Hops and Drops is kind of basic. They have a reasonable happy hour, with a couple of veggie items and some good drink specials. This is typically when I go. They do get quite busy, so I imagine they have a lot of people who really enjoy their food. For me, it isn't anything special, but it's fine. The service is always good. I haven't been to HnD for a while and wanted to check it out again. We were greeted by a kind person who showed us to a table. We ordered a specialty burger, salad and kids Mac-n-cheese. The salad was a typical garden and was small but tasty. The burger was in Texas toast, had jalapeño cream cheese, fried onion strips. It was tasty. The bread could have been a bit more toasted but was still good. The kids Mac was penne which when you're a 5-year old the only pasta is elbow. I took a bite and it was pretty tasty too. They do not have onion rings?! There is plenty of tables and TV to give that sports bar feel. The service was wonderful and friendly. Attentive staff that checks on you periodically. The food ordered were burgers with sides that were tots and fries. The tots were crunchy but could have been a bit more. The fries were seasoned and perfect crunch. There was a kids meal that sold 4oz burgers. The staff did not know the oz of their adult burgers were. The patty was thinner than expected, border a smash burger. The flavors were good but a bit on the spendy side for a burger filled with condiments. Overall the burgers were ok but the sides were the best. We were seated and got our drinks quickly. Our waitress was top notch, but I felt bad because it looked like she was the only waitress on the floor during a busy Saturday rush so she was all over. My husband and I are new to the area and she gave us a warm welcome and a sample of their crispy house-made chips and a creamy dip. I ordered the Rise and Shine grilled cheese with a garden salad with an Apple Cobbler Cider, my husband ordered the jalapeño cream cheese burger with a Caesar salad with a blueberry iced tea. The food was delicious and cooked well. The Rise and Shine grilled cheese is the perfect way to eat breakfast for dinner. My husband's burger was a bit messy, definitely needed a knife to be cut in half, so make sure to get extra napkins! They have lots of TV's with various sports programs on. I have been here a few times - it is very clean and could be great. One time the burger is really good and next time it's really dry. Sandwiches are better - good fries and onion rings. Beer is cold. The worst part is the service. I have sat at the bar for more than ten minutes on a couple of occasions and nobody even acknowledges me. You can check my reviews...it takes a lot to leave a negative review, but the entire experience was terrible. Slow service, even though the restaurant was almost empty. We sat at the bar and it took forever to get a menu and order a drink. To the bartender's credit, she was the only one mixing drinks, so she gets a bit of a pass. What was worse, was what seemed to be a manager, who was informed of a restroom urinal that was flooding, and responded "customers are so stupid" literally right behind us. As he takes a mop and bucket to clean up the restroom, I notice that he has on the gloves that he was using to expedite, totally fine. Well, not exactly....as he returns still complaining about how stupid customers are (it's the fault of a customer for a bathroom flood ?!?) I notice the gloves as he puts the mop and bucket back....to proceed right to the expediting window with the same gloves on! We were in the bar and could see everything!! But I suppose I'm a stupid customer who doesn't know what they are talking about. Okay...,now, let's get to the food we ordered. We ordered the queso with homemade chips. I question the homemade chips, but will give them that one....but the queso?!? Good lord, it was terrible. And terrible not because of taste, it was bad. It was definitely spoiled. Needless to say, that was it. I would have pointed out that the queso was probably past its date, but didn't want to be called stupid. And the service was so slow, it wasn't a priority why we didn't eat it (but paid for it). We ended up at Applebees right down the road and it was amazing. Trust me, go there first. read more

I was in Washington for a work trip and had a recollection that I'd seen a Hops N Drops somewhere in Colorado (there's one in Broomfield) and decided to check it out. We were sat at the bar and greeted immediately by the gentleman behind the counter. He gave us a few recommendations on what they had on tap and I settled on a Porter brewed for them by Northwest Brewing. I opted for the Avocado Chicken Salad which showed up after a bit of a wait. Grilled, flavorful chicken that wasn't dry, bright green lettuce, generous slices of avocado and a delicious creamy avocado dressing. It hit the spot and, while a little on the pricier side, I'm glad I gave it a shot and would check out the Broomfield location if I needed a quick and sure bite. read more

If you haven't tried one of the frozen drops , do it , I got the huckleberry lemon drop , yummy!!! We also had the fish and chip delicious. Pleasantly surprised by a decent experience at Hops n Drops today! There was a lack of places open (snow day, 12/23) but we were starving and didn't want to do our grocery shopping on empty stomachs so we braved it. Typically, we are not chain restaurant folks and our expectations were low. The staff was friendly, busy but friendly. The place was clean and the service prompt. They are getting docked a star because the brought the wrong lunch to my husband, but he enjoyed it none the less. Both our lunches were yummy, their tots were crispy and sauces were good. And we were in and out in under 30 minutes. I'm not sure we'll be back unless it's desperate times again, but should they be the only option in town again we'll be glad to know what we're getting. Was visiting from Michigan. My friend recommended this place because he really liked Hops n Drops in silverdale Washington. He did not like this one as much. Food took a few extra minutes than it should have to be served. (I think short on help). My food was ok but my friend didn't like how his fries tasted (too salty or too much seasoning). My shrimp tacos were a little too crispy (they were soft tacos). One more thing: there was a specials menu they placed on our table -- on one side it was advertising their Oktoberfest beer. The Gig Harbor location right off H-16 is absolutely fantastic. The service was so perfect! Our waitress handled our drinks and food so quickly and efficiently!! I've been to other locations near my house, and the service just didn't meet the quality that the Gig Harbor location did. My Wife and I ordered the Street Tacos, with a side of fries and Hops n Drops' Honey Chipotle BBQ sauce (to die for!) My kids had a Cheeseburger with Lettuce and Ketchup, and Chicken Strips. The drinks kept coming as efficiently as I have ever seen, bigtime kudos to our server! The food came out cooked to temp, and was absolutely delicious! The kids enjoyed their food as well! I highly recommend the Gig Harbor location if you're in the area and are looking for excellent service and food! PS. Overall this is a good American food restaurant that serves a variety of beers, burgers and other assorted classic American foods. I've driven by this restaurant a number of times and finally decided to give it a try. Walking in it was nice to be back in a normal restaurant and the atmosphere felt good inside. We were greeted and seated very quickly and the staff was very attentive and courteous. The menu is available through your phone and there are quite a number of pages to look at. We ordered our food and it was served relatively quickly and the serving sizes are great! Ordered the burgers and fries and a highly the garlic fries. Bottom line is you're looking to spend $20-$25 per person per meal. It's a little bit on the higher end but then again the atmosphere and the staff and the amount of food you get breaks even. HnD is somewhere between 3 and 4 stars, but I'm rounding up because they try really hard. Typically I can take or leave service, but I can see that they are trying really hard here. Food is pretty much what you'd expect for a chain. The tots were good. Mac and cheese was average (3 star). This is a tough area to compete with mac and cheese, there are so many good offerings around. I would say that the drinks are the coolest thing. My date's cocktail (the "drop" in the hops and drops name) was served in an actual piece of ice in the shape of a drinking vessel (this is the drop). Super cool concept, and the drink was kept super cold obviously. I can see this being a major hit in the southwest, where it's hot outside 10 months out of the year. Still a cool concept here though. Tap list was good enough for me. I can't remember what I had, but I remember that had a good number of local breweries to choose from on tap. With so many restaurants around here, this might not be a regular spot for us. I think this would be a good spot to take visiting family members, plus the lure of the drops! Definitely worth checking out at least once. read more

I don't even know where to start with these guys. I've been going to Hops since they first opened their doors in Silverdale and Lakewood as "Hop Jacks". I have been to Lakewood, Gig Harbor and Silverdale and pretty much have made everyone I know go w me at least 3 times. Everything on the menu is so good I never know what to get so I always go home w extra food. Some of my favorites are their house made chips and garlic ranch dip, street tacos, taquitos, most burgers (they have some awesome spicy ones and veggie style) and both grilled cheese sandwiches are so worth the try. I could list everything I like but I haven't tried something that didn't kick my taste buds in the face. So damn good. If you're looking for a new place to explore give them a shot, odds are you'll return with more people. Drinks: their house beers are so good and their specialty drinks are rad if you hit them at happy hour you save a little bit. Once you have one watch those dominos fall :) cheers. Where ever this woman is you know, her staff is always top of the line and super attentive and friendly. The staff is very friendly and it seems like most really enjoy their jobs. That is a huge plus if the other issues can be fixed. The food was decent. The oil in the fryer tasted old and possibly burnt, so the cod wasn't that cod and slightly overcooked. The coleslaw was tasteless. The house salad was a good mix and cold. They have a nice selection of spirits and have a happy hour from 9 to close. The ambience is that of just about every other gastro pub. They have enough TVs if that's what you're seeking.
