    Classic Sourdough

The sourdough is the closest you will find to San Francisco style. Scrumptious. Multiple flavors but I'm an old fashioned "classic" type of guy. Good bagels as well. And the service is terrific.

The gluten-free banana muffin was surprisingly my favorite item that I ordered. I wouldn't have known it was gluten-free if nobody told me. The ham and cheese croissant was pretty good. The cinnamon roll/croissant was a bit dry. I wished all of the pastries were warmed up.

I've enjoyed Balloon Roof bread from the farmers market and was really excited to try their new bakery. The breakfast sandwich comes on a biscuit and it may be a little on the pricey side (this is not Starbucks) but it was worth every penny as it was basically my platonic ideal of a simple breakfast sandwich. The biscuit itself was perfectly salted and chewy - with no icky baking soda flavor - and the eggs, ham, and cheese were mild and yummy. Not intensely seasoned -- just salt and pepper really -- but the ingredients were clearly so good, the sandwich stood on its own. That sandwich -- as well as the fresh baked croissants -- keep me coming back. Unfortunately, the however, no matter how many times I keep trying, I don't like Olympia Roasting so I will have to get my weekend breakfast espresso elsewhere.

The pastries are absolutely incredible, we have gone three times already and have been so impressed. The staff are very friendly and helpful especially if you have questions about any of their menu items! Tacoma has been needing a place like this! Also-- in my photo, I over-toasted my pastries (so they look crispier than how they were actually served).

    Delicious!

Everything about this bakery is awesome. The location, vibe, and, most importantly, the bread products. All fresh and fluffy with that yummy aroma wafting throughout. It is well-staffed and service is quick and phenomenal. The egg, ham, and cheese bfast sandwich is the best I've had!

We have been following them for quite a while at Farmers markets. Glad to see a store where we can buy all of their goodies!!

    Pickled jalapeño and cheddar loaf...mmmmmmm!!

I am so happy to see this place open up!! Popped in on a Friday morning. Perused the bakery rack near the front door. I WANTED to try EVERYTHING...but one can only eat so much bread at a time, so I REALLY had to restrain myself!! I chose the pickled jalapeño and cheddar loaf. Also picked up some sourdough English muffins. Picked up a cheddar scallion scone, a ginger molasses cookie, and a focaccia: sun-dried tomato and red pepper. The loaf: great choice! Lots of cheddar bits inside and love the little bump of tangy warmth from the pickled jalapeños. The scone: SO YUMMY! My furbaby got a little nibble and he loved it as well! The English muffins: HUGE!! And so tasty!! The cookie: it was ok. I would have preferred a bit more flavor, whether more molasses, more ginger or more spices...just a little something to make it stand out a bit more. The focaccia: OOOOOOO SO GOOD!!! Love the flavors of the toppings on this bit of soft, fluffy goodness!!! The staff were all fabulous. So kind and welcoming. Loved the laid back vibe of the bakery. Guests sitting around drinking coffee, munching on the goods, chatting...very nice! Also got a latte. They don't have much in the way of flavors: vanilla and cardamom...so I got a little of both... FANTASTIC!!! You should try it! I was PLEASANTLY surprised!! Over all, absolutely I'll be back!!! Loved it!!

New coffee bakery in Hilltop area. You can smell fresh baked goodies as you come in. Line is quick and efficient no slacking or small talk to hold things up. Great for quick coffe and croissant or sandwich.

The Ginger Molasses cookie is absolutely amazing!

Continuing the bakery and pastry stretch... I swear most of this wasn't planned at all with all these stops for this kind of thing. But that is what what gives it an extra layer of fun I guess... the spontaneousness to it. I came across Balloon Roof Baking Company at the Proctor Farmer's Market and have seen them a fair amount of the time on previous visits. Our latest stop we decided to finally give them a try and the only bad thing about it was that we didn't buy any of their baked goods sooner. We bought two loaves of bread. I got a black pepper loaf which was great while Steve got a Parmesan and Garlic loaf. His was excellent as it had whole cloves of garlic in the bread. It definitely wasn't subtle but was it good! We both got the Pepper Focaccia Bread and that also in of itself you eat piece after piece in one seating. In fact this is the best Focaccia that I think I've had. So very fresh and abundantly flavorful. And finally we shared a Ginger Molasses cookie. And once again... I can't recall if I've had a Ginger Molasses as good as this one. The thin strips of ginger on top of the cookie is a small addition to what I usually have but it made a big difference. I highly recommend this bakery and be sure to find them at the Proctor Farmer's Market. Their Yelp entry has their address to be in Fife but it looks like they are closed except for Saturdays.

I know they do not have regular open hours for just walk in purchase, but rather, they're custom order type business, but I have yet to place any custom orders so I cannot speak to that experience. What made me write this review is how accurate the owner (Brianne) described cake and desserts in the description and the baked goods taste matched 200% of the description. The pistachio cake was out of the world, so was the whoopie pie!!! I got to meet Brianne in person and she was very friendly, and was kind to explain everything about each of her baked goods she had out that day. I've tried their baked goods from pop tarts to cookies to housemade Twinkie and the creation and taste are unmatched. Single serve baked goods were more on pricier side, but well worth every bite. I would definitely order custom baked goods from here, knowing the quality and taste of products from this shop!!! Currently, you can find Spilled Butter baked goods at Cosmonaut coffee, Outer Dark Coffee, and at Tacoma Farmers Market (also known as Tacoma Broadway Farmers Market) from time to time. Enjoy!!!

The service was pretty quick. Ambiance was appealing with many baked items and a very nice aroma that got my Ghrelin levels going! They have many different savory and sweet options. I ordered one of their breakfast sandwiches which came with sausage, muffin, and eggs. OH MY GOD. This was one of the best breakfast sandwiches I have tried in a while. Absolutely amazing. I am lucky that I don't live right by this place, otherwise I would spend all of my money here. I also got a sausage quiche which was not bad, but I wish I had tried some of their croissants. The croissants were placed around the corner of where I ordered, so I had not seen them. Had I seen the croissants, I would have ordered them and devoured them. I am definitely coming back to this place and HIGHLY, HIGHLY RECOMMEND IT!

A bonus is the fact all the fresh baked bread can be sliced for you or you can take it home and slice it yourself. Having this service is great. Dark rye, 12-grain, and others that are....... well too many and all looked delicious. There is fresh baked Lavash, soft and delicious and many of the breads were still warm and fresh.
