A hidden Korean bakery in the Tacoma/Lakewood area on South Tacoma Way. Recently stumbled upon this bakery when my sister and I were browsing for a new place to buy cakes from. In reviews, we noticed they have a cat cake that is so adorable! Saturday morning, we came to buy one of the cat cakes that were available in the display case. We weren't sure how much it was, but when it was rung up as $30, I thought that was a good price! We weren't sure what the inside looked like or what flavor it was until we cut into it. It's a white cake with grapes and mangoes in the cream layers. It was not overly sweet like American cakes, which we prefer. I will definitely come back again to try their other pastry items!

Cute little store front. I like that they use minimal sugar and their items full of flavor! We purchased maybe 7 items and all of them were good!! Will be back to try more ... I think this place is a Real gem!!

Still my favorite bakery! How lucky are we to have a talented Korean bakery chef that has lived and also trained in Japan and France?!!! I really like that the cakes and goodies are NOT too sweet. The balance is perfect and I am not sure how they do it! My favorite treat is the "CHOW CREAM." Do you like cream puffs? Do you like fresh baked bread? Well, this is kind of a combination of the two and it really works. You basically have a fresh baked roll sliced down the middle and filled with a not too sweet cream puff filling. This really is a must try spot. I like to come early in the morning and ask for a freshly made chow cream.

I wish I can say their cake is good, but the fruit cake i bought was very dry. The cake was a bit gritty as if they didn't sift their flour. The cake was also on the sweeter side compared to most cakes I've had at neary Korean bakeries. The only positive note is that their cakes are are pretty to look at.

Little bakery tucked in the corner of a small strip mall, just down the street from H Mart. This place is cute, and offers a large variety of bread, cookies and cakes. I got a red bean bread and a soboro red bean bread with sweet rice. I like the red bean filling, not too sweet, and has some chunks for texture. There was a new cashier bring trained while I was visiting, and the service was very polite.

I saw this place pop up on my local Instagram reels! My kids love trying new sweets, and I was able to stop by this afternoon. Tucked away in the corner... minimally decorated, food displayed neatly and definitely worth it to try! My kids were so excited, it was hard to choose. We picked an assortment of vanilla creme filled donuts, rice balls and sugar twist, rice flour donuts. At the register, my daughter was enamored with the adorable cat cakes, so we got a small. ::insert cute squeal here:: haha. We have to wait til we got home to eat the Fluffy creme filled items, but it was worth the wait! I love that they were softly sweet and airy in texture. We will be back! So cute and so tasty!

Super cute cake. A large that could serve 10-12 was $35. However, the flavor was really underwhelming. The cake layers were light but dry. I was told it was vanilla and peach but the cake layers had no flavor and there was only a tiny bit of fruit. I regret buying a large now as I don't really want to eat more. Even my mom who doesn't like things too sweet thought it wasn't sweet enough. Maybe one of the other flavors (chocolate, coffee) would have been better. I think I will stick with their pastries for now.

This is a great Korean bakery and definitely worth your drive. The selection is large and the service is very good and the people I've met here really are nice and knowledgeable. We love the cream filled donuts and pastries as they have way less sugar than American ones. The dinner rolls are a huge favorite so a bag now and then is definitely a must. Soft and delicious they can last at least a day (maybe longer but we eat them in 2 days). This bakery is tucked into a corner but larger than expected inside. The number of items is very large and you should plan a little time to orient yourself and make your choices. Be sure and ask any questions you may have, they are happy to help. Tips: 1). buy the donuts and fried items early in the day when they are at their peak. 2). Just inside the door are trays, tongs and bags to select your items - fingers and hands are no-no as in all Korean bakeries. No beverages or restrooms for the public.

Ask the Community - Bon Bon Bakery

Do they do custom orders, and if so, what is the process? Thanks!

We receive custom order. It's better if you show me the picture. And we mainly make sponge cakes on whipped cream. If you order, please order three to four days in advance. Thank you.

Do they have any gluten free or gluten friendly items?

I'm sorry, but we don't have gluten-free bread in our store. I'm sorry.

Can you make a strawberry crunch cake and how much?

I'm sorry for the late reply. Is the strawberry crunch cake you want strawberry flavored cream or bread strawberry flavored?…

What are their hours of operation?

I know they do not have regular open hours for just walk in purchase, but rather, they're custom order type business, but I have yet to place any custom orders so I cannot speak to that experience. What made me write this review is how accurate the owner (Brianne) described cake and desserts in the description and the baked goods taste matched 200% of the description. The pistachio cake was out of the world, so was the whoopie pie!!! I got to meet Brianne in person and she was very friendly, and was kind to explain everything about each of her baked goods she had out that day. I've tried their baked goods from pop tarts to cookies to housemade Twinkie and the creation and taste are unmatched. Single serve baked goods were more on pricier side, but well worth every bite. I would definitely order custom baked goods from here, knowing the quality and taste of products from this shop!!! Currently, you can find Spilled Butter baked goods at Cosmonaut coffee, Outer Dark Coffee, and at Tacoma Farmers Market (also known as Tacoma Broadway Farmers Market) from time to time. Enjoy!!!

Typically get the jalapeño sausage breakfast sandwich. The bread is super soft, the sausage has a nice flavor, and there isn't too much egg. It also come served warm which makes it yummy. I'm also a bit picky when it comes to coffee and how it's made. Corina does a GREAT cappuccino. It's strong without a bitter taste to it. The floral arrangements and product displays were clearly designed with great care. All the items are wrapped in plastic wrap to keep them fresh. The shop is quite spacious, and the interesting paintings on the walls really leave an impression. All of this plays a huge role in building up their customer base. Service: The signage inside is clear, and everyone lines up in an orderly way. The staff is warm and welcoming, and they even asked if I wanted my bread warmed up. The order came out very fast--overall, a great service experience. Taste: I ordered two pastries: an almond croissant and a chocolate croissant. The almond croissant was packed with ingredients, with a thick, rich layer of processed almond filling in the middle. The texture was great--highly recommended! However, the chocolate croissant was a total disaster!!! My first bite was actually satisfying; the chocolate flavor and texture were rich. But on my second bite, I realized... it was underbaked. So disappointing.

So as my go to guide I yelped it! And up popped Kusher Bakery. You know I had to go and today we went there. It's an Eastern European bakery, and grocery store with products from multiple Eastern Europe countries. The selections are very good and then there is the bread baked daily except on Sunday. A bonus is the fact all the fresh baked bread can be sliced for you or you can take it home and slice it yourself. Having this service is great. Dark rye, 12-grain, and others that are....... well too many and all looked delicious. There is fresh baked Lavash, soft and delicious and many of the breads were still warm and fresh. Look you can go to the other market on 70th and get very good stuff and pay quite a lot more, or go to Kusher and get a better selection and pay reasonable prices.
