First of all, let's just start with this place is brand new so there might be some hiccups. What a great addition to Gig Harbor to have Ivers and one of the complexes that deliver high-quality food and the upper downtown. We ordered the salmon chowder, three-piece fish and chips, combo and chips. The combo and chips has prawns, clam strips and fish and chips into it. The salmon chowder was absolutely delicious and I highly recommend dipping your fries in it. If you never had Fish and chips, you're missing out on a staple of the northwest. Here are a couple of things to learn, first when you order from the kiosk and you order a soda you have to go to the front desk to pick up the soda because it won't be delivered to you when they drop off the food. Their barbecue sauce isn't a traditional barbecue sauce and I really did not care for at all. It felt like it was cocktail sauce mixed with barbecue sauce. The establishment was very clean and organized. And I have to say that they were way busier than the previous establishment that used to be there. Really good sign of things to come or that they're just new. Highly recommend this place if you like food, especially when it comes to seafood. read more

Beer?? Oh wait you don't serve beer‍? Really? Your response is "we sell beer in some of our other restaurants?" But wait you can get a beer and fried food if you only drive 90 minutes to Mukilteo. You are a pretty good sized company. Let's pay the extra and get an alcohol license at the Gig harbor location. You have a beautiful patio for people to sit out on and sip a few beers, and hammer down some codpieces! The worst part about this review (if you're still actually reading it) is the food was pretty darn good. The Cajun cod was pretty tasty! read more

This trip to Gig Harbor Ivar's was much better than the last so I'm happy I tried it again. The fish and fries were excellent and ir was nice sitting on their out door seating area on a nice day, too. The staff this time was attentive and very nice. I'm very happy Gig Harbor has an Ivar's now. I plan on eating here again amd enjoying some great Ivar's fish and chips. I appeciate that they accepted my feedback after my first visit and made it right. I look forward to my next visit. I do love to Keep Clam like Ivar used to say. read more

I love the salmon and chips. Big chunks of salmon just lightly breaded with cocktail sauce. Yummy! Wish you had beer. O well.

Nice to have a casual fish n chips place close to home. The help yourself "sauce bar" is a plus. Definitely try out the garlic vinegar .... it's good. Casual seating inside with booths. read more

We had to stop at one iconic Washington restaurant while driving through the state. Ivar's was the one we stopped at. Luckily, they opened up one in Gig Harbor. They are a newer location located in a large strip shopping center with plenty of parking. Service is fast food like where you order at the counter, and they deliver to your table, or give it to you as takeout. We ordered both their fish and chips (fries) and their shrimp and chips. The fish and the shrimp were excellent. I'm not complaining, but, we did get a lot of fries. Ivar's is a good fast food restaurant and this Ivar's is worthy of a stop if in the area. read more

We visited on opening day, and while it was very busy, the lines moved quickly. The staff were all friendly and took great care of customers, which made the experience even better. We brought our 9 month old baby with us. It was cozy and spacious. We parked our stroller and enjoy our meal comfortably. The clam chowder was piping hot, creamy, and full of flavor. Just tried the new Ivar's in Gig Harbor and WOW--easy 5 stars!!! We had the shrimp cocktail, chowder, and cod fish & chips. DELISH!!! The quality was outstanding, the presentation was on point, and the portions were generous--honestly a step above other Ivar's locations we've visited. You can tell they really put extra care into this spot, too. Staff were very welcoming and accommodating. Menus do vary a bit by location, which makes this one feel even more special. Bonus: Our Gig Harbor location also offers Kidd Valley Burgers. We're already looking forward to coming back to try those next! We've been waiting eagerly for this Ivars to open for months and we were not disappointed!! We were worried because the line was long, but it moved quickly and the cashier was very friendly. We both got the two piece Alaskan rock cod and it was delicious! The food came quickly and was super hot and fresh. The inside was nice and clean, we were impressed since they've been packed, but the tables were cleared very quickly. We can't wait to come back and try the Kidd Valley burgers. read more

Good new addition to Gig Harbor uptown. Lines move pretty quickly. Service is nice and friendly. Everywhere inside was very clean overall. Tables were available and wait time after ordering was less than 10 minutes. The price of cod sure has gone up in recent years. The fish and chips still taste great though and the portions are pretty good for the price. The pieces vary in size - but a couple could likely be able to split a 5 piece and be okay - or a three piece and a kid's meal. The cajun option is great and worth trying. Looks like there is also a kid valley burger menu with a few options there too in case someone in your family does not want fish. Bathrooms were limited, and just two single occupancy ones - which for a place this big that was as busy as it was on a Sunday, meant there was a large line building just in case you wanted to wash your hands before or after eating. It is Ivar's, so people love their fish and chips or don't but they are still classic. This one is a step up from the one in Tacoma. Worth checking out and supporting. Wish that all fish and chips orders came with slaw, but that is just a note for next time. read more

My first time at the Gig Harbor Ivars was great, in room dining. We went back again, for takeout, and it was terrible. The service was good but the size of the fish was so incredibly small, I thought that gave me some scrap remanent of fish or an oddly shaped shrimp. I am not sure how they can charge $15 for fish and chips this size. I did call and they said they would offer a replacement, but once I got home, I didn't have time to go back. I probably won't ever eat there again. read more

I saw that Ivar's opened up recently in the area, and I was so excited for a new seafood spot locally. My husband and I popped in for dinner and both ordered the oysters n' fries basket, and each had a fountain drink. It was about $36 for two people. I wouldn't have been bummed out if the oysters portion was a little bit more. The basket literally came with five, small oyster pieces and a whole lot of fries. Everything tasted hot, fresh, delicious, but I was surprised that there wasn't much to it for the cost of the meal. And never had my husband turned to me at a meal in a restaurant and says "So I'm definitely going to need some protein after this". The oysters were really soft and creamy, with a peppery sort of battered spice. And the fries are nice and crispy. If they could have added at least three more pieces of oysters, this would have been it. I'll give it another try again soon and order a sandwich instead. read more

Probably been this way for years, but that's maybe a jumbo shrimp, but certainly not a jumbo prawn. Why I just get the chowder which is still great. $12.50 for 8 little prawns and no chips. read more

Went here for lunch this week. Saw the terrible review that was simply unjust and the other that dinged for price. Me and my wife had 4 piece fish and chips and a clam chowder that we split. Place was busy and service was fast. Lows were the fish that wasn't as good as remembered and small and the Ice Tea was empty so no drink for either of till about 5 minutes after fish came. Fries were generous and good as was the clam chowder. Since dining room was clean and ambiance was fine I'm sure we will come back. read more

The food was just ok. We had the "jumbo shrimp" that in reality, were not. They seem to just be deep fried from frozen and curl up so much that they are hard to eat. The fries were just ok. The coleslaw is a waste of money. Very little dressing on a small portion. The shared drink/condiment area is a mess. Several were empty and the shared soft drink dispensers were dirty. For a restaurant that has not been opened long, it was surprisingly dirty. The walls and shelves were very dirty with grease and dust that looks like it had never been cleaned. The service at the register was not at all enthusiastic and people were milling all around that area waiting for food to go. The food did come out quickly, but calling people's names for their orders was not efficient. Hopefully they will get their act together soon. read more

We went to the new Ivar's outlet Sunday evening and were very happy with the food. We had salmon and rock cod with rice in lieu of fries, plus chowder. Everything was perfect. The only negative we had was the acoustics in this building with all hard surfaces, making it difficult to carry on a conversation with the surrounding noises. We will go again. read more

I forgot how good the clam chowder was, it's been years since I've been to an Ivars. The ice tea was great. Enjoyed the 60's music.

Food and service were really good, as we expected from Ivar's after eating at several other locations. They are in a very congested area, so we will probably not make the 35 minute drive often. Maybe some day they will open in a port Orchard. read more

The pedestrian walmartification of Ivars was highly disappointing, the quality and moist fish we are used to from days of ivars gone by. The quality Mr Haglund insisted on was sadly lacking in the tv dinner quality it is now. read more

We went to Ivar's for the first time today and had a great time. We each had the 2-pc cod and it was flavorful; my wife got the fries which were ok and I got the rice that was good. The drinks area was clean and we got refills. We also had ice cream cones. The menu looks interesting with a good variety; we're both looking forward to returning soon. The prices were very reasonable, especially if compared to a similar restaurant on the water at the harbor - although the portions at Ivar's are smaller. Probably I'll get the 3-pc cod next time (more filling) for $14.50 I think - and I'm interested in trying their salmon ($22). Staff was real friendly and there was an overall positive family vibe. If you order from the kiosk they'll call your name and bring your meal to the table but if you order at the counter they'll find you by your order number at the table. Bottom line: based on the quality of the food, variety of the menu and very reasonable prices, we'll probably be back often. read more
