessert...no charge for my birthday. Thank you so much!! I want to mention too that our server, Alix did an outstanding job. She was courteous, fun to talk with, and made sure we were well cared for. Great job, Alix!! With tip, total bill was around $200. Not a frequent dinner option for us, but we WILL return for sure. read more

Very nice experience, food is very good, staff is welcoming, friendly and attentive. The restaurant is part of a building, hotel and parking structure- so think concrete but decorated. Nice full bar, nice window tables and outside eating with views of the marina. Our food was really great. The chowder was delicious, a wee bit salty for me but not hubby, and chock full of clams, potato, celery and creamy. Bacon adds to it. Veggie sides well prepared. Food is satisfying. The location alone is kind of a hidden gem, really beautiful with gorgeous views, and the inside has this super unique, funky vibe. It's like a mix between a bar, an upscale cocktail lounge, and a really solid date night spot. Service was honestly fantastic, friendly, attentive, and everything came out surprisingly fast. You can tell they're still finding their stride a bit in terms of flow, but it didn't take away from the experience at all. And most importantly... the FOOD. So good. Everything we had was genuinely delicious. As someone who eats gluten free, I really appreciated how many options there were (and they've got great vegan options too), but there's truly something for everyone on the menu. Also love that they're open later, feels like something our area has been missing. Definitely worth checking out if you haven't been yet! read more

Visit: Thursday May 7th, 2026 My very pregnant cousin wanted to try Char Kitchen, so we decided to meet at 11am. We had never been here before and we were excited to try it. For starters, it was very confusing finding the restaurant. There was a single a-frame on the corner of Washington Ave & Second St but no other signs (that I saw). I walked in circles, up and down stairs to try to find my way to no avail. I was walking around for 30 minutes before giving up and I finally had to call the restaurant for directions! There needs to be additional signage for patrons to find their way. Now, my cousin and her husband were actually there at 11 and ordered their food when they were seated because her husband only had an hour for lunch before needing to return to work. I arrive 30 minutes late since I couldn't find the restaurant, and their food still wasn't served! She asked the waitress for her husbands food to be boxed up to go since it took so long and instead of them boxing it up in the kitchen, she brought the plate and the box for him to do it himself. I thought that was extremely lazy of the waitress. They already waited 20+ minutes for his food and they couldn't even box it up for him. Note: her food did not come out with his. She was still waiting for her meal. I ordered when his plate was dropped off and I got the same thing as my cousin: Smoke n Fire NY Strip ($33.00) 8oz cold smoked and charbroiled steak, five-pepper hollandaise, confit potatoes, and charred broccolini. The waitress puts in my order and returns with my drinks and lets my cousin know they over cooked her medium rare steak so they are remaking it and our steaks will be cooked at the same time so our meal will come out together. So why did I get my plate dropped off 2 minutes later and my cousins food was STILL no where to be found?? I assume they gave me her overcooked steak and then were still cooking hers. I find it unacceptable that she waited nearly 45 minutes to get her food, as a customer but especially as a pregnant woman. The plate presentation was beautiful. They did a great job on plating, and the steak was good! I don't think the five-pepper hollandaise really added anything flavor wise but the pop of color on the plate is needed- I just wish it didn't look like baby food. The confit potatoes were okay, but I think a classic mashed potatoes would've been better. I did not care for the broccolini at all and left it on the plate, which says a lot because I love broccoli & broccolini. So that was disappointing. All in all: location is hard to find for the first time. Staff is nice. Kitchen makes mistakes and is slow. Food presentation is beautiful. Waitress didn't ask for parking validation. I'm not sure if I would return to this restaurant on my own volition any time soon, but I would consider it months in the future if I hear it improves. read more

Called and asked if we needed a reservation and were told 1/3 was reservation free and the bar was open seating. Came in and were seated at a wonky unsafe hightop, when I mentioned it waiter was able to move us but then we lost him. We ordered seafood stuffed mushrooms which came with bread. All delicious and then our food. Wife had mushroom risotto she said was great. I had a sliced steak that was so good I could've eaten two, and my son had a sandwich I didn't get the name of but he called "this bomb ass sandwich". His chips were the only food fail. Service was fantastic. Atmosphere loud and lively. Porch would've been a great place to sit. Next time! read more

finding a way into this restaurant is confusing and taxing. the vibe in absolutely confusing. putting kettle chips on a plate is so lazy in this day in age. like what are we even doing here? i can handle the cheaply made chairs. the service is fine but the staff does not gel well and it's as if they don't care if the customers see them argue. i really don't think i tasted a hint of seasoning throughout the meal. dessert seemed very premade and splashed together. if you are in the market for the same view but a tested and perfect menu Anthony's home port is across the street. i didn't hate this menu, or the staff, or the taste of the food. i can just spend a $100 on a solo dinner anywhere now and why in the wide world of sports would i want to spend on a dinner with kettle chips on the plate? mid dinner. i'd give my night out a 50% i don't see myself going again or bringing family or friends when there's better restaurants within a block or two . the waterfront view is honestly the best part of this location. the kettle chips are an insult to the view. read more

My wife and I had dinner here for the first time yesterday and it was an amazing experience! We arrived with no reservation on a Saturday around 5pm and were quickly greated by a hostess and sat at a table with Layna as our server. She was friendly, attentive, and never left us with an empty drink for long without offering another. Even the manager floated around checking on all the guests. The patio tables were all taken but there were a few more indoor tables left. We started off with an Ember Old fashioned and a Pepperoncini Martini which were well mixed and delicious but our appetizer, the Char Grilled Chorizo Oysters, were absolute ! The flavors were out of this world, the chorizo and oysters complemented each other very well, and the sourdough was so fresh. We chose to split a Gatsby Prawn Wedge salad which was definitely a meal in and of itself. The prawns were large and savory, the dressing was light and flavorful, and the candied walnuts were a fantastic accent. We almost decided against main courses but couldn't resist. My wife chose the prime time burger which IMO was just average. I felt like the flavor was lacking. My wife enjoyed it and especially relished the shaved prime rib with grilled mushroom that topped the burger but she did not enjoy it as much as my Chilean Sea Bass. I selected the Chilean Sea Bass which was, hands down, the best fish I have ever had. The sea bass was moist and flavorful and accented perfectly by the pesto and tomatoes. It was plated beautifully on a bed of mashed potatoes which contrasted gloriously with the honey. Overall, the experience was phenomenal! We will definitely be going back and look forward to trying some of the other menu options because EVERYTHING on the menu sounded delicious. NOTE: Parking is validated by Char Kitchen if you park in the Marina Square Public Parking garage. We learned the hard way and parked a block away read more

What a wonderful addition to our community! The ambiance is a class act, modern, trendy, beautifully decorated! Tables and chairs are not your typical restaurant seating! The interior decorator deserves an A+! The menu is varied and has something for everyone! Living a vegetarian/vegan lifestyle in Kitsap is challenge, their menu has vegan choices! I had the beet burger, it was fabulous! It came with home cooked potato chips, liked that option vice French fries. My friend had the baby ribs from the appetizer section, wow, beautifully displayed with corn, he devoured everything on the plate. I had a refreshing spritz cocktail. The server was attentive and delivered superb customer service. The GM was introducing herself by going table to table. I was as there for lunch and there was a steady crowd the entire time. Highly recommend this wonderful new eatery, we have nothing like this in our community! Can't wait to go back. My only recommendation is to raise the beautiful light fixtures over the tables a little higher I witnessed several guests numb their heads on them getting up from their table. read more

They have a weird parking policy; you have to enter your credit card to get a ticket to get validated. However, neither I nor my friend got a ticket. We had a lovely meal, very good and told the waiter that we didn't get a ticket, she gave us a bar code to scan on the way out. The bar code did not work, and the machine asked for the credit card again, ok, but then it declined the card. So frustrating. I showed the bar code again and it let me out. I emailed the contact on the website and received no response, five days later. not a great system especially the lack of response, beware. read more

I will say up front that I wish I could've selected 4.5 stars, but it's not an option. We sat in the bar as the patio was full. The bar has an awesome vibe with a large window that was open to let in fresh air and offer an amazing view. I had a fabulous dirty martini that was made to perfection and my husband had the Charred Ember Old Fashioned, that he said was the best Old Fashioned he's ever had! Service from our waitress and the bar staff was superb! We shared three appetizers and ordered the halibut and fries. We started with the Yuzu Tuna Tartare, Bourbon Cherry Sticky Ribs, and the Char Broiled Seafood Stuffed Shrooms. All three were very tasty. I would gladly pay a little more for the Yuzu Tuna if they would give me more tuna and less corn though. My husband said the ribs were amazing and we both loved the shrooms, although I only ate one because I'm not a huge onion or garlic fan. Th sauce the shrooms were in was fantastic. The one disappointment was the Vodka & Beer Battered Halibut. While the fish was cooked nice, the batter was pale and greasy, and the fries were very greasy. I don't know if the grease wasn't hot enough or what the situation may have been, but it was not what we expected for $39. We know they just opened, so I'm sure some things still need to be tweaked. We will definitely be back! Bremerton needed a cool upscale vibe of a place, and this restaurant certainly is that. read more

Two nights in a row I had dinner at this place. Last night I had the New York strip and first of all, it was set in front of me looking like it was straight out of a magazine. The presentation of this plate was absolutely phenomenal, to say the least. Not only that but it was one of the best steaks I have ever had. Then tonight I had the prime rib. I didn't think it could get better than last nights meal, but holy smokes.. my dad makes the best prime rib I've ever had, so I definitely can't tell him about this experience because Char's blows my dads out of the water. The atmosphere is fantastic, right on the water, overlooking the marina in the heart of Bremerton. I highly, highly recommend coming here, anytime, for any meal or beverage. The service was top notch and best of all, I didn't spend hardly what I expected, with such fine dining and quality atmosphere. 5 stars. HANDS DOWN. Grateful for the experience. read more

Overall good food and nice staff. Hard to find, no signs anywhere, a sandwich board out on the sidewalk would be helpful, you walk into a gym and the person at the counter had to tell us where to go and what floor. Music was good ( lots of 70's Motown). I had the B Burger. Had a nice Char ( hence the name). The mayo sauce was a bit spicy for me, but that didn't stop me from finishing it all. Kettle chips were great. Not greasy and thick cut. No lunch or happy hour specials ( maybe they should add that for more traffic). Manager made sure to greet and quick seating. Not the cheapest ( burger with chips and beer was about 28.00). If they do happy hour I will definitely go back. read more
