Our first experience with Susanne's Bakery was during the holidays when I ordered a Bouche de Noël. Overall, it looked and tasted great--my French husband can confirm this. We also had the chance to enjoy coffee and pastries one morning. I had a latte, and my husband had a mocha, and both were good! Along with our drinks, we ordered a croissant, and I had a kouign-amann. Once again, my husband can attest to the quality of the pastries, given his French background. The service and the bakery's ambiance were good--clean and well set up. Seats were readily available when we visited (approximately 10 am). The parking lot is first-come, first-served, and we weren't able to park there, but we easily found street parking just a few steps away. read more

This is Gig Harbor's little bakery that I absolutely love for pastries and cakes. I always tell myself I'll just get one pastry, but the moment I walk through the door, that plan is out the window--I end up leaving with a whole box. They have a great balance of savory breads and sweet desserts, so there's something for every craving. My favorite is the strawberry cake: soft, light, and topped with delicate cream. It's absolutely perfect with a cup of black coffee. Everything is always fresh and delicious. The bakery itself is small and cozy, with seating in the front and back, plus a small outdoor seating area in the back. There are a few parking spots available, along with street parking. We have been going to Susannes Bakery for years. Our previous visit was less than stellar. We arrived and it was fairly busy the line was to the door. We ordered and paid for coffee and pastries without any issues. Got our pastries right away and then the saga began. We nibbled on our pastries waiting for our coffee. I noticed that the lady who was behind us just got her coffee. We asked how much longer until our coffee came out. The cashier looked back at the orders verified the order and stated we were next up. 5 more orders were delivered and we asked again. We were told once again, we were the next order up. We waited again for 5 orders or about 40 minutes, no coffee. By that time we had finished our pastries and just asked for a refund. The refund was quickly delivered. When we got home we reviewed the receipt. Not only did we not get the coffee we ordered, they refunded the order to someone else. read more

This shop is so cute and is located in a great, busy spot. They have a lot of seating and even some parking on the side. The staff was really kind and working efficiently getting the crowd taken care of. They make their items onsite and you can taste the freshness and the quality of the ingredients. We had a savory bacon and cheese scone that was tender and delicious! The peach coffee cake was moist and had chunks of peach in it. The sticky bum defies words...YUM!!! I regret we did not get a picture of the Morning muffin, it was a triumph!! . It was light and airy dough wrapped in a circle with brûlée'd style sugar all over it. In town for appointment and it was a great excuse to stop at one of the best bakeries in the region. Some of the best croissants ever, along with other treats that are variations of croissants. Muffins, tarts, cinammon rolls, and sandwiches if it's lunch time or get one to go for later. I had Marion berry tart that was so good. Lots of berries on top of flaky tart. The caramel latte complimented my choice. Grabbed a loaf of sourdough for home. Comfortable seating inside and out. Have been to Susanne's many times over the last decade for sweet treats. Everything is always outstanding. Recently, I've been working in Gig Harbor several days a week and have enjoyed a variety of savory items on several lunch outings. Everything here is made from scratch and that shows in the quality, fragrances, freshness and overall flavors. The staff is always seen working hard, and remain polite with smiles even though the lunch rush here seems never ending. I have always enjoy stopping in for a coffee and some baked goods. This last year for my parents 90th birthdays we ended up getting 3 sheet cakes. All were absolutely delicious. I wish I could have hoarded it for myself rather than serving guests at the parties. i'm visiting from west seattle and my friend who lives here and knows i love pastries said we should come to have a baked good and a beverage. i walked by with my dog very early this morning, knowing that it wouldn't be open until later but i wanted to see where it was and scope it out. two hours later we show up and there's some people in line and on the back patio but nothing too crazy. i got a day old sourdough loaf that'll be great for lunches for the upcoming work week. we also ordered two pastries and two coffees. since my friend is a local and semi regular, she tried to explain that the pastries in the case were mislabeled and got little response from the two young people working the counter. the kouign amman was labeled cheese danish and vice versa and she pointed that out so that weekend visitors to the bakery who were just going on looks might not order something that had ingredients they were intolerant to, etc. the drinks took a while and when she tasted her latte, her immediate reaction was that it didn't taste as it normally does. my iced chai tasted diluted and far more milky than chai flavored. my sticky bun was incredible and she got a cheese danish which she stands by as, "THE BEST!" all told, this wasn't a terrible experience by any means; it seemed like possibly new employees on an early saturday morning or possibly the need to have employees learn some of the ropes to a more accurate extent before leaving them to interact with long lines of people? by the time we left around 9:15, there was a line out the door and the front and rear patio tables were full (as you'd expect from a known beverage and pastry location) so people are clearly going to have their gluten fix in gig harbor this morning and i'll hope that next time i'm here the beverages are closer in taste and quality to what my friend raves about as the norm. read more

Cute and quaint little bakery with a small variety of sandwiches, paninis, and latte drink items. We were walking around the area and wanted a hot drink to take the chill off. Although we didn't try any of the bakery or sandwich items, they did look delicious, making this a must visit again spot. I ordered a 12 oz hot latte with sugar free hazelnut, my husband ordered a 20 oz hot chai latte, both with almond milk (they have a good choice of milk alternatives). We got our drinks fast and hot. I went to Susanne's Bakery for a lunch with three others on a weekend. We sat outside because the inside was full, and there was a nice area with a few tables. I ordered half of a turkey panini with a side of pesto pasta, then got strawberry cake for dessert after. I was very happy with the quality of the food. The panini was delicious and I loved the brie and apple combination, the pesto pasta was nice and tasty, and the strawberry cake was light and so yummy. Loved the colorful well divided chalk written menu above offerings but, especially , appreciate having a laminated sheet I can hold in my hands to read! The Strawberry Rhubarb Hand Pie was different then I have had at pie shops but very pleasing. It appeared to be more like a fruit danish but when I had my first bite I recognized the flakiness more lighter then most pie crusts. And the price more competitive as well at $5.00. I had read about chocolate coffee cake but didn't see any. That will be my next tasting preference. read more

The counter staff came to my table with my drink, and when I realized my iced tea was unsweetened, went back in, got me my chosen sweetener and brought it back to the table. At an establishment like this- where I know he is busy and there isn't table service-that just said a lot to me. I ordered a flatbread pizza, which was amazing and a very, very good strawberry cream cake. This bakery is right in the heart of historic Gig Harbor and it has a sweet back patio with a few tables and then a few tables out front that you can sit at. The line isn't as bad as Sluys Poulsbo Bakery but there is quite a wait. When we got there we stood in line with a bunch of other people on the sidewalk. It was kinda awkward too since the sidewalk isn't wide so groups of people passing by had to maneuver around us by walking in a single file line. They do offer the option of ordering sandwiches online and pretty much by the time you get through the baked goods area and the register your sandwich may be ready for you, if not, close to being done. You are able to dine in, eat outside on the patio, or take your food to go. The dine in table rotation was pretty slow since the locals were there to chat with their friends but I think some of them got the idea that they needed to wrap it up because there were just too many people coming through. They brew Caffe Vita coffee. Not a fan of Caffe Vita but for those that do, just know they use a La Marzocco espresso machine. High quality food and wonderful staff. If you're a Gig Harbor local, I get why you're here and if you're just passing through town, add this to one of your places to visit. read more

I do think Susanne's and the pizza place next door have some weird issues with their tables & chairs-please work your issue out, as a consumer I feel weird when I'm told I can't sit at an open table because it's the other restaurant's. read more

I admit when we got there around 10:30 it was more then picked over and barely any kind of a selection was left. we did get a key lime pie to go since it was only 1 of two pies or cakes left. but one thing for sure. do ask what the price is. the bill was $45 for 1 pie and 1 cookie. as for the pie I've definitely had better will give it another try of course earlier and not get a pie to go read more

This must be a popular place in the Gig Harbor. Stopped here on our way back from Purdy. It's more than 30 mins wait on a Sunday morning says all about the popularity of this place. Located on the Harborview Dr, with a great ambiance and a patio with grapevine for outdoor dining. Service is terrific. The staffs were very friendly and courteous. We ordered the Paninis, Chocolate croissants, the cinnamon rolls and coffee. The Panini is fresh made - took around 20 mins to be ready - served with Pesto pasta salad on the side. Must say delicious. Croissants were fresh and so good. But I fell in love with the cinnamon rolls. Must try item in my opinion. So happy to find such a high quality eatery around this area. So this place is okay. Front of house is pretty miserable in general. Would it kill them to be remotely welcoming or friendly. Guess the Seattle freeze is alive and well and settled in Gig Harbor. Gig Harbor's food scene is limited at best so having a "Bakery" is nice but this one is hit or miss. The outside seating area is sweet, if you just want a cup of tea/ coffee and small bite to enjoy the view its pleasant. read more
