A hidden Korean bakery in the Tacoma/Lakewood area on South Tacoma Way. Recently stumbled upon this bakery when my sister and I were browsing for a new place to buy cakes from. In reviews, we noticed they have a cat cake that is so adorable! Saturday morning, we came to buy one of the cat cakes that were available in the display case. We weren't sure how much it was, but when it was rung up as $30, I thought that was a good price! We weren't sure what the inside looked like or what flavor it was until we cut into it. It's a white cake with grapes and mangoes in the cream layers. It was not overly sweet like American cakes, which we prefer. I visited this bakery and bought four pastries today. Some popular items were already sold out because I went around 1:00 p.m., so if you want the best selection, I recommend going in the morning. The pastries were fresh and delicious. However, I was disappointed with the service. I chose not to buy a plastic bag, but I expected the cashier to place my individually wrapped pastries into one paper bag, as they have done during my previous visits. The balance is perfect and I am not sure how they do it! My favorite treat is the "CHOW CREAM." Do you like cream puffs? Do you like fresh baked bread? Well, this is kind of a combination of the two and it really works. You basically have a fresh baked roll sliced down the middle and filled with a not too sweet cream puff filling. Little bakery tucked in the corner of a small strip mall, just down the street from H Mart. This place is cute, and offers a large variety of bread, cookies and cakes. I got a red bean bread and a soboro red bean bread with sweet rice. I like the red bean filling, not too sweet, and has some chunks for texture. I saw this place pop up on my local Instagram reels! My kids love trying new sweets, and I was able to stop by this afternoon. Tucked away in the corner... minimally decorated, food displayed neatly and definitely worth it to try! My kids were so excited, it was hard to choose. We picked an assortment of vanilla creme filled donuts, rice balls and sugar twist, rice flour donuts. At the register, my daughter was enamored with the adorable cat cakes, so we got a small. ::insert cute squeal here:: haha. I was looking for a bakery that could make a cake for an upcoming birthday. Wanted something a little different and came upon BonBon. After a brief chat with the woman behind the counter I noticed how beautiful the cakes in the case were. I mean beautifully decorated, almost to pretty to eat! I decided to get a few delish bakery items and after tasting them I decided, yes, this is definitely the place! The cream puff was not too sweet and the chocolate chip puff twist was so good! They had sold out of their donuts but I will try them next time when I go back to order that cake! Inside is very clean and pastries are neatly put out so you can help yourself. Super cute cake. A large that could serve 10-12 was $35. However, the flavor was really underwhelming. The cake layers were light but dry. I was told it was vanilla and peach but the cake layers had no flavor and there was only a tiny bit of fruit. I regret buying a large now as I don't really want to eat more. Even my mom who doesn't like things too sweet thought it wasn't sweet enough. Maybe one of the other flavors (chocolate, coffee) would have been better. This is a great Korean bakery and definitely worth your drive. The selection is large and the service is very good and the people I've met here really are nice and knowledgeable. We love the cream filled donuts and pastries as they have way less sugar than American ones. The dinner rolls are a huge favorite so a bag now and then is definitely a must. Soft and delicious they can last at least a day (maybe longer but we eat them in 2 days). This bakery is tucked into a corner but larger than expected inside. The number of items is very large and you should plan a little time to orient yourself and make your choices. Be sure and ask any questions you may have, they are happy to help. Tips: 1). buy the donuts and fried items early in the day when they are at their peak. 2). Just inside the door are trays, tongs and bags to select your items - fingers and hands are no-no as in all Korean bakeries. No beverages or restrooms for the public. read more

Cute little spot for locals! Pastries were amazing and delicious. Many many options but they sell out sooo quickly so make sure to get there early in the morning! I went around 10 and the more popular items were already sold out unfortunately so we didn't get to try them this time. I absolutely loved the Croquette or Donut hot dog it was really nice with a crunchy exterior. I believe this place is more for the people who live in the area to stop by and grab a quick breakfast rather than someone traveling to grab a taste unless your eyes are not set on one item. Please read if you care for an honest review after trying the egg tarts and a birthday cake. I want to rate this higher because I love supporting small businesses on S Tacoma way, but if we are judging on the cakes- there are better tasting Asian-style fruit cakes in the area. The appearance of the cakes here are far superior, but this one contained less pieces of fruit and the cake wasn't as moist or soft as you'd expect. It was okay, but I had higher hopes for such a beautifully decorated cake. Aside from that, the egg tarts were delicious and they have a huge variety of pastries that I will come back to try! The woman working the shop was very, very friendly and even offered us a sample of their blueberry pound cake. You couldn't tell from the outside, but they're kind of like Paris Baguette, with the trays and tongs to you can pick out your items and they do a nice job of displaying their inventory. Sis wanted to get a fancy Korean cake to impress her friends at their potluck. She got a pretty one which looked like a dollop of whipped cream. It was $35 so hello high prices, but she said it tasted good. I tried a whipped cream donut which was good, but I wouldn't call that whipped cream. It's kinda like that plastic-like cream you get at one of those chefs warehouse places that comes in a pastry bag so you can easily shoot it into the pastry, but it didn't have that milky, melty consistency you get when you bite into real whipped cream. This is what I expect when I shop in an area called 'international district' in Tacoma. The owner was knowledgeable and had a lot of input in the pastries by showing us which were a new addition. I didnt expect much from this place because id never heard of it but the desserts I tried were possibly the best ive ever had. The dough is cooked absolutely perfect so that its firm enough to hold everything inside of it but still melts in your mouth like a krispy kreme does.
